The Pirates looked dead. Down 6-1 to the Dodgers, missing Oneil Cruz and Konnor Griffin, and staring at a fifth straight loss, Pittsburgh somehow found a way back. Neil and Doug break down Tyler Callihan's huge night, including the first two home runs of his MLB career, one of them coming off Shohei Ohtani. They also get into Jared Jones' start, Carmen Mlodzinski's rough outing, Spencer Horwitz's massive insurance homer, Bryan Reynolds robbing Ohtani, Gregory Soto closing it out, and why the bullpen remains the biggest issue even after a wild 9-8 win. This was one of the greatest wins in PNC Park history. Oneil Cruz and Konnor Griffin are both out, and Tyler Callihan delivered. Callihan said he's going to be better in the Major Leagues than the minors because these games matter and he received a curtain call by the fans. Joe is always going to remember how a random Wednesday night turned into a historic night with the Pirates, plus the Knicks cementing the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.
Hour 4 with Bob Pompeani, Joe Starkey, and Jeff Hathhorn: Tyler Callihan had a great day and Jeff thinks Callihan wanted to prove that he belongs! Tyler Callihan had an absolute legacy performance to fuel the Pirates' comeback against the Dodgers yesterday. However, Callihan is not in the lineup today because there is a lefty on the mound. Jared Triolo and Marcel Ozuna are both in the lineup tonight, as they both hit lefties well.

Jared Triolo and Marcel Ozuna are both in the lineup tonight, as they both hit lefties well. Bob Pompeani joined the show. Bob says that he will watch the World Cup from time to time this year. Bob does not think that the division is out of reach for the Pirates, and he thinks that the Pirates will be involved in the playoff race this year. Bob also thinks that Mitch Keller will put together a nice performance tonight against the Dodgers. He says that the Pirates have to wait for Marcel Ozuna to do more considering what they paid him this offseason. Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo joins the show. Ray thinks that the backup QB job is solely in Will Howard's hands, and there is nothing Mason Rudolph can do if Howard performs well enough to be the backup. Ray says that Drew Allar has been up and down this year, but there is still a lot of optimism surrounding him. Ray says that a Joey Porter Jr contract will be more expensive than Nick Herbig's $25 million.

Welcome back to Wrestling Tonight, your weekly look at everything happening across WWE, AEW, NJPW, TNA, and beyond. This week's episode covers one of the most loaded slates of the year as the summer calendar reaches a boiling point. We begin with a full preview of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where the world's biggest promotions collide once again on one of wrestling's most anticipated stages. Headlining the card, AEW World Champion Hangman Page defends against MJF in a long-awaited rematch, while AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada puts his title on the line against Swerve Strickland. The show also features the reunion of Adam Copeland and Christian Cage as they team for the first time in over 14 years, Toni Storm defending the AEW Women's World Championship against Athena, and Zack Sabre Jr. meeting Nigel McGuinness for the IWGP World Championship. Kyle Fletcher defends the TNT title against Hiromu Takahashi, Mercedes Moné faces Persephone, Alex Windsor, and a Stardom representative in a TBS Championship Four-Way, and a stacked lights-out steel cage match pits Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Darby Allin, and Hiroshi Tanahashi in his London farewell against Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Gabe Kidd, and The Young Bucks. From there, we turn to WWE's future with NXT Heatwave. Oba Femi is set to defend the NXT Championship against either Trick Williams or Je'Von Evans, while Hank Walker and Tank Ledger put the NXT Tag Team titles on the line against DarkState. Jacy Jayne defends the TNA Knockouts World Championship in a triple threat against Masha Slamovich and Ash by Elegance, and Jordynne Grace collides with Blake Monroe. A number one contender's match for the NXT Women's Championship will also take place featuring Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, and Lola Vice. Over in TNA, Emergence 2025 delivered a card full of major results. Trick Williams retained the World Championship against Moose in a match that had the Baltimore crowd split but firmly cemented Williams as TNA's top babyface. The Hardys retained the World Tag Team titles against The Rascalz in one of the night's highlights, Leon Slater held onto the X-Division Championship against Cedric Alexander, and Mike Santana defeated Sami Callihan in a Baltimore Street Fight that may have marked Callihan's farewell. While technical issues marred the preshow, the main event and key title bouts gave TNA momentum heading into Bound for Glory. In Mexico, Triplemanía marked the official beginning of WWE and AAA's working relationship. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Nick Khan stood alongside AAA leadership to emphasize collaboration. On the card, Omos won the Copa Bardahl, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. claimed the Latin American title, and Psycho Clown and Pagano captured the AAA Tag Team Championship. Judgment Day scored a win in trios action, Flammer retained the Reina de Reinas Championship, and in the main event, El Hijo del Vikingo retained the AAA Mega Championship in a four-way over Dominik Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano, with AJ Styles making a shocking run-in to help seal the finish. The event had the production, presentation, and pacing of a WWE show, sparking debate about AAA's evolving identity under this partnership. On the business side, TKO announced that UFC will end its traditional pay-per-view model beginning in January 2026 under a $7.7 billion, seven-year deal with Paramount Plus and CBS. WWE also secured a five-year, $1.6 billion agreement with ESPN, moving Premium Live Events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble to ESPN's new streaming service. At the same time, reports revealed WWE holds an option to purchase TNA and a right of first refusal should the company seek another buyer, further linking the two promotions' futures. Finally, NJPW's G1 Climax 35 has reached its conclusion. Konosuke Takeshita defeated EVIL in the final at Ariake Arena, fighting through an injured knee and overcoming House of Torture interference to secure his first G1 victory. Along the way, Takeshita shocked Zack Sabre Jr. in the semifinals, setting the stage for their Wrestle Kingdom clash, where he will challenge for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. With this win, Takeshita declared himself “The Alpha,” signaling his rise as NJPW's new international ace. In a heart-wrenching moment during the Cincinnati Reds' 4-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves on May 5, 2025, rookie left fielder Tyler Callihan suffered a season-ending broken left forearm, casting a shadow over the game at Truist Park. The 24-year-old, playing in just his fourth MLB game after a recent call-up from Triple-A Louisville, was injured while attempting a diving catch on a Matt Olson fly ball in the third inning. Callihan briefly gloved the ball before crashing into the padded wall in foul territory at full speed. The impact dislodged the ball, resulting in a two-run inside-the-park home run for Olson, as Callihan writhed in pain, his arm bent at a gruesome angle. The Reds challenged the no-catch ruling, but replays confirmed Callihan didn't maintain control, per MLB rules. He walked off the field with trainers, his arm splinted, and was later diagnosed with multiple fractures requiring surgery. Manager Terry Francona expressed devastation, noting Callihan's effort and character, saying, “He's such a good kid, you feel terrible for him.” Teammate Brady Singer, who pitched six innings but allowed all four runs, praised Callihan's hustle, stating, “I'll take guys like that every day.” Callihan, a 2019 third-round pick, had shown promise with a .303/.410/.528 slash line in Louisville and notched his first MLB hit days earlier. His injury, following a history of setbacks like a 2021 Tommy John surgery, is a tough blow. The Reds, held to one hit by Braves starter AJ Smith-Shawver, now face the challenge of moving forward without their resilient rookie.
Nick Kirby and Craig Sandlin discuss the news that Chase Petty and Tyler Callihan are getting called up on Wednesday, and what to expect from each player. They also talk about some of the Reds injury updates, including on Austin Hays, Jeimer Candelario and Tyler Stephenson. Plus a recap of all the Reds minor league action on Tuesday and a preview of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals. One of my favorite callers and human beings, Mr. Buddy calls in with what could be the greatest phone call this show has ever had. He goes scorched earth, take no prisoners, kill em' all and let God sort em' out on admitted double murderer and pedophile Daniel Callihan.
“I'm on Lexapro. Sober. No drugs in my system. I did it,” said Callihan.
Lemme break this down for you: Daniel Callihan, the suspect in a double murder, allegedly killed Callie Brunett in Loranger, Louisiana, on Thursday morning. He then kidnapped her two daughters, Erin (4 years old) and Jalie (6 years old), and took them to Jackson, Mississippi. Sadly, Erin was later found murdered. Callihan and another suspect, Victoria Cox, have been charged with capital murder, and Callihan faces an additional charge of sexual assault, although the victim hasn't been specified. Callihan's sister has spoken out, describing him as evil and explaining their upbringing by their drug-addicted mother. It turns out that Callihan's father was also a murderer. In 1990, he kidnapped and killed a 20-year-old woman from Denham Springs, Louisiana. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison but later escaped with the help of a woman. He then kidnapped a 17-year-old girl, shot his accomplice in the face, crashed during a police pursuit, and ultimately killed himself before being arrested. What a tragic and disturbing story.
Joe Ostrowski and Sam Panayotovich continue their NFL Countdown To Kickoff and are joined by Schuyler Callihan of Fan Nation and SI Now to talk all things Carolina Panthers and his expectations for Bryce Young's Sophomore Season after struggling as a rookie, and if the addition of new Head Coach Dave Canales will help make a difference in Charlotte.
