Technology is ever evolving in Specialty Coffee and quickly developing in every facet from Roasting to Brewing. We chat this week with David Chou from Eversys to help us better understand how automatic espresso machines have changed and the possibilities this technology has in Specialty Coffee and Hospitality. David Chou (he/him) is the Customer Success Manager at Eversys USA, based in New York, NY. With a background in coffee education at Stumptown Coffee Roasters, he now creates resources for end users and technicians, and ensures that the programming and recipes of each machine match what is expected. He is also the co-chair of the US Latte Art Competition, and greatly enjoys seeing the competitors, judges, and competition itself grow in its return to the USCC stage. Outside of coffee, he loves cooking, running long distances, and hanging out with his wife and two cats. #coffee #coffeepeople #espresso #specialtycoffee #technology

Buckle up for this episode of Collective Conversations as I catch up with Paul Bergeron from Thought Leadership Today. Paul is a repeat guest and is fresh off a multifamily conference circuit that includes the Apartment Internet Marketing Conference (AIM), Urban Land Institute, and Texas Apartment Association. I had a hard time keeping up with his bleeding-edge insights and observations. We took time to unpack a few topics: 1. A fresh perspective on the value of conferences 2. Asset Manager's role in property-level technology decisions 3. The evolution of the resident journey 4. Uniform taxonomy for data Grab a double shot of espresso (Stumptown Coffee Roasters for me) and a notepad for this one. It's packed full of insights! I had a chance to catch up with one of my Multifamily Industry Heros and Industry Icon, Lisa Trosien. I first met Lisa in Las Vegas during the 1996 National Apartment Association conference. I was brand new to this side of the multifamily industry, and spellbound was I by a leasing presentation she gave in one of the morning sessions. Later on the same day, I spotted her in the conference hosting hotel gift shop. Those who know me well know that I'm an introvert and striking up a conversation with a stranger is not my nature. But - I had to meet Lisa! As I approached her, she picked up a magazine with Michael Jordan on the cover, and I found enough courage to say, I liked your presentation from earlier today. Candidly, I have no idea what she said back to me, but I do recall that the magazines were for her husband as he is a huge fan. Today, I call Lisa a friend, coach, and mentor. She pulls no punches when delivering feedback or opinions. She calls it as she sees it, and I have immense respect for her. Please grab a cup of your favorite afternoon drink (Stumptown Coffee Roasters for me) and buckle up. Please enjoy my conversation with Lisa Trosien. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mike-brewer/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mike-brewer/support

Jeffrey Young speaks with Laila Ghambari, Director of Cafes at Stumptown Coffee Roasters, to get a glimpse into how the pioneering specialty coffee business manages its cafes and learn how she has been steering the ship through the turbulent waters of the pandemic. We originally spoke to Laila for our episode on Fostering team culture, but she offered such thought-provoking insights on leadership and navigating through change that we felt the interview deserved an episode of its own. In this conversation, Laila challenges us to rethink the traditional role of the leader and highlights the importance of serving the managers who report to you, instead of the other way round.Get in touch and tell us what topics you'd like to hear by visiting www.worldcoffeeportal.com/5THWAVE/Podcast
