Subscribe to Throwing Fits on Substack. Our interview with Jay Massacret is incredibly stylish. Jay—stylist and industry legend—was finally pinned down for a rare conversation on his love of Muji and Orlsow jeans, gay dating apps, art vs. commerce and styling journeys vs. destinations, how commercial styling differs from celebrity styling, introducing Lee McQueen to Lady Gaga and his storied relationship both working and personal with the iconic designer, how social media has changed fashion, Kim Kardashian is wonderful, international parameters prevent clown shows, you made it moments being false flags, code switching on set, remembering when there were no straights in fashion, prefering to never meet your heroes, Karl Lagerfield getting saucy, being bullish on Matthieu Blazy's Chanel and Proenza Schouler's Loewe, partying with Kate Moss in her prime, monster fashion boots, good clothes are only 33.3% of the gig, annoying assistant behavior, the high gloss uber fantasy era, the stuff you hate is always the most interesting, missing the magazine group project mentality, pretending to be bi, San Francisco was actually the other culture in the ‘90s, confessions of an ex-sneakerhead, styling red flags and much more on Jay Massacret's interview with The Only Podcast That Matters™.
I was honored to have on one of the most talented athletes both on and off the court in Massachusetts Muji Vader. She is a type of player that you want to build a program around. Was her Leagues MVP as a sophomore in this past year as a junior. She started her own charity in there so many amazing things both on and out the court. This episode was a lot of fun and a great listen!
It's not easy being a songwriter. It's also not easy being a PhD student. I don't know how Uwade is able to do both simultaneously. Uwade is in the first year of her PhD program in Classics at Stanford University, and in this episode we explore how these two lives intersect. We also go deep into her songwriting process, which must involve a .38mm Muji black ink pen. It has to be black ink because "blue is too whimsical. Black ink is me telling myself, You have get real. No more fun and games. Black ink is a declaration, whereas blue ink is for play," Uwade told me.If you're a Fleet Foxes fan, you've heard Uwade's voice on their album Shore and may have seen her open for the band. Her new and insanely good album Florilegium is out now on Thirty Tigers.
Have you ever noticed that the same strange symbol—a handbag or bucket—keeps showing up in ancient carvings all over the world? From the Göbekli Tepe pillars in Turkey to Assyrian stone reliefs in Iraq and even Olmec artifacts in Mesoamerica, this mysterious shape appears in civilizations that never met. That's pretty weird, right? Some believe it could represent divine knowledge, a ritual tool, or even something otherworldly. But how did people across different continents, thousands of years apart, all come up with the same thing? Could it be a lost connection between ancient cultures—or maybe even a warning about time itself? Whatever the answer, this mystery keeps archaeologists and history lovers scratching their heads!

Welcome to Talk Heathen! Today we have Richard Gilliver and Secular Rarity taking your calls about all things heathen. First up, VonZoom in OH doesn't have an answer for the fine tuning argument. It's almost always argued as fine tuning for life. The earth is nowhere near fine tuned for humans, let alone the entire universe. These are usually just hand wave arguments, they don't give examples. When you dig into the sciences, fine tuning falls apart. Repeat caller, Otari from the country of Georgia claims the problem of evil is an issue for the morality of atheism. The problem of evil is why is there evil in a world with an “all good” god. Atheism is only about god beliefs, not morality. Evil isn't a tangible thing, it's just a label we as a society places on undesirable actions.David in Malaysia isn't here to prove god but to argue the bible makes sense, starting at Isaiah not genesis. You shouldn't have to rework the divinely inspired word of god. No matter the arrangement, you can't prove the bible is true or god exists. Muji in Sweden read his quran and it doesn't say allah split the moon, that is an extremist view. Actually that is a moderate mainstream view that has been talked about for a while. Your view of Muhammad not needing miracles seems to go against the quran. Aaron in OK claims the bible is a unique great work of literature because it was a group project. There are other holy texts written by different authors. Popularity of the bible means nothing. If the quran outsells the bible, will you convert to Islam? Look into how the bible was made. A single focus across multiple authors does not mean it was god breathed. Josh in FL asks if a person can have a separate, coherent belief that is strictly devotional. A belief could be internally consistent, nothing we could pinpoint though. We accept people believe things, the important thing is that the belief is true. Great call, please call back!Thank you for tuning in to your community! This week's Talk Heathen To Me prompt is: Wrong answers only! Why did god REALLY flood the earth?

From their iconic pens to the soft glow of their aroma diffusers, Muji has reshaped how we perceive functionality and design. How have they navigated the treacherous waters of international retail? And what lies beneath their sleek product designs in terms of production, supply chain management, and profit margins? In this latest Teardown, we will also discuss… How Muji has taken their home product philosophy into some unexpected areas… like campsites and cars! Why a commitment to user-centered design remains a hallmark of the Muji mindset The challenges Muji continues to face taking a brand rooted in Japanese culture into Western markets A critical KPI for retail: inventory turnover rate, and how Muji performs compared to some other brands you might know… So grab your Muji gel pen and notepad as we unpack the business genius behind those unbranded, beloved products. If you've ever bought a Muji product or contemplated its strategic international footprint, this episode is for you. www.d.mba

Today's episode of the Talk Heathen ObjectivelyDan joins Richard Gilliver to answer your (hopefully) wonderful questions. Muji in Europe asks what issues atheists have with god wanting people to do good deeds, like love one another and give to charities? It's not all good… Non-believers don't believe gods exist and can do all those same good deeds, sans holy book. The quran supports the owning of human beings and child marriage! That's straight up immoral and we reject that “holy” book.Nataka in NY wants to talk about free will. There are categories within free will, the hosts tend to lean more toward determinism. Humans are simply physical beings in a physical system so anything we do is physical as well. There is no good evidence of anything supernatural.Mike in WA disagrees with our weekly poll, proclaiming god is not evil but hates queer people. (yay, random transphobia. ugh) Well, hell is super evil. Why does god allow that much evil? Why does god slaughter people? Under your definition as evil is something we don't want done to yourself, your god is evil. Ahmed in Bangladesh purports there are scientific miracles in the quran, like allah referencing the big bang and creating every creature from water. This is post hoc rationalization. In this case, applying gained knowledge to ancient written text. Big Bang does not equal “heavens and Earth”.Meryssa in UT is leaning more atheistic but thinks there is a small possibility there is something supernatural and a divine experience could change her mind. We haven't experienced anything divine and there are no compelling arguments otherwise. We don't think someone shouldn't believe anything without good evidence.Otari in Georgia claims the problem of evil is a good argument to prove god. A god isn't necessary to know what is right and wrong. We can still make moral judgements even if objective morality exists or not. Even if a god exists, doesn't mean they are good. Nick in OH asks why humans categorize animals in this “can harm and can't harm”. We agree harming animals for no reason is bad. Hard to sum this call up. This call dives into arguments regarding ethical vs unethical treatment, analogies to eating humans, economic impacts, and more. Thank you for tuning in to your community! This week's Talk Heathen To Me prompt is: You are in Hell! Who is your roommate?

Effective keyword research is an essential aspect of any successful Amazon business. The right keywords can make all the difference when it comes to optimizing product listings and boosting sales. In this article, we'll explore the importance of keyword research and provide tips for conducting effective research. The first step in effective keyword research is understanding your target audience. Who are your customers, and what are they searching for? It's crucial to put yourself in their shoes and think about what words they might use when searching for products like yours. This will help you identify the most relevant keywords to target in your listings.Once you have a good understanding of your target audience, it's time to start using keyword research tools. One of the most popular tools is Cerebro, which provides keyword distribution and indexing as well as trend lines up and down. By analyzing your top 10 competitors, you can build a master keyword list sorted by search volume.Another great tool for keyword research is Helium 10's Magnet. This tool allows you to enter a keyword phrase and receive a list of related keywords and suggestions. However, it's important to assess the relevance of these keywords before including them in your listing. Make sure they're truly relevant to your product and your target audience. In addition to using these tools, it's important to follow some key tips and tricks for effective keyword research. For example, it's essential to regularly update and refine your keyword list. As your business evolves and your product line expands, you may need to adjust your keywords accordingly. Keep a close eye on your search rankings and adjust your keywords as needed to stay competitive.Another important tip is to focus on long-tail keywords. These are more specific phrases that may have lower search volume but are highly relevant to your product. By targeting these long-tail keywords, you can attract highly qualified leads who are more likely to convert into paying customers. It's also important to avoid "keyword stuffing," which can harm your search rankings and make your listing appear spammy.
