Alright, here we go, strap in! She's back! This episode, me and Tiffanee Cook, we're going headfirst, I mean, like diving into a pool with no water, into some seriously personal stuff. You know, the kind that makes you go, "Whoa, this is a big issue, what am I doing here?" Lately I've been going through life busier than a one legged river dancer, and it's about time I started looking at what I need. Sound familiar? Anyone? And Tiff, we're in the middle of a conversation, and she just slams this question on the table like a steak at a vegan party - how the heck do you keep giving to others without completely losing yourself, and maybe your mind in the process? Where's that line where you're being generous versus self-abandonment?Then we get into this minefield called trust, especially with the people you're supposed to be close to. Tiff's got her take on throwing trust around like it's confetti, and let me tell you, it's not just about trusting other people. It's about trusting yourself, which, let's be honest, can be harder than finding a parking spot in New York City. And don't even get me started on self-forgiveness and owning up to your mess-ups. That hit me harder than a hangover on New Year's Day.But hey, it wasn't all heavy. We talked about the magic of just being in the moment, you know, smelling the roses, or whatever flower you're into. It's about noticing the little things that make life less of a dumpster fire. This chat with Tiff, it's like those little reminders life gives you that it's all about how your perspective and values shape the journey, it's about deciding who you are, and maybe, just maybe, enjoying the ride a bit.Enjoy! When it comes to creating success, in any endeavour, many people focus their attention on the technical aspects of the task at hand - refining their technique, improving a skill, or following an outlined process. Whilst this may create a level of competency, there is a critical ingredient that is often overlooked, or moved to the side - the power of belief. When we can tap into belief, either the belief we have in ourselves, or often the belief that someone we trust has in us, it can amplify our effort, and in many cases, deliver exceptional results. And the real power comes from the realisation that we can choose our beliefs. In today's episode, I'm blessed to have Tiffanee Cook back on after 2 years, as we explore the power of beliefs. It is a fascinating conversation which I hope you enjoy. This week on "Pushing the Limits" I talk Mindset, resilience, the life of an athlete with the indomitable Tiffanee Cook - boxer, sexual abuse survivor, business owner, podcaster and all round vulnerable/tough chick. DING, DING, DING... No turning back now, hands encased in leather, mouth guard in and the world and everyone else in it faded into the background. Sights, sounds, thoughts, stories... gone. Blows, danger, failure, truth... standing toe to toe, bearing a soul not yet seen.8pm October 27, 2012 ROUND 1 Was this the first time she had truly 'let go', 29 years in? Over in both a heartbeat and yet an eternity rolled into one. Terror, adrenaline, fear, courage, isolation, trust, visibility and uncertainty. Yet ironically, a certainty she had never-before experienced. 'Letting go' wasn't what she'd dreamt it to be. Emerging with both hands now free to grab hold of a whole new reality. Perhaps she wasn't truly born in 1983, but rather in a ring in 2012. The referee clutched that now free left hand and raised it above her head. A stance that changed her forever. The underdog can come out on top... they don't even have to know the rules. One crazy 'say-yes' moment accidentally and deliberately changed the course of this girl's life. Through the gloom and darkness, a crack of light showed a path, a doorway she could and would eventually walk right through. Boxing was the playground that allowed Tiffanee Cook to develop the courage, grit, resilience, curiosity, vulnerability and power that had lay dormant within her and bend and twist it to her favor. The fight wasn't over on October 27, 2012... It had just begun, and she was now a force to be reckoned with. BIO Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the face". Tiffanee Cook has learned this as a businesswoman, performance coach and boxer; from the comfort, predictability and safety provided by the corporate world, to the lessons and let-downs in and out of the boxing ring. Coming to the realization that, in order to have one's hand raised in triumph, adversity, discomfort and combat must be navigated. In the face of the messiness of life, do we fight or do we flee? Tiffanee speaks openly of her own personal experiences (good and bad) and how those experiences have enabled her to develop self-awareness, resilience, courage, independence and the skill to be able to maximize passion, possibilities and potential. She talks about getting knocked down (literally and metaphorically) and what it is that makes some of us get back up and some, stay down. Working in business, sport, high performance and personal development, Tiffanee explores a range of ideas, tools, skills, resources, philosophies and strategies to empower individuals, teams and organizations to improve everything from productivity, efficiency, culture and communication to physical, mental, emotional and social health. In this episode we delve into the fascinating intersection of coaching, psychology and real-life stories of how holding the space of belief for someone can plant the seeds of triumph over adversity. We also explore how belief can powerfully impact achievement, as evidenced by the groundbreaking Jacobson and Rosenthal study. The belief that we have in ourselves and others offers us insights into our unique strengths, our ability to overcome obstacles, and the influence it holds on our personal success. Wilma Rudolph is a true icon who defied incredible odds. As we explore her compelling story, we encounter the relentless power of belief conquering even the fiercest doubts. But we also unmask an aspect of her story that is not often explored, the tenacity and resilience of her mother. It was her unwavering belief that gave Wilma strength when she was a child, at times when she likely struggled with her own misgivings about the journey ahead. Join us as we navigate the science of belief and uncover the remarkable stories of those who've defied the odds, fueled by their convictions. Whether you're seeking inspiration, strategy or are just simply intrigued by the human psyche, this episode aims to leave you with a renewed sense of determination and understanding of the incredible potential residing within all of us. It's all my fault! That statement seems a bit harsh. It might even sounds a bit like blame and self-loathing; neither of which is productive, and can even be quite destructive in the long run. However, that's not what me and Tiff mean. In this episode, we are talking about responsibility, or the ability to respond to life's challenges, regardless of who or what is to blame. We believe that responsibility is critical to not only heal and rebuild, but finding emotional freedom. The question is, are we open to acknowledging, and owning the part we may have played in a particularly painful period of our lives? Again, not for the sake of blame, but for the sake of our own healing and personal growth. Many aspects of our lives can serve as a mirror; helping to put our perspectives, beliefs, and ideas under a microscope, creating the possibility for continual self-reinvention. We hope you enjoy this episode. If you don't, it's not our fault ;) Visit us at:www.theselfhelpantidote.com
Last year I became one cat closer to being a crazy cat lady... don't worry I only have the one, but since following the rescue page on my socials I've watched a lot of so called 'feral cats' get saved from death row, rehabilitated with love and become some of the most loving and affectionate little fur-kids you could hope for. It got me thinking about how we label and 'rehabilitate' humans who have been dealt a similarly rough hand in life and find themselves reacting to humans much like these so-called feral cats once did... with fear, reactivity and disdain (rightly so). Feel free to tune in and listen to me riff this one out.. you don't even have to be a cat person either! Would you rather be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond? I'm all for leaping into that big pond and rubbing shoulders with the big fish myself. However, what happens to our perception of ourselves and our progress once we go ahead and immerse ourselves in that mighty vast pond? This week I came across some stats on female podcasters and it had me reflecting on my own experience as a podcaster and the ebbs and flows of how I have felt about and viewed my journey along the way. This is a punchy little banter about just that... and a hopefully encouraging 'go-get-it-sisters' to all the brilliant women out there doing, about to do, or wanting to do something great! "Am I the problem here?" There's a question we rarely ask ourselves but should. How often do we point the finger at all the things that don't go our way and all the people who let us down, hurt us or make us feel inadequate? Well, the reality is that doing so might pass the buck in the moment, but it's not all that liberating, is it? In fact, I'd even go so far as to say that I feel it can really reinforce a state of learned helplessness. When I ask myself how I've played a part in undesired outcomes I regain the power to learn and grow from what my results are telling me. People have let me down. Yeah, sure some people won't have our best interests at heart no matter what, BUT... Have I shown up for them the way I've expected them to show up for me? Have I expressed my needs and set my boundaries? Have I accepted recurring behaviours from them yet expected them to spontaneously change or deliver a different outcome? Today's ep is reflecting on this question. How do you feel right now? And if you answered 'good' what does that even mean? Good like happy? Good like productive? Good like hopeful? Good like grateful? And is this feeling based on one lingering circumstance, or does it encompass a whole day, week or particular length of time? In today's episode, prompted by a new mindfulness meditation app and practice I've been doing each day I'm talking about some of these ideas and experiences I've had as I've reflected on how I deem the answer to that question each day. And in doing so, realise how little curiosity and how much potential for deeper inquiry I typically have around my current emotional state and what I can learn from spending just a moment contemplating it. Anxiety. We've all experienced it in moments, whether that be short term and circumstantial in the lead up to something nerve-wracking, or chronic and multi-layered from long-term stress or worry. In today's episode I'm sharing one tip that I find extremely useful when it comes to understanding, processing and essentially turning the dial down on the experience of anxiety. Letting go and outsourcing is a self-improvement goal my guest on this co-share podcast Tiffanee Cook has been contemplating for some time with limited success. In this episode I use the Immunity to Change framework created by Lisa Lahey and Robert Kegan to help her to become aware of the hold her cognitive immune system has over her, and how to start overcoming this. Identity, agency, mattering, belonging, trust and a whole lot of other human needs pop up when least expected as Tiff is encouraged and provoked at times to dig deep into her fears about letting go
How often do you actually take a moment to consciously feel gratitude? How often do you express that gratitude to someone who perhaps played a part in you experiencing it? I know it's something I've had to become conscious of... realising ya'll don't live inside my head and that my internal experiences are mine and mine alone unless I open up and share them. (crazy, I know) But the benefits of gratitude (and kindness) are widely researched, cited and very much proven to have a very real and very positive effect on our thinking and our emotional (and physical) state. So here I am throwing a little gratitude stone in the pond of humanity and hope it ripples out far and wide. Enjoy! Happy Sunday... but no Bobby today! This episode I'm just mulling over some thoughts on how we get through life's (minor) tough moments, inconveniences and bumps in the road. As many of us do, this week I had a big, exhausting week that knocked me for six and left me feeling mighty depleted. But alas, I had commitments I had made and in the middle of the mayhem I thought I'd reflect on the experience of making it work even when we feel like it wont. 'Rolling with the punches' just like the name of my damn show says to. “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face”. Today's guest has learned this as a businesswoman, performance coach and boxer. From the comfort, predictability and safety provided by the corporate world, to the lessons and let-downs in and out of the boxing ring. Tiffanee Cook joined me behind the mic to talk about her experiences working in business, sport, high-performance coaching and personal development, and of course, her journey as a competitive boxer. There's so much to gain from competitive sport, and in this episode we both share what we've learned from our own sporting journeys and how lessons from the boxing ring filter through to other areas of our lives. Check out Tiff's podcast Roll With the Punches here. Connect with her on Instagram and Facebook for more awesome content. Mark and Tiff start in a surprising way and it just gets crazier from there - using words to protect ourselves, being busy fools and delving into our bad news filing cabinets all get a run. Enjoy.
“Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the face”. Tiffanee Cook has learned this as a business woman, performance coach and boxer; from the comfort, predictability and safety provided by the corporate world, to the lessons and let-downs in and out of the boxing ring. Coming to the realisation that, in order to have one's hand raised in triumph, adversity, discomfort and combat must be navigated. In the face of the messiness of life, do we fight or do we flee? Tiffanee speaks openly of her own personal experiences (good and bad) and how those experiences have enabled her to develop self-awareness, resilience, courage, independence and the skill to be able to maximise passion, possibilities and potential. She talks about getting knocked down (literally and metaphorically) and what it is that makes some of us get back up and some, stay down. Working in business, sport, high performance and personal development, Tiffanee explores a range of ideas, tools, skills, resources, philosophies and strategies to empower individuals, teams and organisations to improve everything from productivity, efficiency, culture and communication to physical, mental, emotional and social health.” Linktree: https://linktr.ee/rollwiththepunches/Website: www.rollwiththepunches.com.auLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/tiffaneecook/Facebook: www.facebook.com/rollwiththepunchespodcast/Instagram: www.instagram.com/rollwiththepunches_podcast/Instagram: www.instagram.com/tiffaneeandcoFollow the podcast Onemomentpleasepodcast.com IG:@onemomentpleasepodcast FB: OneMomentPlease
We all have painful chapters in our life story. Some far more than others, which makes the burdens we carry are particularly heavy. Our pain, suffering and personal histories feel like enormous weights we drag through our lives. While our experiences without question can have a profound affect us, they don't have to define us. Your current condition is not your conclusion. Meaning, your story about who you were in the past, that keeps you stuck in the present, is not necessarily an accurate indicator of who you're capable of becoming in the future. In fact, in some cases adversity is the mother reinvention. However, we have to let go of the past in order embrace possibilities in our future. Join me and Tiffanee Cook in this episode as we talk about acceptance, and why we believe it's a critical aspect of healing and growth. What's more is that like in any great story, your transformation doesn't only help you, but it can connect you to others in meaningful ways, because it can be enormously valuable to them as well. Sometimes sharing our story and being authentic about even our darkest moments of desperation, can give others the inspiration, to support their own transformation. Enjoy!

Mark shares an episode of Tiffanee Cook's Roll With The Punches Podcast where the tables were turned and he was the guest. Why? Because he's human and hadn't recorded a new guest podcast of his own!! Enjoy some banter between two humans who tell it as they see it.
This episode is just me unpacking some thoughts around how in life and in business we fall into the terrible habit of trying to be all things for all people... Squeezing our square selves into round holes and when we don't quite fit, we beat ourselves up. Sparked by a recent conversation I had I thought it might be something some of you might find interesting, hopefully valuable. We are increasingly hearing from people that they're feeling unable to keep up with what seems to be unrelenting demands in their life and work. Can you relate to that? If so, please join me and my amazing co-host Tiffanee Cook for this episode. We talk about the critical subject of burnout. What does it mean for your productivity as well as quality of life when you're feeling constantly exhausted, physically, emotionally, and mentally, trapped in a state of overwhelm? Perhaps more importantly, what can you do about it? We don't simply mean how can you escape this state of being or get used to surviving within it. We are talking about getting back into a state of thriving. What are the thought patterns, attitudes and strategies that will allow you to make that happen? How can you perform and live at your best, while separating what matters most, from those things which are out of your control, or simply do not matter all that much in the long game? We explore the answer to these increasingly important questions, mixed in with some insightful musings and random banter. Enjoy
If you ask enough people what they want most in life, you'll notice that many of them (perhaps yourself included) will say something like “I just want to be happy.” Yet, with happiness being such a universal ambition, why does it seem to allude so many? Why do so many people seem to be struggling emotionally, even though they claim that happiness is a priority? These were the questions me and Tiffanee Cook explored in this episode. That and, What if it's our beliefs about happiness that's the problem? Could the pursuit of happiness be the very thing that's creating more distance between it, and us? Does society have the notion of happiness wrong? And why? Is it our false comparisons that keep us more miserable than happy? What role does adversity and resilience play in happiness? What does the longest running longitudinal study at Harvard reveal about the single most significant contributor to happiness in our lives? We suspect that happiness might be a consequence of focusing on the work, people, and experiences you value most, rather than a goal. Something to be attracted, rather than chased. Is the perpetual search for happiness a futile one? Maybe it's better to just say f*ck happiness, live a life of purpose and let happiness find us. What do you think? Is happiness something to be pursued, or is it a side effect of living a life of meaning? Enjoy
Tiffanee Cook the Host of the 'Roll With The Punches' Podcast joins me and gets real and raw about fear of success and failure, personal change, chasing bold things, her incredibly diverse career, and why self-awareness is the key to everything. Oh and we also manage to share our early fears about Podcasting.
It bloody got me! I'm rising from the Covid dust today and going solo to reminisce about some of my favourite guests and episodes over the last 12 months... Will YOU do the work? This is a super short solo episode I thought might be worth throwing into audio format. It's a few thoughts I pondered recently and posted on my socials. From that I received some feedback that the message landed with a few people so I thought, perhaps it might land with a couple more and be the kick up the bum we are sometimes looking for in life... And worst case scenario it's under 7 minutes so if it doesn't land with you, you haven't wasted much of your time :) TIFFANEE COOK Linktree: https://linktr.ee/rollwiththepunches/ Website: www.rollwiththepunches.com.au LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/tiffaneecook/ Facebook: www.facebook.com/rollwiththepunchespodcast/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/rollwiththepunches_podcast/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/tiffaneeandco See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This episode is co-hosted by one of my favorite humans, Tiffanee Cook, founder of Roll with the Punches! Join us as we share some invaluable tips on how to create the outcomes you want in life and work, through play. In today's highly innovative, interconnected world, where there are more offerings, platforms and sources of access than at any other time in history, being good is not good enough. To get noticed, you must be different. Meaning, you have to be authentic. Which often means being courageous. More than that, you must connect your authenticity to others in a way that is relevant, compelling and meaningful. Mastery of your craft requires an understanding of how your core competencies connect to concepts and people. That's why seeing your life or work through a narrow lens of learning and development can limit not only the value you can give, but the life you're capable of living. Craft requires contrast. The willingness to experiment, to play, be present, listen, open to learning, embracing failure, all in an arena that is as inspiring as it is challenging. You can't be very innovative if you're always around people that have the same background and perspective. In our conversation, we talk about how creative exploration outside our conventional scope of work, such as the performing arts, can structure our environment in a way that challenges us to understand what we truly want, as well as focus on and co-create the blueprint for others to get what they want as well. Enjoy!
In this special co-share edition, we catch up again with host of The You Project podcast Craig Harper, and host of the Roll With The Punches podcast, Tiffanee Cook. We chat about festive season mindsets, memories, Harps gives us his take on tenacity and we all talk about approaching work-life balance in a different way.
How long can you go forward, full steam ahead, ignoring the horrible things that have happened until the whole system breaks apart? A month.. a year… a decade…. Or worse, a lifetime? Or will you be stuck in this place of resentment and again for the past and disgust and disappointment for the present and hopelessness for the future. There is no arguing that it's a tough road, dealing with trauma from the past and there is no real handbook on how to get it right, but on this episode, we talk with a famous Aussie podcaster and professional boxer and how she came to realise the person she was being was not even the person she thought she was and how that lead to the beginning of her emotional healing journey. In This Episode We Discuss:Catching yourself out in a life or a persona that you don't even likeIdentifying the difference between denial and resilienceHow accept and give things to your trauma so that you can move through it***Join the Busy Mum's Facebook Group here: https://mattylansdown.com/BusyMothersFBgroup ***--SOCIAL MEDIA--Tiffanee CookWebsite: https://www.tiffaneeandco.com.au/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tiffaneeandco/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TiffaneeAndCo/Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/5lCP39hESkTVaXPwG4ECHu?si=4d47d4abcd6c4b2e--MATTY LANSDOWNJoin the Busy Mum's Facebook Group: https://mattylansdown.com/BusyMothersFBgroupInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/mattylansdown/--Thanks for checking out the show. This episode I get to bring back one of my favorite people, Tiffanee Cook. She's a great friend as well as an outstanding guest. Besides being an accomplished fighter, business owner, speaker and podcaster, she's witty, high energy, insightful, and curious. In our conversation we talk about common illusions and biases many of us have around other people, behavior change, learning and even our own intrinsic motivations. Many times, we hear these thoughts echoed from so many people on multiple platforms, we rarely stop to question if they're true, or at least completely true. When we let go of the ideas that aren't useful for us, we usually perform better exceedingly better in every critical arena of our lives. This is a shared episode between me and Tiff's show “Roll with the Punches.” I even left in some of the sound effects, for sentimental value. Just a disclaimer, the episode starts with a seemingly random, but meaningful, albeit loud outburst. The outburst in question was from me obviously. I believe we were talking about what it was like growing up with Tourette's and certain misconceptions around it? So just in case you're thinking “what's the connection to the subject matter of the episode?” There is none. Beyond that, we really enjoyed the episode and believe you will too. Check out Tiff's brilliant podcast “Roll with the Punches.”
I'm joined again for a short sharp chat with TYP's Craig Harper and Tiffanee Cook chatting about motivation and the fear of failure and success.
Hello beautiful people On today's podcast we have the beautiful and genuine Tiffanee Cook. Tiffanee is a former corporate worker to entrepreneur, host of the Roll With The Punches podcast, performance coach and a boxer, coming in as Novice Victorian Amateur Champion twice, and Featherweight VABL Victorian Champion. What I personally love about this podcast is Tiff's ease and personability. She is an open book about her life's tribulations and adversities. Starting from when she was very young, Tiff adopted the coping mechanism of dissociation and it is in this mechanism itself that she credits a lot of her boxing success. But as we are all aware, there tends to come a time in our lives when what we have been suppressing now wants to be freed, and we come face to face with who we are. It is in this journey that Tiff questions whether she wants to be a boxer or does she want to be a healthy human? Steering away from competition, Tiff began to use boxing as a barometer as to the level of self-care that she was practising on herself. It has been a turbulent few years, and it is in this podcast that we get pretty deep, pretty raw and real, about negative thought patterns, experiencing past happenings in the present, and how somebody's intention does not make for somebody's experience. If you love this podcast, please give it a rate, review, even a subscribe, become part of the To Be Human Collective, and settle in for this conversation that is a personal favourite of mine.Connect with MeMindset Coaching | https://www.jennahlouise.com.auInstagram Personal | https://www.instagram.com/jennah_louiseConnect with Tiffanee CookInstagram | https://www.instagram.com/p/CRyjc4dJ5in Website | https://www.tiffaneeandco.com.au/
You can't scroll down your social media feed for more than 5 seconds before being hit in the face by a post imploring you to “Be an Alpha.” There are books you can read, courses you can attend, and even mentorships where you can live off the land like John Rambo in First Blood. Hopefully, without a similar body count. All with the promise that if you're committed and “do the work” you can learn how to dominate in any arena, be the boss, the alpha! In this episode Tiffanee Cook returns once again to discuss a few issues with the Alpha mentality. First, if someone is constantly seeking to read books and go to courses to become an Alpha, that is likely a clue that they're far from being one. Second, the domineering win at all cost personality type may not be as beneficial to an organization, group, pack or tribe as we are led to believe. In fact, these individuals may be outright toxic to be around. Finally, this archetype is based on a complete misunderstanding of what an Alpha actually is, and why these individuals in the right context can be extremely beneficial to their groups and society as a whole. The truth is, you may already be an Alpha, not in the fallacious sense, but in the authentic definition of what it means to be an Alpha leader. As you listen, you might recognize yourself in some of the traits of authentic Alpha leadership we describe. In this episode me and Tiff discuss: Where did the term Alpha come from? Why are there so many misconceptions around the Alpha archetype? What does the research reveal about actual Alpha's? Why Does Tiff refuse to wear sleeves? Which traits are most consistently observed by Alpha's in the wild? Why are authentic Alpha behaviors so critical for our society? What type of environment brings out the most toxic traits typically associated with Alpha's, and why? Are displays of insecurity and weakness often misinterpreted as strength? What are the consequences of having a toxic Alpha within a group? In what ways does an authentic Alpha leader help a group to thrive?
So, in this episode, me and my friend, colleague and co-conspirator, Tiffanee Cook are at it again. This time its about discipline. We hear about discipline all the time. We need it, most of us want more of it, but what exactly is it? Is there a limited reserve of discipline we have each day? If so, what depletes it? What times of the day do you have more discipline than others? When does discipline fail? When it does, what do you need to do instead? In this episode we define what we mean by discipline, and discuss all these questions and more. Plus, we offer strategies around how to more effectively exercise it. We also go off on tangents, rant and say completely nonsensical things to each other. Enjoy!
