They then workshop their reviews of Justice Breyer’s forthcoming book before highlighting some exciting Supreme Court-related book reviews.

This is not a misleading clickbait headline, this is literally what happened. Mississippi citizens passed a medical marijuana amendment and textualist conservative judges overruled it with a reading of the law so asinine that it rendered constitutional amendments by citizens impossible going forward. You have to hear the breakdown to even believe it. In the second segment, Andrew delivers some more real bad news out of the US Supreme Court. You likely heard about the abortion case, but Edwards v. Vannoy is a decision you didn't hear about that does not bode well.
On today’s podcast, Sarah and David give their predictions on how the Supreme Court might rule next term in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the abortion case challenging a Mississippi law that prohibits most abortions after the 15th week of a woman’s pregnancy. Our hosts also chat about Texas’ new pro-life law, Justice Elena Kagan’s spicy dissent in Edwards v. Vannoy, the Mississippi Supreme Court case they talked about earlier this week, the University of North Carolina board of directors’ decision to block tenure for Nikole Hannah-Jones, and mugshots. We're talking sequels and remakes this week, as the podcast covers Collins v. Mnuchin (how to destroy a real estate admin agency in one easy step) and Edwards v. In this episode of DolphinsTalk Weekly with Kevin Dern a variety of topics are discussed in the world of the Miami Dolphins. Kevin gives his thoughts on the two big Dolphins trades from last week involving moving down from pick #3 to pick #6. And what that means in this year's draft and upcoming year's drafts. Also, Kevin shoots down the false theory that Andrew Van Ginkel will replace Kyle Van Noy this upcoming year. In his X's and O's segment, he tells you why this won't be the case at all and how Van Ginkel was used very differently than Van Noy this past year on defense. All of this and more on this week’s DolphinsTalk Weekly with Kevin Dern.

The New England Patriots were quite busy during the first week of free agency. The Patriots are entering Week Two of the signing period with 80 players on their roster as of Monday morning The quarterback position is still the biggest need on the team with no clear long-term starter currently under contract. The Patriots added two wide receivers to the group in free agency — Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne — but are still facing plenty of questions at wide receiver. No position on the Patriots’ roster was upgraded as drastically last week as tight end. The Patriots signed the two best players available in Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, giving them a viable one-two punch. the Patriots invested in Matthew Judon and Kyle Van Noy last week. Judon was signed to a four-year deal, while Van Noy returned on a two-year pact after spending the 2020 season in Miami. The two veterans are projected as the starters, with Chase Winovich and Josh Uche offering high-upside depth Not only were Davon Godchaux, Henry Anderson and Montravius Adams added in free agency, the team also re-signed Deatrich Wise Jr. and Carl Davis. With J.C. Jackson returning via the second-round free agency tender, and with Jalen Mills signing a four-year deal, the Patriots’ cornerback position projects to be a strength for the team yet again. In order to save what we now realize was much needed cap room, the team parted ways with Kyle Van Noy. This void at the linebacker position required Miami to find value pieces in return in order to make up what was lost. To do this, Miami has brought in Duke Riley from the Philadelphia Eagles, as well as Brennan Scarlett from the Houston Texans. In this episode, we discuss the two backers and what they bring to the defense. We talk about who will step up to replace Van Noy and what that will leave in its wake. In the Pod, we also cover the release of Isaiah Wilson, formerly of the Tennessee Titans. The tragic story of a young career lost is never fun, and unfortunately the Dolphins lose out on a potentially gifted athlete in the process. We talk about all that in more in this edition of the PhinsPod! Let's dive in!

On Tuesday, it was reported that TE Kyle Rudolph and LB Kyle Van Noy were about to be released by their respective teams. As the Pats have needs at both positions, it might be smart to consider signing either or both players. Joining host Mike D’Abate is Clare ‘ClazzyClare’ Cooper, as they discuss the pros and cons of adding two Kyles to the roster in 2021. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Jake and James try to figure out Ricardo Allen's fit with the Cincinnati Bengals, then speculate on Malcom Brown, Kyle Rudolph, and Kyle Van Noy. It's hard to make a case for either Kyle, although Van Noy may fit if the Bengals had a plan to use him the right way. Malcom Brown could be great depth along the defensive interior, but the point is that a lot of veterans are likely going to be coming available in the coming week. We wrap up by previewing our Bengals free agency target board, the methodology for our tiering, and the conversations it will generate as we're just a couple of weeks away from free agency. Today’s show is highlighted by 3 incredible interviews. First, 2x Super Bowl Champion, current linebacker for the New England Patriots, and friend of the show, Kyle Van Noy stops by. He and Pat chat about New England’s most recent win over the Cowboys, why he thinks Lamar Jackson is so difficult to stop, the wizardry of Bill Belichick, and his Youtube cooking show on his channel, Vibin’ with the Van Noy’s (3:34-22:00). Next, Hall of Famer, 2x Super Bowl Champion, member of the Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ring of Honor, and current studio analyst for Football Night in America, Tony Dungy, joins the show. They chat about his role in selecting the NFL all-time time in celebration of the league’s 100th season and how difficult that process was and what it was like sharing a round table with Bill Belichick. Pat and Tony also discuss the league as a whole as we get closer and closer to the playoffs, and why he thinks Lamar Jackson has been so dominant and why he has been very impressed with the 49ers defense, and if this Patriots offense will get it figured out, or if the current formula is their new identity (23:36-35:36). Lastly, Super Bowl Champion, 2x Pro Bowler, former safety for the Saints and Panthers, Roman Harper stops by while on vacation in Paris. He discusses what exactly double coverage looks like in the NFL, and why trying to stop a guy like Michael Thomas is so difficult. He also chats about why rivalry games can be much tougher on players if one of the teams has a bad record, and he chats about his alma mater Alabama, and why he thinks they should get into the College Football Playoff, and what he thinks the best formula for success is in order to be one of the final 4 teams selected (40:05-54:55). Also included is Pat’s story of his fake punt pass on Thanksgiving against the Steelers, and his instant reaction of this week’s CFP rankings as we get ready for rivalry weekend. Don’t forget, everything at store.patmcafeeshow.com is still 20% off! Don’t wait as most of the items will sell out. Hope your Thanksgiving was incredible. Come and laugh with us, cheers.
