Chicago Tribune food critic Louisa Chu joins Wendy Snyder (in for Bob Sirott) to share her review of a new Middle Eastern restaurant in Bridgeview, M'daKhan, and Proxi’s focus on Asian-style cuisine. In this soulful and engaging episode, the Archetypal Tarot Podcast welcomes guest Kaity Craven about her “Moonflower Moments” practice with card readings. She invites us into the magical world of intuitive card reading — a journey that's equal parts playful, profound, and occasionally butt-kicking (in the best way). With decks at the ready and intuition in the driver's seat, Kaity, a card and nature-rhythm reader, shows how each card becomes a doorway into deeper questions, unexpected answers, and moments of powerful self-discovery. What I love about Kaity's reading style is that it just FLOWS as she trusts her intuition. She is also unafraid to use MULTIPLE card decks, allowing for a diversity of interpretation. Nature's symbolism is frequent in her readings, and I love how she utilizes the Story Through Stone Reflection Card deck! This episode reveals Kaity's reading style IN ACTION while she gives me a live card reading! Budding and experienced card readers will benefit from observing her trust, style and flow — and you'll definitely want to grab your own deck and play along. Kaity shares how the process is less about having all the answers and more about being a big YES to whatever arises — drawing another card, chasing a curiosity, or exploring a feeling until the “well” feels fully drawn. Whether it's joy, mystery, or a spiritual gut-check, the cards are there to meet you where you are and take you further than you expected. Craving more of Kaity? You can watch her frequent and amazing Youtube videos by becoming a subscriber to Moonflower Moments. I highly recommend a reading with Kaity, she can read over Zoom or phone at reasonable rates. You book her by reaching out to her via her Instagram account. Want to see the cards Kaity uses in this podcast's card reading? Ep 79. Seeds of Success with Sam Wyllie of Moonflower Design Co.Today on the podcast we are joined by Sam Wyllie of Moonflower Design Co. Moonflower is a wedding floral design company based in Seattle Washington. Sam shares her journey of starting her business in 2020 and the transition from a full-time contract in the digital design world.Sam's turn towards a career in floral design was sparked from a flower design class she took as an escape route from her life in corporate. This class kindled a passion that stirred up the courage in her to not only leave her corporate job but also launch her own business — Moonflower Design. Opting for luxury floral design targeted towards weddings, Sam made a strategic decision towards luxury services which was insprired by her belief that clients who appreciate flowers enough to invest in them would also respect her work.Moonflower Design initially started in Boston. The brand found a unique foothold by offering a flower subscription service when events were postponed due to COVID-19. This strategy helped to kickstart her business, laying the foundation for a successful 2022 season. Relocating her business from Boston to the Pacific Northwest, Sam faced the significant challenge of establishing new connections. With perseverance, she adapted by participating in various networking events and styled photoshoots, which allowed her to showcase her work across different venues.Moonflower Design, named after the nocturnal blooming moonflower, symbolizes resilience, emergence, and beauty in adversity. Sam's approach goes beyond providing luxury floral arrangements. She views her service as an outlet for creativity and a way of establishing a meaningful connection with her clients. Tune in now to learn more about how Moonflower Design continues to evolve and flourish, mirroring the vibrant aesthetic its founder so loves to create. In this episode:The challenges faced by Sam in relocating her business from Boston to the Pacific NorthwestThe story behind the naming of "Moonflower Design"Sam's transition from her corporate job to starting her own floral arrangement business, including her pricing strategy Her passion for installations, her dream client, and examples of her workEPISODE RESOURCES:Books:Untamed - Glennon DoyleDesign and Branding: AnnaMarie from West Finch StudioInstagram: @westfinchstudio (https://www.instagram.com/westfinchstudio/)Website (https://www.westfinch.com/)Connect With Sam:Website (https://www.moonflower.design/)Instagram: @_moonflower.design (https://www.instagram.com/_moonflower.design)Moonflower Design Co. As women, mothers, and human beings in 2023, sometimes we are way too “27 bloom night-ish.” We go and go and go, and perform, and say yes, and we're on all the time, and we can't say no, and we hear things like "naps are for sissies" and "no rest for the weary" and we buy into that way of life. But it doesn't have to be like that. There is an amazing book called Conversations with a Moonflower (mega suggest it). In that book there was a powerful life lesson taught. In this episode, Brynne shares that life lesson, and gives you momma, permission to only have a one or two bloom day, whenever you need it. Permission to rest, to sit, to snuggle, to nap, to sleep in, to say no to that to-do list, and yes to the simple moments. Soulful rest is productive too.

JD Slajchert is an American novelist, speaker, and philanthropist. The former University of California, Santa Barbara basketball star debuts his second novel, “Darling, You're Not Alone” in the fall of 2022. NOVELISTA young adult novel, “Darling, You're Not Alone” explores the philosophical contention that if extraordinary darkness exists, then so too must extraordinary light. Slajchert explains, “We know all too well about the mindless tragedies that take place regularly in our world today, but this book is about the search and eventual discovery that if you keep battling, on the other side of tragedy is life changing opportunity.” “Darling” is a story told through three different stages of a boy's maturation into a young man. When we meet our protagonist, Phoenix Iver, on his tenth birthday in 1994, we quickly discover that he is not like everyone else. As a tortured young soul with crippling, manic episodes of social anxiety and depression, Phoenix leans heavily on his relationship with his one true friend, his father Herman. Although Phoenix relies on Herman for many things, he becomes increasingly more and more dependent on Herman's glowing, yet mysterious belief that the world is a good place. Then, one cold morning, and on the verge of discovering where his father's light comes from, Phoenix finds himself caught in the cross hairs of a school shooting. “Darling” chronicles this boy's struggles and rebounds as he attempts to believe in the idea's supported by his father despite all the darkness he's seen. A balance that we all—at one time or another—struggle to keep even.“MoonFlower” is inspired by his biggest fan as an athlete, Luc Bodden, who suffered and subsequently succumbed to Sickle Cell Anemia. Slajchert published a novella titled “Joining the Choir Invisible” last year.PHILANTHROPISTOn November 9, 2018 - just three weeks after his debut novel was published - Slajchert lost his Malibu home in the Woolsey Fire. The next day he and his team launched a fundraising campaign #MoonFlowers4Malibu where 100% of the book's sales were donated to the victims of the Woolsey Fire. After partnering with several organizations including, the American Red Cross (where he is a National Ambassador), Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial and working with local politicians such as the Mayor of Calabasas and Mayor of Malibu, on March 3, 2019, Slajchert concluded this fundraising campaign by raising thousands of dollars for the American Red Cross. Since then, philanthropy has been cemented as a major pillar of Slajchert's passions. Slajchert is also the Director of Relationship Development for The LucStrong Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports children with Sickle Cell Disease. He works directly with donor and community outreach for the foundation, facilitating better communication between their donors and children. www.jdwritesbooks.comwww.lucstrong.org

He HANDWRITES his books!!! James has a great convo with JD about his new book, Darling, You're Not Alone AND his letter writing champaign! Former college basketball player turned author JD Slajchert's national letter writing project is inspired by the storyline of his new novel “Darling, You're Not Alone” as it encourages everyone to hand-write notes to someone who made a difference in their life – and tell them (perhaps before it's too late), they are thought of and appreciated.JD Slajchert is an American novelist, speaker, and philanthropist. The former University of California, Santa Barbara basketball star debuts his second novel, “Darling, You're Not Alone” in the fall of 2022.Slajchert's journey to published author began innocently as a letter exchange with a friend, which eventually became the backbone to his debut novel, “MoonFlower” in 2018.jdwritesbook.com darlingyourenotalone.com

Today, I am excited to tap into the hemp and CBD world, with a beautiful couple I met this past March. I have driven deep into the comparison of different products and brand names and I find that after wading through hours of company bios, research on cannabinoid systems or THC, I find that I want simplicity. Which is why I get super excited when I meet people who are part of the process from plant to product. I found this plant to product collaboration in Ryan Heath and Vanessa Teff. Ryan is the hemp grower through Shady Oak Hemp Farm and Vanessa runs Optimum Vitality Nutrition & Wellness, which specializes in nutritional therapy, cold laser, yoga & sports performance. Together, they have created a hemp based concoction called “Moonflower Botanicals”, and today is just about sharing information regarding the cbd world, from the perspective of those who are closest to it.
In today's episode, I am joined by the lovely Nicola Moonflower, a business owner, coach and expert astrologer who helps people become more magnetic to create a life that's too good to be true. We have a great talk about all the ways Astrology can be incorporated into ANY business and all of its juicy benefits including the power of being absolutely sure when a good idea is on the horizon. I hear about how Nicola is currently growing her business and making efforts to align it with her personal life and looking after her children. We compare and share ways both of our businesses have changed and evolved over time through the influential force of Astrology. We also touch on the devastating news of Roe v. Wade and the severe impacts this ruling will have on millions of women across the country. We talk about how we can each do our part to get involved and support one another and the importance of spreading messages of hope, courage and love at this difficult time. We also talk about: The difference between honoring your peace and being misinformed How we each grew our businesses using astrology to make sure they aligned with our true passions How Astrology allows you to be an authentic leader of your own life The dangers of fear-based Astrology and using it as a money-making machine instead of the incredible and potent gift it truly is CONNECT WITH NICOLA: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nicolamoonflower/ CONNECT WITH LUNA: Book a reading: https://lunaveronicamysticcalendar.as.me/birthchartreading Follow Luna on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/luna.veronica.mystic/ Follow Words are Spells on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/words.are.spells.podcast/
