En realidad, sólo nos queda referirnos de nuevo al mismo pasaje bíblico en que el apóstol Pablo dejó en claro la solución para evitar desenlaces fatales como la muerte de Atahualpa, también a manos de sus adversarios en el ajedrez. En ambos casos es necesario abstenernos de insultos y de palabras indecentes, y dar muerte al enojo y no al adversario en el juego. Simone Weil fue una mujer con una vida breve durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Nació en París en 1909 y murió a los 34 años, a causa de una tuberculosis. Fue teóloga, socióloga y, principalmente, una influyente pensadora. Alguien que consideraba que su deber en el mundo era luchar contra la opresión que el poder arroja sobre el sujeto. Pero no lo hacía sólo desde el pensamiento y sus libros. Por ejemplo, en 1936 llegó a España para unirse a los anarquistas y pelear en la Guerra Civil contra el franquismo. Lo hizo pese a no tener preparación militar y sí problemas de vista y físicos. Toda su obra, que habla de cultura, religión y ciencia, fue póstuma. En vida, sólo publicó algunas notas en medios de comunicación. La carta que vas a escuchar fue extraída del libro “La condición obrera”, que reflexiona sobre la cuestión filosófica y espiritual de la organización del trabajo. Sin embargo, el texto no habla del trabajo. Acá le responde a una ex alumna que le pregunta sobre el amor, sobre amar, sobre conocer a alguien… Ésta es la reflexión de una mente brillante sobre es verbo tan fácil de decir y tan difícil de explicar. El amor es algo grave donde a menudo se corre el riesgo de comprometer para siempre no solo la vida propia sino también la de otro ser humano. Incluso se corre el riesgo siempre, a menos que uno de los dos convierta al otro en su juguete. Pero en este último caso, que es muy frecuente, el amor es algo odioso. Mire, lo esencial del amor consiste, en suma, en que un ser humano se encuentra con una necesidad vital de otro ser; necesidad recíproca o no, duradera o no, según el caso. Por consiguiente, el problema es conciliar semejante necesidad con la libertad, y los hombres se han debatido con este problema desde tiempo inmemorial. Por eso la idea de buscar el amor para ver lo que es, para poner un poco de animación en una vida demasiado monótona, etc... me parece peligrosa y, sobre todo, demasiado pueril. Puedo decirle que cuando yo tenía su edad, y más tarde también, me vino la tentación de conocer el amor. La rechacé diciéndome que era preferible no arriesgarme a comprometer toda mi vida en una dirección imprevisible antes de haber alcanzado un grado de madurez que me permitiera saber exactamente lo que le pido en general a la vida, lo que espero de ella. No le pongo esto como ejemplo; cada vida se desarrolla según sus propias leyes. Pero puede encontrar en ello materia de reflexión. Añado que el amor me parece comportar un riesgo más espantoso aún que el de comprometer ciegamente la propia existencia. Es el riesgo de convertirse en árbitro de otra existencia humana, en caso de que sea profundamente amado. Mi conclusión (que le doy solo a título de indicación) no es que haya que huir del amor, sino que no hay que buscarlo, y sobre todo cuando se es muy joven.
