Welcome to the Black Girl Burn Out podcast with Kelley. Today's episode is all about opting out of lies. Now, lies happen every day, all around us. And if we're being honest, we're probably have told a few. But, today we're not going to focus on the lies that get told to us and the lies we may tell to others. That's coming up in future podcasts. Today, I'm going to talk about the lies that we tell ourselves. Next, I will discuss strategies that will help you to learn how to opt-out of those lies. I want to start by talking about the original lie, about black women being born to struggle, born to suffer, and born to be trapped in a cycle of fighting. For decades black women have been conditioned into believing that we will never experience joy, our true inheritance, and legacy. If you are ready to release these false beliefs from your life, this episode is for you. Let's talk about it.

Welcome to the Black Girl Burn Out podcast with Kelley. Today we are going to talk about opting out of hard work. Specifically, we are going to talk about what I mean when I say “hard work”. We are also going to cover why some types of hard work can be considered toxic. Our goal is to align with doing things that in a manner that flow and bring ease into your daily life. In the past we have discussed toxic hustle culture, which is the belief that you've got to grind, you've got to push, you've got to force yourself to do things. Unfortunately, so much of that messaging keeps us opting into struggle, right? It keeps us always pushing ourselves, not feeling like we are doing something meaningful unless it is difficult, while not feeling like there's any reward. I feel like this toxic hustle myth is slowly killing our culture, particularly killing black women. We are some of the hardest-working people on the planet. We're over-educated compared to other demographics, and we have strong entrepreneurial skills. Many of us have a main hustle and three side hustles or two main hustles. We go, go, go, and we work hard, hard, hard. But not every type of hard work is healthy. It's time to transition into a healthy work mindset. Let's talk about it.

Welcome to the Black Girl Burn Out Podcast with Kelley. Today we're going to talk about how to Opt Into Joy. This episode begins a new three-part series, that is centered around fully aligning with your birthright inheritance of happiness, abundance and joy. It may be difficult at first to accept joy into your life. For Black Women, so often, the depth of the struggle tends to cloud our ability to even hope. However, we no longer have to accept the struggle as the norm. In fact, in this community, our focus is on taking the steps necessary to retrain our mindsets into the understanding that we deserve financial freedom, healthy relationships, and peace within ourselves. Joy to me is a state of being. It is the ability to make meaning of painful events. It is the prioritization of choosing to feel good more than allowing yourself to feel bad. Living a joyful life tends to mean you smile more. And while it's not easy initially to embark on that journey, it is completely possible and unbelievably rewarding when you get there. However, joy is not a one-moment destination. You must keep cultivating it to keep more joy coming back to you, even when you are enduring difficult situations. Here is my question to you, what is holding you back from fully receiving joy into your life? Let's talk about it.

Historically, for black women, competition comes out of a society-driven scarcity mindset. When we open our horizons to fully believe in abundance, it is possible to release the form of scarcity that can result in becoming a prisoner to jealousy-centered competitive ideation. Let's be clear, jealousy is a very common emotion. When we feel threatened by someone who may seem to be doing better than us, feeling jealous is normal. The goal is to transform those feelings into empowering thoughts and actions. Competition has been known to bring out the best in people. However, when rooted in scarcity and fear, it can bring out the worst in us. The good news is that you have the power to choose your reality. Are you ready to release unhealthy competitive energy from your life experience? Let's talk about it.

In a previous episode we discussed opting out of silence, an episode that addressed the fact that black women are more likely to experience domestic and sexual violence. However, this community is all about Opting Out of Struggle. But, that's not what we're talking about today. Today, we're talking about something different. Welcome to the Black Girl Burn Out podcast with Kelley. Today's episode marks the conclusion of this week's 3-part “Know Your Worth “series. Thank you so much for journeying with me. To recap, Jessie Behrman's quote, “When you learn how much you're worth, you'll stop giving people discounts” was established as the anchor concept of this series. We've talked about how to align with your worth in the business /professional realm. Plus, we addressed ways to manage boundaries with friends and family. However, knowing your worth in relationships is especially important. So many times, we go into relationships/partnerships, unaware of our value. Listen, if you don't know your worth your true value, no one else is going to know it either. We often unintentionally project a vibe that we are for sale and at a cheap price. When this happens, we tend to give discounts to people who truly are not worthy of us. Here is my question to you, who are you giving discounts to? Let's talk about it.
