Hi friends, One day in July 2023, I stumbled on a reddit post of someone pouring their soul out, talking about how they transformed their life through small, incremental changes. They started from rock bottom - trauma, nihilistic depression, the whole nine - and was at a point where they had to find a way to... live. I was so compelled to know their story that I messaged them. And that kids, is how this episode was born. Here's all the magic: - How Clarence fell into nihilistic depression - Being autistic, being told you're not good enough - Why Clarence only knew about the pandemic 4 months in - Why do we tend to get more motivation when doing things for others rather than ourselves? - The reason why Clarence became obese after being sexually assaulted - Clarence's process of overcoming his early age speech impedients and what it taught him about communicating with neurotypical people - What can neurotypical people do to understand people with autism - Clarence's encounter with a police officer - What advice would Clarence give to a 15 year old with autism? - Benefits of meditation Above all, Clarence is one of the most genuine and sincere human I've had on this podcast. Gladys here :) Stranger-turned-friend, Ryan, joins the pod this week... all the way from Australia! First off, I could listen to that voice forever. Second off, Ryan goes deep on his chronic illnesses and the hellish journey he went through to get to where he is now. Talking to him was a breath of fresh air. It's rare to find people, let alone 20-somethings that have the level of patience and maturity and self-awareness he has. Oh also, I'm mad that Ryan told me about his erotica fiction writing hobby right towards the end of the pod so stick around for that. Each episode, I'll sit down with a stranger or friend for a totally random and unscripted, but cozy and free-flowing hour of introspection and good fun.  Thank you for tuning in. Can't wait for you to jazz with us. // Convo starts at 2:25 mins // Good day friends!  This week, stranger-turned-friend Rob is bringing the metaphorical (White) house down. Hah, get it?  Not gonna lie, part of me feels uncomfortable and almost reluctant to share this episode. This is the first time I've put a magnifying glass to my deep sense of political apathy and boy, do I feel ashamed. Mostly for feeling like I've dismissed my duty as a responsible citizen.  The other part of me feels re-energized. I left this episode feeling so full of curiosity and an urgent need to educate myself about what exactly is happening in our world today.  And that's what I hope you'll take away from this episode. Not the (possibly) controversial political opinions. Rather, leave with the encouragement to continue questioning the world around you. In this episode, you'll enjoy 5 things (and more!):  1. Why should I care about politics? Why should anyone?  2. Rob's empathy for Donald Trump 3. Which would hurt more - being immoral or being a bad politician? 4. What is a good life to Rob?  5. Are Marvel Movies less valuable than Michelangelo's David? Thanks Rob for turning a light on for me.  And if you enjoyed listening to the podcast, I'd appreciate it if you could take a quick 15-20 seconds to leave a review on Apple Podcast and share this with one friend who might groove with this. Gosh, I'm so excited to share this week's episode with ya'll. I have the wonderfully chaotic, Mel, on with me today. The biggest thing I love about her is how free-spirited she is.
