All great leaders are resilient. The story we'll see shows this. Depending on how we react to an event, we'll see. It is told as a farmer that loses a horse and something is bad. The farmer says, “we'll see.” We really don't know the results or outcome until all the dominoes have fallen. Today, remember to choose resilience over the result. Overcoming the difficulties, adapting to challenging situations is resilience.  There tend to be four elements of resilience. One is responsibility, two is confidence, three is emotional intelligence, and four, competence. It isn't lost that competency is last. The first three can overcome competence.   “To the leaders who get up every morning and reject the notion of making their life all about themselves, this world needs you more than ever.” John Eades   John Eades is the guest host this week on SIngle Serving. Effective leadership is paved with humility and not pride. Today we discuss proactively responsible.  Think of the grasshopper that ate and lived his life reactionary. He confronts the ant that is preparing for winter by storing food for winter. The grasshopper dies from a lack of preparation. The ant thrived from his preparation.  Everyday you should do one thing to prepare for tomorrow and the future. Be ruthlessly responsible for the things that you can control.  Understanding that what you prepare for in the future will also add a sense of accomplishment today.  There are always two things that you can control. You can control your attitude and your effort.   John Eades is the guest host this week on SIngle Serving. Preparation is the key to your success. Great leaders over prepare but do not over think. Today we discuss humility. Have you ever seen a leader just stand and give orders? How many times have you heard lead from the front? Great leaders are on the ground, on the front lines, doing the tasks that their employees, soldiers do everyday. When the difficult times arise, great leaders are there with their team, doing the same. The path to effective leadership is paved with humility and not pride.  Consider Elon Musk sleeping at the factory of Tesla and working the line during the pandemic. C.S. Lewis says this about humility. “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less.”   John Eades is the guest host this week on SIngle Serving. Only leaders who are tested become great. This episode is all about preparation. A little story by Dumas Malone about Thomas Jefferson and his first meeting to decide the organization of the University of Virginia.  Many came forward with their interests and agendas. When Jefferson showed, he had prepared his ideas, budgets, recommended professors, and even architectural drawings. This was done by preparing.  Consider the decisions you make in your life? Do you prepare or rely on past experiences? Past experiences should guide your preparation, not be the sole means of preparation.  “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Benjamin Franklin.  The best leaders are passionate about their preparation process. Consistent preparation is the precursor to performance.  --- John Eades is the guest host this week on SIngle Serving. They lived and worked for their purpose. They never retire because they are always for their purpose, their passion! Finding your purpose, your passion, your desire, can help to alleviate burnout. Sacred Rest is the time to rest your mind, body and spirit. This is an ancient practice that was present in day to day life. This was the sabbath. This was a day of no labor. Today's focus on how to deal with burnout, is dealing with the Productivity Trap.  Oftentimes our career burnout is related to our value being associated with our labor and performance.   We have been conditioned to feel this way. From the good grades, or stickers for our performance during our education, our rewards for chores well done, or even a trophy earned playing sports.   So the association of our worth being related to our productivity is how we feel about ourselves has been a learned trait.   Raises are typically merit based. So we try to be over productive. We do not feel the work we do is enough. We are not worthy of a raise unless we give more of ourselves. This is the productivity trap. This can result in stress, emotionally or physically. It can result in mood swings. Overall it is not a healthy life.   How do we end the trap? What if we decide we are divine and are enough? What if our wealth is not related to work, but that we are simply enough? What if we realize we are worthy by just giving enough and not more?  What is your balance between work and play? This week be sure to play just as hard as you work! ---------- Are you experiencing career fatigue?  Join our Single Serving guest host, Katherine Searcy, for a week on career burnout. ---------- Presented By: Cavalry Audio.  Producers: Jason Seagraves & Margot Carmichael.  Audio Editing: Revision Sound. Today I want to address why urgent is not always urgent. Have you ever received that email at work and feel as though you have to react immediately with a response?  The way you expend your energy, and respond to this can contribute to burnout. You do not always have to actively respond in the moment Many times we feel we have to immediately address the issue or concern What happens if we wait?  Matthew 7:7  states: Ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. We align with a higher power. We have a role and that higher power has a role as well. Remember there is a pause in the middle of Matthew 7:7.  That pause should cause us to see if we are inspired into action instead of reacting.  The next time that phone call, email, or text message arrives, take a pause and see if it inspires you to take action.  ---------- Are you experiencing career fatigue?
