You will steward the church money well and be more creative in your marketing. Many churches scramble to get promotions together at the last minute for an upcoming event, and they end up not seeing the results they want for the investment they make. The promotion package costs more money than it should and stresses everyone involved. SHOW NOTE In this episode, I will be talking about how to promote Christmas or any events. Christmas is this beautiful time of the year where there's a lot of awareness about God the symbolization of Christ revolves around Christmas; we talk about the stories of his birth and his exciting life works. As a church, the goal is to get people to experience the joy of Christmas. I want to help churches plan a Christmas strategy where you can invite your city for a Christmas party, and they're going to show up, not only that but decide to stay and become a member of your church. WHAT IF: imagine Christmas as a tradition in your church and city where people look forward to Christmas not only for this year but years to come. The key to this is to be intentional about Christmas branding. WHAT TO DO 1. Make your Christmas tradition a center of hope This strategy has worked for so many great churches; hope is something people lack during this season. People take a toll after the first three quarters of the year without achieving their goals. What if, as a church, we build a brand around the idea of hope, and the goal is to make people stronger when they walk into our church for the Christmas season. 2. A Time out to celebrate For many people, the Christmas season to be the busiest time of year. The problem people have is their Christmas is so busy and so full, it's stressful. The solution we can provide as a church is a time out! A way to celebrate Christmas is to give a moment with their family and loved ones where they can say, wow, I'm happy to have this little time. If we do this right, we can get people to show up for a traditional Christmas. They see it will be a time to connect, and the church can become a place for the connection. Let's talk about some of the problems people in our community encounter in the Christmas season, 1. People lack hope if you think about it, Hope is something people lack during this season, after the first three quarters of the year without achieving what goals they set up it takes a toll on people. what if as a church we build a brand around the idea of hope and the goal is to make people stronger when they walk in our church for the Christmas season 2. A good call to action for large event promotion is to capture their basic information. Try to get them to give this information so you can follow up with an automated email sequence. An automated email sequence is created once, then is triggered by the action a user takes. Automated email sequences, and emails in general, are a great way to keep engaged with people after the event is over. Build relationships with people. Be intentional about using an event to connect with people and build a relationship. Communicating with people is all about building the relationship. Think about how to get basic information so you can continue to reach out to the people at your event. Use a mix of promotions. An event page is ideal so you can set it up for search engine optimization. Blog posts can be written to reach people who are looking for keywords related to your event. Reach out to news stations to let them know what your church is doing in the community. Post your event on community calendars as well. A good strategy for a big event is to keep a special day special instead of creating interest in a new date; for instance, use holidays. Consider using a Google Grant. Many churches struggle to retain guests from month to month. Dick Hardy joins us to discuss some keys growing churches use to retain visitors. This is a practical conversation revealing methods any church can use to help them grow. Show Notes: As a church grows, it must realize what got them there initially will not get them to the next level. This takes us to our first point in how you can help your church grow while retaining guests. Establish a Clear Vision The structure must be developed to support the growth. A church must get clarity on who they are and where they are going so they can focus on the right things. Have a clear vision to present so other leaders can help the church grow. Get Frequent Feedback A growing church is a church that is constantly evaluating and adjusting. Pay attention to what you are doing on Sundays from the perspective of a new guest. Churches need to survey their guests to learn what the experience was like and surveys and how it can be better. See what people like and what they don't like. At times, pastors resist surveys because of flaky responses, but they must persist to get to the few comments that will help the church improve. Make a Great First Impression A church must be strategic to be friendly to the new person, not just the regular attendees. By default, church members are friendly to those they know but must be friendly to those they don't know as well. A growing church provides small “wow” moments to the guests that surprise them positively. Set a goal to provide 5 great impressions each week for a new guest. Have a System in Place Meeting the pastor after service is a good way to make guests feel welcome. When a guest meets the pastor, there must be a handoff to someone else who can take the conversation further. Then, the church must also encourage guests to get into a small group or serve team so they can make a relational connection. Make it Happen The pastor has to want to retain guests and make the changes necessary to make it happen. However, the responsibility does not stop there. There needs to be a culture of prayer to invite and retain guests. Altogether, when working together and using these methods, you should see a difference in successful church growth.

Pastors have to be intentional about communicating properly to their congregation so things are perceived properly. The church leadership must also be intentional about presenting objectives to the congregation so they can help. Church leadership must also be careful with small details to earn the trust of the community. Be trustworthy. When a church can be trusted, it can be effective in reaching people. Assume people see what is going on. Always act with integrity. If a church does not have integrity, people can sense something is wrong. People want to be able to trust the church to be good stewards of their money. Give them a reason to trust you. Don't just have individual people handling the money; have third parties checking the finances. Some business people are looking for a trustworthy church where they can be generous. Make your church a place where they feel comfortable doing so. Understand your visitors. The biggest thing the church needs is people who love to meet people. Churches must become good at welcoming new people by understanding their discomfort of attending your church. People are looking for a community. Help them feel at home--remember their names. Kids ministry is also one of the main things people look for when searching for a church home. Take the time to really invest in your kid's ministry. Be authentic. Be who God has called you to be as a pastor and as a church. Don't try to be like someone else; lean into your strengths. Your church is attractive when it is genuine and not trying to be something else. Focus on God's unique direction for you.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type="No Line" custom_height="60"][vc_column_text] Links: ReviveaHome.com www.stimulock.com We have new content up every week. How to Get People to Start Serving In Your Church with Dick Hardy (CBG030)

In this episode, we discuss insights about drawing people to involvement in the church with our guest Dick Hardy. All churches face the challenge of moving people from attenders into becoming participators on a serve team or in a small group. We will unpack ideas some churches are seeing work to get people involved. Show Notes: The culture is different now than it was 15 years ago to where you have to engage people differently. There is a business to today's culture. Below, we list some ways that will help you create a healthy culture of volunteers. Equip your volunteers. The church needs to intentionally equip people to get involved in a service team. Make it easy and equip them well when they serve, so they feel valued. Value their time. Time is important to people, so help them add value to others. Ask them to be part of a high-value activity. Don't load the calendar and expect people to show up throughout the week or they will be reluctant to serve. Churches used to have more ministries to grow, but the shift now is to do less and do it well. Show the wins. The church needs to show the wins that take place as a result of the efforts of the people. Be creative to help show the value of their efforts when people volunteer. Tell the stories of people who are impacted by the church so volunteers can see the results of what they are doing. Promote involvement. There are several different ways to easily get people involved. A class is a good way to get everyone on the same page with the mission and core values. It is designed to help people get placed in a ministry that is a good fit for them. Do the class at the most convenient time, which is a Sunday morning. In the class, the church can promote small groups to help people connect with other people. It is recommended that the class be only one day. Pulpit announcements are not a good move to ask for people to fill spots; it communicates to the guests that you don't have your act together. Have a regular flow once a year when you present sermons on involvement. Good times for an involvement focus are September and January The best way to get people involved is for church staff to get on the phone and ask people to serve. Think long-term. Don't be desperate for volunteers; plan for the long haul. Treat your volunteers very well, for they are the greatest asset of the church. If someone says no, keep cultivating them so they can step in when their heart is ready. We have new content up every week.
