The Atlanta Braves passed the mathematical halfway point over the weekend, but it was in the midst of yet another winnable series slipping through their collective fingers. Grant McAuley discusses the biggest stories and headlines from the week that was for the Braves, a week that saw them lose the momentum they'd worked so hard to build with head-to-head success against the formerly first place New York Mets by losing series to the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies. The offensive woes continue to plague the club, while both the starting rotation and bullpen are under more stress than ever to keep the Braves in games. Now seven games under .500 and staring at major deficits in both the division and Wild Card races, the Braves will attempt to make the most of their final two weeks before the All-Star break as they face the Los Angeles Angles, Baltimore Orioles, Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals over the next 12 games. That stretch could ultimately determine what Atlanta's strategy will be for the trade deadline, because failing to win consistently may mean there's no point in bringing in reinforcements this season. Brad Rowland of Hammer Territory joins the show to discuss the Braves at the halfway marker, the loss of Chris Sale, the lost seasons thus far for Michael Harris and Ozzie Albies, and what needs to happen in July to allow Atlanta to pull the nose up on its season. Hear that discussion beginning at 29:20. In the trip around the big leagues, we cover the loss of Dave Parker, the field for the Home Run Derby, Ketel Marte's unfortunate trip to Chicago, and hear the voice of the Pitchcom device courtesy of SNY. And Sam Blum of The Athletic joins to preview the Angels and Braves series that begins on Tuesday. Hear that at 57:58. From The Diamond airs live on 92-9 The Game in Atlanta on Sundays throughout baseball season. You can also subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Every episode of the show and more great Braves coverage is available at FromTheDiamond.com.

How To Build Momentum in Your Fundraise Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. Fundraising has its ups and downs, including long patches of slow-paced activity. Here are some key steps in building momentum for your fundraiser. Always break the total fundraising into smaller rounds. This makes the raise manageable from the start. Do the easy ones first. Investors who know you and believe in the deal will sign up the quickest. With those signups, you now have money in the deal. Use this to spur the momentum to other investors who are not yet ready to invest. Show why the other investors joined the round. Strive to reach the halfway point. From there, the optics on the deal will look better to the prospective investor. The risk of the deal not getting funded goes way down. Build a list of interested and committed investors. Assign an amount to each one and map them out on the remaining portion to be raised. Show all of them how this will close the round. For the remaining investors on the list, give them a deadline and push them to pass. This takes them off your list and lets you focus on closing the interested and committed investors. Thank you for joining us for the Startup Funding Espresso where we help startups and investors connect for funding. Let's go startup something today. _______________________________________________________ For more episodes from Investor Connect, please visit the site at: Check out our other podcasts here: For Investors check out: For Startups check out: For eGuides check out: For upcoming Events, check out For Feedback please contact info@tencapital.group Please , share, and leave a review. What if I told you that you can cultivate an engaged, supportive community of fans around your business where people clamor to buy anything you offer and never leave because your community is such an important part of their lives and identities? My guest, Mark Schaefer is the author of Belonging to the Brand, Why Community is the Last Great Marketing Strategy. In an age of AI and automation where even many global brands are losing market share and relevance, Mark believes that community is the last refuge for preserving our humanity and ensuring brands, businesses, and non-profits stand out. As Mark explains in his book, and as we discussed in this episode, building a community goes way beyond simply amassing a following. Social media followers and casual readers or viewers are a weak relational link. According to Mark Schaefer, the real magic happens when you're able to bring people together so they connect to one another and find a sense of belonging within your brand community. Once you create a community, your organization becomes a home for your audience – a place where they find meaning. And, a sense of meaning is often what is missing from many people's lives today. For all of our technological advancements and social progress, many people feel lonely or socially isolated. As Mark says in his book, we humans are “wired for community,” which can be hard to find in a world that is so virtual and where remote work is common. The demand for community has, perhaps, never been greater than at any time in human history. If you can help fulfill your audience's need for belonging and community, then you will acquire a tribe of loyal supporters and repeat customers. According to Mark's thesis, which I believe is correct, building a community is how organizations can make the greatest impact and drive the biggest outcomes if they're willing to put in the time and work into making their community grow. Creating a community requires long-term thinking and an investment of time and energy, but it will pay off for those who commit to it, as Mark explains on the podcast and in his book. In this conversation, Mark and I spoke about the importance of community from both a marketing and a sociological perspective. He also shared interesting case studies of people who found success by building communities around their brands. From a business and marketing standpoint, having your own community on an owned channel also strengthens your brand long-term, dramatically increases customer loyalty and retention, and lessens your reliance on the whims of social media algorithms and changing markets. In this episode, we discussed his “Belonging to the Brand,” published in 2022, but you should also check out his new book that just came out, "Audacious: How Humans Win in an AI Marketing World." Community-Led Monitoring has been on the rise in the HIV response. Known as CLM for short, it's a tactic being championed and implemented to ensure that communities play a direct role in monitoring and improving HIV services. This episode of PxPulse: The Advocacy Chronicles puts a spotlight on CLM in Malawi, where civil society and communities are successfully using CLM to connect government decision makers to gaps in HIV services and to what people really need. Thanks to persistent advocacy, both PEPFAR and Global Fund now recognize, through their funding, the critical role of CLM. David Kamkwamba, a journalist and health advocate and the former chair of the Civil Society Advocacy Forum on HIV and related diseases (CSAF), tells us what advocates have accomplished in Malawi and just how they did it. CSAF and AVAC are partners in the Coalition to Build Momentum, Power, Activism, Strategy & Solidarity (COMPASS) which has supported extensive work on community-led monitoring in Malawi and across the region.
