In this episode, we talk about the practical tactics we actually use to sell our art and make money as artists. This is not a mindset episode. We briefly acknowledge the shame, fear and awkwardness artists often carry around selling, but then we go all in on what we are doing right now: calls to action, repeating yourself, creating urgency, using scarcity ethically, building trust, newsletters, podcasts, websites, pre-orders, multiple income streams, hand-selling, word of mouth, and making it easier for people to buy the things you make.We talk about why creative business is different from traditional business, why selling art is not like selling toasters, and why artists need to stop assuming people will magically know what to do next. If you want people to buy your work, you have to show them the door. Then you have to show them again. And again. And again.Order Amie's book We Need Your Art: https://www.amiemcnee.com/order-we-need-your-art-book-amie-mcneeRead Amie's Substack: https://substack.com/@amiemcnee

Favour Obasi-ike, MBA, MS redefines profitable SEO as more than just rankings — it is profit multiplied by time. He introduces the concept of a foundational evergreen operating system: being where people are, staying ever-ready, and building connections that compound. The episode covers the SEO quadrant and its four pillars, why your contact database is your most valuable SEO asset, and how first-party data from email lists outperforms second-party data from platforms like LinkedIn, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts. Jonathan shares how NewsBreak and Medium drive backlinks and high domain authority, while Dr. Martin highlights the BlackNews.com story — a site built in 1999 on pure HTML that became the top black news site in the world because Google could easily crawl it. Favour performs a live Semrush audit, explains authority scores, and breaks down how commercial-intent articles like "top 10" lists build domain dominance the way Yelp does. The conversation also covers the new FTC rule on fake reviews, why your website must be the cornerstone of all marketing, and how SEO is ultimately about being the person of remembrance.Book SEO Services? Meet our guest Victor Varnardo, who discusses his career evolution from a comedian and actor to a producer and entrepreneur. Victor explains that he initially sought to become an actor but pivoted to writing and producing to overcome being typecast due to his albinism, eventually deciding to focus solely on his art and transforming it into a viable business.Throughout the conversation, Victor Varnado shares insights from working with celebrities like Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and highlights the importance of an entrepreneurial mindset for artists, particularly emphasizing the value of gaining people's attention and using platforms like Amazon Direct Publishing for passive income.Victor's career began with roles in major movies alongside stars like Eddie Murphy and Arnold Schwarzenegger. But early success came with a creative ceiling. The entertainment industry saw him through a narrow lens, limiting the roles he was offered. As Victor explains, being "a black person with albinism... that was the extent of how people looked at me and wanted to cast me."Faced with being typecast based on his physical appearance, he made a pivotal decision: he would take control of his own narrative by writing and producing. This path led him from artist to entrepreneur, driven not just by ambition, but by the necessity of building a world that would showcase his talent, not just his difference. He had to transform his creative passion into a sustainable business to gain the freedom he craved."I wanted to spend all day just being creative and following my curiosity. And in order to do that, I had to turn my art into a business."This episode breaks down the core business principles Victor used to make this transition. These lessons offer a simple and understandable blueprint for any aspiring creator looking to build a career on their own terms.Thank you for listening to this episode.Visit Victor's Website @ SupremeRobot.com hereBuy The Anti-Racism Activity Book on Amazon here--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Next Steps for Digital Marketing + SEO Services:>> Need SEO Services? In this episode, I talk about the concept that growth is not linear—it comes with ups and downs, and it's essential to approach your dental practice with a proactive, long-term mindset. As the dental industry often reacts rather than leads, this episode emphasizes the importance of shifting from a reactive to a proactive approach, especially in the face of economic uncertainty. Whether we're in a recession or not, the key takeaway is to remain thoughtful and strategic in your business decisions. I also shared that understanding and anticipating economic trends can help your practice thrive, even in challenging times. When Kelly Diels, a feminist entrepreneur, faced an internal crisis of having to use business tactics in direct conflict with her principles, she had to find a creative way to do business in a way that honored her values, her team, and the collective. Kelly is a feminist educator, writer, and coach specializing in feminist marketing for culture makers. She works to raise awareness about how business-as-usual formulas reproduce oppression and develops alternate feminist marketing tools to help us do better. A feminist since she was eleven, Kelly went on to study political philosophy, so when she became an entrepreneur, she immediately realized the conflict between her personal beliefs and the business tactics she was being taught. After a personal breakdown and going through a start-stop cycle of trying to build something that was in conflict with her values, she realized that economic justice meant everyone in the equation needed to be flourishing. She now works with people who have non dominant identities to help them understand and navigate the conditioning and trauma that comes up when challenging the status quo. Kelly believes that tending to one's emotions and nervous system is essential for success. In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. How to Balance Principles and Business Tactics to Achieve Success 2. What is Economic Justice, and How to Create It in Businesses 3. How Economic Justice Helps Everyone Thrive 4. Kelly's Three-Part Framework for Economic Justice 5. What Strategies are Needed to Create Demand and Generate Leads as Culture-Makers [2:10] How Kelly came to this work [4:23] Why many teaching methods don't work for every identity [5:15] What is economic justice [7:34] How not taking care of ourselves undermines the collective [8:18] Why asking “how can I make this more affordable” is asking the wrong question [9:56] Making the numbers work [11:28] Cultural conditioning and how doing the math supports our nervous system [14:14] The power of somatic practices and therapy [17:17] Money and feelings of survival [19:24] Creating demand as culture-makers [21:15] Business systems and The Flywheel [23:16] Entrepreneurship and chronic illness [26:24] The onus of change doesn't rest solely on our shoulders [29:05] The power and challenge of being the “first, the few, or the only” [31:21] The power of community care [35:24] How employees can be participants in economic justice [38:54] How culture makers and historically excluded folks can leverage their ambition to pave the way Quotes "If you have a non-dominant identity and you're supposed to be signaling authority, you're going to get punished for that online. So what I think economic justice is, is that every human has the resources they need to flourish." “Vulnerability is the opportunity for relationship. This episode explains “How Midsize Companies Can Use Data to Compete with the Digital Giants.” The pandemic has hit midsize companies hard and rewarded Amazon and the other digital giants. Many midsize business leaders look at the growth of those giants and worry that there's no place for them to prosper. In fact, there's a large, wide-open playing field for incumbent firms to reposition. The key to your midsize company's survival in the post-pandemic period is to use the data you have readily available to identify your profit peaks and profit drains and strategically align your organization around your profit core to build dominance in your target market segments. This episode offers three steps that will provide a proven pathway to sustained, defensible profit growth in the post-pandemic period and throughout the era beyond. This episode is based on a recent article that John Wass and I wrote in Harvard Business Review.
