This week we are starting a 12 week Super Deep Dive into Evolving Your Life We are talking about evolving your mind, body, money, business, and lifestyle. 20 years of mentors, contacts, connections....sharing with you the success secrets... ...the success clues that create the greatest change. Topic Today: 10 Brain Tips to Keep You from Getting Frustrated or Fed Up from the Amen clinic and Doctor Daniel Amen...best selling author. Problem: So many people are dealing with Depression & Anxiety or Health Issues that are caused by the brain and not optimizing this amazing tool. Today I want to talk to you about ways you can optimize your brain/mind on a daily basis. Here is the Challenge & Questions to Ask Yourself? Are you taking care of your mind...your brain...your body? What specifically are you doing and what can you do better? What types of problems or symptoms are you having that might improve your overall life with a little focus and attention to your brain? Solution: 10 Brain Tips to Keep You (and your kids) From Getting Frazzled, Frustrated, or Fed Up 1. Look for the positive. The human brain is hardwired for negativity. Tip: Train your brain to look for successes. 2. Fuel your brain. Feed your brain high-quality foods and start the day with some protein for better focus and energy. Amen- Brain is comprised of 80% water, and being even mildly dehydrated can negatively impact your moods—making you feel more anxious, tense, depressed, or angry—in addition to sapping your energy levels and lowering your ability to concentrate. Tip: Drinking a gallon of water daily will change your life. 3. Exercise to boost blood flow to the brain. Brain uses 20% of the oxygen and blood flow in your body. Anything that impairs blood flow hurts your brain and impairs function. Exercise enhances moods, reduces stress and anxiety, and increases focus and energy. Tip: Daily Rituals in morning of exercise help you win the day. 4. Create a physical space for work and school. Train your brain by setting up physical boundaries. Tip: Do not take work into the bedroom at night or it will impact your rest. 5. Give your brain a break. The ideal amount of time to work on a single task is 75-90 minutes, Learn to Time Block Critical Tasks around these 90 min blocks. Take mini breaks. Tip: This does not mean TV or Social Media Break... 6. Share the load. Community, Mentoring, Personal Trainers, Friends, and Family all help to lower stress, anxiety and overwhelm. Tip: Join a small masterminds, groups or attend networking events... 7. Practice mental hygiene. In a pandemic, mental hygiene is just as important as washing your hands. Amen Clinics calls these ANTs (automatic negative thoughts) that steal your happiness. Sometimes naming items helps to identify and eliminate negative thoughts. Tip: This week try to Recognize your negative patterns or thoughts immediately when they happen. 8. Encourage active listening at home (and work). Learn to listen first and then repeat back what you heard. It helps others feel "heard" and also helps to clarify and eliminate any miscommunications. Tip: In business this is a great way to help others feel you are listening and respect and loyalty and performance... 9. Tell your brain it's time to relax. At the end of the day, learn to shut down your mind...super super difficult I know...I've been there. Find activities, boundaries and even rituals that help you shut down your mind...like journaling, meditation, music, etc. I find it really helpful to list what is on my mind for tomorrow so it helps you to let it go easier. Tip: I've spoken about the idea of the Corporate Athlete…meaning the growth is in the recovery not the stress... 10. Stick to a sleep schedule. Amen Clinics suggests- While you're sleeping, your brain is hard at work performing some very critical functions necessary to keep it operating at optimal levels. For example, during sleep, your brain cleans or washes itself by eliminating cellular debris and toxins that build up during the day (basically taking out the neural trash), consolidates learning and memory, and prepares for the following day. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends that children ages 6-12 get 9-12 hours and teenagers 13-18 years old get 8-10 hours of sleep each night. Adults should aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Adequate sleep improves attention, behavior, learning, memory, emotional regulation, quality of life, moods, and mental health. Tip: Create a sleep routine for yourself and your children and stick to it. Anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, and other mental health conditions are real and it does not help to just avoid or sweep them under the rug. Find ways to take your #1 Asset (your brain) and turn it into a super power and ultimate tool for growth...practice self care. I think it is so important for us to remember that we are not our minds. Our brain is a tool and like anything else, you MUST keep it sharp, clean and focused. I highly recommend any of Dr Amens books on Mental Health and Brain health and he also has an incredible podcast that he and his wife do which gives you small nuggets of health and nutrition information as well as activities for the brain and life in general. I'll leave the link to this article and his podcast in my show notes…. Thanks for listening. Today we catch up with Dr. Eyun Jung Ki, a professor in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations. Young Eyun Jung thought she wanted to be a teacher, like a K-12 teacher, but after taking just one class in public relations in college, she knew she had found her calling. She's been at the University of Alabama for over 15 years teaching courses in public relations and studying the way new and emerging media technologies can be used to improve communication, especially during times of crisis. She tells us more about how social media has really changed the way businesses, companies and people have had to react in times of crisis because the window of opportunity to get information out there is much shorter. She tells us how in public relations, the way a company or individual communicates about crisis can ultimately make or break public perceptions about everything moving forward. Join us for this very fun and enlightening conversation with Dr. Eyun Jung Ki! To follow us on Twitter: @ICIRAlabama

Season 2 of Be Empactful podcast was supposed to be completed on 26-Oct-21 with the release of the 10th episode. But Host Bee Shiva is missing in action and the finale episode will be released on 2-Nov-21. When we started this podcast series the idea was to debunk the myth about Strategy both Marketing & Community. The purpose is to enable the decision-makers to invest in Strategy first & then Execution to scale. The myth about Community Strategy is associated with social enterprise and here we are discussing incorporating it as a Business Strategy for long-term growth. In Season 1, we covered the fundamentals of Marketing & Community strategy. We received feedback that it is too bookish or theoretical. In Season 2, we focused on #sustainability & #resilience and interviewed a few founders who put people & the planet first which led them to build profitable businesses and create impact. One of the major feedback received from Vineet's prospective client on the consulting proposal is that it's too expensive whereas from the first State of Indian Community Management 2021 report the pricing is well within the range of what a professional with relevant experience would charge. Two important factors to be noted: Communication Executive Buy-In During the 3-4 days of deep work in the last week, I have ideated the service that anyone who wants to talk about Community, Community Strategy & Community Building could pick my brain for an hour for a small consulting fee. This helps in lowering the adoption barrier with minimal commitment and gets prospects to get and stay invested for the long term. Here's the TIP: Create a product or service for your enterprise which has a low adoption barrier and gets prospects invested. Lets us know your thoughts and share them with us. In this episode of Start With A Win, Adam and SWAW producer Mark pick up the conversation about Adam's first authored book, Start With A Win: Tools and Lessons to Create Personal and Business Success. Adam covers the main takeaways from chapters two, three, and four. He explains how experiencing both successes and failures is necessary for personal and professional growth. Failures serve as learning opportunities, while challenges develop opportunities to create success or learning moments. Adam outlines the two questions you should always ask yourself as a leader:1) How do we create an environment in which people want to perform at their highest levels?Tip: Create a trusting environment where it's okay to fail. 2) How do you unlock potential instead of pushing others to barely get by?Tip: When it comes to performance and earning wins, pushing others creates resistance. Encouragement and enthusiasm result in increased drive, efforts, and performance. Adam discusses how fear is the reason why people do not try to pursue new endeavors or challenges. This mental roadblock creates self-limiting beliefs, hesitation, self-doubt, often resulting in imposter syndrome. Adam breaks down the concept of fear as an inner beast that resides in everyone. The first step to overcoming fear requires acknowledging and befriending the beast, which requires self-love and acceptance. As a leader, it is crucial to be a sponge for knowledge—learn from others, nurture your mind—and reciprocate that wisdom to others.Pre-order your copy of Start With A Win: Tools and Lessons to Create Personal and Business Success:https://www.amazon.com/Start-Win-Lessons-Personal-Business/dp/1119807077https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/start-with-a-win-adam-contos/1138838681https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/start-with-a-win-tools-and-lessons-to-create-personal-and-business-success_adam-contos/28078881/#edition=58850831&idiq=46017298Connect with Adam:https://www.startwithawin.com/https://www.facebook.com/REMAXAdamContoshttps://twitter.com/REMAXAdamContoshttps://www.instagram.com/REMAXadamcontos/ Leave us a voicemail:888-581-4430

Every healthcare provider I know complains about the hassles associated with their EHR charting. When you're an employed physician, you basically get stuck using whatever software your employer has purchased, and it's super easy to complain about something that you have no control over. But when you are the practice owner, you choose the EHR--an admittedly overwhelming process. And before we get started, let me explain the difference between EMR and EHR. EMR stands for electronic medical record. Restated, this is your note. EHR stands for Electronic health record. This includes all sorts of other documents including lab and imaging results, notes from other providers and all sorts of miscellaneous documentation. 1. Determine whether you want an EHR that's enterprise or cloud based. enterprise-based Enterprise-based EHRs live on your server or servers in your officeDo you have a server? How much does a server cost? What happens when the server goes down? Do you have in-house IT person for when your server isn't working?Cloud based EHR sits in the cloud and can be accessed from any device. You don't need a server. You need a stable internet connectionBandwidth and internet speed affect performanceThere are obvious differences in the costs between enterprise- and cloud-based products but the cost differences may not be as great as you would initially think. Tip: Create a spreadsheet so that you can compare all of the costs. What type of infrastructure do you need and what does that cost? (Servers vs. wiring for the fastest internet connection)Cost of the internet service with the bandwidth needed to run a cloud-based program. What is the purchase price? And what does that include? For the enterprise-based is there a yearly maintenance fee? Costs associated with cloud based—how much do you pay per month? Is it by user? How often do they raise their prices? 2. Determine whether you want a standalone EHR and standalone Practice Management Software or an integrated product. EHR and Practice Management Software are not the same thing.EHR--all of the clinical infoPractice Management--the business side of medicine Eligibility, prior authorization, billing, and patient statementsScheduling can be part of EHR and/or Practice Management SoftwareAnd you need both in order for your practice to function. Deciding whether you want an enterprise based system or cloud based system and whether you want a standalone EHR with standalone Practice Management software vs. an integrated product will have the biggest impacts on your budget and workflow. These decisions will also guide your consideration of specific vendors and their products. This episode breaks down the process of how to move your show (podcast) from one podcast hosting company to another without losing any subscribers. Topics covered in this episode: What is a podcast host? What is a podcast directory? What is an RSS Feed? What is a 301 Redirect? How do you move your show without losing subscribers? What is a podcast host? When you start podcast, one of the major decisions you will make is where to host your show. There are many podcast hosts available but some of the more popular ones include: Simplecast. Where I work full-time on the product support and content team. Others hosting companies include: Libsyn Blubrry Podbean BuzzSprout Spreaker Soundcloud Anchor What do podcast hosting platforms do? Overview of Podcast Hosts: 1. Audio File Storage & Delivery 2. Generate your RSS Feed 3. Publishing & Syndication to directories. Audio File Storage & Delivery To store your audio files and serve them to listener devices when someone clicks play or download from a podcast app or an embed player or anywhere your podcast episodes can be accessed. Generate your RSS Feed which is the link between your show and subscribers and to all of the podcast apps and directories. Every podcast has one unique RSS Feed and that usually only changes when you change podcast hosts. Note: Your RSS Feed is not always generated at the location where you store your audio files. When moving a show, you will do so wherever your RSS Feed is located and not necessarily where your audio files are stored. My original set up was using the Powerpress plugin by Blubrry on my Wordpress website and I hosted my audio files for download only on the podcast host, Libsyn. If your RSS Feed was generated by Powerpress, then that is the location where you would redirect your feed. Ask if you are not certain. Publishing and Syndication To Directories. Podcast hosts make it possible for you to create and publish new episodes much like creating a blog post on a website. When you publish new episodes or make edits to already published episodes, your podcast hosting platform connects your RSS feed to the podcast directories such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora so your show will always be updated automatically. This process of publishing and then updating everywhere automagically is possible because of the RSS Feed and this process is called syndication. Additional roles of podcast hosts: Analytics, websites, sharing tools, embed players, and some even have world-class support! What is a Podcast Directory? A podcast directory is simply a library or catalog of podcasts where one can browse, listen, and subscribe to new shows. Major Podcast Directories: Apple Podcasts Spotify Google Podcasts Google Play Pandora iHeart Radio TuneIn Stitcher When you start a new show, you submit your RSS feed to as many of these directories as possible to get your show listed. You only have to submit your show one time and when you publish new episodes they all get updated as we learned earlier because of your RSS Feed and the power of syndication. Tip: Create an Apple Note or Text document and copy the URL for each directory listing for your own show. What is an RSS Feed?: RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. (Wikipedia) When you set up a new podcast you will get a unique RSS Feeds for your show. This is usually done by the podcast host. If you set up your show on your Wordpress website and use the Powerpress plugin or maybe you are podcasting through a Squarespace website, your RSS Feed will be generated and managed at your website. Wherever you publish new episodes and manage the details about your show such as titles, descriptions, show art etc, is typically where your RSS feed is located. An RSS Feed looks like any other hyperlink or URL, but it is actually a text document filled with code. If you click on it, it will not take you to your podcast, but will only show you a bunch of code. The code is full of all the information about your podcast along with special metadata tags that can be read by podcast apps such as Apple Podcasts or Overcast. The RSS Feed is what you submit to the podcast directories, but it is not the link you share to post on websites or social media channels. Once you submit your show to the directories, it generally works behind the scenes. Podcast directories mirror everything that is in the RSS Feed. When you make a change at your podcast host or wherever your RSS Feed originated, your RSS Feed updates as soon as you press Save or publish. When your RSS Feed changes, the podcast directories will see the changes the next time they refresh and the changes get updated wherever your podcast has been submitted. Every podcast has one RSS Feed and it will not typically change unless you move your show to another hosting company. Tip: Copy your RSS Feed URL to an Apple Note or text document so you always have it handy if you discover a new directory to submit to or for reference when you are ready to move your show to a new hosting platform. What is a 301 Redirect? A redirect is a way to send both users and devices to a different URL from the one they originally requested. A 301 Redirect is one of the most common types of redirects and a 301 is permanent. When you create a 301 Redirect for your podcast RSS feed when a listener device or app looks for your old RSS Feed, they get forwarded or redirected to your new RSS Feed and because it is permanent, they will never look for the old RSS feed again (in theory). The 301 Redirect is how you can move your show without losing subscribers. The 301 Redirect should also update many of the apps and directories, but you should check each directory and manually update the directories if they are still referencing your old RSS Feed. Warning: The 301 Redirect is also how you will lose all of your hard-earned subscribers if you do not take your time and do it right. Ask if you need help or not sure how to do it. Creating a 301 Redirect is easy, but if you do not do it correctly, it is possible you could lose all of your subscribers and they would have no idea. How To Move Your Show (Step-by-Step) Tip: Always subscribe to your own show in Apple Podcasts and other mobile apps as you want to know exactly what your subscribers are experiencing and new episodes and changes to your show always happen much faster for subscribers, so it is the best way to monitor your show Tip: Export your analytics data and copy any information you want for your records from your old podcast host. You will not be able to import your old analytics data to your new hosting company. Every podcast host is a little different, but here is a typical scenario. I will use Simplecast as a guide since I know the process best for importing a new show: Import RSS Feed to Podcast Host: Setup a trial account on your new hosting platform. Paste your original RSS Feed to import your show. (This will only make a copy of your show and will not affect your podcast in the directories and it is not linked to your original host). Enter Billing Information (credit card) Select the subscription plan you want to be on at the end of the trial period. New RSS Feed. Once your show has been imported and billing setup, you will have access to a new RSS Feed. 301 Redirect. When you have tested your new podcast host and are ready to ‘officially migrate’ your show from your old host to your new host, it is time to set up the 301 Redirect. This is the final step as once you do the 301 Redirect, you will no longer be publishing on your old host and will start publishing new episodes on your new host. All clear? Where do you do the 301 Redirect? The 301 Redirect will always take place at the source of your original or old RSS Feed. You will paste in your new RSS Feed in the 301 Redirect field of your old host. The 301 Redirect will permanently forward your old RSS Feed to your new RSS Feed and this process takes effect immediately. Keep your old account open for up to 4 weeks just to be sure the Redirect has had enough time, but you will notice the redirect happening right away. Your old RSS Feed is no longer active once you create the 301 Redirect. How you know if the 301 Redirect is working? Open a web browser. Paste your old RSS Feed into the address bar. If the redirect is working properly, your new RSS Feed should open in the browser. 5.Update The Directories Apple Podcasts and the other major directories and apps should update automatically once they look for your old RSS Feed, but to expedite the process and to make sure all of the directories are looking at your new feed, it is a good idea to manually update as many directories as possible. Some directories may require you to fill out an RSS Update form, but many directories such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Stitcher have portals where you can update your RSS Feed manually. Apple Podcasts is your priority as so many little directories pull the RSS Feed from Apple Podcasts. One thing you can do if you are hesitant or not sure if you want to manually enter your new RSS Feed is to log into Apple Podcasts Connect and click ’Refresh Feed’ and it should change to your new feed in about 20–30 minutes. Log back in to Apple Podcasts Connect and make sure you see your new RSS Feed in the URL field. If you do not, paste in your new RSS Feed and save. 6 . Update Web Players (some cases) If you have a website with embed players from your old host, you will need to replace the embed codes with your new host embed player codes. 7 .Publish New Episodes! Once you set the 301 Redirect and have updated the directories, it’s time to start publishing new episodes on your new host. You have officially moved your show and did not lose any subscribers. For the first few episodes, just keep an eye on all of the directories and make sure new episodes are showing up. Tip: Always subscribe to your own show in your mobile podcast apps. Directories can take a few hours to update when you publish new episodes or make changes, but subscribers will often get the updates in near real-time. Force quit your Apple Podcasts app and re-open if you are not seeing updates after some time and starting to get impatient.
Today we are going to talk about 8 Ideas to Help You Work Smarter and Not Harder. Do you think working harder will get you farther? Not necessarily. In this fast-paced society, many professionals are already running at full tilt, so going faster may lead to burn-out, or worse, complete physical and emotional shutdown. So how do you get more done without working harder? This is key to work life balance success. Let's take a look at these 8 ideas for working smarter, not harder. 1. Leverage Your Strengths, Delegate the Rest For optimal results, focus on the tasks that leverage your strengths. The goal with any successful business or project is to assign the team member that can deliver the best results with the least effort and greatest effectiveness. If you want to make an easier go at it, know your strengths and focus on performing only the tasks that leverage those strengths. TIP: To download a Free Delegation List Sample to help you identify more activities to delegate, go to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/delegation-list-sample/. 2. Filter Your Info Intake On any given day, you are bombarded with mass amounts of information that can significantly drag down your productivity and cause confusion, overwhelm, and procrastination. Data is essential for making informed decisions, but beware of information overload. Only take in the information that is vital to achieving your goals and the goals of your firm – everything else is superfluous. TIP: Delegate the biggest information sources (email, research, data collection, data entry, etc.) to a team member or a consulting firm. Limit your information exposure to only the pertinent sources, while the team takes on the responsibility of flagging important information for your select review and firm growth. 3. Streamline Your Daily Duties Do not try to do it all yourself. The ability to focus your energy on the most important tasks of the day has a direct effect on the quality of the results. Therefore, it's vital that you streamline your daily duties to only the most important tasks that require your focused attention, and those things that only you can do and can't be done by someone else. TIP: Create a daily schedule of the most important and highest payoff tasks of the day – and stick to it (not always easy but critical to your success). Reduce and eliminate the non-essential duties (the tasks that are either not in alignment with your core values and/or are not income-generating) from your daily schedule. Take advantage of the high-content Free Webinars to help you be even more effective at time management and more by going to: https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/free-articles/free-webinars/. 4. Recognize Stress Signals The mind and body require rest and nutrition for peak performance. While many of us convince ourselves that working harder is the only way to get ahead, it may not produce the desired results. Take breaks, enjoy personal time, and tend to your well-being is important to overall life success. Sometimes a little rest can significantly increase productivity. TIP: Listen to your body. Pay attention to your energy level. Pushing harder to make things happen may only make the process more frustrating and even exhausting. If working harder doesn't feel right, give yourself permission to take a break. Be it 15 minutes or 1 hour, recognizing your stress signals can help you know when your body and mind need rest. You will perform better and more effectively when you have all your positive energy flowing. 5. Create Just Enough Pressure How many times have you procrastinated on getting something done only to cram the day or night before it was due? Creating just enough pressure may be the “tipping point” that you believe creates the focus you need to reach peak-productivity. TIP: Pay attention to what drives you to complete a task. Does it require a non-pressured, open-space environment with lots of time? Or some-what of a high-pressured environment to get you into action? Are you typically someone who likes to “go where the flow takes you” or do you prefer to “plan every step” far in advance? What approach produces the best results with the least amount of stress for you? Could you plan ahead even better to get things done without being last minute? 6. Maximize High Energy Cycles Following your body's natural energy cycles can help you produce better results with less effort. For instance, some people prefer to get in a healthy workout before they start their day, while others may prefer to exercise in the afternoon. Perhaps you are more sharp, on your toes, and energetic first thing in the morning. Maybe you typically get a burst of energy in the afternoon? Or perhaps you do your best work burning the midnight oil? Follow your natural energy cycles to produce the best results with the least amount of effort is ideal. TIP: Do the tasks that require the most energy and focus during your peak energy cycle. Schedule it – and follow what you have put on your calendar in order to be in the highest probability position to achieve your goals. 7. Organize and Systematize The goal with any business or profession is to produce the best results with the greatest amount of efficiency and effectiveness. Working smarter, not harder is all about systems. Systems create reliable pathways to handle business transactions and daily duties in an organized and efficient manner. Many firms don't enforce the creation of systems and processes for all jobs performed. Many team members push back by saying they don't have enough time to create them and thinking this is their job security. TIP: Create systems for everything so that you and your team can process everything from business prospects to client projects. Systems are necessary to: reduce work time, improve client results, grow your business or clientele, increase profits, reduce expenses, improve overall productivity, and support work/life balance. Successful firms have very specific and detailed systems and processes for all tasks performed by all team members. Have someone test each process to ensure they actually work, is a very good idea. 8. Start with the End in Mind Clarity of a desired goal is a catalyst for the straight path to success. You must be clear about the desired end result before you begin any task. This creates the straightest and shortest path to where you want to be. If you are going to invest your valuable time on anything you want to create the highest probability for your success. TIP: It's really a no-brainer. Have a very clear picture – I suggest you outline details on paper (or on your computer) – of the end result. Now break that goal down into sizable chunks. Keep working backwards (end result ---> steps to take now) until you have a general idea of the direction you're going before you get moving. Before taking action, ask yourself this simple question: “What's the next logical step?” or “What can I do, right now, to move closer to the desired end result?” Remember, creating better results isn't always about working harder. Points of struggle or frustration are opportunities to explore easier ways to produce what you desire. Focus and continual action in the right direction will help you work smarter, not harder. As a business owner, it's important to recognize how valuable your time is - and how you choose to spend it. Yes, the bookkeeping is important, and so is voice-mail and email, but those tasks are not directly responsible for generating revenue, and are better left to be managed by someone else. Are you guilty of focusing on the less important (low-payoff) tasks when you should be actively engaged with the most important (high-payoff) tasks? If you have ever been guilty of this, continue listening to discover four common self-sabotaging habits that keep business owners from the revenue and success they want and deserve. 1. Wasting Time on Low-Payoff Tasks As the business owner, you are a valuable piece of the revenue-generating and business development puzzle. If you are sitting at a desk spending the majority of your time on low-payoff tasks, you don't have the time to focus upon the most important part of your business: generating revenue. Would you hire a $100-an-hour team member to do a $20-an-hour task? Not likely. This is the same reasoning behind why you shouldn't be the company bookkeeper or receptionist. (This is not to say that these tasks are not important, but they are not directly related to driving immediate revenue; hence, they are low-payoff tasks). Your sole focus should be upon the high-payoff tasks, aka. the revenue-generating tasks. All low-payoff tasks should be completely removed from your schedule and delegated to a virtual assistant or team member so you can focus your energy on the high-payoff tasks. TIP: Doing low payoff activities are what I call revenue generating avoidance activities. You may not like doing some revenue generation and business development activities, but you may be the best and maybe the only person to do it and get it done. 2. Ignoring High-Payoff Tasks Do you know what you need to be doing to boost revenue - but you're not doing it or doing it on a consistent basis? Perhaps the fear of doing tasks outside your comfort zone is stopping you from doing the very thing that will make all the difference in your business revenue and ultimate success? Let's be clear: if you own your own business, you must become very astute at recognizing, and completing, the high-payoff tasks or you will soon be out of business. Let's say you're the creative genius type; the sales part of your business isn't your thing. You could hire a sales team to help drive in some sales, but at some point you're going to have to tackle the very thing that scares you. It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone and conquer the things that scare you, but you can do it. To help conquer the fear, focus on the process of learning how to master your craft. Just as you mastered the creative genius, you can master the business development and revenue generation, too. TIP: Mastering your high-payoff tasks is more important than you think because once you master the high-payoff tasks; you are in a much higher probability position to achieve your goals in the time frame you have set. 3. Lacking Intimate Knowledge of Your Business In this case, ignorance is not bliss. In order to create a successful, profitable business, you must have intimate knowledge of your business (including where the majority of your revenue originates or could originate). If you don't - you're going to continue to struggle with generating the level of revenue you want and deserve. Get to know your business as intimately as you would a partner, learning its quirks, perks, strengths and weaknesses. Accentuate the strengths, while committing to work on the weaknesses. Commit to continual learning so you are on top of potential opportunities. Technology advancements move fast and you need to keep up to stay in the game. TIP: Think of your business as a valuable partner: the more you know about it, the better you can maintain a healthy relationship. Explore what makes it tick, where it could use some extra help or counseling, and commit to being the best partner you can. 4. Failure to Follow-Up Although it's mentioned lastly here, failure to follow-up is one of the top self-sabotaging habits in business. Sometimes the only thing separating you from a new or repeat client is the follow-up. A simple email or phone call could boost business revenue with little effort. Essentially, it comes down to letting a prospective client know how you can help them - and asking for the business. Personalized follow-up can be time consuming when not managed properly, so create automated systems to follow up with every lead, prospect and client that comes into your world. From collecting business cards to building your mailing list from website visitors to staying connected to past clients - everything point of contact should have a follow-up system. TIP: Create a Tiered-Follow-Up System. For instance, let's say the first follow-up or follow-ups to “cold” leads could be labeled 1st Tier that can be delegated to a virtual assistant or team member. If your personal attention is requested or required at a later time, the follow-up could be escalated to 2nd Tier that's handled personally by you. Reserve your personal attention for only the ideal prospects, all other low-payoff follow-up should be automated or handled by staff. Don't let the demands of running your own business distract you from success. Be aware of sabotaging habits that prevent you from boosting the revenue necessary to take your business, and life, to the next level. Growing your business is often a lesson in letting go and focusing. It's about letting go of the low-payoff tasks, so you have the mental space and time to focus on high-payoff tasks. If you haven't heard, Instagram is the hottest and fastest growing social network out there and it makes sense for you to be there. Most people are posting on their feed, less than half of those are using stories and an even smaller amount are using Instagram ads. We're here to help you crush the competition by using Instagram ads. Native - The first thing you need to do is make sure your images and videos are native. Using horizontal images is a bad user experience and people intuitively know that they are being advertised to. Tip - Create your Instagram stories in the app and add GIF's or text (not too much) and then download and run as an ad. Doing it in an authentic way and then running it as an ad is a great way to reach more people. Create a strategy - The name says it all. Instagram stories are about telling a story. A one-off piece of content about how they should buy your content, etc. is likely not the route to go. They need more than 15 seconds to determine if they want do business with you or not. Create a content strategy with your ads that adds value. Tell a story, take them on a journey. Tip - Your Instagram feed should mimic this style of value and be on brand. Be intentional about where your text goes - In a story ad we see a lot where people try to move text out of the way of the person talking, but move it to the top left or bottom of the screen and this isn't a good look. The user profile is on the top left and the call to action is at the bottom. Go check out examples of Instagram story ads so you can get a good idea of where to place text. Use the carousel Instagram stories feature - If you want to create a longer message than 15 seconds, it's possible. You can create multiple videos in a row that work just like a native Instagram story. i.e. if you followed us without an ad you would see multiple of our videos in a row. In ads you can do this too. If done well, it can also feel like you are someone they already follow and builds a deeper relationship and gives you more time to convey your message. Add music - When appropriate, it's almost always appropriate. If you are creating a video that is all imagery and not someone talking, adding music will help increase the amount of time they stay on the story. Not all people listen without sound, but those who do will thank you. ______________________________________________ What do you think about this episode? We'd love to hear from you! 6. Maximize High Energy Cycles Following your body’s natural energy cycles can help you produce better results with less effort. Many firms don’t enforce the creation of systems and processes for all jobs performed. Many team members push back by saying they don’t have enough time to create them and thinking this is their job security. TIP: It’s really a no-brainer. Have a very clear picture – I suggest you outline details on paper (or on your computer) – of the end result. Now break that goal down into sizable chunks. Keep working backwards (end result ---> steps to take now) until you have a general idea of the direction you’re going before you get moving. Before taking action, ask yourself this simple question: “What’s the next logical step?” or “What can I do, right now, to move closer to the desired end result?” Remember, creating better results isn’t always about working harder. Points of struggle or frustration are opportunities to explore easier ways to produce what you desire. Focus and continual action in the right direction will help you work smarter, not harder. Let’s take a look at these 8 ideas for working smarter, not harder. Therefore, it’s vital that you streamline your daily duties to only the most important tasks that require your focused attention, and those things that only you can do and can’t be done by someone else. TIP: Create a daily schedule of the most important and highest payoff tasks of the day – and stick to it (not always easy but critical to your success). Reduce and eliminate the non-essential duties (the tasks that are either not in alignment with your core values and/or are not income-generating) from your daily schedule. If working harder doesn’t feel right, give yourself permission to take a break. Be it 15 minutes or 1 hour, recognizing your stress signals can help you know when your body and mind need rest. You will perform better and more effectively when you have all your positive energy flowing. 5. As a business owner, it’s important to recognize how valuable your time is - and how you choose to spend it. If you are sitting at a desk spending the majority of your time on low-payoff tasks, you don’t have the time to focus upon the most important part of your business: generating revenue. Would you hire a $100-an-hour team member to do a $20-an-hour task? Not likely. This is the same reasoning behind why you shouldn’t be the company bookkeeper or receptionist. 2. Ignoring High-Payoff Tasks Do you know what you need to be doing to boost revenue - but you’re not doing it or doing it on a consistent basis? Perhaps the fear of doing tasks outside your comfort zone is stopping you from doing the very thing that will make all the difference in your business revenue and ultimate success? Let’s be clear: if you own your own business, you must become very astute at recognizing, and completing, the high-payoff tasks or you will soon be out of business. Let’s say you’re the creative genius type; the sales part of your business isn’t your thing. You could hire a sales team to help drive in some sales, but at some point you’re going to have to tackle the very thing that scares you. If you don’t - you’re going to continue to struggle with generating the level of revenue you want and deserve. 4. Failure to Follow-Up Although it’s mentioned lastly here, failure to follow-up is one of the top self-sabotaging habits in business. For instance, let’s say the first follow-up or follow-ups to “cold” leads could be labeled 1st Tier that can be delegated to a virtual assistant or team member. If your personal attention is requested or required at a later time, the follow-up could be escalated to 2nd Tier that’s handled personally by you. Reserve your personal attention for only the ideal prospects, all other low-payoff follow-up should be automated or handled by staff. Don’t let the demands of running your own business distract you from success. Be aware of sabotaging habits that prevent you from boosting the revenue necessary to take your business, and life, to the next level. Growing your business is often a lesson in letting go and focusing. It’s about letting go of the low-payoff tasks, so you have the mental space and time to focus on high-payoff tasks. As a business owner, it’s important to recognize how valuable your time is - and how you choose to spend it. 3. Have you built a new website or redesigned your existing one and don’t know what to do next? In this Legal Marketing 2.0 episode, hosts Guy Alvarez and Tim Baran discuss the top three takeaways - content, search engine optimization (SEO), and social media - from our popular blog post: You’ve Built a Website. Now What? It starts with content Without content you can’t have a successful SEO or social media strategy. "You’ve built the Ferrari (website) and now you need the fuel (content) to make it go." But, not typical content - about the firm or the attorney, or practice area description. We’re talking about thought leadership and client-centric content that anticipates the issues and concerns your target audience has. Clients want lawyers who understand their problems, their business, and have the experience to handle their issues, and the best way to demonstrate that is with client-centric content. Instead to starting out with what you do, talk about the problems your target audience face and then show how you can help. TIP: Create content based on success stories with examples of how you’ve been able to help a client overcome a legal challenge. Why do success stories work? Because we all like stories and it’s a great way to demonstrate your legal skills and experience. Always be thinking SEO Create client-centric content that engages your potential clients while having SEO in the back of your mind, such as the keywords and key phrases that your target audience would. Use keywords in the right places and include long tail key phrases. TIP: Use Yoast SEO, a WordPress Plugin that helps you use your keywords properly in the title, body, and meta description, and optimize pages for each keyword. Social Media You can have great client-centric content on your site but if no one’s reading it, what good is it? In addition to SEO, you should use social media to help people find your content. TIP: Use paid social to increase your reach and exposure. You should also curate content and engage on the social channels. Curating content writing by others enhances your position as a thought leader and helps you build relationships with influencers and others. See: A Social Media Strategy Checklist for Law Firms. Additional takeaway Don’t forget to measure everything. Not just web analytics like page views and visitors to your site, but tracking downloads, social media posts, emails, and so on. Make sure you have the tools and KPIs in place to measure what’s working and what isn’t.
