Stéphanie welcomes Jenny Guinness to discuss the power of prayer. Jenny has been married to Os Guinness for over 50 years. Using the remarkable biography and spiritual journey of James Fraser—a pioneering missionary in China—as the centerpiece, Jenny Guinness draws out key lessons for deepening our own prayer lives. Prayer, as lived out by James Fraser, is an arena of tenacity, faith, and ongoing transformation. It's about keeping the line open to God, partnering deeply with others, and refusing to give up even when answers seem delayed. Through prayer, spiritual strongholds are broken, lives are changed, and God's kingdom advances in unseen and visible ways. If you enjoy this conversation on prayer, consider our Gospel Spice Course on prayer titled "The Heart Behind Prayer." It contains a full array of different videos to inspire you to pray! For more info: https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer Jenny shares about her early exposure to prayer at the Christian community and study center, L'Abri, where prayer was not only valued but strategically woven into daily life. James Fraser exemplified this through his innovative approach: he formed an “entrepreneurial” network of intercessors back in England, tasking them with regular, committed prayers for the Lisu people he was trying to reach in remote China. These prayers were not haphazard; they were systematic and intentional, teaching us that powerful prayer often involves faithful partnership and unwavering commitment across distance and time. A major turning point in Fraser's ministry—and in Jenny Guinness' understanding—came in the realization that demonic oppression wasn't an ancient relic but a present reality for many. Fraser's confrontation with the demonic practices among the Lisu forced him to wrestle with New Testament accounts of spiritual warfare and rely on more than just persuasive words; he learned to battle through persistent, “fighting” prayer anchored in scripture, much like Jesus did when confronted by evil. Fraser's persistence, even in the face of repeated setbacks and unresponsiveness, illustrates that prayer is more than asking for blessings—it is warfare for spiritual breakthrough. Jenny Guinness points out the importance of leaning on the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God during spiritual opposition. Fraser labored for years without visible results among the Lisu, which led to moments of deep discouragement. However, he learned the critical lesson of not giving up, trusting God's timing above his own. Jenny Guinness discusses practical steps when facing unanswered prayer, including honest spiritual “inventory”: humbly asking whether there's unresolved sin, spiritual strongholds, or simply an issue of God's timing at work. Even when prayer seems unanswered, the lesson is to keep the lifeline to God open, trusting His goodness and perfect timing. When discussing Halloween, Jenny Guinness cautions us, that while many cultural celebrations are harmless for children, the spiritual realm is real. Christians are called not to live in fear, but to be wise, discerning, and rooted in biblical truth, aware of ways the enemy seeks footholds. To inform and equip believers for spiritual battles, Jenny Guinness recommends resources by authors such as Francis McNutt, Derek Prince, and Randy Clark. She emphasizes that understanding and engaging in spiritual warfare should be based on biblical principles, wisdom, and community support—not fear or curiosity. Let's commit to the kind of prayer that is persistent, Spirit-led, and shaped by scripture—standing together as the body of Christ even across great distances, for God's glory and the freedom of others. MORE ABOUT OUR COURSE "THE HEART BEHIND PRAYER" There are a few things in our Christian life that we know we should do more, or at least better – and prayer just might top the list. Prayer is a mystery. Why would a conversation with a human have any influence on God's eternal, sovereign plan? It defies logic, and beckons love. How can God, the Almighty Lord of Hosts, be this close, this personal? It defies understanding, and beckons involvement. More at https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer But, lack of time, inspiration, and discipline, combined with the ruthless tyranny of our busy lives, push prayer to the periphery, to the “one day I'll get to it” pile. And yet, we can excel at what we endeavor to undertake. So, why isn't prayer more of a spiritual priority? Could we develop a mindset around prayer that made it attractive, inspiring, even maybe delightful? What if we attuned our spiritual ears to listen to God, and our spiritual eyes to see His provision? As an unassuming student, Stephanie humbly offers to share the little she have learned from others about the joy of prayer. She will give us theology, practical tips, and useful resources, sharing what works for her as we, together, learn to pray. If you find prayer intimidating, or if your lack of prayer makes you feel guilty or “less than,” then this is the place for you! If you have been a student of prayer for many years, this is the place for you too! If you have breath in your lungs, then prayer can become one of the deepest joys of your day. Don't miss out! More at https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer To pray is to believe that God not only hears, but that He responds. It is to stand in the gap for a broken world, wielding the authority of Christ, empowered by the Spirit, and trusting in the goodness of the Father. The question is not whether prayer works, but whether we are willing to pray the kinds of prayers that invite God's Kingdom into the darkest places of the earth—and of our own hearts. We may never fully understand the mechanics of prayer, or how it intersects with God's sovereignty, but we are not called to understand everything. We are called to be faithful. And faithfulness means showing up—in prayer, in persistence, in expectation. So today, let us pray not only for the comfort of our hearts, but for the transformation of the world. Let us take our place as image-bearers, co-laborers, and co-heirs. Let us believe that God is still listening—and still acting. Because He is. There's only one way to find out what might happen when we truly pray like this. More at https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer Stephanie doesn't really know how to pray. She's a humble student and absolute beginner at the holy endeavor that is prayer. So, this course isn't really about what she's learned, or any wisdom she has. But, she's sat at the feet of many prayer warriors over the decades, through books and teachings. So, she will share what she has learned from them. Humility is going to be our primary heart posture! With each lesson, she will offer a few thoughts, practices, and ideas – with much humility, and not taking herself too seriously. She will also share her favorite books and resources about prayer. Also, she will introduce you to some of the most influential prayer warriors of our history as the Body of Christ. Most importantly, she will invite YOU to pray! Learning to pray comes from praying. Our humble ambition is to inspire you to pray, and to give you a few tips on how to do that. Then, it's up to you! Prayer is a lifelong endeavor. Let's make it delightful together! Gospel Spice exists to inspire our generation to delight in God. We do this through the podcast, online Bible studies, leadership trainings, and more. We want to serve Christ-followers who seek to live a life spiced with the gospel. We want to love God, because He first loved us. We want to experience the fullness of life with Him—and not be content with stale, boring, leftover faith. Jesus tells us that the most important thing is to love the Lord our God, so we take Him seriously. He adds that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. Now, there are many ways to do that, but I have always personally felt deep compassion for victims of human trafficking – it is modern day slavery, and it revolts the heart of God. And so, they are our particular neighbors here at Gospel Spice. We want to play our part in raising awareness and then financially supporting those who fight this great evil. Now we would love to invite you to join the team in one of three ways: 1, pray Gospel Spice forward – pray for our guests, our listeners and participants, and for us too! 2, play Gospel Spice forward by telling your friends about us, and by please leaving positive reviews and comments on your podcast listening app; and 3rd, PAY GospelSpice forward. Come As You Are Series - BartimaeusMark 10:46-52 “Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.”How many of us have the faith of this man that Jesus healed? He was sitting on the side of the road, and when he heard Jesus was passing by, he called out to him. The crowd of people told him to be silent, but he continued to call out. How many of us listen when others tell us to be silent? Or worse yet, we don't feel worthy enough to speak up in the first place, or we are too nervous to speak out and ask for help, fearing rejection. Bartimaeus did not listen when others told him to be quiet. He kept calling out. He believed that Jesus could heal him, and he was not going to let the chance pass him by. Once Jesus heard him calling out, Jesus told the crowd to call him over. When the crowd told Bartimaeus that Jesus would see him, the bible says, “He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.” How great is that? How many of us are jumping up at Jesus' call? I know it's different. Jesus was right there, and he got to see him and talk to him. However, we can also talk to Jesus at any time we want to. Even though we cannot see him, he is calling us to him. He wants to invite us into a deeper relationship with him. Do we hear this call? Do we jump up, throw our cloak aside and run to him when we are called? I love the faith that Bartimaeus had. He knew Jesus could heal him. He did not seem to have any doubt that Jesus could cure his blindness. He also didn't seem to doubt that Jesus would want to help him or to question whether he was worthy enough. He saw Jesus walking by and called out to him. Do we do this? Jesus is here for us; he wants us to call out and to rely on Him. Are we doing that? It seems each week at my Prayer Group, God is showing up for us, and he is telling us to come closer. He keeps telling us to rely on him, that he is our protection and our refuge. Why are we not calling on him more? When Jesus healed Bartimaeus, He said, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” How great would it be to hear those words from Jesus? One scripture verse that I think is amazing and that I struggle with is Mark 11:22. This verse is Jesus' reply to the cursed fig tree. Jesus said to them in reply, “Have faith in God. Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him.” This is the type of faith that I strive for, yet I sometimes wonder if it's possible. I wonder if there are humans who can have this type of faith? I know that God can do anything. I truly believe this. And yet, when I think of myself commanding a mountain to be lifted up and thrown into he see, I can't seem to wrap my head around that. I have searched for this type of faith for a very long time now. Probably since the first time I actually heard this scripture and let it sink in. The very next verse is Mark 11:23, “Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.” This again just blows me away. All that you ask for shall be yours if you believe. That seems like a lot of pressure, and at the same time, a huge promise on God's part. As I mentioned earlier, ever since I heard scripture like this, I have sought out this type of faith. I would love to believe without a shadow of a doubt that God can do all the things I ask Him to do, that He will answer all of my prayers. I find it a struggle to believe as much as I would like to, and I wonder if this is because I have a human brain and we were trained from an early age not to believe in things that we can't see or prove. We were mostly taught that there are certain things that can be done and things that can't be done. I think as humanity grows, we are learning to question that more and more. But it takes time to overcome years of that type of thinking. I thought I would share one way I have been able to deepen my trust and faith that God can do all He says He can do. I read books about all the miracles God has done and continues to do. I love reading books about healing. God is truly amazing, and He performs miracles every single day. If we were just on the lookout for them, we would see them. If we can't see them in our lives, we can read about them in others' lives. Harold Hill's book, “How to Live Like a King's Kid,” is an excellent example. If you read all the amazing things that God did in his life, you can't help but start to believe he will do it for you as well. Harold Hill also discusses his faith journey and how he reached a point where he began to see God do amazing things in his life. Additionally, I have read books on healing by Francis McNutt, Randy Clark, Mary Healy, Matthew & Dennis Linn, which have been particularly beneficial. When you read about God's healing of others and how there are people out there today who are calling upon God to heal people every day, then it strengthens your faith that he will answer your prayers as well. Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” We all know that Jesus performed miracles while he was alive and walked the earth. He raised people from the dead, he cured numerous illnesses, he turned water into wine, and he did many other remarkable things. This verse from Hebrews lets us know that these miracles were not just something he did in the past. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” He is still performing these miracles today, and if we struggle to believe this, then we need to seek out the testimony of it, because it is out there. Another thing I pray often is Mark 9:24, “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief.”This story goes well with the Come As You Are series because Beartimaeus did just that. He knew he wasn't worthy to talk to Jesus, yet he called out to him anyway. He heard everyone telling him to be quiet, and yet he continued to call out, not because he thought he deserved the healing, but because he wanted it so badly. Is there something that you want so badly you are willing to call out to Jesus even though you don't feel worthy? Is there something you want so badly that you are willing to jump up and answer Jesus's call? Ask Jesus for whatever it is; what have you got to lose?Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that you bless all those listening to this episode today. Lord, we ask that you increase our trust in you. Lord, we believe, help our unbelief. Lord, we need you to show us the way. We would like nothing more than to have the faith to move mountains, and we know that you are the only one who can give us that faith. So we're asking you, Lord, we are asking for the faith to move mountains. Lord, give us the courage to ask when we need healing or when someone else needs healing. Help us to turn to you first and ask you to heal them. Lord, we give you permission to use us as your instruments of healing, as you used countless people before us. Jesus, you are the great physician, and we ask that you continue that work through us. There are too many people dying in the world today. Let us help you help them. Let us be your hands of healing, Lord Jesus. We love you, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen.Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. I look forward to meeting you here again tomorrow. Remember, Jesus loves you just as you are, and so do I! In this week's message, guest speaker Dr. Randy Clark teaches why Jesus had to die: not only to forgive us, but to deliver us, heal us, and fill us with the Holy Spirit. He shows from Passover, the Day of Atonement, Isaiah 53, and John 7 that Jesus carried both sin and sickness, and by His stripes we are healed. He challenges us to choose Jesus over the destroyer, to stop at cheap grace, and to step into real freedom by the power of the Spirit. The invitation is clear—come for salvation or rededication, come for healing, and come to be filled. God is drawing you. Don't harden your heart. His grace is bigger than your sin. ____ Partner with New Tribe: Give | https://newtribe.church/give/ ____ Connect with New Tribe: Website | https://newtribe.church/comeexperience/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/newtribechurch Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/newtribechurch YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/newtribechurch

I was radically healed at VOA. My tribe(VOA attendees) were encouraging me and praying over me. I received multiple healings. The first was the ability to walk(Bookstore Bob was there), inner healing with the Agape Freedom Fighter team, and the word of knowledge from Dr. Clark about lower left abdominal pain(this specifically was for me, as I had left the hospital with a drain tube in my lower left abdomen). I will tell you that I was in shock when He said my condition. My niece and those around me were like That's you. When Dr. Clark called up those to share their testimonies, I ran up to the stage. While I was on stage, something amazing happened. I felt like I was being straightened and felt this rod on the right side of my body, it was amazing!!! I left there healed and I write this looking forward to my appointment tomorrow when I get to see the doctor's face!!” Next is – Michael | Richmond, VA “I stood after Randy had a word of knowledge that God was healing hearts. I had been treated for afib for over 14 years and on medication. I believe God has healed my heart. I am 72 years old and am no longer on any heart medication. My heart rate is normal, I go to the gym regularly and have no problems doing yard work or any other activity. God is Good!Next is – Beverly | Birmingham, AL “I was healed of a voice infirmity known as spasmodic dysphonia (SD), identified by a Word of Knowledge as a sharp twisting of the muscles around the larynx. I knew the Word was for me because the disorder is very rare. I actually experienced a creative miracle. The nerve from the brain to my larynx was regenerated. It grew back!!!! SD is a neurological condition in which the nerves affecting the muscles around the larynx deteriorate and stop working. Loss of the nerve stops the muscle flexibility of the laryngeal muscles, thereby preventing ordinary identifiable speech/language sounds. The voice quivers and has spasms. I had reached a point in my life where I was ashamed to even talk. People could not understand my speech. I happen to be a preacher and trainer… so, needless to say, I became so discouraged that I stopped preaching and became afraid to teach. SO PRAISE BE TO GOD for the healing. I had been experiencing progressive deterioration for 14 years!”Last, but not least, we have – Darenda | Harrisburg, PA “I sat next to a blind man on the plane on the way over who was also going to the conference. He was called out by Bob Hazlett and prophesied over in his main session. Then on the way back, I was again seated next to the same man, still blind. Have you ever been seated next to the same person twice on two different airplane trips? Well, I never have. So I prayed for him to receive his sight, and progressively over the two hours, he did. He has been completely blind for 4 years (diabetic retinopathy) in his right eye and has some light shadows in his left. Before deboarding, he could see his hands, some things in front of him, my eyes, and my hair. He mostly wants to see his 4-year-old grandson's face, whom he's never been able to see. In a follow-up text this week, he said his grandson's face is getting clearer and clearer. Praise God for this wonderful, creative miracle, so amazing to witness.”Weren't those testimonies amazing! Thank you to all who have been brave enough to share your testimony. It is because of people like you that other people's faith is built up. It is not always easy to be vulnerable and share your testimony. It is not always easy to put into words what the Lord has done for you. Yet, when you can, it helps so many people trust God all the more. www.findingtruenorthcoaching.comCLICK HERE TO DONATECLICK HERE to sign up for Mentoring CLICK HERE to sign up for Daily "Word from the Lord" emailsCLICK HERE to sign up for my newsletter & receive a free audio training about inviting Jesus into your daily lifeCLICK HERE to buy my book Total Trust in God's Safe Embrace

The witnesses today are from the Global Awakening Website. Randy Clark is An international itinerant minister birthed from a 4-day meeting in Canada; Randy Clark illustrates perfectly the aphorism, “Don't despise small beginnings.” The son of an oil field worker, Randy, like most from his generation, learned the importance of perseverance. After his miraculous healing from a car accident when he was eighteen, he felt led to go into the ministry. Since that day, November 20, 1970, Randy's involvement in ministry soared. Shortly after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies in 1974, Randy went on to receive his Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, in 1977.Randy Clark travels all over the world to conduct healing services and teach people the power of the Holy Spirit. This morning, I went to his website and pulled some witness testimonies to share with you. There are so many; I just chose a few that I thought you would enjoy. The Lord truly is still miraculously healing today, and the more we hear about it, the more we will believe it. I pray when you hear these witnesses, you will know it is possible for you and your loved ones to be healed, too.Lucas was blind in the left eye. completely blind. He was at a healing service, and there was a word of knowledge. He closed his eyes and said Jesus, please open my eyes I want to see. Then, when he opened his eyes, he didn't feel anything, but he could see. They checked back in four years later, and they were told this healing really caused ripples not only there in that state in Brazil but in other states as well,Another man was shot in the chest, and then he had a problem with his spine, and he couldn't walk. He was in a wheelchair. He went to a healing service on a Friday night with Randy Clark. The man prayed over him, and he couldn't feel anything. And then he just stood up and gave them a hug, and now he's walking again. He hadn't walked for 2 months. When I was healed, I was relieved because I could stand. There was a woman at a healing service with Randy Clark. He had a word of knowledge about a motorcycle. He asked if that meant anything to anyone, and a woman raised her hand. Randy went over to her to pray for her and she was shaking and shaking. She had been in a motorcycle accident, and her foot was so bad the doctor said in one week they would need to amputate it. Her foot was healed. She was up on the stage dancing and jumping around. There was a young girl who was run over by a motorcycle a month and 8 days before the healing service. The paramedics said she was dead for 30 minutes. Everybody around the girl said she was done, and prayer wouldn't help. The mom refused to believe it. She touched her daughter's chest and said I rebuke the spirit of death. She touched her daughter's hand and commanded the Spirit of life to come back into her. Her mom asked the Holy Spirit to please breathe life into her again. As soon as she said that, her daughter took a breath and came back. When the girl went to the healing service, she came in a wheelchair. She had an open wound on her head, she had pain in her head, and she had double vision. After prayer, the wound and her head closed up. She had no more pain in her head; she had no more double vision. She was also able to walk again without the wheelchair.Next, Randy Clark interviewed a man who has seen over 100 resurrections. He talked about the last one he saw. He and his wife went into the hospital, and they saw a woman who was lying there with her eyes open. She had her mouth open too, and she had food in her mouth that she had eaten two days ago, and there were worms all in the food and coming out of her mouth. The man and his wife prayed over her. Then, just as the man was about to go get someone to move this woman's body to the morgue, she coughed out all the food and worms and was alive again.Beverly | Birmingham, AL said, “I was healed of a voice infirmity known as spasmodic dysphonia (SD) identified by a Word of Knowledge as a sharp twisting of the muscles around the larynx. My tribe(VOA attendees) were encouraging me and praying over me. I received multiple healings. The first was the ability to walk(Bookstore Bob was there), inner healing with the Agape Freedom Fighter team, and the word of knowledge from Dr. Clark about lower left abdominal pain(this specifically was for me as I had left the hospital with a drain tube in my lower left abdomen). "I believe 100% that the Bible should inform how we vote." Ken Fish. "Not everyone is made to be an articulator" - Jeffrey Tyner. "Doing life in the body requires us to be sympathetic with the strengths and weakness of others." - Jeffrey Tyner. "You know, what happened as I was, you know, I was backpacking in the Himalayas, and my buddy and I met this family who was very far out there, and they told in a deficient key, nonhype y way some stories that blew my mind. And a few things occurred to me. First, these people are on the frontier of gospel advancement. Not 24 hours before meeting these people, I had been in a situation where my friend said, this lady in the car with us has never heard of Jesus Christ, completely unaware of the historical existence of Jesus Christ. And that rocked me to realize this whole thing about unreached people, groups, this is real." - Jeffrey Tyner. "This is kind of the set piece that seems as though, in many charismatic circles, there is almost no understanding of church history. To be clear, some charismatics speak of it and teach it. I have always incorporated church history into what I teach and speak on. Randy Clark does this, and many people associating with him are getting educated and becoming more familiar with church history. So I don't think this is a bad thing at all, but I do think it well, let's say it's a steep hill to climb when, for the longest time, the going-in assumption was all you need is the Bible." - Ken Fish. "So the Christian scriptures make it clear that the final revelation comes through the person of Jesus Christ. And the New Testament scriptures, all of them in one way or another, bear witness to Jesus Christ." - Ken Fish.

The results shocked him and you'll want to hear his take on why our country is so divided on so many different cultural topics!Following that, Breitbart Reporter (and former Border Patrol Agent) Randy Clark joined the program to talk about America's border issues...in the North. It's not nearly talked about as much as the very real problems in the south, but you'll want to hear what Randy has to say about this topic and how it might impact citizens in this country!
