Can our unity truly transform the world? In this powerful message, Ps Peter challenges and invites us to become the answer to Jesus' prayer for unity among believers, referencing John 17:23, where Jesus prays for His followers to be 'perfected in unity.' We're reminded that our oneness as believers is meant to reflect the oneness of the Trinity, serving as a powerful testimony to the world. Ps Peter highlights two main hindrances to this unity: our culture's emphasis on individualism and our struggle to choose love in difficult situations. As we reflect on these challenges, we're encouraged to move from a 'weak group culture' to a 'strong group culture,' where we consider how our actions impact the community rather than just ourselves. This shift requires humility, surrender, and vulnerability – qualities that mirror Christ's own example. Ultimately, we're called to grow in self-awareness and take responsibility for our brokenness, seeking healing and transformation so that we can truly become one and reveal God's love to the world.Oneness in Biblical Context1. Jesus' redefinition of familial bonds to include all believers. How Jesus expanded the concept of family to encompass all who follow God's will, thereby creating a new spiritual kinship among believers.2. The obstacles presented by individualistic culture in achieving unity. The challenge of overcoming individualistic culture to achieve unity, advocating for practices that cultivate strong group culture and interdependent relationships within the church community.3. The importance of self-awareness and taking responsibility for personal growth. Encouraging us to recognise and address our own brokenness to foster unity and love within the community.Discussion Questions:1. What is one group or community you are a part of where you feel it has a strong group culture? 2. What has been your experience of individualistic culture? Reflections:Read Matthew 12:46-50How can we redefine our sense of community to align with Jesus' view of unity among believers?Read John 17:22-23What does it mean for us personally to contribute to the unity Jesus prayed for?Read Ephesians 3:10How can recognising the spiritual power of unity change the way we approach community interactions?Read John 13:34-35, In what ways can we actively choose love over self in our relationships? ‘Understanding love beyond the individual'.Read John 17:23What specific habits or attitudes contribute to achieving the oneness Jesus desires?Further Reading:Ephesians chapters 1-4Matthew 12:46-50John 13:34-35John 17:20-23Book 'Radically Restored' by Peter McHugh available to order https://linktr.ee/PeterMcHugh Thank you for joining us. In this week's episode, I share the amazing, inspirational story of fitness expert, Fitz Koehler.Fitz shares her story of how she overcame breast cancer, including the story of how she successfully got through 15-months of torturous treatment with the aid of exercise, nutrition, a positive mindset, a great outlook on life and seeking joy. We also had an interesting debate over red meat and whether the science supports the claim that red meat consumption causes cancer. Suffice to say, we respectfully agreed to disagree like adults on that subject. After the interview, Fitz kindly sent me a link to the science that suggests that red meat increases the risk of colon cancer by 28%. I have included the link in the show notes. I have also included a link to a critique by Dr Paul Saladino of the research that makes those claims.I would never suggest you believe anything I or my guests say, but would always suggest you do your own research and come to your own conclusions. The links provided are good place to begin research into that subject, should you wish to do so.I really hope you enjoy this episode and take inspiration from it.We discussed:2:45Fitz's story and biggest health challenge35:50The most important things cancer patients need to know51:50How exercise and nutrition affect your cancer recovery54:00The Cancer Comeback Series1:00:14Fitz's Top 3 TipsYou can find Fitz @:Fitzness.com https://www.instagram.com/fitzness/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/fitz-koehler/ https://www.facebook.com/Fitzness-218599521492381/ https://www.youtube.com/fitznesshttps://www.instagram.com/healthycancercomeback/10% off Fitz's books at Fitzness.com with discount code PODCAST.Studies on the link between Red Meat & Cancer:A meta-analysis of 29 studies of meat consumption and colon cancer.Dr Paul Saladino critique of the studies on red meat and cancerOther Radical Health Rebel Cancer Episodes:The Root Cause of Cancer with Paul LeendertseCancer Healed Holistically with The Power of RAGE with Jill Ayn SchneiderCancer Is a Spiritual Journey with Paul LeendertseSupport the showDon't forget to leave a Rating for the podcast! You can find Leigh @:Leigh website - https://www.bodychek.co.uk/Leigh's books - https://www.bodychek.co.uk/books/ Eliminate Adult Acne Programme - https://skinwebinar.com/HEAL THEM Education Programme - http://healthemeducation.vhx.tv/ Radical Health Rebel YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/@radicalhealthrebelpodcast

Do you do vocal warm-ups before you sing?If you're like a lot of us, you may gloss over this part of your singing process. Maybe you feel you don't have enough time. Or maybe you think good warm-ups can't be done without a piano. This week's guest Tessa Smith knows how you feel. What she found enabled her to embrace a new philosophy where warm-ups don't have to be prescribed exercises but adaptable activities that performers change based on what their voices need.Join us as Tessa reveals why warm-ups are so important. As parents we naturally want to make things easier for our children and we want them to have opportunities that we didn't have, but if you make their lives too easy, then they're not gonna be resilient enough for the world. If you make life too easy, it can become a burden. Too much prosperity can create apathy and can kill ambition, which is something we need to be aware of when parenting. Principles to teach your children include hard work, service, and gratitude. Help them expect to bless others and in times of need, be blessed by others. Hardships can craft desire and ambition 1:50How to not raise an entitled child 4:15Learning where good things come from 7:25Having wealth without having to work for it 13:40A lesson in growth and not having money 15:20“There are some people around us who are significantly wealthy whose kids turn up and serve. They're doing all sorts of incredible stuff, not looking to get paid for helping, serving, in the community and beyond, and they wouldn't have to work for a hundred lifetimes if they want to. It's got nothing to do with circumstance and everything to do with how they're raised.” 13:00https://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/Pick up a copy of Journal to Joy. You may be familiar with him from his Super Soul Sunday radio series and his popular interview with Oprah from over ten years ago. Whether or not you've heard him--or of him--Reverend Ed Bacon has a second mountain message we could all use in our lives. The Reverend was ordained an Episcopal priest after serving as Mercer University's Minister to Students and Dean of Students as a Southern Baptist minister. He was dean of the cathedral in Jackson, Ms. and rector of churches in Dalton, Georgia and Pasadena, California from which he “retired” in 2016. He and his wife, Hope, moved to Hoover, Alabama in 2016 to be near their grandchildren. Now he travels, teaching how our Oneness in Love overcomes our fear-based separateness. He expresses this spiritual way of life in his book, 8 Habits of Love. His missions also include creation care including helping to save the Pando forest in southern Utah, interspirituality, healing grief and trauma, and dismantling systems of all forms of bigotry and oppression.Today, he shares with us is the inspiring and challenging depths we can get to on a regular basis if we're able to get still with ourselves. BREAKING (kidding, sort of). In late May, Pew Research announced they would "only do generational analysis when we have historical data that allows us to compare generations at similar stages of life" after a year-long analysis of their own approach to reporting on differences by generations, and the overall landscape of such content and reporting. This announcement supports a lot of what Farrah and Adam have been circling while conducting their research into the Millennial narrative, and Pew's got the data to explain why their approach makes so much sense. Kim Parker, director of social trends research at Pew Research Center, joins to share more context on the thinking and data that got them to this exciting (to us) conclusion.Read the article from Pew here: https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/05/22/how-pew-research-center-will-report-on-generations-moving-forward/. Often in the fitness world there's a disconnect between being a fulltime parent and “the fitness junkie” that makes being into fitness seem difficult or somewhat impossible, but Elliot has come up with an approach to make it seem much more accessible and doable. “The outcome goal would be, ‘I'm going to lose 10 pounds' for example, whereas the identity based goal is ‘I'm gonna be the type of person who works out every day.'” How this whole thing came about 1:40Identifying differently 7:55The habits that define one as a healthy, nutritious, energy-filled parent 11:50How to get people started 19:30The gym is often not accessible 27:30Look to control the controllable 30:45Find more about Elliot 36:35“If I want to be the person who works out, then I need to do little things every day to put myself as that person. So it might just be that I just do a 10 minute workout every day and it's just those little things that then identify yourself as a person when you're having a conversation with someone, ‘Yeah I work out 5 days a week' you become that type of person, therefore that starts changing your identity.” 9:49@witfitptwww.theonlineparentpt.com/challengehttps://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/Pick up a copy of Journal to Joy. Today we have the pleasure of meeting with Tiffany and Brett Bailey. They came into our home and had a beautiful conversation, very vulnerable, very open, talking about their coming together, their relationship, the navigating of different things they've gone through and are going through, and we're so happy to have them. We talk about the importance of leaning into issues you come across in a relationship and dealing with the problem at hand as opposed to leaning out. This approach often comes with age, wisdom, and experience.
