Is weight loss really the answer to health, happiness, success and self-love? In this episode, we explore weight-centric and weight-neutral approaches to health and well-being. I share my approach to weight neutrality, the advantages it offers, including the benefits for mental, emotional, and physical health. I also explore why a weight-neutral approach is far superior to the outdated and unsuccessful paradigm of a weight-centric approach and illustrate real-world outcomes through a series of short stories, showcasing the contrasting results of each approach.

In this episode, I share what hunger is (and isn't), three types of hunger, how they influence your eating habits, and why understanding and honouring them is key for not only healthy eating but also for nurturing a healthy, peaceful relationship with food and your body.
In this episode, a conversation I had with E-CET client, Natalie. In it, we discuss her lifelong weight 'noticing', what about E-CET stands out the most for her, why she joined, what she was hoping to gain from the process, how the process is different than anything else she's tried in the past, some of the things that have changed for her since starting, what she loves most about it, how she's learning more trust and connection, and what advice she'd give to someone who is currently where she was when she started.
In this episode, I'm talking about procrastination. What it is (and isn't), sharing some of the most common reasons clients struggle with it, why you probably struggle with, in fact. I'm also talking about how you're probably making it way worse every day, and I'm sharing some things that can help so you stop falling into a shame spiral and start feeling better and more motivated.
The truly healthiest way to eat is to eat whatever you want, whenever you want, even as much as you want. I'd even argue that despite what diets, “healthy eating plans” and really the whole health and wellness industry as a whole need you to believe, it's the only way to actually eat healthy. In this (and the last) episode, I'm talking about the science of nutrition (the last episode), explaining why I say eating what you want is the healthiest way to eat and exactly what I mean (and don't mean) by it (this episode). Before you decide I'm nuts, give these two a listen.

In this episode, why I unsubbed from Mel Robbins mailing list, why I'm even talking about it in the first place plus the ‘healthy habits hack' she shared and why it's not only the stupidest, most unhelpful advice a person could ever possibly give (or get) but worse, it's downright harming people… perhaps even you, if you've gotten this same advice.
In this episode, I'm sharing 7 things you need to know before you set more weight loss resolutions. These are some of the dirty little secrets the health, fitness and weight loss industries don't want you to know, from an industry drop out.

In this episode, I'm addressing an email I got about a piece I recently wrote for Tiny Buddha called, "How to Protect our Kids from a Lifetime of Weight, Food and Body Image Issues" because it was indicative of misconceptions and common criticism of my work and work like mine. In this episode, I chat with another of my clients, Natalie. When she started with me, she was bingeing and restricting. She lived with fear and rules around every food in her house, fear and obsession over weight gain, body hate and judgment all so severe that she was on depression and anxiety meds and told her doctor she didn't want to keep living if she had to live like that. You won't believe where she's at now. Tune in to find out.
After watching the slap heard around the world at the Oscars last week with Will Smith and Chris Rock, my first thought was, "holy disproportionate reaction". And after just talking about this concept in my coach training program, Hollie, one of my coaches in training joins me for the episode while we chat about it. What are they? Why do they happen? How do they impact why we eat? Tune in to find out.
I often talk a lot about releasing food rules and giving ourselves permission to eat what we want but what happens when it feels terrifying and every time you try it for a little while, it feels like it doesn't work and you still feel obsessed with food or end up overeating or bingeing? That's what I'm talking about in this episode. I have a group of testers going through a new program I'm releasing soon and she sent me an email about the permission element this morning with common questions and concerns so I wanted to address them for anyone else who may feel the way she did.
Imagine this scenario... you're minding your own business, standing there in your bedroom getting dressed. As you're pulling up your favorite pair of pants, you notice they feel tighter than they felt the last time you wore them. What happens? The voice in your head that insists on obsessively narrating every waking second of your life, says… “uh oh, these weren't this tight before.” Then what happens? In this episode, I'm sharing how that scenario typically plays out for most - how it used to play out for me. I'm also sharing a different way to approach it. A more helpful, effective and productive way. And how it turns out when you make those changes.
Join me this week for a conversation I recently had with my client Hollie. She shares her story, her history with weight loss, dieting and healthy eating and she talks about what life is like now.
"Everyone" says intermittent fasting is sooo healthy... but, what are they not telling you about it? That's what I'm talking about in this episode.
Tune in this week for the recording from the workshop I recently hosted with leadership coach and my friend Dana Lloyd and learn to get out of your own way. I share: ➔ how to redefine your own version of what it means to eat and live healthy and why it's important that you do ➔ why healthy eating habits are so hard to stick to & why weight loss never sticks ➔ 3 of the biggest causes of binge eating or feeling out of control around food ➔ why “healthy living” doesn't actually require a "lifestyle change", but what it does require ➔ how to gain freedom from dieting/constant broken promises to “eat healthier”, “be good with food” or lose weight and start rebuilding self and body trust Dana shares: ➔ the scale she uses to find her Joy & connect to her Authentic Self ➔ how knowing your Values can provide you fulfillment and she shows you an example of how to discover yours ➔ how you can use your values to provide Direction in your life ➔ how to identify your Inner Critic, the role it plays and how to change your narrative
Last week was #BellLetsTalk day and for the occasion, I wanted to talk about what nobody ever seems to want to talk about. The truth behind even seemingly "successful" diets because my story is NOT unique & we HAVE to stop acting like promoting diets and weight loss is healthy (mentally or otherwise). So, in this episode, I'm again sharing my diet "success" because my story is not unique, varying degrees of it have become the norm and rarely, in discussions about mental health does anyone ever talk about the very real negative mental (and physical) health consequences of dieting and "healthy eating".
Body connection and trust are key elements for building not only a healthier relationship with food but healthier eating habits in general but they're practices that can be difficult to grasp and can often bring up a lot of resistance. In this episode, I share a client example, talk about some of the reasons why there can be so much resistance and I walk you through a super simple little beginning practice.
In this special episode, my friend Dana Lloyd, a leadership coach and author of Soul Prescriptions and host of the Soul Sister Conversation podcast, has joined me to discuss getting out of your own way. What do we mean by that? Why is important? How and why do we get in our own way? Tune in to learn more. Because it's the New Year and predictably the weight loss, diet and fitness ads are in FULL on stalking mode again, making all kinds of promises and perhaps making you feel like you're supposed to be starting another weight loss attempt, in this episode, I'm talking about the magic weight loss pill (metaphorically speaking) and share some of its side effects.

In this episode, I'm talking about health. What is it? What does it look like? Why is the phrase "picture of health" a toxic lie? Tune in to find out.
A survey of American women done in 2008 found that something like 75% had disordered eating habits. And based on experience, I'm sure the results in most of the rest of the industrialized world where capitalism reigns supreme would be pretty much on par with those. One major way in which disordered eating habits manifest themselves in our lives is through distrust. Distrust in ourselves, and distrust in our own ability to decide what, when and how much we should be eating. In this episode, I'm talking about why trusting ourselves with food can feel so hard when it's actually our natural state.
As with the relationships I had with my body and food, my relationship with exercise was pretty messed up most of my life and this destructive relationship with exercise is something I've seen in almost every woman I've worked with since I became a trainer in 2010. In this episode, I'm sharing how my relationship with it has changed in the last number of ways (in the most wonderful ways) and I'm sharing 4 tips you can use to work on improving yours and why it's so important. Tune in if you're sick of the "on track" and "off track" cycle with exercise and always feel like you're trying to convince yourself to "be more active".
In this week's episode, I wanted to talk about some messages I recently got from one of our newest members in the Cognitive Eating Academy because they were a beautiful real-time example of some of what keeps us from wanting to eat things that help us feel our best… an example of the things that drive self-sabotaging or self-destructive eating patterns… even bingeing. Her message started with, "I feel like I'm on the verge of a binge" Tune in to learn what we discovered about what was driving it and how we got her through it (without bingeing) and ultimately feeling better.
Recently, I had a conversation with a friend who's been having some distressing digestive issues and just got a list of things she can and can't eat from her naturopath. I died a little inside when she started talking about her "can and can't eat" list and in this episode I'm talking about why and I'm sharing a significantly healthier way to approach healthy eating.
Last night on a call with my CE group, one of the gals started her update with the comments about how messed up her stomach had been feeling in the days prior. She'd been experiencing abdominal pain, constipation, bloating, cramps... you name it. Most people would have started telling her what to change in her eating habits to improve her symptoms but that's not what I did. In this episode, I'm sharing why I didn't take that approach, what I did instead, why it worked and why this may the key you need to start feeling better in your own body.
Selling fear has become the backbone of the diet, weight loss, fitness, and even health and wellness industries because nothing is easier to sell than when you're feeding upon someone's fear. And holy hell, do those industries ever feed upon our fears. But what's the result of that? How does it impact the choices we make for ourselves and our bodies? And is there a better way? A healthier way? That's what I'm talking about in this episode. -- Visit the website: https://www.cognitiveeatingacademy.com Get the free ebook: https://www.cognitiveeatingacademy.com/ebook

This is another episode taken from a recent live I did for The Real Diet Story with Amanda Hanson. Another episode taken from an IG live with Amanda Hanson of www.simplystylish.ca that was done for The Real Diet Story. In this episode, I review what I went over in the workshop I hosted last night in case you missed it. That is: the three things that most often drive feeling out of control around food or struggling to "stay on track" the things you're probably doing every day that are making them worse and I share some tips on how to start shifting them If you want access to the worksheet I spoke of in this episode, shoot me email at roni@ronidavis.com and ask for the workshop worksheet. I'll send you a copy and even review it for you when you're done if you want to send it back to me. It's important to keep in mind that these are complex issues that can run deep. They take time and a whole lot of understanding to shift. If you want help making the process easier, The Cognitive Eating Academy has tools, practices, and supports in place to guide you, step by step on exactly how to change all of them.
Heart screams run. Body says, nope. Which do I listen to? Back in 2007 when I started my “fitness journey” (god I hate that phrase now) within a couple months of walking, I started running. And predictably, got obsessive about it. So obsessive in fact that within about 3 months I went from being completely inactive for years to running 10ks up to 5 or more days a week. Do you know what happens when you go from inactive to obsessively exercising in a short period of time? I do! Tune in as I share the surprising blessings that came from years of injuries and pain. And how changing the way I looked at those things, changed everything, including helped to change how I ate.
In this episode, I'm talking a little bit about a new project I'm working on with a friend and talking about why sharing stories and releasing the shame of weight & food struggles is sooo important.
I recently saw an article about a study that was done on how many people report weight gain since the pandemic hit and if you're one of them tune in for this episode. I'm talking about why worrying about it is the worst thing you can do, taking you through a short exercise to help you understand why and also a short exercise to help ease the worry.
