Hey there! Before we dive into today's podcast, let me give you a sneak peek into my chaotic life as a mom wrangling kids for dinner and soccer practice. But hey, this won't be a long episode. I'm thrilled to share that come January, I'm launching a new course, and if you're on the email list, you'll be the first to know, with some exclusive offers coming your way. Today, I'm delving into a topic close to my heart—relationships. I've been thinking about two major hurdles we often face: firstly, not seeing people from the heart, reacting instead of understanding; and secondly, the reluctance to self-reflect when things go awry. Drawing from a recent experience with my son and his teacher, I emphasize the importance of both parties owning up to their roles. So, here's the deal: practice pausing when triggered, understand your own stories, communicate openly, and embrace self-reflection. If you haven't joined the "Resentment Trap '' course, you're missing out—link's in the show notes with a special discount. Lastly, a personal note, Peter and I are sharing a profound story on my new YouTube channel—check it out, share, and tag me. Your support means the world. Love you all and catch you on the next episode! “We make the unconscious conscious, we speak to the thing that is happening. That's always the starting point is to speak to the thing that is happening.” – Joy Harrington Reflecting on two common challenges: not understanding people from the heart and avoiding self-reflection. Speak to your feelings and trigger stories to diminish their power and make the unconscious conscious. Encouraging a pause when triggered, emphasizing the need to understand personal stories and open communication for healthier relationships. In this episode, I, Joy Harrington, find myself driving to an appointment, lost in thought about that inner narrative we all grapple with – that voice telling us we're messing things up, that we're not good enough, that we've made a mistake. I've realized that this critical voice often emerges when I take a chance on something new, something I truly want, and that's a sign I need to confront deep-seated beliefs holding me back. It's an uncomfortable battle within, where I've learned that retreating or backtracking only keeps me in the same old loop. The key, I've discovered, is to lean into the discomfort, ask challenging questions, and shift those limiting beliefs. Even though it might make you feel like a bit of a hypocrite at times, you don't need to lean in 100% of the time, just 51%. It's about embracing the discomfort, changing your internal narratives, and ultimately reshaping your reality. So, don't give up, and remember, the discomfort is a sign of growth. “Lean into the discomfort of doubt, and be willing to be uncomfortable. It takes a lot and it takes a lot of discomfort to change things, to create a new belief, a new way of being, a new reality." I share my personal struggle with self-doubt and how it surfaces when we embark on new ventures. Emphasizing the importance of leaning into discomfort, I encourage listeners to embrace fear and doubt as part of their personal growth journey. Self-reflection and questioning existing beliefs are key to transforming our lives and shifting our narratives. The ongoing battle with self-doubt is discussed, with an emphasis on persisting through discomfort for lasting change. In this episode, I delve into the crucial topic of asking for what you need in your marriage. I begin by sharing a personal story of someone seeking advice on feeling unheard and unfulfilled in their relationship. It's a common struggle, and I stress the importance of open communication to avoid resentment and unhappiness. I highlight the link between self-alignment and personal responsibility, underlining that we have the power to change our circumstances by being true to our desires. Making wise decisions, facing fears, and taking control of our lives are key themes discussed. I also introduce my course, "The Resentment Trap," as a resource for recognizing patterns and living in alignment with our true selves. Join me on this journey towards self-empowerment and personal growth! “Instead of throwing up your hands and saying, 'Well, I asked for what I need, and I'm not getting it,' take the next step. If they're not giving it to me, then what do I need? Because it's my job, it's my responsibility to determine my life, not theirs.” Discover how to break free from the cycle of resentment and take control of your life Communication and self-care in marriages. In this episode, I dive into what I've discovered as the primary cause of divorce in today's marriages – resentment. I offer five actionable steps to tackle resentment head-on, including identifying, owning, and processing it both physically and emotionally. Additionally, I introduce "The Resentment Trap," a course I've developed to help individuals address and release their deep-seated resentment. In this episode, I'm excited to share a transformative seven-step forgiveness process that has had a profound impact on my life and relationships. I learned this powerful method from my coach, who inherited it from her coach, and it's been a game-changer. This process helps you release resentment by addressing the stories and lenses that shape your perceptions. I'll guide you through each step, from listing your complaints as personal stories to identifying the lenses through which you view them. We'll explore empathy, the recognition of unspoken agreements, and the importance of focusing on facts over opinions. By recognizing my own behavior and expressing gratitude for others, I've experienced the liberating power of forgiveness. My challenge to you: consider using this process to heal and enhance your relationships. “Resentment is always about us. It's showing us what we believe, what we want, what we have an expectation around, what we want a boundary around. That's nobody else's fault but our own, nobody else's responsibility but our own." Discover the 7-step forgiveness process that transformed my life and relationships. Uncover the stories and lenses that fuel resentment. From listing complaints to finding empathy - these steps will change your perspective. Break free from hidden expectations and focus on the facts, not opinions. But that's not true, because the emotion is felt it's not thought it's felt” I share my personal journey of realizing how my husband became my safe place, sparking a deep dive into strengthening our relationship. Emphasizing the importance of changing negative narratives and recognizing the power of challenging our assumptions about our partner's intentions. I illustrate this idea with relatable examples, like my visits to the nail salon, where I often grapple with whether to speak up or accept results I don't like. I discuss the adverse effects of continuous outsourcing, such as feeling lost and building up resentment. I stress the value of having a clear vision for different aspects of my life and making swift decisions while trusting my instincts. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of striking a balance between seeking support and maintaining my role as the director. I invite you to reflect on where you might be outsourcing in your life and consider regaining control of your own destiny. “Being the director means setting boundaries, knowing what you stand for, establishing boundaries that protect your energy, your happiness, your results, it's saying no a lot more than saying yes, that's all part of boundary setting.” Explore the importance of being the director of your own life rather than outsourcing decisions Understand the consequences of continuous outsourcing, such as feeling lost and building resentment Emphasize the need to establish a clear vision for various aspects of life to guide decision-making Finding a balance between seeking support and maintaining your role as the director of your life A call to evaluate where you might be outsourcing and regain control of your life. In today's episode, I'm finally back in my bedroom after a short stint in Scottsdale, gearing up for more summer travels. I've been reveling in the joy of routine while also recognizing the beauty of breaking away from it. Today, let's dive into a topic that's been on my mind – forging deeper connections with our kids as they grow. The parent-child dynamic evolves beyond just being caregivers, and I've got five powerful questions to help us navigate this journey. First up, ever wondered what your child truly wants to do with you? Let's explore that. Then, there's the question of understanding – what do they wish we knew about them? Delving into dislikes might not be easy, but it opens doors for improvement. And, how about asking them for alternatives – what could we do differently? Lastly, what can we do to enhance our relationship? Remember, these conversations evolve as they age, so let's adapt. Just like marriages, our bond with our children requires ongoing effort and intentional communication. Stay tuned for more insights, and if you're curious about my latest fashion find, hop over to my Instagram. Thanks for being here! “Something that I've always given my kids is age-appropriate truth. I did not lie to them. I do not tell them something is not true if they asked me outright, but I do make sure it's age appropriate in how I convey that truth to them.” Reflecting on the comfort of routine and the excitement of breaking away What activities do your kids really want to do with you? In this episode, I share recent experiences, from a gym mishap where I fractured my elbow during a warm-up exercise to enjoying summer travels with family in Colorado. As the one-year anniversary of my son Sterling's passing approaches, I'm contemplating how to celebrate his life authentically and find joy amidst grief. Uncertain about my online presence, I've decided to take a step back from social media and prioritize my role as a supportive wife and mother while my husband's business grows. Embracing this new direction, I'm excited for the future and open to creative paths while cherishing cherished memories and family moments. “I'm not that person anymore. There are parts of me that are still the same for sure. And I still definitely have beliefs that are the same. But I'm not the person that's wanting to show up talking about the same thing.” How I fractured my elbow at the gym Give yourself permission to not always have all the answers Giving yourself permission to love your role without pressure Show up when you feel called to it Link for the resentment trap: https://www.levelupbabe.com/thelevelupclub Link for pay in full coupon code: PAYINFULL Connect with me: Email: behealthywithjoy@gmail.com / joy@levelupbabe.com Website: level-up-babe.mykajabi.com Instagram: @joyharrington.ig / @levelupbabe.ig Facebook: Joy HarringtonTikTok: @joyharrington01 YouTube: Joy Harrington - LEVEL UP Babe
In this episode, I will explore unique ways to reignite the spark in your marriage. Instead of conventional advice, I focus on challenging negative stories we tell ourselves about our relationship and replacing them with positive narratives. I will also discuss the impact of our surroundings and the people we surround ourselves with, as well as the importance of the music we listen to. Visualization plays a key role, helping us create a mental movie of our ideal marriage. Additionally, I emphasize the power of gratitude and praise, training our minds to focus on the positives in our partners. Join me in lighting up our marriages and sharing this episode with friends who seek to do the same! “When we have a story, when we have something going on inside of us, we're like, I just don't feel this way or whatever. In this deeply personal episode, I will share the heartbreaking journey of my son Sterling's life and passing. From a perfect pregnancy to the shock of his sudden death, I recount the red flags and concerns that were overlooked. It was later discovered that Sterling contracted Group B strep, leading to pneumonia and sepsis. Through my story, I aim to raise awareness about this condition and encourage expectant mothers to trust their instincts and advocate for their health. I express gratitude for the support received and emphasize the importance of compassionate support for those grieving. Despite the pain, I hold onto the belief that Sterling's story is not over and that his memory can make a difference in preventing such tragic losses. Let's come together to promote Group B strep awareness and protect our little ones from preventable harm. “I hope more than anything, that this just helps people to have awareness so that they can prevent this from happening, because it doesn't need to happen. And so I just want to leave you with that.” The first night with the baby It's not about having the right words, it's about showing them What Is Group B strep? I'm giving you a heads-up now that this podcast will be a little bit different for today's episode. This is going to be a real episode where I share a little bit about what has happened to me over the past couple of years, the loops that I got stuck in, the shame and baggage that got triggered for me, especially on a spiritual level that has kept me feeling small, playing small, feeling lost, relying on other people, not being confident, not being completely honest without shame, not trusting myself over other people, and what God has done through the death of my son, Sterling. Let's get vulnerable and enjoy this episode! “Do not lower that standard for yourself. This is how you become unfuckwithable. No one knows better than you. You know the best. In today's episode, we'll discuss frustration and the function it plays in your life, which is actually much more important than most people believe. We attempt to stay away from frustration. Your flashing lights are a signal that there is more for you. We express our dissatisfaction by expressing that this is not enough. I truly don't enjoy this irritation because it reveals to us where we have been complacent and where we are no longer in line with what we are doing, receiving, having, and what is coming in the appropriate fury. With that in mind, I'm going to explain to you today what the point of irritation is and how you should use it to motivate you to work more. To know more about this conversation, tune in to this episode and enjoy! “Your desires were placed in you by God, they are your roadmap to your path where you're supposed to go, what you're supposed to do, where you're supposed to live all of those things.” Frustration is an invitation to the next level Don't judge yourself for your desires The difference between life coaching and business coaching Connect with me: Email: behealthywithjoy@gmail.com / joy@levelupbabe.com Website: level-up-babe.mykajabi.com Instagram: @joyharrington.ig / @levelupbabe.ig Facebook: Joy HarringtonTikTok: @joyharrington01 YouTube: Joy Harrington - LEVEL UP Babe
When you feel like nothing is working and that everything is starting to fall apart, it's usually because something in you was triggered. This means that something that happened to you may have led you to retreat because it sparked a fear or a tale in your mind. You have to back away from it and leave. And when it occurs, make an effort to follow the advice I'll give in this episode. To know more about this conversation, tune in to this episode and enjoy! “God has to figure out the how, and it doesn't mean you surrender or do nothing. It means you take inspired action, and you don't care how it looks or how it adds up. Every time you put something off, you are essentially choosing to avoid putting yourself in that position. Your duty is to do the action, put yourself in a position, and let it happen. You are choosing to position yourself for something else because you are always putting yourself in a position to receive. What are you setting yourself to receive, and how are you changing your behavior or approach if you don't like what you've been receiving? Our decisions lead to an easy life, yet simple choices lead to a painful existence. When resistance arises for something that they want to incorporate—whether it's a new routine, a new habit, a new response, altering a pattern, starting a business, improving their relationship with their significant other, or whatever it is—people often become stuck. That gap needs to be filled quite significantly. I'll talk to you about my own experience with this problem and show you what you can do. In this episode, we'll talk about one of the biggest things that trips women up which is future tripping. This is when we consider a current event and then consider what might happen if it occurs again in the future. What if this starts to repeat itself? This entire scenario of what might occur has been developed by us. I'm referring primarily to the fact that we continually scrutinize everything that occurs in our lives today. And rather than dealing with it right away, we concentrate on turning it into a significant problem for the future that may or may not exist. To learn more on how to live in the present and how to avoid future tripping, tune in to this episode and enjoy! “If you want something new, you have to wake up and see each day with a fresh set of eyes, you have to see the people in your life with a fresh set of eyes, you have to see yourself with a fresh set of eyes, you have to see opportunity with a fresh set of eyes.” What is future tripping? In this episode, we'll discuss eliminating filler and doing it in your feminine. Before I go any further, let me just say that there has been a part of me that has been wanting to just have fun with what I'm doing, what I'm creating, and my podcast. I want to stop feeling the need to constantly teach and just show up and share more of what I'm experiencing, what I'm doing, and what I'm learning. We'll discuss that today while doing your feminine because I believe that's what 2023 will be for me. Tune in to this episode and enjoy! “You don't have to just sit around doing nothing. If you want to be in your feminine, you're definitely allowed to do it, we do it all day, we do it in lots of ways.” Dissolving filler and doing in your feminine The process of coming back to me Give yourself permission to lean into your femininity Connect with me:Email: behealthywithjoy@gmail.com / joy@levelupbabe.com Website: level-up-babe.mykajabi.comInstagram: @joyharrington.ig / @levelupbabe.igFacebook: Joy HarringtonTikTok: @joyharrington01 YouTube: Joy Harrington - LEVEL UP Babe
In this episode, my husband is back on the show with us. We are discussing how taking a step back can help you achieve freedom in your life. And I really wanted us to talk about this because when you're an entrepreneur or an online influencer, there's so much pressure to have more, be more, and do more. We live online in a culture that basically says, "If you're not taking steps forward, if you're not going bigger or going better, something is wrong with you." Tune in to this episode to learn more about this topic, and have fun! “It's okay to slow down and not try to top your last launch. It's okay to take a step or two back to take a couple of giant leaps forward.” How to avoid the squeaky wheel of success Building a runway for growth Define the dance in your relationship and business Connect with me:Email: behealthywithjoy@gmail.com / joy@levelupbabe.com Website: level-up-babe.mykajabi.comInstagram: @joyharrington.ig / @levelupbabe.igFacebook: Joy HarringtonTikTok: @joyharrington01 YouTube: Joy Harrington - LEVEL UP Babe
In this episode, we'll talk about the feminine and how, even when she wants to close, the feminine chooses to lean in and be soft, vulnerable, and open. Let me tell you this, choosing to lean in and be open when it's difficult, when all she wants to do is protect herself, when all she wants to do is run away, when all she wants to do is take control, is how the feminine actually evolves. By remaining open, gentle, and leaning in even when it's hard, the feminine actually flourishes. With that, I'm going to share to you the fine balance with it. Learn a lot from this episode and enjoy! “We grow when the hard things happen; that we choose to keep going. That's where character is formed. That's where grit is formed. That's where perseverance is formed. And guess what, that's where we stay not only open and soft and approachable but that's where we get to find a new level of ourselves.” Romanticizing motherhood and making it fun The fine balance of taking care of yourself and upholding your boundaries We get to become who we want to be Connect with me:Email: behealthywithjoy@gmail.com / joy@levelupbabe.com Website: level-up-babe.mykajabi.comInstagram: @joyharrington.ig / @levelupbabe.igFacebook: Joy HarringtonTikTok: @joyharrington01 YouTube: Joy Harrington - LEVEL UP Babe
Why you shouldn't shield your man from facing obstacles? Being a man involves growth and challenges. Sometimes we protect them to the point of stifling their development; in other cases, we do so by shielding them from the challenge, the difficult, and the battle that they need to experience to develop since it is a manly truth that men develop through difficulty. They truly don't increase in comfortability, which makes them different from women. I sincerely hope you enjoy this episode and learn more about it! “Men that have self-discipline are men that you can see self-discipline as a part of their life. They know how to say No, you can tell just by looking at their physique.” Men who have self-discipline are men who will step up across the board Men are not like women, they need battles Letting them see who they are and how they are Connect with me:Email: behealthywithjoy@gmail.com / joy@levelupbabe.com Website: level-up-babe.mykajabi.comInstagram: @joyharrington.ig / @levelupbabe.igFacebook: Joy HarringtonTikTok: @joyharrington01 YouTube: Joy Harrington - LEVEL UP Babe
Do you need to lower your expectations this holiday season? Recently, I've noticed that I'm having a lot of stronger reactions to things that I normally wouldn't respond to so quickly or feel like I go from zero to sixty in one second. That is not typical of me. And it's an invitation to examine my expectations more closely. When you have stronger reactions, when you are short-tempered, when you are struggling to respond well, it is simply a sign that you have a very high expectation. Today, in this podcast, you are encouraged to lower your expectations of yourself and who you need to be and how you need to show up and how many ways you need to show up and how many roles you're playing and how many things you're committed to. Listen in to this episode to learn more about this! “You don't need to prove anything to anyone. And you don't need to be everything to everyone or anything to anyone.” Are you expecting too much of yourself right now? Where do you need to be self- honoring? Today, we're going to talk about how surrendering is the way to go. I was reflecting on my life, just my story, and realized that every turning point in my life occurred after I reached the point of surrender. There were times in my life when I was so angry that I was dealing with emotional crap, so angry that I felt emotionally messed up and traumatized. I was simply messed up. But when I finally surrendered, it was like finding your location on a map. Listen to this episode to learn more about this! “God is calling us to equip ourselves with the tools to walk differently, to walk in freedom, to walk in healing, to be chain breakers to help our kids grow up in not having the wounds that we had growing up and to help equip them to step into their mission.” What have I been doing all these last years? The major subject of the show today is taken from Max Lucado's book "The Oak Inside the Acorn," which is about a young acorn who is told by his mother, "Don't worry, within you is a great oak. Just be the Tree God made you to be." Each of us has a special talent, a special calling, and a special intrinsic worth. We discover our value in who God made us to be when we live into that by claiming who we are and what God is calling us to instead of striving to be like everyone else, do it like everyone else, or appear like everyone else. To know more about this, tune in to this episode! “When you try to be like everybody else and you try to fit in, you miss what God put you here to do. You miss your giftings, you miss who God created you to be. I don't know who needs to hear this today but within you as a great person, just be who God made you to be.” We all have an inner child that wants to know if we have value What God has called us to do, not what other people are doing, is what we are to live out You're not supposed to fit in You have a mission, you're a chain breaker. Today, we're going to talk about how to have challenging conversations. These conversations can be with your partner, your children, your coworkers, or even a client. And the majority of us weren't really taught or given examples of how to navigate them in a way that can truly achieve the intended objective. With that said, we're going to concentrate on a few key lessons for challenging talks today because doing so can actually exacerbate a pattern or problem with a child or with your marriage. And it will keep you in a loop that never seems to end, spinning around and around and around. “People won't feel safe when they express something to you. And your immediate response back to them is your defense, or your argument back or your thing back, people feel safe with you. When they say something, and instead of you giving a response back, you just show them that you're there to hear them.” When people feel heard and seen you typically defuse any emotions that are underneath What we all want to hear is “I'm sorry” When we feel seen, heard, and safe, we want to be those things for them Give what you want to receive Connect with me:Email: behealthywithjoy@gmail.com / joy@levelupbabe.com Website: level-up-babe.mykajabi.comInstagram: @joyharrington.ig / @levelupbabe.igFacebook: Joy HarringtonTikTok: @joyharrington01 YouTube: Joy Harrington - LEVEL UP Babe
We're going to talk about seasons today, specifically spiritual seasons, because most of us aren't taught how to grasp the times and seasons as they relate to our lives and our businesses. You may not understand how much more it affects. And if you're experiencing a sense of being stuck, it's possible that you don't grasp the times and seasons and are instead becoming stuck in one rather than seeing God's timing in them. This is because God genuinely has timing for the seasons. Tune in to this episode and enjoy! “Don't fight the seasons, lean into the seasons, because that's where you're going to level up. That's where God is going to call you into a deeper thing into bigger assignment. So embrace the seasons, you're not alone.” The importance of understanding the time and seasons Why women feel so tired and uninspired in their business What is a spiritual harvest season? When did things start to shift and click for you? I came to understand that the main reason most people have trouble working on themselves and trying to recover is that they are preoccupied with just one issue. We are not segmented, and they are dealing with one issue at a time, whether it is their thoughts, their emotions, their body, their business, or something else entirely. Everything in us reflects everything outside of us, and everything affects everything else. However, I was also considering it from a spiritual perspective—namely, when we are not in tune with our spirit. When we do not walk in accordance with God and His will, we are not in tune with our spirits. We are moving according to our will. To know more about this, tune in to this episode and enjoy! “We will feel disconnected to others, we will feel uncertain to others, we will feel not as powerful to others. In today's episode, I'd like to talk about how women are caught in a never-ending loop of needing to better themselves, never feeling satisfied, and never feeling like they've arrived in this life. And they go about their daily lives in quiet desperation, expecting that something will come along and suddenly change everything. And they'll finally have the marriage, the business, the money, the fill-in-the-blank, and they'll finally have the feeling of happiness, serenity, joy, enjoying their life, whatever. And it's driving them to waste their lives looking outside of themselves for something that they will never find. I talk on this subject because I have lived and experienced it firsthand. Tune in to this episode and enjoy! “Healing is not complicated and healing is available to more people than we would believe. People that come to me for help are already conscious that they wish to work on their inner issues. The fact that the majority of them are parents and wish to ensure that their children do not experience the same problems that they did as children is a recurring subject. They want to raise their kids differently so that they can advance and be in a better position. With that, in this episode, I want to assist you in doing it with your children now. Let's discuss spiritual bypassing versus mindset work in this episode, as well as how to combine honoring feelings with moving forward. People have said things like, "You can't just think positive," because doing so would mean disregarding the pressing issues. You may have also heard others state that your perspective and way of thinking about things determine everything. So how do we proceed through life? How can we be sovereign, choose how we want to view things, and do it in a way that empowers us and supports us while also honoring the path and being honest about what is happening? Check watch today's podcast to learn more about it! “That looks like anger release exercises, breathwork sessions that are specifically designed for somatic release. We are talking about lack of motivation and alignment today. Lack of motivation is actually a sign of a damaged nervous system. It's a sign of internalized trauma or feelings. The majority of people are unaware of the fact that they are running their lives and businesses based on old myths and ideas that are ingrained in our nervous system and hidden deep within us. When we have trauma and emotions that are stored in our nervous system, it will keep us from speaking from a place of authenticity and our authentic voice. It will also keep us from trying to prove untrue stories about us while also trying to live up to expectations that will demonstrate that we are enough. Want to know more about this, listen to this episode and fight out more about it! “You have a firm structured vision, you have a firm knowledge and understanding of who you are, you have a firm knowledge and understanding of what you desire, you know what your non-negotiables are, and it's not based on who you feel you need to be. It's not based on old wounds. Showing up and proving that we're enough or we're not this or that.” Lack of motivation is a symptom of an unhealed nervous system Where does misalignment come from? You've read crazy Bible stories your entire life. But because you've grown up reading them so much, you've normalized them. Or perhaps you have a part of you that thinks, "Well, that might happen to individuals in the Bible, but not to me." And he has reminded me that the Bible is the starting point, that we are a living testimony, and that we are also writing a testament like people in the Bible did. I recorded an entire webinar on this topic, as well as how to access your spirit and enter it, in order to learn how to truly hear from God on a deeper level and receive your instructions, precise answers to your inquiries, your mission, and your vision of what lies ahead for your life. immediate responses to your questions from God. And that's the main topic of today's show. “We have forgotten that we are connected to God that we have a spirit that is from God, right? That we are in truth in him, grounded in him. And so, it's more about waking up and remembering that connection to God. It's not that you are separated from Him, if that makes sense.” What does it mean to walk by faith and not by sight?
