Prophecies about Israel’s coming Messiah are all throughout the Hebrew Scriptures, but Isaiah 53 is such a concise and precise description of this Messiah, who sounds just like Jesus! Written about 700 years before Jesus’ birth, we all - Jew and Gentile alike - can find comfort in the reliability of God’s Word and His promises for us. Meet Jesus in the Hebrew book of Isaiah and meet people who have met Jesus! We all need this Messiah.

God tells them very plainly through the prophet Isaiah, that He does not want that kind of worship but instead wants their hearts. We struggle with the same issue today, though it may look a lot different. Even if we are not bowing down to pagan idols, our hearts are often bowing down to something or someone other than God.
