We're guessing you know what the Myers Briggs Personality test is? Don't feel bad if you don't, but with over 2 million people taking the test a year - for work or otherwise - there's bound to have been at least one, telling you all about their “type indicator” and who they are as a person without being prompted? Annoying? Very. But how valid is the test really? Are you actually going to discover things about who you are that you weren't aware of? Does it help you change as a person, or succeed in your career? Or is this just another horoscope-type thing we love to indulge in? If you're new here, we take this episode to answer those questions, try the test for ourselves and see if it's worth the bother doing. If you're not, then you knew that already (and thanks for being here again xoxo)Liked this episode or have a suggestion for something we should bother doing? We'd love your review! Hey Everyone! On this week’s episode, we have a really interesting conversation based on a suggestion by listener Michelle Kenyon about the Myers-Briggs personality type system. We first explain the background and purpose of Myers-Briggs for those who are unfamiliar. We had both previously taken the test for ourselves and discovered that: AJ is an INTP, while Tara’s type has changed from ISFJ to INFP. We discuss the characteristics of our respective types and how they relate to our own personalities. Then we take the test for Eve, and based on our answers, we find that Eve’s personality type is ISTJ, also known as the Logistician. ISTJs are practical, fact-minded individuals who value stability and predictability. But what we found most interesting is one of the suggested careers for ISTJs is: Law enforcement! It was a really great conversation and I think you’ll enjoy listening to it!

Why is it that someone's well intentioned question might land the wrong way? if you are going to ask great questions – you've got to understand that it's more than just asking open-ended questions. It's helpful to know how others will hear and experience your questions. Let's explore four different styles based on Myers Briggs Personality preferences. STRATEGIC THINKER Strategic Thinkers seek to understand a thing by turning it upside, inside-out and over and over again. They ask more questions that help them see the big picture and strategy from all the angles. However, in pursuit of satisfying curiosity and wanting to understand, these questions can sound like debating and trigger a defensive response unintentionally. Pro-tip – notice body language. If someone's posture changes, if their tone gets more tense, if their face gets tight or their responses more terse, then shift your question asking style. BRIDGE BUILDER Bridge builders look to ask questions that help find common ground. It's less about specific detailed content and more on making connections by asking questions. However, these questions can sometimes feel disconnected. Less than relevant. And lingering too long feels like derailing the conversation. Pro-tip – notice confusion or frustration or tuning out. Switch to summarizing or paraphrasing to capture the conversation. PROBLEM SOLVERS Problem solvers are able to see all the parts and details and that's where they camp out when asking questions. They see everything through the lens of problems to be solved. Sometimes people aren't ready for the next step. Pro tip - notice if the next step is a no-brainer but other people in the room aren't getting on board; then pause and back up by asking different kinds of questions. COMPASSIONATE CONNECTOR Compassionate Connectors will ask questions that help them step into other people's shoes and understand their situation so they can gather details and understand what people need and what action can be taken. Pro-tip – notice when people respond with a “but wait” tone or answer your very direct and specific questions with a “left field” sort of answer. That's an indicator that you and that other person are probably looking through a different lens of curiosity and you can ask different questions. Hey y'all! September is halfway done! Can you believe it? On this episode I'm taking about the results of my Myers-Briggs Personality test and how surprised I was at the accuracy of the results! If you haven't taken the quiz and are curious about what your outcome would be, click the accompanying link: https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test I am also talking about what I've processed to be over-dependability as a trauma response - specifically, taking on responsibilities or doing things for others from a place of fear or trauma instead of love. Your Unique GeniusSeason 1, Episode 16 Each of us has our own unique experiences, interests, talents and abilities. You also have your own unique goals, dreams and desires. Tapping into your unique source of power is the only way to find fulfillment. To do this, you need to understand your self, more. There are 2 tools I have have been using for 10 years: Myers Briggs Personality test and the CliftonStrengths (or StrengthsFinder) Assessment. These tools help use understand our talents so we can be intentional about using them to create different results. You can take the Myers Briggs Personality test at www.16personalities.com. You can take the CliftonStrengths assessment at shorturl.at/gBRSU. 3:07 - The 16 Personalities assessment is a Myers Briggs assessment. I love the descriptive, qualitative and emotionally powerful words about your personality. When you find words that resonate with you, you better understand yourself. 6:28 - Being on extravert vs. introvert is really about where you get your energy from. Is it from other people and being in a group, or recharging in solitude? 8:16 - The observant and intuitive personality gets their information about the world in very different ways. 9:35 - The feeling and thinking people make decisions in a very different way, but both need to “feel” good about our decisions. 10:14 - People can be other judging or prospecting in how they think about or view the world. This does not mean people are judgement as much as it is about seeing the world in black and white terms. 12:18 - After you take this assessment, study the results. Highlight the emotional words you resonate with and create affirmation to strengthen these parts of your self, or add them to a self-image script. 12:51 - The CliftonStrengths assessment is very excited because it uses a strength based approach, the idea you get better results in life than trying to improve your weakness. 15:20 - This assessment codifies all of human behavior into 34 talents so you can identify you natural abilities and invest in developing those talents to magnify them. 18:05 - Read and study the results of CliftonStrengths with repetition and work these ideas into your self-image, see Episode 11: Self-image is Everything. 19:21 - These assessments will identify some weaknesses, also. But in every weakness, there is a gift and you can shift these weaknesses into strengths by using the methods described in Episode 2: How to Reprogram Your Mind. 20:22 - The fulfillment you are seeking is accomplished by saying “Yes” to your talents, abilities and your desires. — If this episode inspired you or resonated in some way, don't forget to subscribe to never miss an episode. How is our personality different from the people around us? In a previous video, we talked about the Myers-Briggs test. If you haven't already watched this video, you can check it out after watching this one. But in this video, we'll take a closer look at the Myers-Briggs test - a method of sorting and categorizing different personalities.

Vedic astrology can be profoundly healing. This practice is capable of giving validation, insight, language, and names to various aspects of ourselves that may enable us to adjust our short comings, embrace our strengths, and bring a deeper understanding to various parts of our mind, personality qualities, body, family, partners, and self. In this segment I discuss why I believe Vedic Astrology to be helpful in this life - in a practical and spiritual sense. I discuss my perspective of the Vedic birth chart as being a blue print of our karma - an indicator as to what we are meant to experience, heal, and confront in this life. A Vedic reading can be profoundly helpful in cultivating awareness and giving language to various aspects of ourselves. This awareness can assist in giving us deeper direction in where we should be directing our focus in order to grow and evolve to our greatest capacity. However, I also discuss how identifying with a Vedic chart, Human Design, Enneagram, Myers Briggs Personality, etc. may actually be counter productive to true, deep self-realization. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: MacKenzie: Suffering with candida and am planning on doing your protocol with some supplements from my functional med doctor. What is the diet you recommend? I couldn't find a podcast that went into detail with this. Gaby: Hello I am a 44 year old female who lives in Perth Western AustraliaFor the past few years, my blood test results have shown a positive thyroid antibodies :a TSH reading of 4.68 in 2019, 4.22 in 2020, similar reading recent blood test last week . Subclinical hypothyroidism antithyroid peroxidase reading 226 IU/ml. My GP has told me I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, but its not too significant tot commence thyroxine, although he feels that I will have to in the future.Im wondering if this can be corrected naturally. Eg supplements, dietary adjustment etc. I have been taking Thompson’s kelp supplement for the past 3 months. I'm not sure if this has been beneficial.Regards Gaby Michelle: Hi Dr. Cabral,I appreciate your podcast so much. It has been instrumental in helping me, especially the mindset and motivation mondays, as I suffer from anxiety and depression.I am 35, vegan (recently tested, no deficiencies), COM-T met/met, with chronicle sinusitis since I was young. I also have alopecia areata, eczema, have been in several car accidents and have had to process the death of both of my parents in the last decade. Recently I have started intranasal corticosteroids, which do help but I know this is not a sustainable situation. I am also having a really hard time emotionally since stopping depo provera, so I got prescribed Busiprone and Hydroxyz. I also listened to your podcasts on seed cycling and started a month ago. My question is, what is the best way to undo mental and physical trauma in your body? I have thought about acupuncture and Rolfing especially. I can’t help but feel that my body is responding to the trauma I have experienced. Also I would like to know your opinion in inherited trauma, as my mother was a survivor of abuse and my father survived the dustbowl, imprisonment and many other traumatic life events. Thanks for all you do! Lara: Hi, dr. Cabral:)I’ve listened to your podcasts about the perfect breakfast and heard on so many episodes what you do for your first meal (smoothie & sometimes oatmeal) but I don’t have the time to make the smoothie in the morning because I work for the family I live with and when they come downstairs my work starts but before that I don’t want to wake them up with sounds of the blender, hehe.. so after my lemon water I just eat mono meals of fruit until lunch which is usually quite late (sometimes later than 3pm) which makes me feel quite run down considering I’m predominantly a vata.. and also my gut isn’t ok yet, so I probably shouldn’t consume that much fruit. Any suggestions on what and how I should eat? Also, when to take which supplements, with meals or away from them, which can go together and which should be taken apart from each other? I’ve heard Ester C should be consumed on its own but with a meal that doesn’t contain fruit, Magnesium should also be taken on its own one hour before bedtime, but now I’ve heard it should be taken together with Zinc for better absorption.. when to take vitamin D during the day? All this contradicting information is so confusing so your help means A LOT!! Thank you so much & never change because you’re a light at the end of the tunnel Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral.Have you ever heard about the myer briggs personality type test?If so what’s your opinion about it?And if you have completed it, maybe you could reveal your result ;-)!Thanks for everything doc! David: Why is vitamin B12 so widely recommended by doctors and health practitioners, but not a B Complex? Is it because B12 deficiency is so much more severe than deficiencies in B3, B5, B6, etc.? “One thing that I would never change about myself is my sensitivity.” “It’s been a journey because I grew up thinking my sensitivity was a flaw…” This was one of the many valuable insights that was shared by Sandra, our latest podcast guest on the That’s Deep Podcast. Sandra Etherington is a mother of two, an Enneagram 1, INFJ, and an MBTI and MMTIC Certified Family Type Practitioner who currently lives in Bend, Oregon. She also runs a podcast, called Family Personalities. She uses the Myers-Briggs Personality Type System (MBTI) to help type parents and their kids, so that they can better understand each other, have more compassion for one another, parent more effectively, and work in harmony with their spouse. MBTI has been a big part of helping her understand her sensitivity in all aspects (strengths and weaknesses). What she most loves about herself as a parent, partner, and friend is her ability to step into what's really happening with other people’s emotions and have deep empathy. Without her sensitivity, her super power wouldn’t be there. I appreciate her efforts to start changing the narrative around sensitivity and being sensitive. She is a sensitive mother who encourages us to see our sensitivities as a gift and not a weakness. Listen to the episode to learn helpful tips on parenting kids of different personality types! We also talk about how to manage your energy as an introverted mother and we break down how you can use MBTI to help enhance your family relationships. You’ll absolutely want to bookmark and save this episode if you’re a parent who’s looking to improve their relationship with their children, if you work with children and want to work with them more effectively and compassionately, or if you’re looking to improve your relationship with your spouse. What if you could embrace your innateness…and stop doing stuff you suck at? The Myers-Briggs personality type assessment is the most popular personality test in the world. But what does it have to do with business? What if you knew how to focus, how to hire, how to plan, and how to operate in the day-to-day of your business based on your strengths, and surrounded yourself with people who have amazingly valuable–but very different–strengths than you? We all have strengths and very specific things we’re great at. Likewise, we all have things that we are NOT innately good at. In this episode we will discuss the 16 different personality types of the Myers-Briggs (Personality) Type Indicator or MBTI personality inventory used to make the theory of psychological types described by C.G. Jung understandable and useful in people's lives. The essence of the theory is that much is that seemingly random variation in the behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent, being due to basic differences in the ways individuals prefer to use their perception and judgement. I must say the personality types are spot on to an astonishing degree. We will discuss strengths, weaknesses, and primary mindsets of each type as well as what best career choices, relationship compatibility, percentage of each type, and much more! If you haven't taken the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Test, please do so at www.16personalities.com - it's a free, online, 12 minute test. 12 minutes that may change your life for the better. The ancient quote of ultimate power is "Know Thyself". In this episode we are hoping to help each listener do just that. Sue Ellen is off tonight, but I'll be joined by my good friend Elaine Burnham who introduced me to this knowledge approximately two years ago. This is going to be a fascinating, exciting show and exploration for each of us.
In this episode we go Balls 2 The Wall about the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator Test and how it originated! We then dive into our personalities and how understanding who we are and why we think the ways we do has helped us in life. We then get into the other 14 personalities and their traits. Around the 1:22:00 mark we discuss Characterology, what it is and the 5 Characters that we as humans can be.
“In this new economy, people are looking for authenticity. People are looking for people being themselves.” - Janelle Lara (42:33-43:00)Janelle Lara The Part-Time CEO Entrepreneurs need to learn about themselves and their ideal clients to thrive in today's marketplace. Having a deep understanding of who you are and how you work helps you create the right environment for success. Sarah Arnold at Blue Stocking helps entrepreneurs create powerful marketing messages using the Myers-Briggs personality types. Through a unique “personality matchmaking” process, business owners learn how to use language and messaging to attract the right clients. “You reach people better when you can speak their language.” - Sarah Arnold (9:18-9:22) Entrepreneurs often focus too much on client acquisition, sales, and marketing. They overlook the importance of attracting clients who will get the most out of their work together. You can use personality types to influence your online messaging, reach the right clients, and gain an upper hand in the marketplace. The Myers-Briggs personality test is both a science and an art. Understanding how people are pulled towards certain preferences is an invaluable skill for business and life. Authenticity is impossible for entrepreneurs who try to adapt or copy other people's languages. They can't express a message that resonates with their ideal clients. Effective communication comes down to understanding your personality type and balancing it with others. Understanding Preferences and Personality TypesThere are 4 sets of preferences seen in people's personalities: Extrovert/Introvert. Extroverts get their energy from external sources. They are people of action who deal with information from the outside world. Introverts rely on internal sources of energy. They prioritize ideas and reflection while dealing more with the inner world. Intuitive/Sensing. Intuitive people are curious about the “why” behind everything. They think in abstract terms and are theoretical and future-oriented. Sensing individuals think more concretely, focusing on the who, what, when, and where of things. They think in terms of facts and experience. Feeling/Thinking. The feeling preference emphasizes other people and their feelings. These individuals look for value and are often seen as warm and tender-hearted. Thinkers focus on ideas and trust. Others might see them as impersonal, focused on truth, and even a little cold. Judging/Perceiving. Judging personality types focus on scheduling and time-management. They prefer structure and organization. Perceivers are less planned and go with the flow. They're open to change, flexible, and spontaneous. Each personality type can be grouped into specific categories: NF (Intuitive Feeling): Characteristics include authenticity, empathy, ethics, and a search for self. NT (Intuitive Thinking): These individuals are characterized by a desire for power over their own thoughts and represented by theoretical and scientific ways of thinking. SJ (Sensing Judging): Logistics, reliable, respectable, and service-oriented are some character traits of SJ individuals. SP (Sensing Perceiving): Those who fall under this category are known for their artistry and sense of aesthetics. They're often better suited for the entrepreneurial path due to their desire for freedom. “It's important to first know yourself. How am I different from you? How are you different from me? How do see the world and learn about it? How do we make decisions? Personality theory, as we understand it in pop culture, is about unique gifts & individuality and how we interface with the world. In other words: How I'm different from you, and how we can live in relationship with these differences. Maximizing our strengths, appreciating our differences. We can choose to not live in judgment of our weaknesses. This speaks beautifully to the Desire Line path -- sometimes following the paved path doesn't bring the results it promises (union with God), because we're made in a way that doesn't fit the model. We have to discover our God-given way of walking. All of these and more in this episode. We hope you stay tuned! In Part 1 of a 3-Part series on Emotional Healing & Chinese Medicine Brodie talks with a long-time patient, “Marcia” - not her real name, per her request. Brodie and Marcia talk about how acupuncture helped her let go of emotions related to post-traumatic stress that she developed after a camping trip with her husband that led to an ER visit and emergency quadruple-bypass surgery. Marcia's story is a powerful example of how acupuncture can help us let go of stuck energy in the form of emotions. Marcia also describes how understanding herself from a Chinese Medicine perspective helped her to develop self-compassion, self-love, and appreciation. In particular, we get into the notion of Constitutional Type. Kind of like the Myers-Briggs Personality test, your astrological sign, your Enneagram number, or your Ayurvedic Dosha, Chinese Medicine likens different aspects of our physiology, psychology, and mental tendencies to the elements of nature: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Knowing your constitutional type can help you maintain balance in your life by illuminating natural strengths and identifying challenges. In this episode, we explore: Issues that Marcia has used Acupuncture to help treat What part of the acupuncture process is most helpful in treating these issues? How the pre-treatment interview process helps patients tune in to deeper issues Emotional release during treatment and emotions as qi How slowing down our lives can help us feel more in control Having compassion for yourself How identifying your constitutional type can help you keep yourself and your life in balance Similarities and differences between emotional healing in acupuncture and talk therapy Resources: If you are interested in discovering your particular constitutional type, you can take a little quiz at http://brodiewelch.com/chinese-element-quiz/ If you're wanting a deep-dive into this stuff, my Basics of Chinese Medicine course starting this October was designed just for you. When we can act with greater self-awareness, we open ourselves up to new possibilities. Recognizing that we don't have to be bound by our go-to tendencies and habits, we are free to stretch into the fullness of our potential on all levels. We may even discover new latent superpowers — inner strengths we have yet to tap. If that's strikes you as interesting, please head over to brodiewelch.com and you can read more about it under the “Learn from Home” tab. We start Oct. 3rd.
