This week Grant Crenshaw speaks on what true rest is and isn't in today's culture.
As we discuss kicking off a new series, Charlie is joined by Seniors Cole Hancock and Skylar Parker. They talk about their experiences to prove the fact that you can be physically drained while being spiritually revived. In our exhausting lives, the rest that the world offers pales in comparison to the Holy Spirit within us who brings rest to our souls.

Matthew 11:25-30 People look for rest in different places, but Jesus invites us to true, deep, eternal rest for our souls by coming to him and learning from him.
February 23, 2025 Daily Devotion: "Finding True Rest in Christ" Matthew 11:28-30 New Living Translation 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” In Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV), Jesus invites those who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. This passage beautifully illustrates the heart of Christ's ministry and His desire to give us peace in our lives. He says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Here, Jesus calls us to lay down our struggles and find solace in Him. The burdens we carry can be physical, emotional, or spiritual, but the promise is clear: He offers a yoke that is easy and a burden that is light. The imagery of a yoke signifiespartnership; we are not alone in our struggles. Instead, we share the load with Christ, who walks alongside us. As we reflect on this passage, let us remember that true rest comes from surrendering our worries and trusting in God's provision. We can bring our challenges to Him in prayer, knowing He cares deeply for our well-being (1 Peter 5:7). Let's reflect on how to accept this invitation and experience the rest that Jesus promises.

Maybe you have the same mindset as most Christians, “Pastors and evangelists are the ones that are called and supposed to go to other countries to tell people about Jesus. It's not my job.” If that's what you're thinking, then you're in for a surprise today. Pastor Ricky is going to share that all work is holy work. This means that you're a missionary right where you are, right there in your job, your home, and your school. Are you being faithful to share Jesus with those around you?
Do you have that fire in your gut to always keep moving? Maybe you can't sit still and work doesn't even feel like work for you. Well, a solid work ethic is something to be thankful for but what about rest? What about Sabbath? Today Pastor Ricky reminds us that a day of rest is only a shadow of the eternal rest that we have in Christ. One day all of your work and effort will fade away as you begin your eternal life with Jesus. But what about now? Are you restful, restless, or fully rested? Remember the Sabbath was made for you, not you for it.
-15 December 2024- Stu ended off our last meeting for the year by preaching on Matthew 11 vs 28- true rest is only found in his presence. We ended off with a prayer tunnel- such a wonderful way to end off the year!

By feeding the five thousand, Jesus demonstrates His role as the Bread of Life, meeting both physical and spiritual needs with divine generosity. The message calls believers to find true rest and sustenance in Christ, aligning their lives with His presence and embodying His compassion and order in daily living.

Welcome to Christ Community Church of Wilmington NC. We are committed to teaching the Bible, transforming lives, and touching our world.
Do you feel you get enough rest in the course of your day or your week? Most people would probably say no – who couldn't use more rest? What if I were to tell you that you could be at rest right now. Even in the midst of whatever you're doing at this very moment, you can enjoy rest – the way God intended it. Because true rest is different than what we generally think it means. In fact, we can go all the way back to the story of creation to learn about how God sees rest and how it can completely change the way we view and experience genuine rest. In today's episode, host Jason Wieland is joined by Rachel Booth Smith, author of the new book Rest Assured. In this conversation Rachel and Jason talk about how what the Bible teaches about rest is different than our typical understanding, the role of intention, the uniqueness of the creation story found in Genesis, the difference between forced and relaxed faith, and much more. Doable Discipleship is a Saddleback Church podcast produced and hosted by Jason Wieland. It premiered in 2017 and now offers more than 380 episodes. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 Do you ever feel completely worn out? Health experts may advise remedies such as eating right, exercising regularly, and getting enough rest. To feel truly rested, many of us need seven to eight hours of sleep each night, and some of us may need even more. This is good advice, but sleep isn't the only rest we need. Jesus offers us true rest. Jesus promises a kind of spiritual rest unrecognized by the world's physical health experts. As the Creator of the world and of all humanity, Jesus knows us. He knows our weaknesses, our brokenness, and our struggles. He knows what weighs us down and wearies our bodies and souls. He also knows exactly what kind of rest we need. No healthy sleep routine with adequate deep sleep, dream sleep, and light sleep will provide the spiritual rest we need. Only Jesus can provide the rest that reaches to the depths of our souls. Jesus invites all who are exhausted—weighed down by the cares, obligations, stresses, and problems of life—to come to him. He invites us simply to ground ourselves in him and to follow him every day. Though Jesus doesn't promise us an easy path, he assures us he is “gentle and humble in heart”—and only in and through him will we find true rest for our souls. Jesus, our Savior and Lord, only in you can we find rest for our souls. Please provide the spiritual rest we need in you. Amen.
How does one find true rest amidst the chaos of daily responsibilities? On this journey inspired by Christine Caneʻs "Life and Leadership podcast," I explore this very question through the poignant story of Dr. Tam Wai Jia. Her transformative experience of practicing Sabbath during a challenging time left me yearning for my own meaningful Sabbath. As I recount her miraculous story and share my own late-night reflections, I invite you to ponder how we, too, can carve out sacred moments of rest in our hectic lives. My reflections reveal how God is asking me to shift my podcasting from meticulously scripted episodes to a more spontaneous, heartfelt approach. Feeling robotic and hindered by scripts, I found peace in speaking from the heart, leading to more genuine connections with you, my audience. Let's embrace authenticity together and find our own unique ways to experience a fulfilling Sabbath.Podcast mentionedChristine Caneʻs Life and Leadership Podcast with Propel Women: Leading a Fruitful Life with Dr. Tam Wai Jia. We live in a culture desperate for rest. Hoping to find it in the next purchase, accomplishment or season of life, we keep coming up empty and more exhausted than ever. Hebrews 4 holds out the promise of true rest, the obstacle that stands in the way and the only voice that will get us through.
God is faithful to deliver those who trust Him for help.
