Everything and all things related to INTERMITTENT FASTING WITH DIABETES! We discuss tips, tricks, challenges, and success stories for people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes living an intermittent fasting lifestyle. I have been T1D since 1997. I have succ
Wow! How exciting to start off the year with such an impactful interview! Bobbi was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in October 2021 with an A1c of 17.8. Right away, she knew that she needed to make some major changes. She immediately cut out sugar and adopted a low-carb diet. Then, in January 2023, she found intermittent fasting. Also, around that time, she met her now partner, Keith. Keith is a big influence in the intermittent fasting community and he helped her to adopt this lifestyle. Through diet and IF, Bobbi has been able to get her A1c down to 6.3, which is just amazing. In addition, she has been able to lose around 50lbs. Just an incredible story! I hope you enjoy it!
This will be the final episode of the year and I just wanted to give you an update on a few things that have been going on my life. First, I have been on Ozempic for ~10 or 11 weeks at this point and I'll give you an update on my impressions of it to date. Second, I'll update you on my fasting protocol, which has changed largely due to the impact of Ozempic. Third, I am trying out a new algorithm for my diabetes management, called iAPS (Apple (i) Artificial Pancreas System). I haven't been using it for very long but I already like it very much. Lastly, I've been battling sugar (yet again!) Maybe some of you can relate to this... I'll be back next year with more episodes!
Sarah has a great story and so much of it resonated deeply with me. If you are struggling to cut sugar out of your diet or if you are in the early stages of insulin resistance, don't miss this episode! After struggling with sugar addiction, Sarah decided that she needed to make some major lifestyle changes, which included cutting sugar and fasting regularly. While Sarah was never technically diagnosed with pre-diabetes or Type 2 diabetes, at a health check a few years ago, she had a borderline high fasting insulin level. In addition, through wearing a CGM, she saw that her BGs could go quite high after meals. The insulin resistance she was experiencing alarmed her and she promptly made lifestyle changes to prevent the insulin resistance from worsening. Ultimately, Sarah was successful at cutting sugar, improving her overall diet, and incorporating fasting into her routine. Very impressive! To learn more about Sarah, she can be found in the following places: Facebook: Overcoming Sugar and Processed Food Addiction - A Christian Support GroupWebsite: Sarah-erkel-grace.com Dr. Vera Tarman Episode referenced in the interview:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-fast-life-with-diabetes-intermittent-fasting/id1601043790?i=1000613322114
What a pleasure it was to catch up with Josh! While Josh is less than two years into his Type 1 diabetes diagnosis (30 years old), he has mastered his blood sugar management. His last A1c was 4.8! He attributes much of his success to fasting, which we discussed in depth. He continues to use fasting to ensure that all of his insulin settings are correct. Additionally, fasting has greatly helped him with exercise. Interestingly, after we spoke the last time, he experienced a delayed honeymoon period. He was initially confused by the lower insulin needs but, upon discussing these changes with his endocrinologist, he realized what was going on. Upon coming out of the honeymoon, he was able to use fasting to get his settings back to the right spot. Lastly, Josh has been able to lose around 40 pounds from a starting weight of 207. All in all, fasting has completely transformed his life and he is very passionate about sharing what he has learned with others. It's so great to hear from someone that is doing so well! Here's Josh's earlier interview:https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/29c5419f-c1c1-497e-a27b-94b103c81283/stream.mp3https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-fast-life-with-diabetes-intermittent-fasting/id1601043790?i=1000603236179
Thank you all so much for your outpouring of support after my "Diabetes Sucks" episode a few weeks ago. While I haven't totally reversed my insulin resistance, I have been able to improve it. I suspect the cause of my insulin resistance is hormone related as I believe I am entering peri-menopause (I'm 43 years old). To counteract the insulin resistance, I have started on a birth control pill (Slynd) to regulate my cycle and Ozempic to improve insulin sensitivity. While neither is a magic bullet, they have helped. Thanks again for all of your support - it really means a lot to me!
What a treat it was to speak to Adam and Nyree! They have been married for 33 years and are such a great example of a couple working well together to achieve their goals.Adam has had Type 1 diabetes for the last 35 years and adopted a keto diet several years ago. He has since super charged his blood sugar management by adding fasting to his routine. Adam's last A1C was 5.6, which is very impressive. His wife, Nyree, was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes, which was no surprise to her given her family history and her experience with gestational diabetes. Since finding fasting, she has been able to reverse her pre-diabetes without the use of medication, and greatly improve her blood sugars. In addition, both of them have lost weight, which was a secondary but welcome side effect of fasting.I loved speaking to both of them and hearing their stories at what is the beginning of their fasting journeys. I will continue to track them over time and hope to have them back on in the future. It was really a pleasure getting to know both of them!
I like Randi because she keeps it real. We all struggles as T1Ds to do many things, fasting included. Randi has had diabetes for 17 years and came to fasting about a year ago for both weight loss and better control over her blood sugars. After starting with a more relaxed protocol, Randi's fasting has now evolved into alternate day fasting. She also does multiple daily injections, which adds another layer of complexity to her fasting protocol. We dive deep on how she manages her insulin needs while doing longer fasts and we also talk about the struggles we all face as Type 1 diabetics. While Randi is making progress, she still has weight loss and A1C goals that she'd like to achieve. I have no doubt that she will reach her goals. Randi was a joy to speak with and she was incredibly honest. I hope you get a lot out of her episode!
Sorry to be a downer but I owe it to you to be real. This past week has been terrible for me diabetes-wise. All of my settings seem to be wrong and I am forced to eat around the clock. As a result, I have gained 6 pounds in 1 week (ARGH!!!!). I have no idea how this will turn around but I wanted to give you a window into the struggle that I am facing currently. Maybe you are going through the same thing. I think it helps for all of us to know that we are not alone.
It was such a treat to speak to Tracey! She was so generous with the details of her story. After struggling with her weight for most of her adult life, Tracey received a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes in 2019. However, she was determined not to go on medication. She tried various methods to lose weight and become more healthy. Nothing seemed to stick until she found clean fasting. Once she began clean fasting, the weight began to drop off and her A1c improved in a sustained way. Now, she's down 57 lbs (197 to 140lbs) and her A1c went from 6.4 at its highest down to 5.4 currently!Tracey shares a lot of good information about her mindset through her struggles and ultimate success with clean fasting. What a compelling story! I hope you enjoy it!
Ginger (Type 1) was last on the podcast in February and, at that time, we primarily discussed her usage of Metformin. When her February episode came out, she was using both Metformin and Ozempic (newly started) to control her dawn phenomenon and improve insulin sensitivity. She continues to use both drugs and has developed a good understanding of how they work in her body. I thought it would make sense to have her back on to get an update on how things are going for her as she now has 9 months of Ozempic under her belt. Even if you are not a Type 1, I think you find this episode to be extremely informative. We discuss in depth such topics as other similar drugs to Ozempic (Wegovy, Trulicity, Mounjaro), weight loss, hunger while on these drugs, and insulin needs over time, etc.In addition to discussing Ozempic, we talk about low blood sugars (how to avoid over treating them) and her new book on exercise and Type 1 Diabetes (see link below).Enjoy!*Prior podcast episodes with Ginger:https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/cc0458ae-8364-4e3e-a3a0-46c4506eacf1/stream.mp3https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/cc0458ae-8364-4e3e-a3a0-46c4506eacf1/stream.mp3*Check out her website for links to her books and the articles she has written.https://www.gingervieira.com*Find her on Twitter at @GingerVieira*Ginger's new book: Exercise with Type 1 Diabeteshttps://www.amazon.com/Exercise-Type-Diabetes-exercise-frustrating/dp/B0BYGNFQ47*Links to Ginger's articles on Beyond Type 1: https://beyondtype1.org/ginger-vieira-freelancer/*The articles referenced in the episode are as follows:https://t1dexchange.org/semaglutide-type-1-diabetes/https://beyondtype1.org/mounjaro-results-obesity-type-2-diabetes/https://beyondtype1.org/over-treating-low-blood-sugars/
Time flies! I can't believe it's been 2 years! A lot has changed in that time. I go into detail about how my fasting protocol has shifted over time, weight loss (and weight gain), changes to insulin settings, and fasted exercise. I hope you enjoy the episode! While it's short, it's very informative! If you are interested, here is the episode that I recorded at my 1 year anniversary. It's very useful to listen to these two episodes in tandem. https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/21cb109b-216d-4f0a-99e5-4e70a16af514/stream.mp3
What a joy it was to speak to Netta again! She is one of the leading authorities in the movement on how to reduce or eliminate sugar from your diet. We discuss a variety of topics ranging from cravings, falling off the no-sugar wagon and how to get back on, emotional and food triggers, etc. Importantly, we also discuss how you can identify whether you should consider moderating vs abstaining from sugar. You may recognize Roxi's name and that's because she is a huge part of the intermittent fasting community. She is one of the moderators for both the Delay, Don't Deny Facebook group and Gin Stephens' off Facebook group (https://www.ginstephens.com/community.html). Roxi has a fascinating story. She reversed her pre-diabetes through fasting alone. Her A1c started at 6.1 in January 2019 and she steadily lowered it to 4.7 by May 2020. After doing fasting for around a year, she gradually changed her diet to incorporate more whole foods and fewer carbs. She is also a huge proponent of the clean fast and we discuss this quite a bit. We also talk a lot about alternate day fasting and whether it's right for you. Roxi runs Meal-Less Mondays on Gin's off Facebook community so she's quite experienced with down days.Additionally, Roxi has lost quite a bit of weight. She started around 200lbs and is now back to her high school weight of +/- 160lbs. She's been fasting for 4 years and discusses how she keeps on track. If you want to follow Roxi, check her out on Instagram @fastingrox.It was a pleasure to speak to Roxi - I hope you enjoy the episode!
I'm so pleased to have had the opportunity to speak to Rachel. We dive deep on an issue that many T1Ds face, which is high blood sugars when breaking your fast. Rachel has been fasting for six months and was initially plagued with very high blood sugars when she would break her fast. After tinkering with her insulin (Humalog to Lyumjev), eating window, and ultimately, adding Metformin to her regimen, she has devised a strategy that works well for her. Insulin resistance can be a sneaky issue that you may not be aware that you have. This episode is definitely worth a listen if you are finding blood sugars to be difficult to manage in your eating window. In addition, Rachel has a very interesting story, and I love the methodical way that she approaches her T1D management! Enjoy!
I cut sugar three months ago and artificial sweeteners a month ago and it hasn't been easy! BUT, I'm glad I did it. In this short solo episode, I'll tell you about why I quit, how I did it, and, most importantly, how long it takes to no longer miss these things! This episode is definitely worth a listen if you need to eliminate something from your diet. Enjoy!
Tami is incredible! After receiving a diagnosis of pre-diabetes in late 2019, Tammy set out to reverse her diabetes without the use of medication. Shortly after receiving her diagnosis, she found intermittent fasting and has never looked back!Since Tami has been at this for such a long time, we got into a lot of detail about her fasting protocol and how it has evolved over time. We discussed some of the shifts in mindset that have occurred throughout her journey.Within six months of receiving her diagnosis, Tami was able to bring her A1c down from 6.2 to 5.5. Since that time, she has continued to lower her A1c and, at her last check up, it was 4.9!Also, since Tami is now post-menopausal, we discuss issues relating to weight gain and menopause. Spoiler alert - weight gain during and post-menopause is NOT INEVITABLE!Tami was an open book and she provided a lot of very valuable information. I really hope you enjoy this interview!
What a privilege it was to speak to Dr. Tarman! She is the leading authority on food addiction. We cover a variety of topics in this podcast. Importantly, Dr. Tarman defines what food addiction is so that you can identify it within yourself, if you feel that this may be applicable to you. We also discuss how food addiction is treated. Spoiler alert... treatment for food addiction and reversing Type 2 diabetes through diet are accomplished in the much same way. Additionally, since this is a podcast about fasting, we discuss the role that fasting may have for someone that is also dealing with food addiction. You will definitely come away from this episode with a much better understanding of food addiction. However, since this podcast is only one hour and the field of food addiction is so broad, I highly recommend that you check out Dr. Tarman's book (Food Junkies), podcast (Food Junkies), Facebook page (Sugar-Free for Life: I'm Sweet Enough), and website (addictionsunplugged.com) for many more resources. I'm so pleased to have had the opportunity to interview Nayiri Mississian! Nayiri has had T1D for 45 years and has managed her diabetes in a myriad of ways. However, the control she was seeking eluded her until she found fasting paired with a keto diet. In this episode, we discuss Nayiri's diabetes history, fasting related topics such as extended fasting, and women's issues. She is a thought leader in the space and she's doing all she can to get the word out. To that end, she has created various different platforms where you can find her:Facebook group: Keto & Fasting with Type 1 Diabetes (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ketoandfastingtype1)Nayiri's website: lowcarbandfasting.com YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@LowCarbandFastingI highly recommend that you check out her work in all of the places she can be found.I hope you enjoy this very special episode!
Sue was last on the podcast in March 2022. Her initial episode has been one of the most popular episodes of the podcast. I think a lot of people resonate with her story both for the incredible way she reversed her Type 2 diabetes and lost 100 pounds. I was thrilled at the opportunity to catch up with Sue to see how things have been going for her. Sue thrives on consistency and has been able to maintain both her weight and healthy A1Cs over the last year. While her year has not been without challenges, she has pushed through any issues she has faced and has continued on with her lifestyle. She is an inspiration to me and many others. I hope you enjoy this update episode! Her original episode from March 2022 can be found here:https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/a31705b1-ed33-4bff-b167-b7cfaa90b4e2/stream.mp3
This solo episode is a just a quick update on how things have been going for me. I want to normalize that maintenance is not always easy. The important thing is to pick yourself up and get back on track! I hope this episode helps you feel a bit better if you've been struggling lately.
I like Lesya's story because she keeps it real...Lesya has struggled with her weight her entire life and, luckily, found fasting after receiving a pre-diabetes/diabetes diagnosis in 2017. Right away, she got serious about fasting and was able to drop her A1c from 6.5 to the low 5s. She has been able to maintain her A1c in a normal range to this day. However, her story is not without challenges. She is Ukrainian and has had an extremely difficult year. Due to all the stress that she has endured, she has regained some of the weight that she has lost (high weight 260, low weight 150). We talk about challenges with respect to fasting that come up when we are under extreme stress.Through it all, Lesya's commitment to fasting is unwavering. Despite the challenges that she has encountered recently, she knows that she will continue fasting for life.
Josh has quite the story to tell! He's 29 years old and was incorrectly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes about a year ago after a visit to the ER. After being sent on his way with a prescription for Metformin, Josh began to research what was happening in his body and started to suspect that he had Type 1 diabetes. He later made an appointment with an endocrinologist and received the correct diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. With the correct diagnosis in hand, Josh began researching how to better manage his blood sugars. Through his research, he stumbled upon fasting as he was attempting to dial in his basal rates. Once he discovered fasting, he realized that he had found an invaluable tool to better manage his blood sugars. Through fasting, he was able to bring his A1c down from 13.4 at diagnosis to 4.9, which is astounding!Josh is someone that is very on top of his health and he imparts a lot of great knowledge in this episode. He also delves quite a bit into his mindset around his new diagnosis. I hope you enjoy this very heartfelt and inspirational story!
Ginger is always on the cutting edge of diabetes management and I'm thrilled to have her back on the podcast! She's been T1D since 1999 and has been writing about diabetes related topics for 15 years. Ginger has authored or co-authored 5 books relating to diabetes and she's currently a writer for Beyond Type 1 and Beyond Type 2. She has a new book coming out in March about exercise and T1D - can't wait to read it!Today, Ginger and I are talking about using Metformin and/or Ozempic to improve insulin sensitivity in people with Type 1 diabetes. She wrote a very comprehensive article about her experiences with Metformin, published in September 2022 (linked below). At that point, she had five months worth of data under her belt. Recently, she began to enhance her diabetes management with weekly injections of.Ozempic (newly published article on this subject linked in show notes). We talk in depth about why Metformin is effective in improving insulin sensitivity and how it helps to compensate for other hormonal deficits in people with Type 1 diabetes. This episode is jam-packed with important information that you won't find anywhere else - don't miss it!Original July 13, 2022 episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-fast-life-with-diabetes-intermittent-fasting/id1601043790?i=1000569738289https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/bbbb4e6f-eff9-4df4-bac4-723737afd00f/stream.mp3*Check out her website for links to her books and the articles she has written.https://www.gingervieira.com*Find her on Twitter at @GingerVieira*Links to Ginger's articles on Beyond Type 1: https://beyondtype1.org/ginger-vieira-freelancer/*The articles referenced in the episode are as follows:https://beyondtype1.org/taking-metformin-type-1-diabetes/https://t1dexchange.org/semaglutide-type-1-diabetes/
April is such a ray of sunshine! I absolutely loved speaking to her!April has struggled with pre-diabetes/Type 2 diabetes for the last 4 years with a starting A1C of 7.4. About a year into her diagnosis, she got serious about her health. She was able to lose weight and bring her A1C down through intermittent fasting and a keto diet. However, life got in the way, and she stop using the tools that led to her initial success. She regained the weight that she had lost and her diabetes became an issue again. Fast forward to September 2022, April decided to reclaim her health through fasting, but she has taken a different approach with respect to diet this time around. She has found a way to eat carbs in moderation and still reverse her diabetes. Her last A1C was 5.4 and she has lost 47 pounds since restarting her health journey - wow!April has the most wonderful personality and I know you'll enjoy listening to her tell her story!
What a unique story! In September 2021, at age 45, Gloria was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic. Taking matters into her own hands, she decided to attempt to reverse her diabetes through diet and fasting after finding the work of Dr. Jason Fung. After a year of blood sugars that were still too high, Gloria was later properly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and is now insulin-dependent. Interestingly, the way she manages her Type 1 diabetes is very similar to the way that she was managing her Type 2 diabetes – which is through diet and fasting. Gloria has only been officially Type 1 for a few months but she has done a tremendous amount of research about her condition. Her last A1c was 5.8, which is incredible for someone that is newly diagnosed with T1D. She has prioritized her health and her blood sugar management reflects that!Given Gloria's success with her diabetes management and weight loss (+/-50lbs), she decided to write a blog so that people can follow her journey. Check it out – it's very informative!Blog: https://gloriasfastingfriends.com/Facebook Group: Lifestyle Changes for a Healthier Future (LCHF)https://www.facebook.com/groups/995057138113317/YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@thelatinketo
Andrew is one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of speaking to on this podcast. His life has not been easy – he was diagnosed as diabetic at the age of 17 and was put on insulin at the time. He was essentially treated as a Type 1 diabetic, although he found out later that he was actually Type 2. He has diabetes running strong through his family and he has witnessed the devastating consequences that it can lead to. Andrew is also dealing with MS. Through all of this, he has an exceptionally positive attitude and does not let minor setbacks keep him from reaching his goals. His latest A1c was 6.1 (down from readings as high as 10), so he is well on his way to reversing his Type 2 diabetes, after dealing with it for many years. What an amazing and inspirational human being Andrew is!
The key with ADF or longer fasts is to set yourself up for success. I'll compare and contrast two ADF experiences - one where everything went wrong and another where everything went right. Enjoy!
Hillary was fascinating to speak to! As a physician assistant, she comes to this discussion with a medical background and her insights about the benefits of fasting paired with a low carb diet are eye opening! She has been fasting for 3 years so she is able to provide lots of great tips about maintaining this lifestyle for the long term.Within a very short period of time after beginning fasting/making changes to her diet, she was able to reverse her Type 2 diabetes and cured her PCOS. She has also managed to lose a significant amount of weight along the way. Hillary is incredibly passionate and enthusiastic about this lifestyle. I learned so much in my conversation with her and I'm sure you'll learn a lot as well. Enjoy!
Steve was diagnosed with cancer and Type 2 diabetes at the same time. What a difficult time, to say the least! In June 2020, he was able to become cancer free and had improved his A1C to 7.1. However, he was dealt another blow to his health and his A1C went back to 12.6. Through hard work, intermittent fasting, and a low-carb diet, Steve has been able to reduce his A1c to 9.3 and is hoping to reduce it further over time. Throughout everything, he has never lost his enthusiasm for life. I have no doubt that he will be able to achieve his health goals in the future!
Mike is one of my favorite T1Ds! Every time I speak to him, I am inspired! He was last on the show in January 2022 - I highly recommend that you listen to his original episode first: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-fast-life-with-diabetes-intermittent-fasting/id1601043790?i=1000548343514He has been fasting since November 2020 and has dramatically improved his health. In addition to shedding over 160lbs, Mike has maintained an A1c in the low 5s. He is constantly tweaking his fasting, diet, and exercise regimes. We delve into what he has been up to since we last spoke and he explains how things have changed for him since going from a weight loss to a maintenance mindset. What he has been able to accomplish in 2 years is nothing short of amazing!
I am so excited to bring to you this incredible episode with Dr. Nadia Pateguana! If you aren't already familiar with her, she is a Naturopathic Doctor and Dietary Coach at The Fasting Method. She works with Dr. Jason Fung and Megan Ramos. She also wrote a book -- 'The PCOS Plan: Prevent and Reverse Polycystic Ovary Syndrome through Diet and Fasting' -- with Dr. Jason Fung. We go deep into insulin resistance and its connection with PCOS. Unfortunately, PCOS is often under diagnosed and/or incorrectly treated by medical professionals. However, on a positive note, insulin resistance, which is also the cause of Type 2 diabetes, can be treated with diet and fasting. Dr. Pateguana also shares her personal story of PCOS and how she has managed it. Dr. Pateguana has a straightforward way of explaining complex topics and I learned a lot by speaking to her. Even if you do not have PCOS or are not experiencing other women's issues, such as menopause, I highly encourage you to listen to this episode to better understand insulin resistance. Mali is so open and honest. She has been through quite a bit in her life and she has persevered. Mali is 19 years sober and sobriety has informed her mindset when it comes to her health and fasting. She has dealt with a number of health conditions including Type 2 diabetes, a neurological disorder, and high cholesterol. Throughout it all, she has maintained a very balanced view and she is kind to herself. One minor setback will not throw her off course. What a privilege it was to speak to Mali - I hope you enjoy the episode!
What a fascinating life Joy has led! It was such a treat to hear her story! Joy is 81 years old and has been intermittent fasting for 3 years. Christina has had Type 2 diabetes for 19 years and, around 1.5 years ago, she decided to take control of her health and started fasting. Within 2 weeks, she was off all diabetes meds and shortly after got off her high blood pressure meds. Also, her arthritis has significantly improved. Christina's weight loss has been dramatic and she's lost 65 pounds to date (252 lbs starting weight).Christina has a positive mindset and she doesn't let anything get in her way. I love her approach to life! Enjoy this episode!
I can't believe it's been a year and what a year it has been! Intermittent fasting has been one of the best discoveries of my life. I have much better blood sugar control (although it's not perfect) and my weight has been super steady. In this episode, I go over the top 5 lessons that I have learned over the year. When you listen, you'll see, things didn't necessarily go as I thought they would. All in all, intermittent fasting has been incredible for me and I can say with confidence that I will be doing it for the rest of my life!
Laurie is well known in the intermittent fasting community as an IF coach and for her incredible IF story. She started intermittent fasting to combat some issues that came up during menopause including a 50 pound weight gain, brain fog, lack of balance, and memory loss. Purely through IF, she successfully lost the weight and regained her mental clarity. Laurie has been intermittent fasting for 5 years and developed a coaching practice to help others. Jody has quite a story! She has been dealing with diabetes in some form since 2007. She started out with gestational diabetes, then her doctors thought she had Type 2 (she didn't), and years later was diagnosed with Type 1 LADA. If that were not enough to keep her busy, Jody is also dealing with thyroid issues. Throughout everything, she gives herself grace and keeps moving forward. She found fasting through some colleagues at work and has never looked back. To date, she's lost 55 pounds (starting weight of 240 lbs) and she's still going! I hope you enjoy Jody's story - she was such a pleasure to speak with!

I love Mike's story because it illustrates just how quickly you can turn things around after a bad diagnosis. Immediately after getting diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, Mike changed his diet and began fasting. Within 4 short months, he had lost 50 pounds and reversed his T2D. His last A1C was 5.0, which confirms that his changes had the desired effect. I'm very excited for you to hear about how Mike took his health back in record time. REMINDER: This podcast should not be considered medical advice. Please speak to your doctor to determine whether Afrezza is right for you.In my opinion, Afrezza is one of the best insulins out there. Unfortunately, not many people - both patients and doctors- know much about it. Afrezza is an inhaled insulin that is very fast acting and it works without the need to pre-bolus. In this episode, I highlight the pros and cons of Afrezza and how I use it in conjunction with intermittent fasting. If you decide that you are interested in learning more about Afrezza, I highly recommend that you call Afrezza directly at 1-844-323-7399 to get started. If you start with your insurance company, expect to encounter road blocks.

I know I say this a lot but you don't want to miss this episode! Bobby has not had it easy but he has persevered! Nothing can keep him from reaching his goals. He started out weighing 500lbs and has managed to lose 220lbs to date. He's not done yet though. He has lots of goals that he's striving to reach. Bobby had a traumatic Type 2 diabetes diagnosis in November 2021 and he IMMEDIATELY changed his diet. He's strictly plant-based these days. Shortly after his diagnosis, he started intermittent fasting and has never looked back. Prepare to be touched and inspired by Bobby's story!

Rabea has accomplished incredible things, all in less than a year! Through intermittent fasting and changes to her diet, Rabea has managed to reverse her Type 2 diabetes, get off all meds, and lose 90 pounds! Her attitude on how to accomplish major objectives is to have long term goals but not rush to get to them. Her measured approach has allowed her to achieve great things without putting undue pressure on herself. I loved speaking to Rabea - what an example she has set for all of us!
Shana has quite the story to tell! Not many diabetics have had Type 1 for as long as she has...42 years. Shana has seen it all when it comes to diabetes management.
