The Turntable Teachers podcast is a delightful trip down memory lane for music enthusiasts and nostalgic individuals alike. As a teacher myself, this podcast resonated with me on a personal level, reminding me of the special moments I shared with my parents discussing music. The hosts have done an exceptional job in providing listeners with an engaging and informative show that dives deep into the background and history of various musical genres.
One of the best aspects of The Turntable Teachers podcast is their passion for music that shines through in every episode. Their knowledge and love for different genres are evident, making each discussion insightful and enjoyable. The hosts effortlessly guide their audience through fascinating anecdotes, interesting trivia, and thought-provoking discussions about iconic songs, artists, and albums. This podcast is not just a showcase of their musical expertise; it's also a testament to their ability to create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can appreciate and learn something new.
Furthermore, the chemistry between the hosts is undeniable. Their dynamic banter adds an element of fun to the show while still maintaining professionalism. They bounce off each other's ideas seamlessly, creating an engaging dialogue that keeps listeners hooked from start to finish. It feels like sitting in on a captivating conversation between friends who genuinely enjoy sharing their musical insights with others.
While The Turntable Teachers podcast has numerous merits, it does have its drawbacks as well. One notable aspect that could be improved upon is the frequency of guest appearances. While it's commendable that the hosts take center stage in most episodes, having guest experts or musicians on board would add an extra layer of depth to the discussions. Inviting guests who specialize in certain genres or artists would provide fresh perspectives and enhance the overall listening experience.
In conclusion, The Turntable Teachers podcast is a must-listen for any music lover or educator seeking both entertainment and enlightenment from expert enthusiasts. The hosts' passion for music combined with their wealth of knowledge creates an inviting space where listeners can delve into the incredible history and stories behind their favorite tunes. While there is room for improvement, this podcast has quickly become a nostalgic journey that I eagerly look forward to with each new episode. Keep up the good work, boys!

On Episode 111 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome Kentucky-native country/bluegrass/folk singer/songwriter Kyle Ray! Kyle has been living in Boston for the last few years as a Berklee College of Music student, and since then has recruited a band of Berklee students, known as “Kyle Ray and the Hired Guns”. With Kyle being the first Kentucky-born musician we've ever had on the show, we of course had to ask Kyle all about the contrasts between Kentucky and the south as a whole, and the New England area. He shares the story of his upbringing (and sometimes troublemaker ways) as a student who was bored by everyday school but enamored with learning about every genre of music he possibly could. He also boasts about the delicacies of Kentucky including its (in his opinion) superior desserts and sweet tea recipes. Mike & Kyle also have a refreshing, in-depth conversation surrounding to what extent your upbringing should be seen as a part of your identity, whether you grew up rich, poor, or something in between. There's an importance of not only reflecting on your own experience, but attempting to have empathy for others and their experiences allows for healing within yourself. Kyle candidly addresses his own opinion on this concept and how he plans on keeping his morality as his musical success grows. Kyle and his band are gearing up for their performance at Bourbon & Beyond, Kentucky's biggest music festival, September 19-21, and then followed by their biggest show in MA yet, opening for Angel Olsen on 9/23 at the Cabot Theater in Beverly. Kyle also details the first and last time he ever recorded for a progressive metal band, the wild stories of how he met his bandmates, why cats are misunderstood, the best way to get tree sap off your hands, the best flavors of moonshine, and so much more. On Episode 110 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome artist, engineer, producer, and one of the best to collectively do it all right now out of MA: CASO. CASO shares how influential it was to have a dad as a musician at an early age, which included trips to the studio and live shows when he was as young as 4 years old. Between that and the discipline he learned through his time as an infantryman in the Army as a young man, he's been given the necessary tools to achieve greatness in the music industry, and his latest album ‘Thanks For Nothin' is proof of that. CASO explains how his new critically acclaimed album is his proudest body of work to date, but not for the reasons you might think. He shares in-depth insight on the album's creation and the many hands that were involved in its success. On Episode 108 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome an artist we've been a fan of since before the inception of the podcast: Burlington, Vermont's very own maari of 99 Neighbors! maari, formerly known as Sam Paulino, is one of the founders of the viral sensation that was 99 Neighbors, a collective of 10 creatives all from the Burlington area who became household names after their breakout album ‘Television' in 2019. maari talks in detail how ‘Television' changed the band's lives, including the song “Champion” being featured on ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians', to then moving to Chicago and being signed to Warner Records and Chance the Rapper's management team. They were drawing numerous comparisons to other hip-hop collectives of the era, such as Odd Future and BROCKHAMPTON. Alas, all good things must come to an end, as maari details the group's recent decision to not release music together anymore at the conclusion of their 2021 album ‘Wherever You're Going I Hope It's Great'. He explains the desire for all of 99's members to branch out and release solo music, which ultimately led to maari teaming up with fellow Vermont-based producer Es-K for his debut solo album ‘All Is Fair In Love & War', a 10 track masterpiece which also features frequent Drake collaborator, Quentin Miller. Mike and maari also discuss a variety of other topics, including the cultural importance of SoundCloud, their mutual admiration for Brockton, MA's Van Buren Records, which artists he thinks are blending genres in the most creative ways, the state of Vermont's music scene, the hilarious name of his first ever hip-hop group as a kid, the amazing moment he got to meet Tyler, the Creator, and so much more. They also share where they see their respective platforms going in the near and distant future. Additionally, Mike, Pete, and Anthony touch upon a variety of different topics, including their reactions to the Patriots drafting Drake Maye, whether or not the Celtics will win the title, their Mount Rushmore of favorite artists/bands, what their MLB walk-up song would be, the first albums they ever owned, most underrated podcasts, who would be their dream interviewee, and so much more. Thank you to every single guest who has come on the podcast and elevated Turntable Teachers to where it is today.
