Gary Gulman is one of the sharpest and the most respected stand up comedians working today. Known for his brilliantly detailed observational comedy, Gary has built a career turning the smallest human anxieties into epic philosophical events. Whether he's talking about state abbreviations, Trader Joe's childhood misunderstandings or the emotional collapse triggered by a routine email, he somehow makes overthinking feel heroic. Gary's acclaimed HBO special, The Great Depression earned widespread praise for Very Good, Very Good for its honest and darkly funny exploration of depression and mental health, showing a level of vulnerability that's rare and stand up very rare. He's also appeared on nearly every major late night show, released multiple acclaimed specials, and is widely regarded by comedians as one of the best joke writers alive. He can take a completely normal thought buying cereal, sending a text standing in line and reveal that modern civilization may actually be hanging by a thread. On this episode of Really? no Really?, Jason and Peter dive in with how Gary has been able to not only handle his depression but also how to utilize it as a creative force for his brand of comedy. We'll also touch upon various topics and experiences that have helped shape Gary's trauma and art. What if someone asked you point-blank: Are you holy? Would you hesitate? Laugh it off? Maybe cringe a little? You're not alone—and that reaction reveals a deeper belief many of us carry without even realizing it. Somewhere along the way, many of us have come to believe that holiness is reserved for heaven—that here and now, “trying our best” is enough. But what if that's not true? What if holiness isn't just the goal… but a present reality for the believer? In today's episode, we're unpacking a powerful and often overlooked lie: holiness is something we strive for, but never actually live in. Join me as I interview Tasha Calvert, author of Set Apart for More. With years of Bible teaching and a passion for helping believers step into their identity, Tasha brings clarity, conviction, and encouragement as we explore what it really means to live set apart—right here, right now. If you've ever felt like holiness was out of reach, optional, or “for later,” this episode will challenge and invite you into something more. In this deeply honest and theologically rich episode, Heather Creekmore welcomes Jen Oshman—author, missionary, and mom of four daughters—to tackle a question many women silently struggle with: Is it good that I was born a woman? Together, they candidly explore how issues of body image, shame, and the cultural pressures of womanhood can lead to deep-seated doubts and frustration. Drawing from global and biblical perspectives, Jen Oshman shares insights gathered from years of cross-cultural ministry and studying God’s word. She addresses the vulnerabilities women face, both physically and socially, and how Western and global cultures shape our understanding of femininity. Jen Oshman unpacks what the Bible says about being female, highlighting the unique and powerful stories of women in Scripture that often get overlooked, and discusses why God’s design for women is not only intentional but also very good. Key Topics Covered Why the question, “Is it good that I was born a woman?” is more common than we realize The impact of shame, fear, and the lived realities of being female in our culture How body image struggles can be rooted in deeper frustrations about being a woman A biblical look at femininity—separating culture’s checklist from God’s truth The meaning of “helper” (Ezer) in Genesis and its empowering implications Why diversity among women in Scripture matters—and what we can learn from their stories Studying tough Old Testament laws (like menstruation) in context and seeing God’s heart of care for women Practical encouragement for women who wrestle with their purpose and God’s plan for their gender How to dig deeper into biblical womanhood with Jen’s new Lifeway Bible study, “Very Good” Connect with Jen here: https://www.jenoshman.com Grab a copy of Jen's new Bible study: "Very Good" on Amazon here.** Amazon affiliate link. New Barna research reveals a surprising shift: fewer women—and more men—are attending church. Why is that? And does any of it resonate with you? Somewhere along the way, many women have stepped back, unsure where they fit—in the church, in their lives, even in God's story. In this episode, Jen Oshman—speaker, author, church planter's wife, and director of women's ministry at Redemption Parker—helps untangle that uncertainty and replace it with truth: you belong, your life matters, and your role is essential. Drawing from her ministry across three continents, Jen shares practical ways Scripture affirms women's identity and worth, along with a glimpse into her new Lifeway Women study, Very Good, designed to help women move from confusion to clarity about who they are in Christ. Together, let's step in—not back—and embrace our place with confidence. Because you were made very good, and you are right where you're meant to be, on purpose. _________________________________________________________________________ Connect with Jen Oshman: https://www.jenoshman.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jenoshman/ Her new Bible Study, Very Good: https://rstyle.me/+wCAiaZ58j31s3P_q9yCrTw Connect with Heidi Lee Anderson: https://heidileeandersonministries.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heidileeanderson/ 100-Day Devotional, All In, All Yours: https://rstyle.me/+11Ii1owgccFkGPU0t1uz3w

Roughly ~30 Days to the NFL Draft, but while we are in 2026 Rookie Season, not a whole lot has changed since the NFL Combine. At this point, there is really one thing left for me to do pre-Draft for 2026: Final Positional Rankings & Big Board. But with a few weeks to spare still, this week will take a step back from the 2026 NFL Draft — at the very least for the first post — and focus on my pre-Draft Superflex Start-Up Rankings. This Start-Up Draft Exercise began last show and covered my first 3 Tiers & 2 Rounds. While all of this information is subject to change, it is important to know that more is likely to change the further we get into the draft, including the fact that today's tiers will see Fernando Mendoza & the top 3 WRs drafted. Start-Up Tiers 4-6 (Rounds 3-5.5)Here are some of the Key Takeaways and pivot points for the first 3 Tiers. The Tiers themselves as well as the Mock Draft can be found linked here:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JUkpIfRKHIBqTae-BgjdFz0unFfgzQ4g_dAjQlEGFB8/edit?usp=sharing* As mentioned last week, TIERS are not a perfect science. There is a mixing of quality within each Tier, but the only way to avoid that is to have 20-30 Tiers. The primary idea here is where some of the fall-off points are the biggest or most clear. * Through 5.5 Rounds, this is demonstrated by the fact that my Tiers have been broken exactly ONCE: in the late 2nd Round by a team with Bijan Robinson taking Bo Nix over Omarion Hampton, a second RB and the only player left in Tier 3. * While there are four WRs in Tier 4 in particular, the QBs & Nico Collins seem like the top players within this Tier. De'Von Achane has a strong argument as well that is weighed down by his situation. * Team 7 was in a decent position to get a QB in Round 1, but based on how the Draft broke down, they were in a particularly poor place in Rounds 2 & 3 to get a QB. Round 4 does present opportunity, but none of these players are my favorite, and with the 5 Teams after Team 7 having 7 of their 10 QBs already, Team 7 will wait on their QB1 and target a potential game changing short-term asset in Christian McCaffrey.* There are a number of points in this draft where I pair up a QB+WR stack or a void a QB+RB situation. The Josh Allen & Patrick Mahomes teams took Jonathan Taylor & Breece Hall over James Cook & Kenneth Walker III, who I would probably prefer in a vacuum. Caleb Williams paired with Colston Loveland, Burrow with Higgins, & Jackson with Flowers. * There are also a few points where the right QB falls to the right team. Team 7 taking Jared Goff is a bit rich for ADP, but by my rankings, that is the first time where a QBs price point was convenient for Team 7 within my tiers. Fernando Mendoza is unlikely to last to the mid-5th, but he went to the perfect team to build for the long-term. * In many ways, the first tiers from last show were the “Elite” or “near-Elite.” These tiers today are much more the “Very Good” or the players you still clearly very much want as Dynasty Assets. As we move into the next tier later in the week, the focus will go to the last Dynasty Assets who seem to have some level of clear value prior to the NFL Draft. Slightly behind on the release again for this show, though I do plan on wrapping up this Mock Draft soon and on the next episode. More context as always can be found by listening to the Fantasy For Real podcast. I also very briefly discuss Bryce Lance at the end of this episode. Questions & Comments welcomeThanks,C.J. The OT Who Showed Up at TED: Bill Wong on Visibility, Neurodivergence & Making Bold Career Moves What does it look like when an occupational therapist refuses to stay inside the OT bubble? In this episode of The BRAVE OT Podcast, I sit down with Bill Wong, the first OT student or practitioner to deliver multiple TEDx talks, publish those talks on TED's platform, and attend many TED conferenendces. Bill is a home health OT, a neurodivergent individual, a TEDx event organizer, and one of the most intentional networkers in our profession. Our conversation weaves through career resilience, neurodivergent-affirming mentorship, and a provocative challenge to the OT community: instead of waiting to be given a fish, why don't we learn to fish for ourselves? If you've ever felt like OT is healthcare's best-kept secret, or wondered what it would look like if we stopped waiting for an invitation and started creating our own opportunities, this conversation is for you. IN THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS: • The "teach OT to fish" principle: why Bill believes our profession needs to stop waiting to be invited and start creating our own stages • Resilience, risk-taking, and the "Hall of Fame vs. Hall of Very Good" framework Bill has used to drive his career forward • Neurodivergent-affirming mentorship: what it means to meet mentees where they are while still holding them to their own stated goals • How Bill became the first OT to deliver multiple TEDx talks and what he learned from his early "failed" attempts at organizing TEDx events • What it's actually like inside a TED conference as a paying attendee and why Bill thinks more OTs should be in those rooms • The barriers that keep OTs from showing up in non-OT spaces and how to start breaking them down one brave move at a time • Bill's OT lens on autism, advocacy, and building connections with people completely outside the healthcare world ABOUT BILL WONG, OTD, OTR/L Bill Wong is an occupational therapist based in the United States, currently practicing in home health. Episode 25 of Matt Likes Beer tackles one of the most polarizing modern beer styles of the past decade: the Cold IPA. The featured beer comes from Wayfinder Beer in Portland, Oregon, the brewery that not only created the recipe concept but also coined the term “Cold IPA” in 2018. For Matt—who actively seeks out the style—this makes Wayfinder the definitive benchmark. Matt opens by reflecting on the intense backlash Cold IPA received when it first appeared, noting that the hostility rivaled—and even surpassed—the early resistance to Hazy IPA. He contrasts that early reaction with the sudden, almost overnight acceptance the style enjoys today, raising questions about how and why beer communities choose what to embrace or reject. Drawing directly from Wayfinder's own published definition of the style, Matt explains what sets Cold IPA apart: heavy use of rice adjuncts, lager yeast, a very dry finish, and an emphasis on clean fermentation that allows American hops to shine with clarity and precision. He also points out that Wayfinder has effectively written their own style guideline—complete with vital statistics—despite the BJCP not yet adopting Cold IPA as a standalone category. Because no official BJCP style exists, the beer is evaluated as a 34B Mixed-Style Beer, declared as American IPA + American Lager, which Matt agrees is the best available option—even if it doesn't fully capture what Cold IPA truly is. Using this framework, he conducts a full judging breakdown, noting a medium-yellow appearance with persistent foam, expressive citrus-forward aroma, light herbal and dank hop character, subtle grain notes, and a distinct but restrained lager yeast presence. Flavor-wise, the beer delivers orange zest, grapefruit rind, floral and herbal hop notes, light toasted grain, and a crisp, slightly dry finish. However, Matt finds the bitterness lower than expected for the style—particularly from the brewery that defined it. Mouthfeel is light-bodied and highly carbonated with surprising softness beneath the fizz, contributing to excellent drinkability. The final score lands at 35 out of 50, placing it squarely in the “Very Good” range. With no online reviews to read—of any rating—the episode pivots into an extended and impassioned soapbox segment. Matt unpacks the early hatred directed at Cold IPA, arguing that much of the criticism was aimed at the name and concept, not the beer itself. He connects that reaction to a broader problem within craft beer and homebrewing: resistance to innovation, gatekeeping, and a reflexive hostility toward anything new or unfamiliar.
I know some girls were super excited to transform from little girl into woman, but I was one of the many who was not excited by that prospect at all. I loved climbing trees and riding my horse. Everything that came along with being a "lady" felt like it would get in the way. This was made significantly harder because I was constantly told how men were uniquely made in God's image, but not how I was uniquely made in God's image. This wrestling nearly cost me my faith more than once. None of this intro is a surprise to Jen Oshman. She is an author and Bible teacher I've come to respect and trust deeply, especially in the realm of complicated conversations. We've had several conversations about the way the church talks about women, their roles, and neglects (often by accident) teaching about the unique ways that women reflect the image of God. *If you're looking for us to find a hill and die on it today, that's not the conversation you're going to get, but I hope that by the time you're done listening, you'll have a deeper understanding of who you are as a woman or gratitude for the woman in your life made in God's image! For a long time, I believed that every way I was different from being a man i was also different from reflecting God's image, since he came incarnated as a man, and God refers to Himself as Father. Why do you think we tend to get stuck in that rut? What are some ways God made women to uniquely reflect him? Is there a reason that we don't talk about these well in the church? The best lies are subtle distortions of the truth... are there historical trends that led to that distortion? What can we learn from the stories of the women God chose to include in the Bible? God uses some material imagery in the Bible. My personal favorite is that God describes Himself as a mother bear robbed of her cubs. I had always thought of my role as "Biblical mother" to look more like a Madonna and Child painting with a sweet half smile, but I don't know that anyone who knows me well would describe me as serene. How do some of these other pictures given in the Bible help us to see women more holistically? How do we find true joy when we understand what it means to be created in God's image? How do we pass that on to our daughters? You can find Jen Oshman's "It's Good to be a Girl" or her women's study "Very Good." Episode 24 of Matt Likes Beer shines a spotlight on a rice-forward American-style lager from Table Brewing, continuing the show's run of style-driven, BJCP-informed beer evaluations. Picked up through Tavour, the beer prompts Matt to dig into one of the most frequently misunderstood brewing ingredients in modern beer: rice. Matt opens by addressing his own preconceived notions about dark beers and adjunct lagers, acknowledging that rice is often unfairly associated with mass-market American lagers. From there, the episode pivots into an educational breakdown of how rice is actually used in brewing, including the distinction between standard brewer's rice and more aromatic varieties like jasmine rice, which can contribute subtle floral and grain character rather than just fermentable sugar. Judged using BJCP guidelines, the beer presents with excellent clarity, a pale golden color, and a clean, well-formed head. Aromatically, it remains restrained—appropriate for the style—while offering delicate grain notes and a soft, rounded malt profile. Flavor-wise, the beer is crisp and highly drinkable, with rice contributing dryness and smoothness rather than overt sweetness or hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium-light, clean, and refreshing, aligning well with the intended style. While the beer performs well technically, Matt notes that the subtlety of the style inherently limits how high it can score in competition settings. The final BJCP score lands in the Very Good range, reinforcing a recurring theme of the podcast: some beers are meant to be enjoyed, not chased for points. The episode expands into a broader discussion about style bias, particularly how adjunct lagers are often dismissed before being properly evaluated. Matt argues that when brewed with intention and quality ingredients, rice lagers can be elegant, nuanced, and extremely difficult to execute well—making them worthy of respect both on the judging table and in everyday drinking.
Episode 23 of Matt Likes Beer features Dolly Hole, a hazy IPA collaboration between Tactical Brewing and Sideward Brewing, two of Matt's most frequently visited and personally meaningful Orlando-area breweries. Gifted to Matt by a fellow homebrew club member, the beer marks the first local brewery review of 2026, setting the stage for more hometown highlights throughout the year. Matt opens the episode by explaining his approach to note-taking, clarifying that while the show is unscripted, he keeps minimal reference notes to ensure accuracy—especially when discussing unfamiliar breweries or beer descriptions. That leads into a discussion of Tactical Brewing's intentionally minimal website descriptions, which prompted Matt to dig slightly deeper than usual, confirming that Dolly Hole was a recent rebrew rather than an older release. The beer itself is evaluated strictly under BJCP Category 21C: Hazy IPA, eliminating the ambiguity that often surrounds modern IPA substyles. Appearance-wise, Dolly Hole pours an opaque, butter-yellow color with a dense, mousse-like head, though Matt notes that the haze borders on murky, a technical fault under BJCP guidelines. Aromatically, the beer bursts with orange rind, citrus juice, and tropical fruit, supported by subtle esters and a faint herbal note. While expressive and inviting, the aroma lacks sufficient malt presence, costing it points in the judging process. Flavor-wise, the beer leans heavily into sweet, candy-like citrus, fruit punch, and lemon-lime soda character, with only a fleeting bitterness appearing late in the finish. The mouthfeel is one of the beer's strongest attributes—soft, silky, and medium-bodied, perfectly aligned with the hazy IPA style. However, excessive sweetness and minimal bitterness ultimately hold the beer back from higher marks. Matt scores Dolly Hole 32 out of 50, placing it in the “Very Good” range while emphasizing that the score reflects stylistic evaluation—not overall enjoyment. With no one-star reviews to read, the episode transitions into a detailed breakdown of the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). Matt explains what the BJCP is, how judging works, and demystifies the certification process—from the notoriously difficult online entrance exam to the tasting exam and the various ranking levels. He also shares how becoming a BJCP judge has made him a better brewer and more thoughtful beer drinker. The episode closes with an invitation for listeners interested in judging or learning more to explore structured study resources, reinforcing one of the podcast's central themes: beer appreciation improves with education, curiosity, and community involvement.

Oneil Cruz was a disappointing player in 2025, but was it one of false hope? Early on, it looked like Cruz had figured things out, showing off a .902 OPS across March and April. May was OK, but things really tailed off as we got into the summer months. He only hit 8 home runs in the final 4 months of the season. Is he the forgotten man in the Pirates lineup? The front office went out and signed 69 home runs worth of power this offseason and the organization touts the #1 prospect in all of baseball, Konnor Griffin. Does that ease the pressure for Cruz? Everything also orbits around Paul Skenes, the reigning NL Cy Young. The existence of the new bats, Griffin and Skenes takes some off Cruz's shoulders. What will the Pirates lineup look like? Is it getting late early for Cruz or is he entering his hypothetical prime? Cruz was flailing and failing in the back half of 2025, so it feels like things can only go up. Chris is afraid to say Cruz will finally blossom, but he can be the biggest pivot point for the 2026 Pirates. Do fans have different expectations for Oneil Cruz in 2026? Episode 22 of Matt Likes Beer focuses on one of Matt's all-time favorite beer styles: the Strong Bitter. The featured beer is Trooper, the iconic Iron Maiden collaboration brewed by Robinsons Brewery in Cheshire, England, a beer Matt has been drinking—and defending—for years. Matt opens by clarifying a common misconception: while many drinkers refer to beers like this as “ESBs,” that name is technically reserved for Fuller's ESB. Under BJCP guidelines, Trooper is properly evaluated as 11C Strong Bitter, the strongest subcategory within the British Bitter family—though still very much a low-ABV, balance-driven beer. The episode explores Matt's long history with Trooper, including how its rarity and style alone made it an instant purchase when he first encountered it years ago. That history leads into a fascinating discovery: the vast global Iron Maiden beer lineup, brewed with multiple partners worldwide and spanning everything from lagers and IPAs to stouts, sake pilsners, and imperial beers—far beyond the single Trooper label most fans recognize. Using BJCP 11C Strong Bitter guidelines, Matt conducts a full judging breakdown, highlighting the beer's brilliant clarity, deep copper color, caramel-forward malt profile, restrained earthy hop character, and deceptively dry finish. While the beer hits many stylistic markers, excess sweetness and slightly muted bitterness hold it back in competition terms, resulting in a final score of 34 out of 50 (Very Good). As with many episodes, Matt emphasizes the distinction between judging to style and drinking for enjoyment. Despite the lower-than-expected score, he makes it clear that Trooper remains a beer he will gladly continue to drink whenever it's available. The episode then delivers a collection of savage one-star reviews, ranging from stale malt complaints to over-the-top Iron Maiden insults, providing some much-needed levity.
Episode 21 of Matt Likes Beer centers on one of Matt's most personal beer styles: the Vienna Lager. The featured beer comes from Phase Three Brewing in Lake Zurich, Illinois, a brewery Matt knows well through Tavour, though he has yet to visit in person. As the fifth episode of 2026, this installment marks a return to a classic, clearly defined BJCP style after several episodes focused on mixed or emerging categories. Matt opens by explaining why Vienna Lager holds such a special place in his beer journey, tracing it back to his early craft beer days and the role Sam Adams Boston Lager played as his gateway into better beer. That personal connection sets the tone for a thoughtful, technically rigorous review grounded in both experience and nostalgia. Using BJCP Category 7A guidelines, Matt evaluates the beer's copper color, clarity, persistent head, malt-forward aroma, and balanced bitterness. While the beer excels in appearance and overall balance, the judging reveals a few technical shortcomings, including a slightly acrid finish, excess sweetness for the style, and a slick mouthfeel that detracts from elegance. These factors lead to a final score of 35 out of 50, placing the beer firmly in the “Very Good” range. Despite the score, Matt is clear: this is a beer he would happily drink again. The episode reinforces a recurring theme of the podcast—the difference between judging to style and drinking for enjoyment—and why a technically imperfect beer can still be highly satisfying in real-world settings.
Today we are looking at GOD'S WORKMANSHIP and discovering the MASTERPEICE WORK OF GRACE ... In Genesis 1 we see God's workmanship… after six days of creation with mankind being the pinacol of this creation God says “ It is VERY GOOD! ”… The Greek word for workmanship or masterpiece is Poema (poiema)……

The Best For Last 1 On the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. Jesus's mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding as well. 3 When the wine ran out, Jesus's mother told him, "They don't have any wine." 4 "What has this concern of yours to do with me, woman?" Jesus asked. "My hour has not yet come." 5 "Do whatever he tells you," his mother told the servants. 6 Now six stone water jars had been set there for Jewish purification. Each contained twenty or thirty gallons. 7 "Fill the jars with water," Jesus told them. So they filled them to the brim. 8 Then he said to them, "Now draw some out and take it to the headwaiter. And they did. 9 When the headwaiter tasted the water (after it had become wine), he did not know where it came from—though the servants who had drawn the water knew. He called the groom 10 and told him, "Everyone sets out the fine wine first, then, after people are drunk, the inferior. But you have kept the fine wine until now." 11 Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. John 2:1–11: [CSB] Because of how we have conducted ourselves... Because of how we have run things... Because of our inability to solve life's problems... Because of the sin that corrupts everything we do and have... We just end up...giving into it...yes, we just might as well do what everyone expects… the inferior… the poorest… junk… last... But that is not how God does things! Imagine this: In spite of what has happened in His creation...He works it out that it ALL turns out better...better than if nothing bad had happened at all! No, we cannot imagine this...as we still have that monkey on our backs...we still feel the guilt eating at our guts...we still wish that we DID NOT do the things we have done...we wish that we did not cause the harm and hurt that we have caused... We wish that history was different. But it is what it is. We have done what we have done. The consequences are what they are... Until God steps in. He alone could make it so that the VERY GOOD of creation, as He called it when it was finished at the end of the sixth day... He alone makes it so that it all becomes even BETTER than that...than what might have been...what could have been...in His doing of what God loves to do...in His New creation...in the new heavens and new earth that is to come... This with even better...and better off...humans living in it. How is this possible? God says it is, but only God can put all of our past...regrets...guilt...all of that which make this creation less now than it was...not very good anymore...not really good at all... This...all of this...He alone puts into His sea of forgetfulness. Only He can bring about brand new beginnings without THAT taint and its baggage from our past. Only He can keep making it so that the best is yet to come. Even if we have had things fixed. Even if we have tasted grace, forgiveness and mercy, we still have not seen anything close to what HE still has in store... A better yet...a good that He is besting in what we have already tasted...tried...experienced. Imagine it always getting better, rather than worse. Sadly, we can't really. We can only hope at these Words...and that is just what our hope is. We hope because HE says this is what He has done and will do for us. I mean what good is forgiveness if the person forgiven has his past rubbed in his face all the time? What good is mercy if the person is reminded all the time that the person who is merciful would rather bring punishment instead? What is Grace worth if grace is only stingily a little is given out--and even with that, more than a little is needed? What good is a life in heaven--an eternity remember--if we have our past sins, failures, embarrassments, and inadequacies haunting every minute and at every step? That would not be heaven, but just some of the same… But no! This is not so! Not ever! No...instead... It will only get better. God will serve the next and better thing...after we have drunk freely... And then better again...and so on...into forever. This expression of God's favor is on His creation's most important and essential event: a wedding! This little event gives us a view into what He is like. What He is always like... No, go ahead… we can… do believe what we hear and see Him saying and doing.... This is what Epiphany is… and all about… what the Scriptures are for… are all about… like… If you remember how God brought the elders of Israel up onto His mountain in the desert with Moses.... What did they do there? They feasted! They ate and drank with God! That was Holy Communion going on--together...with the whole company of Heaven...with angels and archangels. That was a table laid out in the presence of enemies. That was with cups overflowing... That was grace overflowing... Despite who they were and what their past was. Despite what we are and did and do... He will welcome us...humble repentant sinners, though we be...beggars only... He will take us by the hand and lead us into His banqueting hall...all dressed up... As His children...a prince or princess...Holy Royalty... Brought up to the head of the table...to sit next to the King... Where the food and wine get ever better. Each course surpassing the one before it. This is what this story of the wedding feast a Cana is all about. This first public miracle was to show us...humanity...the world...and His church...just what kind of God He is. To show what He was about to begin...what He was about to bring about... To give us a glimpse into what it is like to be with Him...when He is about His Father's...now our Father's business. The feast has already been prepared. The feast is already made ready. You are invited. What we get even now comes from that same feast table. He brings the first course to us even here...in the presences of our and His enemies. Yes, even here our cup overflows.... Even if we don't...can't… see this. Even now, and each day that we live in Christ, it gets better. Nothing can take this away. He has already changed the bitter waters into a sweet vintage that has been aging from before the foundations of the universe had been laid down. He has prepared a place for you and for me. That is where He is leading us. That is where He is going to take us. Home for the holidays...home for the eternal Holy Day in the House of the Lord. And then it only gets better from there. Amen.
Episode 19 of Matt Likes Beer features a seasonal-yet-technical deep dive into Fragile, an Italian-style Pilsner from Heist Brewery in Charlotte, North Carolina. Named after the iconic “Fra-gee-lay” moment from A Christmas Story, this 4.5% lager uses Saphir hops and dry hopping to create a crisp, modern take on a growing craft beer substyle. Matt explores his history with Heist Brewery through Tavour, noting that while he's enjoyed their beers before, this is his first experience with Fragile—and his first Italian Pilsner reviewed on the podcast. He also takes time to highlight Heist's wide-ranging tap list, touching on the brewery's diverse approach beyond the IPA-heavy norm. Because Italian Pilsner isn't a standalone BJCP category, Matt walks listeners through how to properly judge it using BJCP's suggested entry guidelines, evaluating the beer as a 34B Mixed-Style Beer with a German Pilsner base plus dry hopping. The review covers clarity, head retention, hop expression, bitterness levels, mouthfeel, and balance—along with a candid critique of BJCP's notoriously difficult website navigation. Fragile earns a 36 out of 50 (Very Good), matching the previous episode's score but illustrating an important distinction: judging to style versus drinking for enjoyment. While Matt finds the beer slightly restrained for a dry-hopped pilsner in competition terms, he makes it clear this is a beer he would happily order multiple times in a real-world setting—especially as a meal-friendly, refreshing lager with depth. With no beer reviews to roast, the episode closes with a festive twist: Matt reads brutal one-star reviews of A Christmas Story, turning the beer's name into an excuse for some unexpectedly dark and hilarious holiday commentary.
The second episode of Matt Likes Beer for 2026 dives into one of the most talked-about craft beers of the past few years: PB&J Mixtape, the peanut butter and jelly sour from XUL Beer Company in Knoxville, Tennessee. Frequently spotted on shelves nationwide and featured prominently at Halloween Horror Nights, this beer has developed a near-cult following—and Matt finally gives it the full BJCP-style evaluation it's been begging for. Matt shares his long history with PB&J Mixtape, from first discovering it through Tavour during its early limited releases to watching it go viral after expanded production in 2023–2025. Along the way, he explains how the beer transitioned from rare brewery-only release to nationwide phenomenon, why demand exploded, and how XUL scaled production without sacrificing quality. The review itself breaks format in an interesting way. Matt judges the beer as a BJCP 29B Fruit and Spice Beer with a Straight Sour base, evaluating how well the peanut butter, grape jelly, and sour components balance against each other. While the beer delivers exactly what it promises—liquid peanut butter and jelly—it earns a 36 out of 50 (Very Good) on technical judging, mainly due to balance and mouthfeel considerations. On pure enjoyment, however, Matt makes it clear: this beer is an absolute blast to drink. With no one-star reviews to read (a rarity), the episode evolves into a deeper conversation about gluten-free, seltzer-based sours, whether they should be judged alongside traditional beers, and what their rise says about the current—and future—state of craft beer. Matt closes with a candid reflection on declining craft beer sales, changing consumer tastes, and why beers like PB&J Mixtape may be exactly what keeps people engaged with fermented beverages in the years ahead. This episode is equal parts beer review, industry commentary, and passionate defense of fun, creative brewing.

What are the games that still hold a special place in our heart, even if we think they're bad games? Why do they have a hold on us? The post The Punished Podcast: Episode 22 – Nostalgia (For Games That Aren’t Very Good?!) appeared first on The Punished Backlog.
Things Discussed: OFFENSE Bryce Underwood had has best game yet. Throws down the middle of the field can beat ANYTHING. His RPO reads are on point. Chip is doing a great job with him. How do they keep finding these TEs? Michigan made a lot of young guy mistakes but also overcame them because they have kids who can step up. Max Bredeson for Heisman? PFF numbers on him don't capture what he does. The split stretch trap TD was a *READ* by Bredeson!!! Offensive philosophies: One school of thought (Lloyd, Harbaugh) is if you option you let the defense call the plays. Other school of thought (Chip, Malzahn) is take what they give you. Post-Gattis, M ran maybe three RPOs/season. Blake Frazier: Still not super strong but that agility is visible. Ryan Hayes as a RS Fr would have looked like this. In the break: Sam Webb's football career, Craig praises Seth/Brian, Seth says there are MSU guys who would do this sort of thing (e.g. Chris Vannini) if they had the fanbase to support it. Michigan fans want to KNOW more than they want to believe. DEFENSE USC gameplan vs the Washington gameplan. This was the Ohio State 2024 gameplan: play four against the run, 75% two-deep, lots of QQH, and invite the opponent to screw up. Will Howard, Demond Williams: these are college QBs. If you give them enough opportunities to make hard reads they'll screw up and throw it at a defender. This has gotta be hard for Wink because if you play this way against an NFL team you'll get shredded. Vanilla defense unlocked fast play from their linebackers. Yay Michigan went away from Bear fronts against 2 TEs on the field. This is hard for Wink, but he's not good at disguising fire blitzes, and believes he does. Got away with it at the Ravens because he had great man coverage defenders. He needs to use less of them to keep them effective. They still got taken advantage of on passing downs in this game. Edge defense: only one Barham went too high incident, which is VERY GOOD! Hutch would have games with 1 or 2 and I'd praise him to the heavens. Need to calibrate. M mixing more man into their coverages. Jordan Young out there at the end of the half—that kind of stuff has to stop. Young is young Rod Moore, but at this stage it's Rod against Washington in 2021 not Rod against OSU—Rod needed time to become the guy who could start against Ohio State.
In this episode of Two Strike Noise, Jeff and Mark open in the Jesus Montero Studio, where an ice cream sandwich has never been more dangerous. From there, the guys dig into a card-collecting dad-and-son duo who cornered the market on Greg Briley, a record-shattering Hall of Fame induction program, and John Kruk's musings on clocks, vegans, and sandwiches. They check in on the Little League World Series, where one Canadian kid has already labeled Juan Soto “overrated,” and highlight professional sluggers who quietly joined the 500-home run club outside MLB. Plus, anniversaries and debuts galore: Nolan Ryan's 5,000th strikeout, Carmelo Martinez's fly-ball “weakness,” Big Mac's towel-wrapped sitcom cameo, and Dustin Pedroia's Hall of Very Good candidacy. The main feature this week is Mark's deep dive into Mike Marshall — not the Dodgers first baseman, but the 1974 Cy Young–winning reliever whose 106 appearances, 208 innings, and obsession with kinesiology made him one of baseball's most fascinating arms. A new MP3 sermon from Answers in Genesis Ministries is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Mosquitos—Very Good? Subtitle: Answers with Ken Ham Speaker: Ken Ham Broadcaster: Answers in Genesis Ministries Event: Radio Broadcast Date: 6/27/2025 Length: 1 min.
As highlighted throughout this series, humanity's fall corrupted God's “Very Good” intention for Creation, undermining mankind's mandate to dwell interdependently and justly with God and one another. As a consequence, self-preservation displaced community transformation as love, mercy, and justice were replaced by hate, prejudice, and politics. However, God's plan for creation has not changed. This series finale details how the ministry of Jesus serves as the ultimate act of civil disobedience, disrupting the systems of this world and recommissioning us for the glory of God and the "Very Good" of creation.
Before God ever gave the world a prophet, a king, or a pastor—He gave the world a father. Before there were positions, platforms, or pulpits —there was a garden…and in that garden, God planted a man. Not as a ruler to dominate, but as a reflection of Himself— A cultivator, a protector, a name-giver…Fatherhood is sacred. Not just functional. Not just biological. Not optional. It's part of the Very Good design of God.
Chapter 2: The Four C's (Part 2) Episode Overview Andy finishes the Four C's conversation with Clarity and Carat Weight, delivers his legendary Diamond-to-Steak conversion chart, and cuts through the industry's microscopic bullshit to give you what actually matters when you're standing in that jewelry store. Key Takeaways The Clarity Reality Check: She doesn't need a flawless diamond unless she specifically asked for one - she just wants it to look that way Clarity grades are determined by gemologists with microscopes, not naked eyes in natural lighting The difference between technically flawless and "looks flawless" can save you thousands 99% of diamond inclusions are invisible without specialized equipment Focus on VS2-SI1 for best value - they look identical to higher grades but cost significantly less Carat Weight - Size vs. Reality: One carat = 0.2 grams = about one Skittle (finally, a measurement that makes sense) Carat measures weight, not size - two diamonds can weigh the same but look completely different Diamond cutters face a constant battle: preserve weight (money) vs. create ideal proportions (beauty) The real artists sacrifice weight for performance every time The Money-Saving Secret: Diamonds jump in price at half and whole carat marks A 0.9 carat might cost 20% less than a 1.0 carat of identical quality Nobody can spot the difference with the naked eye Buy just under those magic thresholds: 0.9 instead of 1.0, 1.4 instead of 1.5 The Quick Decision Guide: Cut Grade: Excellent/Ideal worth every penny, Very Good is the sweet spot, Good or lower proceed with caution Color: G-H is the sweet spot, I-J smart value, D-F if you have the budget and appreciate the difference Clarity: VS2-SI1 best value, SI2 can work if inspected, Flawless-VVS for bragging rights The Diamond-to-Steak Conversion Chart: Cut = Chef's Skill: Best beef poorly cooked is a travesty, average beef perfectly cooked is a religious experience Color & Clarity = Grade of Beef: Prime costs more than choice, you're paying for rarity within rarity Carat Weight = Portion Size: An 8-ounce filet costs more than a 6-ounce of the same quality Memorable Quote "A good diamond will be good forever. A bad diamond will be bad forever." - Andy's reminder that this decision has permanent consequences. What's Next The "investment value" of diamonds - and dear Lord, they've got it so wrong. This horoscope is for the new moon in Gemini, which happens on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 11:02 p.m. ET.Book a reading with me on my website at etherealastrology.com/readings.We have recently started to act in a new and different way that is simpler, easier, and more passionate (with less work, stress, and responsibility). This is a very good thing that is key to getting us into a new, different, and better experience of life that we have been trying to get to since 2020.As a result, we are now at this new moon in Gemini trying to more fully adapt to this new way of behaving so that we can continue to do it more. We are also trying to learn more about this new approach, tweak it a little, and communicate about it without others. We are actually having a lot of good support to do that! Not only that, but we are also dismantling a lot of old ideas and beliefs about how we should behave, in order to better adopt this new approach — and are envisioning a different future with it.That is helping us to feel more empowered, have more fun with these new behaviors, and make some more small progress on things that we desire in positive ways. But even though we ARE making progress to improve our lives and the progress is VERY GOOD, we eventually get frustrated that this progress isn't BIG ENOUGH or hasn't lead us achieve the full and final good result. As a result, we may feel stuck. We may also revert back into old habits and behaviors like pushing and forcing things too much, or making everything harder and more complicated than it needs to be. These old behaviors will prevent us from moving forward into the new and better experiences we so desire. As a result, we are learning to CONTINUE with these different actions that are simpler and easier EVEN MORE than before, to trust that they will work (even if it doesn't seem like it), and to tweak them tiny bits to make them even better! If we can do that, new and better circumstances are RIGHT around the corner, only just a few short weeks away.It would be such a shame to give up now when we are so close.Contents of this video ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬(0:00) Introduction(02:15) General Themes(11:30) Past Context(20:00) Specifics(58:50) Summary(1:02:20) Other Notes(1:33:00) Inside Degrees(1:40:15) TarotFollow me on Instagram:http://www.instagram.com/ethereal_astrologyWatch me daily on Horoscope.com:https://www.horoscope.com/us/horoscopes/general/horoscope-overview-daily-today.aspx Hosted on Acast.
