What did you think of this episode? Send me a text message and let me know! We're diving into a tricky topic today: orthorexia. While it's not officially classified as an eating disorder, it shares a lot of similarities and is a form of disordered eating. What most people don't understand is that perimenopause is a particularly vulnerable window for developing it. For this reason, I'm honored to have Dr. Morgan Francis with us—she's an eating disorder therapist and she's here to help us wrap our brains around a definition of orthorexia. You'll discover how to protect yourself from the traps set for us in midlife by diet and wellness culture. We'll also dive into how to release all-or-nothing thinking and save room on our plates for carbs! #079 - This week on The Meg Rock Show, I sat down with Alana Van Der Sluys. Alana is a Freedom With Food & Fitness Coach, she shares how she was insecure about her body when she was younger and her need to control her weight. Alana felt that by controlling what she ate, she had control over her life and it wasn't until she had the thought of, "Hey, maybe I wanna have kids one day and this is not going to benefit me" did she change the way she saw food and fitness. We talk a lot about how she stepped into that knowledge and how she made a decision to change it for herself so that she could help other women not experience the same things that she did. She wants to give women the reassurance that their weight is not their worth or an indicator of their health.
