In space, no one can hear your podcast—but here on Earth, you can join Rolando, Nicole, and Eddie Z as they embark on a thrilling journey into the chilling universe of the Alien franchise. This week, we kick things off with a deep dive into Ridley Scott's groundbreaking 1979 classic, "Alien," exploring its lasting impact on the sci-fi horror genre. The discussion doesn't stop there; we'll also explore the sequels, with a surprising amount of appreciation for "Alien Resurrection." Featuring a "sexy" new cast, we debate whether this installment retains the gritty essence of its predecessors. What can audiences expect from this new entry? Does it bring anything new to the table, or is it a nostalgic retread that fans are craving? Tune in to find out as we dissect the evolution of the Alien saga, from its iconic beginnings to its latest reinvention. How I could fix the Alien Universe by combining all of the existing lore, and paying respect to the genius that is the design of the Xenomorph. "To claim that the Aliens were 'engineered' by such weaklings as albino body builders or androids, simply cheapens them." --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/weekendstarwarriors/support
Xeno Has Risen!! That's right, we're wrapping up our coverage of the original Alien Quadrilogy (not a real word) with 1997's exceedingly French and deeply horny fourquel: ALIEN RESURRECTION!! We dig into everything: the sexy basketball with Ripley 8, the meta-xenomorphs, introducing nips, Brad Dourif's many “smootchy” faces, a plea for Winona Ryder, genitalia erasure, and that amazing Clone room scene!! All this, plus we hurdle towards Earth during Choose Your Own Deathventure, and we finally have a #GetBunked in the Alien Universe!! NOTE: We support the WGA West & East - and SAG-AFTRA in their fight for worker's rights! Until further notice, we will not cover current films in theaters or new films dropping on streaming networks. In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing ALIENS (1986) which is currently streaming on the Starz app. The film, directed by James Cameron, is based on characters by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. The screenplay was attributed to Cameron from a story by James Cameron, David Giler and Walter Hill and is the sequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 horror masterpiece. The film follows as Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is sent back up to space by the Company as a senior advisor to figure out what happened to a colony of settlers. The film is relentless action and expanded the Alien Universe with compelling characters, a tight story and top notch 1986 effects. The film has a run time of 2 h 17 m, and is rated R. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review. **Please note we actually saw this in May and this episode is dedicated to our crazy and missed Zeke ** Opening intro music: GOAT by Wayne Jones, courtesy of YouTube Audio Library. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jokagoge/support

We celebrate Alien Day with a special 2 part podcast covering all things in the Alien universe. This week, we kick things of with a retrospective of the movie Alien. Our first experiences, the things we remember, and the beginnings of the Xenomorph. It’s no doubt that the Alien franchise sits nicely at the top of the mountain of sci-fi franchises. How does Alien compare to other sci-fi franchises? With so much going on with the Xenomorphs, we start discussing what universes we would like to see the Alien Universe crossover with. We wrap things up with a chat about the ability of the Xenomorphs to take on the characteristics of its “host” victim. What creature/being would be the most powerful iteration of a Xenomorph?
