.We're celebrating both Alien Day and your Patreon Pick with 1986's ALIENS! We'll discuss James Cameron's pitch for the movie, try to figure out how long Katy Perry would last against an Alien, and maybe Brent committed a wild west crime! We mostly come at night. Mostly.

"GAME OVER, MAN! IT'S GAME OVER!"Alien Day ... 4/26 ... is this Saturday, but since Teebs and KidPhoenix release episodes on Wednesdays, we have to talk about the "Alien" franchise, today. This time, Savanah Tiffany (friend of the podcast) joins as they are newly minted into the franchise. They've only been watching the films for a year or so culminating in watching Alien: Romulus last summer (and being on this podcast). There have been several Alien movies as well as a pair of Alien vs. Predator crossover movies. Where should these movies be tiered? That's what we'll all find out, today!Check your motion trackers.Shots will be fired even though we can't have any firing in here. We need rifles slung. (Note: the episode art is an itsy-bitsy preview of the full design that will be revealed on April 26th) One of our favorite Alien Day traditions is our annual t-shirt unveiling. Over the past near-decade, we've gotten to work with tons of gifted artists from around Alien fandom – and this year is VERY MUCH no exception. DeadDark – whose actual name is Ross, and who can be found on IG here (for his digital art @deaddark23) and here (for his tattooing @_deaddark) – is a crazy talented artist/Alien Saga superfan. On today's episode, Perry and Patrick chat with Ross about all things xenomorph, and share a little preview of the art that will be fully unveiled on Alien Day (just four days from now!). Make sure you don't miss a thing on April 26th by following us on socials if you aren't already! The shirt will be unveiled in the afternoon, and it will be available at a promotional discount for a limited time. When we last had concept artist Nick Stath on Perfect Organism (way back at episode 240, released on Alien Day 2024!), we were just months from the release of Alien: Romulus. Given how intimately involved Nick was with the artistic appearance of that movie, we had to be very careful to avoid spoiling anything. But now we've had Romulus out and in the world for seven months (can you believe it?), and we circled back with Nick to discuss his Romulus contributions in great detail. In this episode (recorded on Alien Day in 2023) Kieran, Paul and I return to the 1950s to discuss 'The Quatermass Xperiment', a cracking British sci-fi horror movie from director Val Guest. Along the way we find time to discuss Dame Thora Hird, how electricity works, the Species films, 'trains stuff' and the (then) upcoming royal coronation. This episode was recorded as a Patreon exclusive episode (over at https://www.patreon.com/ErrP) but now it's free to listen to, for your audio entertainment. Enjoy!

There's a saying in Hollywood: if you want to get your film made, be able to pitch it in an elevator ride. The setup for No Man's Land, Christian Kennedy's mega-hit Alien fan film, is about as pitchable as it gets: "Battlefield I meets Aliens." Of course, a pitch will only get you so far. The execution is where the real magic happens. And Christian's film—which is just under 30 minutes long and has already racked up nearly 4.5 million views—is a masterclass in execution. With killer cinematography, great effects, period-accurate costuming, and some great xenos, No Man's Land has been a massive hit with Alien fans since its release just two months ago. In this Alien Day special, Jaime and Perry discuss the film with Christian and learn how he brought such an ambitious vision to life without a massive Hollywood budget. Make sure you watch the film first! In 1979, Ridley Scott took a story from writer Dan O'Bannon and turned it into one of the greatest franchises in pop culture history: "Alien". The franchise has gone through several evolutions in story telling and tone, but the core DNA (or at least parts) of the original Alien movie are in each new iteration. For "Alien Day" -- which is this Friday, April 26 -- Teebs and KidPhoenix discuss the movies and video games of this storied IP franchise and why each are special in their own way. We're celebrating Alien Day with Ridley Scott's Alien prequel, Prometheus (2012), a film that sparks plenty of debate with guests Ian Carlos and Zach Patton-Garcia of My Bloody Judy. This is a beautiful, divisive film, filled with heady philosophical questions about life and religion, and also scientists who take off their helmets on alien planets and can't run left or right.Plus: Charlize Theron hate from Zach, mouth rape, Honest Trailer reactions, gays who can't do math, why Vickers deserved to live, and lots of talk about (former episode) Alien: Covenant and the two Alien vs Predator films.Questions? Happy Alien Day! We are pleased to present our interview with former Fox executive, Joshua Izzo. In 2022, we interviewed informal Alien Day founder Alaric Hahn. This year, we're talking to the man in charge of starting Alien Day as we know it on a corporate level. Josh Izzo is the former Director of Licensing at 20th Century Fox, before it was purchased by Disney. This was one of the most insightful and fascinating conversations that pulls back the curtain at what was happening in the company before Disney stepped in. We hope you enjoy. // Apple Podcasts: bit.ly/perfectorganismitunes // For more on this and our other projects, please visit www.perfectorganism.com. // If you'd like to join the conversation, find us on our closed Facebook group: Building Better Worlds // To support the show, please consider visiting www.perfectorganism.com/support. As we celebrate Alien Day 2023, the Perfect Organism podcast teams sits down to discuss the behind-the-scenes of their first short film production. From the first ideas for the story, to the incredible work our friends Maj and Xander would contribute, the team shares every aspect of the creation of this special story. Alien Transmission is the first release by Perfect Organism to connect to existing audio dramas and video diaries. If you're a fan of Alien: Abandon, and our YouTube web diary series, Alien: Outland, you'll want to listen in and find out how this all began. Happy 4/26, the day we celebrate the Alien franchise! This year I pay tribute to two of my favorite Aliens comics, both from 1993 and both exploring the role of faith in a dark universe filled with monsters: Sacrifice and Salvation. And joining me on this journey into xeno funny books are Paul and Steve from Invasion of the Podcast! ENDING MUSIC: Proximity Suspense by Damokles Support TWoRP Contact Us talkwithoutrhythm@gmail.com

We're taking a break this week to work on our Alien Day content. We hope you enjoy an exclusive episode of Frame Rate, our Patreon-exclusive film review show. To say HBO's The Last of Us had a high bar to clear would be putting it mildly. For one thing, it would need to adapt one of the most critically acclaimed video games in history to a different medium. But to be successful, it would also need to speak to new fans in an urgent way, while carrying along the fans who'd been there since 2013. To simultaneously satisfy a generation of PlayStation gamers' expectations while surprising them enough to feel like more than a series of cutscenes. In this installment of Frame Rate—the first of (at least) two episodes we're dedicating to TLOU—Jaime, Patrick, Micah, and Dan (Ferlito, who came back just for the occasion!) explore the first season of this landmark television series in depth. Please—please—make sure you've watched all the episodes of season one before listening to this, as we go very much into spoilers. We're taking a break this week as we work on our Alien Day 2023 content. Sebastián Lelio's The Wonder might look like a typical period drama from the outside, but anyone who's watched it knows it's anything but typical. A devastating look at trauma, belief, and redemption, The Wonder unfolds almost like a horror film. Based on a novel and starring a riveting Florence Pugh, The Wonder released to Netflix in late 2022. If you haven't watched it yet, be sure to check it out before listening to this episode (as is the case with all Frame Rates). There are massive spoilers inside. But if you have watched it, join Jaime, Patrick, and Micah as they discuss this powerful film and its resonance in their lives. // For more on this and our other projects, please visit www.bladerunnerpodcast.com // If you'd like to join the conversation, find us on our closed Facebook group: Fields of Calantha. // To support the show, please consider visiting www.bladerunnerpodcast.com/support.
