And so, we delve deeper into another chapter of the sprawling Key to Time saga, and we may need another pair of hands to help guide us, and maybe even offer a sacrifice for the greater good: yes - more metal than Robot's right leg, it's Andrew O Neill! So join us all as we get out our big pink wands, and find The Stones of Blood! What does 1970s British horror have to do with the Saw movies? Everything, according to Cliff, who's currently obsessed with Jigsaw's antics. The other Devils and their guests (Andrew O'Neill & Megan Aileen Williams) are more into playing 70s TV bingo, with Monty Python, Dad's Army, Doctor Who and others getting a look-in. Plus we discuss a few films too, including new releases Great White, PG: Psycho Goreman and, yes, Spiral: From the Book of Saw.
This episode comes from the much derided and profoundly strange city of Milton Keynes. The Lorepokes are joined by comedy maverick, steampunk pioneer and practising ritual magician Andrew O’Neill. MK’s ultra-modernist architecture conceals a cursed elm tree, a diabolical neighbour and a time-travelling windmill. Learn the secret of invisibility from Aleister Crowley, try to avoid the Illuminati and DO NOT EAT THE MYSTERY JELLY. You have been warned. Loreboys nether say die! Our listeners, who art in the internet, hallowed be this episode of Worst Foot Forward. We are getting blasphemous this week in every possible religion by denouncing the World's Worst God with comic, musician and practicer of magic, Andrew O'Neill. We look at obscure ancient deities, eternal bacon, Dutch eel-vendors and Andrew tells us about the ultimate case of 'cutting your nose of to spite your face'. Oh, behave! It’s another episode of Riot Act baby! ...ahem. This week Steve and Remfry spend a bit of quality time together discussing the new album from Clutch, Attan and the ‘groovy’ new album from Pig Destroyer. Yes, really. We also dip our toe into the as yet untouched worlds of hip-hop and electronic music to see what part of it fits under the alternative umbrella. Heavy metal comedian Andrew O’Neill joins us to talk about the most hilarious moments in metal. There is also a load of Austin Powers impressions for literally no reason... Sorry about that! We talk about this authentic approach to learning as well as discuss a few small successes as we move into the second year of a report format of PE Scholarship.
Robin and Josie introduce the live panel held on Friday night at the 2016 Latitude where we asked the question, is art a spell? David Bowie's final work, visually and aurally, was some of the most potent of his career, made all the more so by his death three days after the release of Blackstar. His favourite books contained many on art, the occult and magick - so are the great creators shamanic… The panel, hosted by Robin, includes Daisy Campbell, Andrew O’Neill, John Constable and Hollie McNish.
The Lost Treasures Of The Black Heart is a sort of comedy club in Camden town each month, where comedians, writers and musicians write special sets venerating an unsung hero or celebrating an obscure thing. It's very rough and silly. It's compered by Josie Long, who tries out new ideas and improvises things. We hope you like it, we wanted to make it as close to the bizarre, ramshackle nature of the night as possible. Welcome to our ongoing attempt to catch up on the recordings we've made over the last couple of years - we will get up to date soon....somehow! Return with us now to September 11th 2012 (too soon) and hear Josie getting amazed that Lewisham now has a branch of Tiger (not an actual tiger, the shop Tiger) listen closely to hear if anyone wins a Walnut Whip or a bucket of mustard. Infact, throughout the show, there's at least five minutes of unneccessary mustard chat. Enjoy! This month's podcast features sets by Andrew O'Neill (@destructo9000), Martin Croser (@M_Croser), Sam Schafer (@shafersam), Phil O'Shea (@PhilOSheacomedy), Deborah Frances-White (@DeborahFW), Alex Edelman (@alex_edelman), Mawaan Rizwan (@MawaanR) and our excellent resident act Nathaniel Metcalfe (@natmetcalfe) who, this month, takes a trip even further back into time to discuss mid 90s sitcom Men Behaving Badly. The first ever episode of the Think Tank Podcast sees Andrew O'Neill, Grainne Maguire and Gareth Richards putting forward their ideas on how to improve our education system to a panel of real life politicians. Recorded just before the 2015 election, on the Panel is John Ferrett (Labour candidate for Portsmouth North), Tim Dawes (Green candidate for Havant) and Flick Drummond (Conservative candidate and now MP for Portsmouth South. We have more podcasts and live shows planned for the autumn 2015, check out www.joewells.org.uk for more details.
2012 #4: Andrew O'Neill and Juliet Meyers. After 2 days of nearly lost podcasts can we make it 3 in a row? All seems fine with the desk, but who would believe that workmen in the street would drill through cables and disrupt it all again? Well they did, but luckily Rich had switched on the Tascam as we get an 'interesting' chat with Steam Punk transvestite O'Neill (who manages to be funny sometimes too!). Jack the Ripper, Ian Huntley and the people of Sutton turn out to be comedic topics, as does the generally distracted nature of comedians and sex with Doctor Who monsters. Lots more besides and some great stand-up from Juliet Meyers.
Richard has now been talking to comedians for 24 hours - it'll take you a whole day to listen. And there's one more to come. Hopefully our technical gremlins are behind us and after 10 gigs in 2 days Rich had an early night. And though he apparently looks like a tramp he is in good spirits. Made better by the fact that his guest is Isy Suttie, from off of that scene in the stationery cupboard in Peep Show (if you don't know what Peep Show is or what TV is, that all gets explained in the podcast - though we forgot to explain what a podcast is, sorry). You'll find out what happens when you don't put helium in your balloon, how celebrity death can wreck a comedy routine and if a member of Pink Floyd stole Isy's guitar. Top drawer stand-up from Andrew O'Neill. There's only one more to go.
