In a recent episode of "The Real Estate Moguls Podcast," host Nick DeGregorio sat down with Sean Lyons, founder and partner of Triad Real Estate Partners and Jackson Dearborn Partners, to delve into the principles that have propelled Sean and his companies to remarkable heights. This conversation is a treasure trove of wisdom, filled with actionable insights for anyone looking to excel in the real estate industry or any field.Sean Lyons' journey is a testament to resilience and persistence. As Nick and Sean discuss, Triad Real Estate Partners has completed an astonishing $6.8 billion in real estate valuations, with over a billion in total closings. Since its inception in 2017, Jackson Dearborn Partners has undertaken 11 development projects totaling over $650 million in capitalization. These numbers are impressive, but the story behind them is even more compelling.Sean attributes much of his success to a mindset of persistence and focusing on controllable factors. "Our business is really challenging, like a lot of businesses are," Sean notes. "We can really only focus on the things that we can control, and I think by doing that, we've been able to make progress year over year." This mindset has not only sustained his business but has also forged strong professional relationships built on mutual respect and shared values.Nick guides the conversation towards the importance of daily habits and routines. Sean's approach, inspired by Darren Hardy's "The Compound Effect," emphasizes the power of small, consistent actions. "Do the little things every day," Sean advises. "The belief that if you continue to do the same things day in, day out, those efforts compound over time and ultimately produce positive results."Education and early career experiences also play a crucial role in shaping one's professional journey. Sean reflects on his time at Boston College and Marcus & Millichap, highlighting how these experiences laid the foundation for his current success. "Every step along the way was a necessary step in order for me to be sitting here talking to you now," he tells Nick.A significant part of Sean's philosophy revolves around maintaining a work-life balance, a lesson he learned through his role as a father of four. He emphasizes the importance of controlling one's time to prioritize what truly matters. "Time is the one commodity that none of us get any more of," Sean explains. "To me, that's the definition of success."For those aspiring to transition from brokerage to development, Sean offers invaluable advice: find a mentor. Teaming up with someone who has walked the path before can provide the necessary support and legitimacy. "We wouldn't have been able to do the majority of what we've been able to do to date without the help of our partner Chris Saunders," he shares. As the episode concludes, Sean leaves listeners with a powerful piece of advice: focus on what you can control. "When something comes at me, a challenge or an issue, I immediately put it into one of two categories: can I influence or control the outcome here in any way? If the answer is yes, it goes to one side of the ledger. If the answer is no, it goes to another side."This conversation with Sean Lyons is a must-listen for anyone seeking to navigate the complexities of real estate with resilience, strategy, and a focus on what truly matters.

F-Stop Collaborate and Listen - A Landscape Photography Podcast
For many photographers, planning our photography trips can be a chore or can feel like a waste of time. That resonates with me and I rarely spend a lot of time planning my adventures because I personally have not found it to be very helpful in my success as a photographer; however, I see great value in the process and appreciate those who dedicate themselves to doing it well. Today's guest on the F-Stop Collaborate and Listen Podcast, Chris Saunders, is well-respected by his peers in Australia and is producing some of the most evocative aerial work that can be found. One of the keys to his success revolves around meticulous planning and an attention to detail - something he has developed as an engineer. On this week's episode, we discuss: Chris' journey as a photographer and engineer. Starting with the end in mind before setting out to create work. Finding ways to make the mundane aspects of photography more fun. Approaches to planning photography projects. The benefits and challenges of collaboration. How to collaborate as an introvert. Printing our work from home. And a lot more! On Patreon this week, Chris and I recorded a juicy chat where we discuss processing of aerial images. Being able to generate thousands of dollars in sales, just by typing a few words on a laptop is as close to having magic powers as it gets. So let's talk copywriting… Lots of folks are intimidated by copywriting. But the truth is, whether it's an email, social post, or YouTube video… EVERYTHING you create for your business is “copy”. That's what makes copywriting the most must-have, master skill of them all. And why you can't afford to ignore it. Co-hosts Jeff Walker and Chris Saunders are joined by members of Jeff's team Justin Livingston and Dan Walker (Jeff's son!) to discuss the role copy plays in your business, critical copywriting resources you can leverage, and the role of promises, as well as some of the pitfalls to beware. Also, in this week's episode: How to take your copy skills to a whole new level… by answering just 3 simple questions Where the world's best copywriters go for ideas when starting a new promotion (do this and you'll never have to face the blank page again) Why copywriting will always be a highly valued and in-demand skill… no matter how advanced ChatGPT or AI becomes The ONE thing you need to know before sitting down to write ANY copy Why – despite having several seven and eight-figure students – I've NEVER published a case study of a million-dollar launch (and I don't think I ever will) The biggest mistake entrepreneurs make when hiring a copywriter (plus – the simple test non-copywriters can do that shows them whether copy is good or bad) Why smaller promises often generate more sales PLUS – Where you can download my brand-new “8 Rules for Copywriting” guide… for free … and much more. For some photographers, the goal of photography transcends capturing pretty moments of pretty things. While there's nothing wrong with this approach, it can begin to feel repetitive and lacking purpose for some. As such, finding ways to have our photography be about more, have more impact, and ultimately make the world a better place is the next step in the journey. Today's guest on the F-Stop Collaborate and Listen Podcast, Paul Hoelen, is well known for his evocative and beautiful aerial photography from Australia and Tasmania, having won the inaugural Natural Landscape Photography Awards Aerial Prize. What's not as well known about Paul are his incredible personal projects that he focuses a lot of energy and passion into. On this week's episode, we discuss: How Paul got his start in photography. How Paul's background in wilderness therapy informed his photography journey. Instilling meaning and purpose into our photography pursuits. Making the world a better place through photography. Paul's Men With Heart Project. The role of collaboration in Paul's work. Paul's aerial photography collection. Altitude South Project. The Light Collective. And a lot more!
