"...God blesses those people who make peace. They will be called his children!..."This week, I am reading the words of Jesus and His approach to opponents from Matthew 5 and 6.View the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon about Enmity and Fundraising Letters from July 7, 1995.Reflection questions:If you were to give your fundraising appeal to an opponent to read, how would they respond?  Would the letter be consider fair?  Considerate?  Even loving? When you are speaking with a donor about an opponent of your mission, are you portraying the opponent in the best possible light even if you are outlining policy or tactical disagreements?  Reflection on quote:My favorite cartoon is Calvin and Hobbes.  On July 7, 1995, the cartoonist Bill Watterson published a particularly apt description of a trend in fundraising.  While I encourage you to view the cartoon and I have placed the link in the show notes, let me read the captions. Calvin states, “I'm writing a fund-raising letter.  The secret to getting donations is to depict everyone who disagrees with you as the enemy.  Then you explain how they're systemically working to destroy everything you hold dear.  It's a war of values! Rational discussion is hopeless!  Compromise is unthinkable! Our only help is well-funded antagonism to keep up the fight.  Hobbes replies. How cynically unconstructive.  Calvin responds, Enmity sells.”  Enmity in fundraising does sell.  The short-term gains by creating enemies and fear are measurable.  Yet, in the long-term, true generosity suffers. As I record this week's podcast, the United States is in political turmoil.  And, unfortunately, there are those in fundraising who will take the opportunity to double-down on enmity in their fundraising copy.  And, I'm genuinely grieved when I read these fundraising appeals where people are made to be the enemy.  People are never the enemy.  We can disagree about policies and tactics.  But, when we make people the enemy instead, we are creating fear among our donors with their own neighbors and in doing so we break down societal and community bonds.  This not only hurts our opponents, but it will do long term damage to generosity and our own organizations. The text of Matthew 5 and 6 have entered the public domain. What do you think? To explore fundraising coaching deeper and to schedule an exploratory session, visit ServingNonprofits.com.Music credit: Woeisuhmebop

The gang is back again! It's the first episode of the month of Love, and we sure are starting off with a bang. This week, we come in (2:52) with Will Smith and Big Sean's new record "Beautiful Scars" leading us into the hate mail (10:55) Danny got again during the week for his agenda against Igbo women. LOL! After the controversy, Naomie poses two questions of the week (39:08) on taking a job that requires us to quit the show, and in what world could accept our moms finding love again outside our dads if something unfortunate happened. Then on Nana's Corner (57:47), we discuss the LA fires, the recent Washington plane crash, Trump coming in hot since resuming office, The Oscars 2025 nominations, Akademics getting banned off Twitch after sexual harassment of a 15-year-old boy, A$AP Rocky and his latest trials, and the Tuface (1:29:41) and Annie saga + MORE! In the main portion (1:50:07) of the show, we discuss the conversation tagged "Consideration versus People Pleasing" and we carefully dissect both concepts as they relate to our relationships, friendships, and families. We discuss moments when we have had to people please to get people's approval and Danny disagrees with the idea of people pleasing as he believes it's never too much to come through for his people. Then we discuss the power that consideration holds in a romantic relationship and why it is an expectation, especially for men from society. We also talk about pleasing in the bedroom (3:10:02) in relationships as well. Then we wrap up this amazing conversation with new music and movie recommendations + MORE! They wanted to discredit the name of this consecrated missionary of the gospel. As the author was doing his research, he was increasingly impressed by Taylor's saintly character and godly life, and he found it extremely difficult to carry out his assigned task with a clear conscience. Eventually, at the risk of losing his life, he laid aside his pen, renounced his atheism, and received Jesus as his personal Savior. Whether we realize it or not, our example leaves an impression on others. Sign in an executive's office: "What I am about to say represents one four-billionth of the world's opinion." Jack Williams, Phoenix Gazette. Dr. John Geddie went to Aneityum in 1848 and worked there for God for 24 years. On the tablet erected to his memory these words are inscribed: When he landed, in 1848, there were no Christians. When he left, in 1872, there were no heathen. J.O. Sanders, Spiritual Leadership, p. 24. An elderly gentleman was sitting on a park bench, basking in the sun, when another elderly fellow sat down. They looked at each other for a moment but did not speak. Both men sat there, staring straight ahead. After a while, one of them heaved a big, heartfelt sigh. The other jumped up immediately and said, "If you're going to talk politics, I'm leaving." Bits Pieces, June 24, 1993, p. 7. 24 No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment? 26 Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they? Nonne vos magis pluris estis illis?  27 And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit? 28 And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin. 29 But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these. 30 And if the grass of the field, which is today, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith? 31 Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed? 32 For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.haec enim omnia gentes inquirunt. Scit enim Pater vester, quia his omnibus indigetis.  33 Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.Quaerite ergo primum regnum Dei, et justitiam ejus : et haec omnia adjicientur vobis. If one opens a window lower than 4 amot, and the neighbors don't protest, then the one who did so can keep it, as a chazakah. A high window, however, doesn't get the status of chazakah, because it's not the kind of thing that people protested - except that R. Ilai disagrees. Which some say means not permitting one to protest for the sake of not being too selfish, like the traits of the biblical Sodom. Also, a new mishnah! On the airspace of a shared courtyard - for example, a beam that reaches into the courtyard, which will establish ownership if it's not protested. Plus, another mishnah, with more on what is permissible in a home on a shared courtyard -- for example, opening a loft into a home, but not into the courtyard.

Today, we're focusing on how to practically apply God's wisdom in various aspects of life. Our key Scripture for this episode is James 3:17. We'll discuss how wisdom leads to peace, mercy, and good fruit, and offer tips for living out God's wisdom in personal and professional settings. Our springboard for today's discussion is: James 3:17: "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." This verse describes the characteristics of heavenly wisdom, emphasizing its purity, peace, and positive impact.Applying God's wisdom in our daily lives transforms our actions and interactions. Heavenly wisdom, as described in James 3:17, is characterized by purity, peace, consideration, submission, mercy, good fruit, impartiality, and sincerity. These attributes guide us to live in a way that honors God and benefits those around us.Practical Applications of God's Wisdom:* In Personal Relationships:* Peace-loving: Strive to resolve conflicts and promote harmony in your relationships. Ephesians 4:2-3 encourages us to be humble, gentle, and patient, bearing with one another in love and maintaining the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.* Considerate and Submissive: Show respect and understanding toward others, valuing their perspectives and needs. Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us to do nothing out of selfish ambition but to consider others above ourselves.* In Professional Settings:* Full of Mercy and Good Fruit: Practice compassion and kindness in the workplace, fostering a supportive and positive environment. Colossians 3:12-14 calls us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.* Impartial and Sincere: Ensure fairness and integrity in your professional dealings, avoiding favoritism and deceit. Proverbs 11:1 highlights the importance of honest scales and balances, symbolizing fair and just practices.ConclusionLiving out God's wisdom involves applying its principles in every aspect of our lives. By embodying the characteristics described in James 3:17, we can make decisions that honor God and positively impact those around us.A Question of the Day: How can you apply God's wisdom in your personal and professional life to promote peace, mercy, and good fruit?Let's Pray: Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your wisdom. Help us to apply it in our daily lives, promoting peace, mercy, and good fruit in our interactions and decisions. Guide us to live in a way that honors You and benefits those around us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.Remember, putting wisdom into action transforms our lives and those around us. Stay vigilant, stay prayerful, and always seek God's wisdom in your life. #265. It's time for our generation to influence the world with our vernacular, and we're starting with “hotspotting.” It means what you think it means. Then Kory tries his hand at influencing the youth with his imagination which is only rivaled by Bluey's dad. Sometimes fantasy can cause problems. Wanna get away? Faith Bible Church Menifee Sermon Podcast

1 CORINTHIANS Correction With Confidence Because The Faithfulness Of God Toward  His Saints!        1 Corinthians 4:14–21 (ESV) — 14 I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. 15 For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. 16 I urge you, then, be imitators of me. 17 That is why I sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church. 18 Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power. 20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. 21 What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?     THE GOALS OF A LOVING FATHER IN CHRIST (v14-17)   ADMONISHMENT (V14)  Ephesians 6:4 (ESV) — 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.   Discipline and Instruction from the word: 1 Corinthians 10:11 2 Timothy 3:16–17   Discipline and Instruction  of the Lord: Hebrews 12:3-12   EXAMPLE (V16)    1 Corinthians 11:1 (ESV) — 1 Be Imitators Of Me, As I Am Of Christ.                       REPLICATION (V17)  2 Timothy 2:1–2 (ESV) — 1 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.             THE COMMITMENTS OF A LOVING FATHER IN CHRIST (v18)   DETERMINED & DEPENDENT  (V18-19A)    PURPOSED &PRESENT (V19B-20)   CONSIDERATE & COMMITTED (V21)             Hebrews 12:3–13 (ESV) — 3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. 4 In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. 6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” 7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 12 THEREFORE lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.

Thais breaks down the four major attachment styles—securely attached, anxious/preoccupied, dismissive/avoidant, and fearful avoidant—and how each of these shapes our subconscious beliefs about love. We chat about how our childhood experiences mold these styles and the profound impact this has on our adult relationships. I also get a bit personal in this episode, opening up about my own journey and struggles with health and hormones, as well as my path from being dismissive avoidant to becoming securely attached. Thais shares practical strategies for identifying and transforming our attachment patterns, which I found incredibly empowering. And guess what? Lisa Friscia, Leadership Coach and founder of Franca Consulting, talks about her mother Franca who immigrated from Italy to America via Canada as a child, and later quit her corporate job to take care of her three daughters. Mama Franca teaches us to take care of people through details; to create a space where everyone is welcome and included; to respect those who have less; and to know your privilege and give back. Lisa talks about her own professional path from a teacher to the head of HR for a group of 25 schools, her dealing with burnout, and her decision to start her own consulting business. But one of the most interesting aspects of this conversation is the way Lisa connects self-care with work – she wonders if some of Franca's frustrations came from quitting her work in order to care for others, and if keeping her work would have actually been an act of self-care for ther mom. A very important food for thought for many women.  To learn more about Lisa and her consultancy, please visit her website.  To subscribe to Ana's new "Mama Loves…” newsletter, please go here.  To learn more about "Thank You, mama" creative writing workshop, visit here. We want to raise emotionally intelligent, connected and kind children who will become awesome adults. We want them to build good relationships, ask good questions and understand the purpose behind everything they do.   Instead of resigning ourselves to kids just being kids, we can intentionally and proactively teach them what matters and stop reinforcing the wrong ideas.   How do we help our kids communicate, develop and grow? How do we teach them lessons that allow them to thrive well into adulthood?   In this episode, I'm joined by writer, speaker, online community leader, and author of “52 Modern Manners for Kids”, Brooke Romney. She shares why she's passionate about helping children build better relationships, learn good manners and feel more connected.   Self-confidence doesn't come from a parent saying you're awesome 200 times a day. It comes from tackling hard tasks and feeling capable, and that's really important. -Brooke Romney     3 Things You'll Learn in This Episode   -Reinforcing the right ideas  How do we teach our kids to see the purpose behind activities when they aren't based on having fun?   -Forget “kids will be kids” How do we raise our children to become awesome, aware and kind adults?   -Persistence and irrational value  There's no such thing as an overnight success. How did Brooke build her online community?   Guest Bio Brooke Romney is a writer, speaker and leader of an online community who helps moms of teens and tweens create meaningful, healthy and enjoyable relationships with their children through practical application, education and community. Her goal is for every family to feel confident and connected.
