Recap of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly newsmakers of the week
James had never seen Sergio Leone's legendary Western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, so he watched it with Dan and they recorded a podcast about it. In this episode, they discuss Clint Eastwood's iconic gunslinger persona, Eli Wallach's unforgettable performance as Tuco, and Ennio Morricone's soaring score. They also explore the film's sweeping scale, its operatic tension, and the quiet inevitability that leads three outlaws to one of the greatest final showdowns in movie history.Stay Connected:X: @talkinfilmBluesky: @talkinfilm.bsky.socialTikTok: @talkin_filmFacebook: You Talkin' to Me? There are many questions that we ask ourselves throughout our lives—one of which is "do games need remakes?". This week, Aaron and Gerry are joined by Joe (formerly of Mega Boobs) to not only answer that question, but also to chat about some good remakes, some bad remakes, and ones that were totally unecessary. Plop them buds into your ears and get ready to rumble.
On this week's Extra Serving, NRN editor in chief Sam Oches and executive editor Alicia Kelso recap the week in Q1 earnings reports, which saw results from companies like Yum Brands, Brinker, McDonald's, Starbucks, and Wendy's. They start with the bad: Many chains, including McDonald's, Wendy's, and Starbucks, experienced negative sales and traffic as consumers tightened their belts in a shaky economy. In particular, McDonald's reported that it was losing not just low-income consumers, but also middle-income consumers as well. Sam and Alicia talk about this fact and why it could be a major warning sign to the entire industry. Then they talk about the good: Chili's continued to crush (31.6% comp sales growth) while Taco Bell similarly had smooth sailing with 9% sales growth. How do these companies continue to flourish while so many others suffer? Sam and Alicia debate. Finally, managing editor Leigh Anne Zinsmeister joins for this week's extra serving to talk about Culver's hiring of new CEO Julie Fussner and how restaurants can develop a stronger talent pipeline with more female representation. For more on these stories: McDonald's experiences its largest sales decline since the pandemicWendy's executives see consumer pressure persisting through yearChili's continues to streamline operations as volumes increaseTaco Bell is on a roll with a 9% same-store sales increase in Q1

The broader message: mass deportation is the only viable response to the Biden-era migrant influx. U.S. Troops Return to Panama – In a major geopolitical move, America regains access to three former military bases and priority, toll-free access through the Panama Canal—infuriating socialist leaders in Central America. Trump Tariff War Evolves: Retaliation, Cheating, and Supply Risks – Trump eases tariffs on electronics, but China counters with rare earth and drug ingredient restrictions. Chinese firms ramp up fraud to dodge U.S. tariffs, while Trump quietly gears up deep-sea mining to combat resource dependence. U.S. Border Becomes Military Zone – Trump designates parts of the southern border as military land, empowering the Pentagon to detain illegal crossers. Meanwhile, migrants scramble to send money home as new registration and fines kick in. CNN Poll Shows Working-Class Shift to GOP – New polling shows Republicans now tie Democrats in voter perception of “caring about people like me,” a historic shift powered by Trump's appeal to non-college-educated Americans. Bernie and AOC Say Collapse Is Good – Democratic Socialists argue America's decline should be embraced so something new—socialism—can replace it. Trump's coalition, seeing him as a last shot to save the nation, braces for a high-stakes political and cultural battle. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32

Recap of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly newsmakers of the week
In this episode, we've got the amazing Haley Fitzgerald, a triple threat—choreographer, comedian, and actress—joining Lo for a hilarious deep dive into the reality TV that has shaped our society. They reminisce over the golden era of reality TV, that glorious time when everything was a little bit trashier, a lot more dramatic, and shockingly captivating. From the cultural phenomenon that was The Swan to the chaotic rollercoaster that was The NEXT Bus on MTV (remember that mess?), the early 2000s were a masterclass in unfiltered madness. These were the shows that shaped Lo and Haley into who they are today—unhinged, unapologetic and authentic. Lo and Haley also break down the latest season of Love is Blind on Netflix and hold nothing back per usual. They share their honest, unfiltered thoughts on the couples—some they're rooting for, some... not so much. Who's got potential, who's clearly on a fast track to breakup-ville, and who's just plain triggering the hell out of them? They've got opinions and they're spilling them all with you today. Expect a highly entertaining ride from dating red flags to douchebags, with a side of nostalgia and a whole lot of laughs. Whether you've watched Love is Blind or not, this episode is a must-listen.
