In this episode, Randy and Tyler discuss the 2005 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, "Doubt, a Parable" by John Patrick Shanley. From Encyclopedia.com: Set at a Catholic school in the Bronx in 1964, Doubt concerns an older nun, Sister Aloysius, who does not approve of teachers' offering friendship and compassion over the discipline she feels students need in order to face the harsh world. When she suspects a new priest of sexually abusing a student, she is faced with the prospect of charging him with unproven allegations and possibly destroying his career as well as her own. To help build her case, she asks for help from an idealistic young nun, who finds her faith in compassion challenged, and the mother of the accused boy, who is protective of her son, the first black student ever admitted to St. Nicholas.******* IN OUR NEXT EPISODE *******Join us as we discuss the 1931 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Alison's House by Susan Glaspell. From StageAgent.com: Susan Glaspell's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Alison's House, takes us to Iowa on the last day of the nineteenth century. The Stanhope family are preparing to say goodbye to their old homestead on the banks of the Mississippi but the house holds a lot of memories for each generation. Their sister and aunt, Alison, has been dead for eighteen years but her influence, both as a poet and a person, remains strong. Aunt Agatha is fiercely protective of her sister's reputation and legacy, but what is she hiding? When disgraced daughter Elsa returns home, old wounds are opened and it becomes clear that her scandalous relationship with a married man is not the first in the family. Like Elsa, Alison also fell deeply in love but, unlike her niece, she let her lover go and channeled her secret passions into her poetry. Unable to bring herself to burn the pages, Agatha finally relinquishes the poetry to Elsa and reveals Alison's secret.DeScriptedFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/DeScriptedPodTwitter: @DeScriptedPod - www.twitter.com/DeScriptedPodInstagram: @DeScriptedPod - www.instagram.com/DeScriptedPod

My grandmother, who I called Mee-Maw, bought Michael Marra's 13 Dead End Drive for me back in 1993 when it came out. I am not 100% sure why, but I am so glad she did. It is hard to believe that the game is 30 years old! That makes me even older.Anyway, 13 Dead End Dr got a lot of playing when I was young. My little sister, brother, and I played a lot of Clue, and this gave us a new mystery to solve, a new toy to play with. 13 Dead End Drive feels like Clue and Mouse Trap had a baby.In 13 Dead End Drive, rich Aunt Agatha has died with no related heirs. So, her 12 closest friends (and her cat) have gathered to claim her considerably large fortune. You and your opponents control a hand of the characters, vying to be rich. During the game, you are trying to knock off other1 characters to be the last one standing. Or, be the one featured above the fireplace when the detective arrives. Winning Moves

Greetings to your Ears and Eyes, Warning, there are a handful of deaths referenced in this work. Natural deaths due to old age, as well as unfortunate circumstances, but death nonetheless. Daniel Kasper PHD is with us in this episode to breakdown the nuances of Lucy Hardy's writing. Here is a story that breaks from the orthodox tradition of presenting cause and effect morality, and instead shifts the morals further into the background for a more personal interpretation. What morals did you pick up in your listening of this story? How outdated is this story? Does the conclusion make up for the less scrupulous phrases and ideologies used throughout? How rattled were you by the deaths and post-mortem scenarios we witnessed in this story? Do you think that George Smyhte is innocent as Aunt Agatha believes? Let us know on Podchaser, Instagram, or Twitter. The narration being done by the niece of the main character is atypical and seemingly unique to Lucy Hardy. The events, as narrated to us, are a telling of the narrator's life, their own experiences of another's life, the story of returning home to learn of the aunt's life in their absence, and finally, the telling of what was learned as the end of Aunt Agatha's Husband. This story skips out on the ghosts of the past, lurking around and the characters must appease them, or in some cases accept them and allow them to move on. However the suspense of the more sinister ending is always held over the reader, leaving us reading on to find how hard the shoe will land on the characters. Since the narrator is a witness, the protagonist is more of a surprise rather than the one one might expect. Enjoy the rest of your day! Josiah and Jesse dive in to easily the weirdest of the Olsen-twin filmography. With real magic, twins with identity crises, and a coven that is hell-bent on murdering children. Yep, it's one of those movies. Buckle up y'all. Make way for spells, witches, wizards and adventure! It's Halloween, the scariest, most fun event of fall. But for Lynn and Kelly Farmer, something scarier could happen. A slump in the family business means the Farmers will lose their home - unless the spirited twins find a way to save it! It's trick AND treat with remarkable real-life sisters Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen portraying the Farmer sisters in this heartwarming spooktacular. The trick: Aunt Sophia (Cloris Leachman), the Farmers' lone hope for a loan, is trapped inside an eerie neverland by her evil witch of a twin, Aunt Agatha (also Leachman). The treat: watching the girls turn the tables on Agatha by snatching her magical moonstone power source! Enjoy more excitement than you can shake a wand at, as the Farmers team up with a carefree hobo (Meschach Taylor) and other allies to break the spell on Aunt Sophia. So abracadabra, don't delay, load the disc, then push "play" for the most fantasmagical fun since Alice went to Wonderland and Dorothy went to Oz! ...Do you think God stays in heaven because He, too, lives in fear of what He's created here on earth? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/localmediaexperts/support

Actor, Jayne Eastwood joining the conversation on Cue To Cue Today!! What a blast I had with Jayne! She made me guffaw a few times during our conversation. Don’t be fooled! There are so many gems of wisdom hidden amongst the laughter and funny stories, Jayne has had a diversified career as an actor with much success and she is opening up about the ups and downs of it all and how she remains grounded through it all.   In this episode: How painting has served as another creative outlet and forces her to be present and in the moment What mantra she used to help her quit smoking after 50 years and the effect it has had on her vocal range How to accept rejection as a part of the game and why it is important to feel the feelings around being rejected. How “showing up” is the key to moving forward in your career as an artist. A little about Jayne: Jayne Eastwood, actor (born in Toronto). Jayne Eastwood was raised in Toronto, where she attended Northern Secondary School. It was in Toronto that she became a member of the cast of the musical Godspell, which played at the ROYAL ALEXANDRA THEATRE. The show ran from 1972-73 and Eastwood worked with cast members Martin SHORT, Andrea MARTIN, Gilda RADNER, and Eugene LEVY, and joined several of them in founding the Second City Theatre Troupe. Eastwood often appeared on Second City's creative offspring, SCTV, most memorably in the famous parody of GOIN' DOWN THE ROAD (her recurring line of dialogue is "I'm bummed out") with John CANDY and Joe FLAHERTY. Though Eastwood moves effortlessly from comedy to drama, comedy remains her magnetic north, drawing her to work with Women Fully Clothed, a group of performers nominated in 2005 for a CANADIAN COMEDY AWARD for best sketch troupe. From the early 1970s to the mid-1980s Eastwood appeared in stage productions of works by Michel TREMBLAY, Tom Stoppard, and Neil Simon, by such companies as Theatre in the Dell, Toronto Arts Productions, Centrestage Company, and Toronto Truck Theatre. She maintained a presence in both movies and television, working steadily in a variety of roles that began, in the 1980s, to include considerable voice work. One of her first television appearances was on the series That's Show Biz with Lorne MICHAELS and Hart and Earl Pomerantz, and she went on to become a regular on John Byner's show Bizarre from 1980 to 1985. In film, she played the president's wife in Al WAXMAN's sex comedy My Pleasure Is My Business (1975), appeared in the Robin SPRY film One Man (1977), had a small part in David CRONENBERG's Videodrome (1983) and did voice work for The Care Bears Movie (1985). She could be heard as the voice of Mrs Dingle and of Cookie and Joyce in the animated shows For Better or For Worse, and Bob and Margaret. In 1998 she won a GEMINI AWARD for best supporting actress in a drama for Dangerous Offender: the Marlene Moore Story. She played Aunt Agatha on the series Noddy and Friends, winning a 1999 Gemini Award for her work. Eastwood's film and TV appearances continued through the 1990s and into the new millennium, in works as varied as Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (2001), Chicago (2002) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). Eastwood has had parts in everything from stage productions of Marat/Sade to TV shows such as King of Kensington, Anne of Green Gables, and Riverdale, and in radio plays like CBC's Steve the Second. She is best known for her role as Betty, the pregnant wife abandoned by Joey in the canonical English-Canadian film Goin' down the Road (1970). Many viewers will recall her as the character Ronnie Sacks in the Canadian television series This Is Wonderland or as one of the regular characters in the partly improvised Train 48. She appears as Maxine Bingley in the series Billable Hours and plays a teacher in the movie Hairspray (2007), which was shot in Toronto. She has a recurring character part in the popular series Little Mosque n the Prarie, and reprised her Goin' down the Road role in the sequel, Down the Road Again (2011). In 2014 she was a guest star on Working the Engles alongside her old friend Andrea Martin.  She can be seen in the hit series Haven (2013-2014) as the recurring lead role of Gloria.  More recently Jayne worked with director Kenny ORTEGA on The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Orphan Black with Tatiana MASLANY. In 1999 Jayne Eastwood received the EARLE GREY AWARD for lifetime achievement and the recipient of the 2011 DAVE BROADFOOT AWARD at the CANADIAN COMEDY AWARDS. Eastwood is a talented and reliable actor who decided early on to remain in Toronto rather than leave for the limelight of the US. Her career is curiously and satisfyingly Canadian in that she has crafted a successful working life as an ensemble player in a variety of media while remaining in her own home town. Poldark   NOT THE FEEL GOOD EPISODE OF THE YEAR   A few observations:   Men Suck- except Dwight Enys who is a decent soul As women, we are our own worse enemies We need to work on our uppercuts. Fetch me the Brandywine is our new personal rallying cry.   Let’s start with the good stuff so we can work up a head of steam over Ross:   Good Stuff! Verity is having a baby!  Caroline returns Dwight’s letters. Please don’t ever write to again.  But we know, that is the oldest trick in the book. So Caroline will be back!  Aunt Agatha has an outstanding show!  The mail! Again, Cornwall seems to have the fastest mail in world Demelza’s right hook. Not a fan of violence but sock it to me, baby.    Bad Stuff   Almost 80% of the show was bad to worse to terrible   The mine collapse killing several men, including new dad Tinners show up. OMG! Elizabeth’s mother literally blows a gasket! Child birth at home- I needed a slug of that Brandywine to watch the scene Elizabeth—just Elizabeth. The whole show we were screaming at the TV every time she was in a scene. All the handwringing over “doing the right thing” Oh please, girl.  And Ross. Just Ross.

More of a Random thoughts this week:   Most of this episode was shot in the dark—or maybe I was sitting in the dark waiting for the election to be over, but here’s what I remember:   My heart is broken for Dwight the Good Doctor and Caroline, Cheeky Heiress. Doomed from the start—but I fell for it.    I think Ross and the boys there on Poldark are using some new hair products, because some great man hair this week. A lot of messy holds.   Aunt Agatha cracking wise about Ross. Bright spot.    Nobody does windswept like Demelza   Could Elizabeth be any more pathetic? Why on earth would the French Revoltution be an issue for Trenwith? Pull yourself together there, Buttercup.  And seriously. Maybe Ross isn’t calling on you because he has a wife, child and failing mine!!   It’s been almost two seasons, will  they ever find and copper? And why does Ross seem to have one stupid idea after another—as in,  I’m going to catcha  ride with these smugglers and then drink myself silly why you hold down the fort, the town, the family, okay, honey?    And who the heck was that hairy , hairy man? Oh, wife killer and mining savant Mark Daniel. I stopped caring about half way through that scene.    Big winner of the episode: Dwight Enys. I mean, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man. Sticking with his people, hunting down the snitch and then beating him down in a great man-fight, then building that bonfire on the bluff to save Ross.    Big Loser: Redcoats

Lian Dolan and Julie Dolan of the Satellite Sisters re-cap the PBS drama Poldark. This week: season 2, Episode 4. This episode had two personalities—loving and fun and forboding and tragic   Loving and fun:  Sassy talk between Demelza and Ross! Caroline returns in that red coat and Dr. Ennis goes for it! Even sad sack Francis gets a little action from Elizabeth   Foreboding and Tragic: Mining, fighting, smuggling and snitching.   Elizabeth decides to unload on Ross in some very inappropriate dinner party conversation. And for goodness sakes, Frances, why didn’t you learn to swim!!!   But first, I have a few questions:   Since when is Francis a magistrate? Is Captain Gilbert & Sullivan away on a ship?  Didn’t those red coats learn anything in the revolutionary war? Like buy some green coats? After that eye gauging beatdown convince George the Weasal to give up fighting for fencing?  Did it seem strange that Ross & Francis were holding hands during a dance?     Story lines:    Mining, fighting, smuggling and snitching. Blah, blah, blah.    Love is in the air: Caroline and Dr Ennis               Aunt Agatha and Verity              Aunt Agatha could be 60 or 160. She has a cough and sends for Verity, rather than a doctor because    Elizabeth the Vixen—now we hate her

WHO SHOULD YOU ASK   TO READ YOUR MANUSCRIPT? Feedback from “first readers” is extremely helpful. They generally aren’t professional editors. Some may be published writers and it is good for the group of first readers to also include readers who are not writers.  Like most things that involve someone’s opinion, however, there is a hitch. Morgan St. James, Dennis N. Griffin and Eric James Miller will delve into things that make an ideal first reader...and it isn't your Aunt Agatha who thinks everything you write is a masterpiece.
