SEASON 3 EPISODE 139: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: So we're going to do that whole Iraq crap again. Only swapping out the last letter. "Iran" instead of "Iraq." Because nobody remembers Bush and people think Trump is somehow anti-war, when he's doing all this because of his desperate FOMO that there is something somewhere on Fox News that he is not being given personal credit for. Only he's skipping the whole phony terrorism-9/11-pancake uranium-manufactured evidence dance and just saying "we're doing it to save Israel" even though the evangelicals who WANT to "save" Israel like Mike Huckabee really want just to make sure nobody but them destroys Israel, since the end of their prophecy is that when there are no Jews anywhere but Israel, there'll be a rapture, and all the Jews will convert or, you know, bye-bye. It's complete delusional snake-handling level religion. And as for the US military, the purpose of war with Iran would be the same as was the purpose of war with Iraq: to HAVE a war in which you can DESTROY B-2 Stealth Bombers and thus increase the Pentagon budget. As Big Jim McBob and Billy Sol Hurok would say: "Blowed 'em up good. Blowed 'em real good!" PLUS: Governor Hochul of New York uses the mot juste about what appears to have been a set-up of NYC Comptroller Brad Lander. ICE swings back towards seizing the people who keep the red states from starving. And those Trump American Phones are made in China. B-Block (32:50) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: CNN/MSNBC screw up the ratio of ICE protest coverage to No Kings protest coverage; Stephen Miller runs Trump but Katie Miller runs Stephen Miller; Karoline Leavitt inexplicably posts a photo of Trump wearing a dunce cap. C-Block (43:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: This week was the 25th anniversary of the day my mother became famous, and loved every moment of it, when she got hit in the face by a baseball thrown by the second baseman of the Yankees - while I was doing the highlights of that game on Fox's national game of the week telecast. SNL celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025 but we didn't start watching it until the 1990s. As Canadian kids with bedtimes in the 80s, we had more exposure to SCTV, the incredible sketch comedy show that featured an outrageously talented cast from Second City. Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, John Candy and Harold Ramis and later Rick Moranis and Martin Short on one show! In this episode, we reminisce with our good friend, Marcus J, and revisit our favourite movies featuring SCTV alumni. It's a beauty, eh!

Sophmoric, misogynistic, violent, and incredibly influential, this Canadian animated feature based on the science fiction magazine and featuring comedians from SCTV is equal parts terrible and awesome, and really brings out our inner teenage dirtbags. Also, we look at Richard Corben's original animated short Neverwhere, the basis for the comic book character Den and his segment of the film. Starring John Candy, Rodger Bumpass, Jackie Burroughs, Joe Flaherty, Don Francks, Eugene Levy, Alice Playten, Harold Ramis, and more. Written by Daniel Goldberg and Len Blum. Directed by Gerald Potterton. Based on original stories by Richard Corben, Angus McKie, Dan O'Bannon, and a really unimpressed and uncredited Jean "Moebius" Giraud.

Its Author-palooza continued this week as Chaz N Schatz spend time with The Sexiest Man in Podcasting, author, composer, drummer, and stunner, Scott K. Haskin, live from the strip in Las Vegas! Scott is a veritable renaissance man of the arts, this guy doesn't just wear multiple hats; he's practically a one-man band and literary powerhouse rolled into one. Many know Scott from his show Uriah Heep: The Magician's Podcast, and his many guest appearances on And The Podcast Will Rock, The Deep Purple Podcast, and The Ultimate Catalog Clash but today, we get to know more about Scott the artist, visionary and creator. From the 404 episodes of the haskincast to the hilariously observant What Happened In Vegas… book series, enquiring minds get to know more than they ever thought of the Sexiest Man in Podcasting – he's more than just a silky voice…  -       Dive deep into his 30 years of composing, his 30 albums and numerous film scores. -       Get the low-down and hear some of his Prog-Metal band Arapacis rock out. -       Go way back with Scott on Rush opening for Uriah Heep in 1975. -       Geek-out with heavy metal otamatone, the next genre Scott plans to dominate. -       Hear how to turn people watching into profit on the Vegas Strip (without having to show any leg!) -       Dig on how he came to discover he himself is two-degrees separated from Rush via Max Webster and his band Arapacis. -       Exposed as a man with a genuine guitar pedal fetish, and what it means to play with your Zoom. A true jack of all trades and master of many, Scott gets a track off 2007's Snakes and Arrows, the rollercoaster ride called Bravest Face. Join Chaz N Schatz as they sit with Scott through his first listen to this complex track, and wonder at his wonder in it all.  We name-drop all our usual suspects from rushvault.com, rushisaband.com and of course our wondiferous sponsor, Danforth & Pape. In the latest episode of The Food Professor podcast, we explore the heart of Canadian food industry insights, with a particular focus on innovation and heritage. The episode features James Crosby, President & CEO of Crosby Foods, a quintessential family-owned Canadian company from New Brunswick, and Lori King, who spearheads their innovation and marketing efforts. Crosby, representing the fifth generation of leadership within the company, discusses the evolution of Crosby Foods and its commitment to quality and innovation in a conversation that's far from slow - a playful nod to their flagship product's reputation. In the news, we talk about the significant disparity in Canadians' monthly food spending, which has dropped as an index from $339 to $248. The discussion unfolds around the contentious carbon tax open letter, debates the merits of the newly announced National School Food Program by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau—a $1 billion investment over five years aiming to provide meals to an additional 400,000 children—and touches upon the emerging trends in grocery, including Amazon's venture into the sector. The episode doesn't shy away from global challenges affecting the food industry, such as the bird flu outbreak in livestock and the rising popularity of butter as a simpler, healthier food ingredient amidst changing consumer preferences. It also discusses the financial implications of the surging prices of olive oil. This episode is dedicated to SCTV's Joe Flaherty, celebrating his iconic roles and significant cultural impact. Salute to SCTV's Joe Flahertyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnTjs0heRJohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPFAAGC0Jxo About JamesJames is the 5th generation of the Crosby family to serve as President of Crosby Foods Ltd. "The years hadn't softened Moronie. He continued to murder the English language, and anyone who got in his way. " 1982 may be The Year of Living Dangerously, but 1984 is most definitely the year of living Johnny Dangerously! This movie inhabits a special place in the realms of comedy, parody classics of the '80s. And the creative license taken on curse words has lived a quiet life of infamy in small groups of immature males for the last 39 years. Here's a roll call of how deep the cast runs. Michael Keaton, Joe Piscopo, Danny Devito, Marilu Henner, Maureen Stapleton, Peter Boyle, Griffin Dunne, Dom DeLuise, Glenno so Connor, Ray Walston, Alan Hale junior, Dick Butkus , Jack Nance, Bob Eubanks, Taylor Negron, and Joe Flaherty. You'll have to trust me that there are many more after reading that aggravatingly long list. Had to slip an adverb in here somehow.
