The man behind DownwithTyranny.com and the Blue America PAC is back today, as he is every Thursday. But today, Howie Klein is joined by the newest Blue-America endorsed candidate: Jessica Anderson, a former devout Christian conservative who's running as a Berniecrat! to be a Virginia House Delegate from District 71 this year.I'll begin the show with a serious question: Who the fuck is Alex Murdaugh, and why is his murder trial being broadcast live on MSNBC, CNN and a bunch of other channels too? And why isn't governor Death Sentence doing anything to protect this state from the anti-Semites and full blown Nazis who are harassing Jews all over the state?
An interview with Angel Montalvo, who's running for Congress in Miami on a Berniecrat platform, and down to lock horns with reactionaries in both parties This is an excerpt from District Sentinel Radio. To listen to the full episode, subscribe at Patreon.com/DistrictSentinel

Today we're joined by Sasha Perigo, a San Francisco based writer and all-around wealth of knowledge on California's complex, rough-and-tumble housing battles. We start with a discussion on AB 1436, a piece of proposed state legislation that would stave off the avalanche of evictions facing California renters. (If you want to help keep your neighbors housed, sign up here to have a letter sent in your name to your state senator.) Sasha then shares with us a very interesting Dem-on-Dem state senatorial race between Scott Wiener and Jackie Fielder. Wiener, the incumbent, is a classic California business-friendly Democrat who likes to fashion himself as a progressive, despite his personal political history. Fielder, an actual progressive who was once considered a long-shot in this race, has caught the attention of a Berniecrat movement searching for places to give its support. Finally, we touch on Uber and Lyft's outright refusal to comply with a new state law directing them to give their workers the rights and protections they deserve. Instead, the predatory tech behemoths have amassed $122 million with the help of DoorDash executives to push Prop 22, a ballot initiative that would relieve them of the onus of caring for their employees. Kentucky Governor’s mansion turns blue! Looks like Trump’s “Read the Transcripts” rally in Lexington on the eve of election day didn’t work out so well for the Republican incumbent. Before corporate Democrats join calls to “move to the center,” they would be wise to remember that the teacher strikes gave Democrats the Governor’s mansion, not some dishwater appeal to bipartisanship. Virginia goes Democrat from House to the Governor’s office. Gordon Sondland, Trump’s EU Ambassador, flips on his boss. The transcripts are scathing. And, Sondland wasn’t the only person that saw transcripts of their depositions released to the public. A giant “uh-oh” was heard coming from the general direction of the White House. Ayanna Presley endorses Elizabeth Warren for president. Is this a “split” in the Squad or evidence that progressives are beginning to deepen their roots in the Democratic Party? Nancy Pelosi goes to Bloomsberg News to say she’s not a fan of Medicare for All. That’s should be like a bat signal to all progressives that even if we win big in 2020, we’ll be in for a fight with the Democratic Party leadership. Another billionaire prepares to enter the presidential race as a Democratic hopeful. Yes, Michael Bloomberg will demonstrate to the world - just like Tom Steyer - how much money you can burn through to stroke your ego. Oh, yeah, and Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, is jumping in the race to get his old Senate seat in Alabama. Looks like the biggest threat to his seat will be...Trump. Trump said jokingly he’d move to Alabama to run against Sessions himself. Bill Fletcher, Jr. takes to the pages of In These Times to once again make the case for social justice unionism. In the wake of militant labor victories, business unionism still dominates the leadership of many small and large unions Oh, yeah, and public impeachment hearings begin next Wednesday and House Democrats are looking to a vote on impeachment before Christmas! Philadelphia votes a candidate from the Working Families Party to City Council. It’s the first time a candidate not from one of the major parties wins a seat on the council. Congrats to Kendra Brooks. Over half of Pennsylvania’s population now live in counties that are controlled by Democrats. Democrats swept every open seat in Delaware and Chester counties and then took control of Bucks, Lehigh and Monroe counties. Will these victories lead to a PA Dem Trifecta in 2020? Scranton gets its first-ever woman mayor! Paige Cognetti, who ran as a Berniecrat independent, won the special election for mayor last night. Her campaign slogan, “Paige Against the Machine,” will now bring progressive politics to NEPA. She cut her teeth writing a scathing report of corruption in Scranton’s school district for PA Auditor General Eugene Depasquale. APSCUF leadership begins its PR push to persuade members to vote in favor of the new contract next week. Many questions remain as to what APSCUF leadership’s embrace of the new PASSHE Chancellor and “interest-based bargaining” will mean for the organizational gains achieved as part of the union’s 2016 strike. Raging Chicken still awaiting the results of our Right to Know request about legionella bacteria found in multiple buildings across Kutztown University’s campus. Elon Musk makes the case that Space X’s new Starship could cost as little as $2 million per launch...way below the cost of even small rockets. Boeing trying to stay relevant in the race to get back to the moon. The Aerospace goliath presented NASA with a plan for a simplified “Human Lander System” (HLS) that will make use of the much delayed, still to be operational “Space Launch System.” The director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Army Lt. General Robert Ashley, painted a dark picture of near-future real space wars as Russia and China are rapidly developing weapons to be deployed in space. He made the remarks as part of his keynote speech at CyberSat 2019. Are we actually going to get a space hotel in the near future? The Gateway Foundation is making moves. Paco is joined by Bay Area comedian Hayley Beacon to recap the bizarro '70s kidnapping documentary Abducted In Plain Sight.*Trigger Warnings and Spoiler Alerts abound.*Jan Broberg said she was “groomed” by her kidnapper to believe UFOs and extra-terrestrial life were a plausible possibility. If truth is stranger than fiction it doesn’t get stranger than this hit true crime documentary Abducted In Plain Sight (originally released in 2017 as Forever B). On October 17, 1974, 12 year old Jan Broberg was kidnapped by her next-door neighbor and parents’ best friend B. Never trust someone that goes by a letter. Abducted In Plain Sight is a true story of the Brobergs; an Idaho family who fell under the spell of a sociopathic neighbor with his eyes set on their twelve-year-old daughter. Abducted has everything: desire, deceit, faith and forgiveness. Plus handjobs, aliens and the CIA. Their troubling admissions reveal epic failures and untold personal dramas that point to the biggest tragedy of all — that these crimes could have been prevented. Our guest is comedian Hayley Beacon. Hayley is a Bay Area native and has been a selected performer across the country at Pittsburg Comedy Festival, Blue Whale, Motor City Comedy Fest, SF Sketchfest and has been a guest on the Las Cultaristas podcast. The Senate race in California gives Republicans an opportunity to cast a protest vote for a Bernie-supported Democrat against the incumbent Senator Dianne Feinstein (D). Feinstein, who was first elected in 1992, faces State Senate Majority Leader Kevin de León, who has been pushing the race to the left. The Republicans have a hold on the statewide races in both Nevada and New Hampshire. Democrats have their eyes on the first district of New Hampshire in the race for an open seat between Chris Pappas (D) and Eddie Edwards (R). NV Statewide Results: Dean Heller (R-inc): 48% | Jacky Rosen (D): 41% Adam Laxalt (R): 46% | Steve Sisolak (D): 41% NH Statewide Results: Chris Sununu (R-inc): 51% | Molly Kelly (D): 35% ... Episode 46 of Boss Hog of Liberty is available now! Jeremiah Morrell and Dakota Davis are joined this week by Chase Peyton making his grand return in the fourth chair. Jeremiah went to the boys sectional game in New Castle and performed an undercover mission for this week's show. Dakota spent some time at Norris English Pub and even received a free glass! Our featured guest is Dave Ring. Dave is one of two Democrat candidates seeking nomination to run for the District 26 State Senate seat. From Albany, IN, Dave owns and operates The Downtown Farm Stand in Muncie, IN. Dave is a self-described “Berniecrat” meaning he sides heavily with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. We discuss the issues that Dave has faced running a campaign without money from special interest groups or corporations, and what it's like to run outside of the establishment. He feels the people of District 26 deserve choices and the guys could not agree more. Jeremiah and Dakota run through the list of issues that are on the Dave Ring website and the solutions he would propose. A lot of time was spent on CAFO's and furthering regulations, gerrymandering reform, CBD oil/medical marijuana, and the opioid epidemic. A conversation with Jeff Kurzon, a NY Berniecrat candidate, and his lawyer Josh Douglass, about a lawsuit that they have just filed in New York against the Democratic National Committee and the New York State Democratic Committee. The lawsuit contends that the Party's Charter, which the binding, legal contract between the Party and its members, is being violated by the superdelegates. Specifically, their argument is that a superdelegate's vote vastly outweighs that of the average citizen's, and that this contradicts the guiding principle--the heart--of the Democratic Party's Charter. It states that "we acknowledge that a political party which wishes to lead must listen to those who would lead, a party which asks for the people's trust must prove that it trusts the people...". The lawsuit contends that this is therefore - a breach of contract, and - violates Jeff's 14th Amendment right to equal protection, and - his right of freedom to associate. (The first two are clear to me, the third I'm not quite understanding yet.) The relief being sought is for the superdelegates to be forced to conform to the popular vote of their state. For example, if Bernie Sanders won a state by 70-30, then the superdelegates must also vote themselves in the same proportion. Josh and Jeff hope that other New Yorkers may get involved in this lawsuit, and that perhaps other people (cough Berniecrats cough) around the country mighty consider duplicating this lawsuit in their own states. What if this turned into massive class-action lawsuits in all 50 states and territories...? In the short-term, the hope is that this lawsuit would be publicized in both the press and on social media to voters in California. So they will not be deceived and discouraged by the media, when they incorrectly declare Hillary Clinton the Democratic nominee once the polls close in New Jersey--three hours before California voting is done. --- Jeff's blog post about the lawsuit: http://www.jeffkurzon.com/blog/2016/6/2/why-i-just-sued-the-dnc-and-the-nysdc The full complaint: http://www.jeffkurzon.com/s/SuperDelegate-Lawsuit-Kurzon-v-DNC.pdf --- From Josh Douglass: I have filed a lawsuit in the Southern District of New York against the DNC and the NYS Dems on behalf of Jeff Kurzon. Our claim is that the defendants are violating their own Charter by contunuing to implement the super delegate rule. The super delegates comprise fifteen percent of the overall delegation. Thus, an insurgent candidate such as Bernie Sanders starts out several delegates behind. This rule violates the DNC Charter, as is fully specified in our Complaint, in that the Charter speaks to the Party's guiding principle of listening to the people and following the will of the people. Rule 13 of the "Call to the Convention" further states that the delegation should be in keeping with the "preference of the primary voters." While the courts have held that the Party does have the right to freely associate and thereby establish its own rules...it does NOT have the right to violate its own Charter and, thereby, infringe upon the rights of its own members to freely associate with one another. We have requested a preliminary injunction from the court and are seeking a remedy which limits the power of the super delegates by having them be consistent with the popular vote in the state and have their votes limited to quarter votes or half votes or what have you in order to reach that end point.
A conversation with Jeff Kurzon, congressional Berniecrat candidate (Democrat) running in NY-7, which includes parts of Booklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. It is one of the more diverse districts in the state. This is the second time Jeff is running for this position, against the same incumbent. Last time he tried to "play the game" with aggressive fundraising. He raised around $100,000, compared to his opponent's $750,000. That's 13% of the funds, and he won 20% of the vote: 1800 people. 96% of his district didn't vote. This time, for the 2016 campaign, Jeff is not accepting fundraising at all. He's only using $5000 of his personal funds. He's not actively fundraising, he is out talking with and listening to his constituents. He didn't send out paid staff to collect signatures on his behalf (to get on the ballot), he and enthusiastic volunteers are personally collecting them. Real relationships. The people of NY-7 need to open their eyes to Jeff Kurzon. He needs your vote and your time, and NY-7--and all of us--deserve to have a Congress filled with people like him. Jeff is serving and listening to the people, not the big donors. http://jeffkurzon.com http://twitter.com/JeffKurzon
The original interview with Jeff that was lost by my phone-recording service, iOS TapeACall Pro, and just recovered today (so thankfully, it is back to being flawless, and kudos to them for the customer service). This was recorded May 23, a week before the second one. It is surprisingly complementary--not nearly as redundant as you might think. Thank you to Jeff and Julie for the patience through this process.
