Dr. Armitage discusses the evidence that is cited by evolutionists concerning the effect of iron in dinosaur blood and tissue.
Rebecca Armitage joins Carol Fitzgerald to discuss her debut novel, THE HEIR APPARENT, which was a Reese's Book Club pick and a Bookreporter Bets On selection. Rebecca describes the book as a modern-day fairy tale. Lexi, who is living in Tasmania and training to be a doctor, is summoned home after a skiing accident kills her father and critically injures her brother. Her grandmother is the Queen of England; she is the heir apparent and must return to London. Carol loved the cinematic opening scene with the helicopter landing to whisk Lexi away from her life in Australia. Rebecca drew upon her experience as a journalist covering the royal family to create an authentic portrayal of their lives. The story centers on Lexi's decision between duty to the crown and personal freedom, complicated by a secret that could prevent her from taking the throne. The relationships in the book highlight the sacrifices required by royal life and explore whether or not genuine connections can survive within the constraints of the monarchy. Rebecca discusses the Australian setting, particularly Tasmania, and its significance in the book. She shares that she moved to Tasmania during the pandemic and realized that it was the perfect place for Lexi's escape. There is a contrast between controlled palace life and Tasmania's wild, natural environment. What happens when a former military cop, existentialist philosopher, and Substack firebrand walks into a podcast? You get this riveting conversation between Corey and Christopher Armitage, who pulls no punches when it comes to democracy, resistance, and why “soft secession” might be the only sane response to creeping authoritarianism. Chris is a U.S. Air Force veteran, former law enforcement officer, prolific writer, and founder of The Existentialist Republic. From his early days in New Jersey wrestling circles to his transformation into an outspoken advocate for “soft secession,” Chris shares deeply personal reflections and bold policy ideas aimed at confronting rising authoritarianism in America. Through a mix of dark humor, philosophical grounding, and actionable insights, Chris breaks down: What “soft secession” really means (hint: it's not Civil War 2.0), How localism and economic independence can fortify democracy, What ICE agents, serotonin, and Friedrich Nietzsche have in common, And why writing with relentless truth might be the ultimate form of resistance. Surviving Triangulation in a Polarized World It's time to reckon with one of the toughest questions in our current public discourse: “How can you think that?” Through stories from his personal and professional life, host Corey Nathan unpacks the emotionally draining phenomenon of triangulation—when we're caught in the middle of opposing viewpoints—and explores how we can respond with curiosity and conviction without losing our sanity. From navigating impossible conversations to confronting conspiracy theories (like the FBI staging Jan. 6?!), Corey challenges listeners to stay in tough conversations while guarding their own well-being. Drawing inspiration from a powerful essay by Christopher Armitage on The Existentialist Republic, this episode dives into the psychology of belief, the cost of defection from "reality bubbles," and the quiet strength of one-degree influence. Whether you're a peacemaker, bridge-builder, or just trying to keep your sanity in polarized times, this one's for you.

After an extensive career in Hollywood and beyond as the star of blockbusters like The Hobbit and TV series like BBC's Spooks, Richard Armitage has pivoted. He's turned his hand to the written word, releasing his first novel ‘Geneva' in 2023, his second novel, ‘The Cut' released just this month. The story is inspired by a conversation he had in a cemetery, and the novel is unique in that it's designed to be an audiobook before a physical text. Writing for performance is slightly different to writing for reading, Armitage explained to Jack Tame. “The way I work on it is to visualise it as a piece of cinema or television, and then I write it down in a sort of visceral way.” “It's slightly more pared back,” he said. “And I'm kind of leaning into atmosphere.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Prime Minister Chris Luxon recently claimed he wants a constant flow of events to draw in international guests in order to stimulate the economy. This follows big names in the tourism sector, like Sudima Hotels, calling for further investment into major events. Eccles Entertainment founder Brent Eccles says the nation's major events fund has only covered sporting events, not concerts. "It's quite a long lead time to access the fund - and with contemporary music, you don't have that lead time, it's pretty hard and fast. So we'll never quite be able to qualify." Steve Armitage Hospitality NZ chief executive agrees extra funding is needed to bring more events to New Zealand. "There are a lot of other artists I think it'll be great to bring here - Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles... first class, international entertainment works well in a stadium." It's that time again for another (albeit slightly delayed) episode of Cast A Role, and this week the Mega Wheel presented us with one of Nicks films that he believes Jim should have watched by now. In this episode, we dive into Jordan Peele's Get Out (2017), the groundbreaking psychological horror film that blends suspense, satire, and razor-sharp social commentary. We break down the film's most memorable moments — from the chilling “Sunken Place” to the unsettling Armitage family — and explore how Peele redefined modern horror. Join us as we discuss Daniel Kaluuya's standout performance, the hidden symbolism woven throughout the story, and why Get Out remains one of the most talked-about films of the 2010s. Whether you're a horror fan, a film buff, or just curious about the meaning behind the movie's iconic imagery, this episode offers fresh insights and plenty to think about. As usual, not all of us were fully on board with this episode (we'll give you one guess as to who). Is this opinion Justified? Or that lost their minds from spending too much time with Mrs Armitage? The Government says it's letting shop owners take back control. It's proposing legislation to double maximum trespassing fines and allow trespassing people for three years, from multiple sites. Hospitality NZ's Steve Armitage told Mike Hosking the law's been outdated for some time. He says that when it was introduced back in 1980, a $1000 fine was much more material than it is 45 years later – according to the World Bank, the purchasing power of $1000 in 1980 equates to about $50,000 today.
