Brad's focus in Congress is combatting pervasively serious crime, building an environment for continued economic growth in North Carolina's 13th District and across the nation and defending against persistent threats to our country from within our own borders.Prior to serving in Congress, Brad proudly worked alongside law enforcement at all levels to prosecute organized crime in cases that touched every corner of the country. This included drug cartels, human trafficking, financial crimes, national gangs and more. From this experience, Brad saw how harmful policies and weak law enforcement wounded communities all over the country. This, in large part, motivated Brad to run for office.Brad looks to pull from his experience to support robust law enforcement while strengthening the laws to simultaneously disincentivize illegal immigration and protect Americans from all types of crime.Brad and his wife Joanna are both lifelong North Carolinians and have two daughters. The book is a call to Conservatives and Republicans to stand up, fight and win when faced with lies and mischaracterization. President Trump's first cabinet meeting caused another legacy media tailspin because Elon Musk was there and actually spoke at the meeting. His email to federal employees to name five things they did was also a "pulse check" to make sure these people are real and actually alive. In his first 30 days in office, President Trump has answered 1,009 questions from the media, making him the most accessible and transparent president in history. Karoline Leavitt is "seizing" control from the White House Correspondents Association and opening the White House to media outlets that would have never gotten the opportunity before. Pam Bondi has stated she will release the Epstein files tonight, making sure she protects the 250 victims in the documents she called "sickening." Is Joe Biden sabotaging Kamala Harris? Whether he is or he isn't, one thing is for sure, Joe Biden does not like half the country and its spreading like wildfire. X handles are being changed to "I'm garbage" and Trump voters will certainly be seen in trash bags in the streets tonight for Halloween. Trump emphatically declared checkmate when he got picked up in a garbage truck and wore a waste management vest during his rally in Wisconsin. The true difference between the Democrats, party of sloganeering and fear mongering, is that Trump actually likes the American people and wants the country to prosper. The Harris/Walz campaign took another L in their latest ad which insulted and demeaned women voters, our ladies give their reaction. In this powerful and deeply moving episode, Dave and co-host Jessica Anderson were joined by two of the most inspirational people we've met here in South Walton, Erica Spivey and Noelle Manesco from the Florida Foundation for Correctional Excellence (FFCE). We kicked off the conversation by reflecting on our visit to the Walton County Correctional Facility, where Jess and I attended a book club session with inmates. This visit was a transformative experience for both of us, offering a glimpse into the lives of these men who are working hard to change their paths and positively impact their communities upon release. The warm welcome we received and the openness of the inmates left a lasting impression on us. Erica and Noelle shared the mission of FFCE, which is to bridge the gap between the inside of correctional facilities and the outside world. They emphasize the importance of creating a supportive community for the 20,000 inmates who leave the Florida correctional system each year. Through various programs, including the potential upcoming podcast class at the Walton County Correctional Facility, FFCE aims to provide education, support, and opportunities for those reentering society. The discussion touched on the unique challenges faced by individuals upon release and the importance of reducing recidivism through community support. Noelle highlighted the idea that recidivism is not just a measure of an individual's failure but a reflection of the community's ability to support and reintegrate its members.” Erica shared a powerful story about an inmate who asked for just one person he could call upon release, underscoring the profound impact of personal connection and support. We also explored the innovative programs within correctional facilities, such as reentry dorms, faith and character dorms, and peer-to-peer support. These programs focus on character development, skill-building, and preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society. The importance of leadership and influence within the inmate population was a recurring theme, highlighting how individuals can transform their lives and positively impact others. In this episode, I am joined by screenwriter, actress, and director Jessica Anderson to discuss the horror filmmaking genre. We talk about classic horror films, modern horror films, and the tropes that have stood the test of time and which ones need to be retired. We also talk about her latest short film "Money Back Guarantee" that is currently in the film festival circuit, and her two feature-length screenplays that will soon be in production.
In this truly unique and extraordinary episode, we welcomed the spirit of the legendary aviator Jackie Cochran, brought to life by award-winning playwright and actress Nancy Hasty. My co-host, Jessica Anderson, and I embarked on an unprecedented journey as we interviewed Nancy in character as Jackie Cochran, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into the life of this remarkable woman. Our conversation began with Jackie sharing her early life in the poverty-stricken panhandle of Florida. She painted a vivid picture of her challenging childhood, filled with hardships that fueled her ambition to rise above her circumstances. Despite her difficult beginnings, Jackie's indomitable spirit and drive to succeed led her to the world of aviation, where she broke countless records and became a pioneer for women in the field. Jackie's recounting of her first flying experience was absolutely captivating! She described the moment she sat in a cockpit at Roosevelt Field, realizing instantly that she was born to fly. Her journey from a successful beauty business to becoming one of the most accomplished pilots in history is a testament to her incredible determination and talent. We delved into her relationships with other notable figures, including her close friendship with Amelia Earhart. Jackie's heartfelt and emotional recollection of Amelia's final flight and the subsequent search efforts underscored the deep bond they shared. Her anecdotes about Chuck Yeager, whom she mentored and regarded as a spiritual son, added another layer to her storied life. Jackie's role in founding and leading the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during World War II highlighted her dedication to empowering women and contributing to the war effort. She described the rigorous training and high standards she set for the women, emphasizing the importance of their role in aviation history. One of the most poignant moments of the interview was Jackie's reflection on her personal losses and regrets, including the death of her husband, Floyd, and her inability to continue flying due to health issues. Her passion for aviation and the freedom it brought her was evident throughout this incredible conversation from the grave. Stay updated on our upcoming documentary "The Flight of Jackie Cochran"
In this captivating episode, Dave and co-host Jessica Anderson had the honor of sitting down with the award-winning playwright, producer, and actress Nancy Hasty, and her acclaimed husband, Ray Halsnick. We were thrilled to delve into the incredible journey of Nancy's acclaimed play, "The Flight of Jackie Cochran." Our conversation began with the fascinating origin story of how Nancy was introduced to SOWAL House, thanks to our mutual friend Reynolds Henderson. Reynolds had been researching the remarkable aviator Jackie Cochran for years and felt compelled to share her story. This led to the introduction of Nancy, who had already been captivated by Jackie's story after learning about her through Ann Robinson, one of the founders of Grit and Grace. Nancy shared how she discovered Jackie Cochran and became inspired to write the play. Her deep connection with Jackie's life, from her humble beginnings to her record-breaking achievements in aviation, resonated profoundly with Nancy. She emphasized how Jackie's relentless drive and ambition, coupled with her complex personal history, made her a compelling subject for a play. Ray provided insights into their collaborative process, highlighting the countless hours spent researching and discussing Jackie's life. Nancy and Ray's dedication to authenticity and their shared commitment to bringing Jackie's story to life are evident in every aspect of the production. We also discussed the unique experience of performing the play at SOWAL House, where Nancy not only performed the play but also participated in a Q&A session in character as Jackie Cochran. The audience's engagement and the profound connections made during these sessions underscored the lasting impact of Jackie's story. Nancy's portrayal of Jackie has touched many lives, bringing to light the incredible achievements of a woman who deserves to be celebrated alongside other aviation pioneers like Amelia Earhart. Through her meticulous research and passionate performance, Nancy ensures that Jackie Cochran's legacy is remembered and honored. - Stay updated for our upcoming documentary "The Flight of Jackie Cochran”. Stay tuned for the next episode, where Jessica and I will be interviewing Nancy in character as Jackie Cochran. This promises to be an unforgettable conversation, offering even deeper insights into the life of this extraordinary woman.

IN THE NEWS:Souls to the Polls: Every jurisdiction in Virginia is required to offer voting for two Saturdays before election day. But Sunday is a different story. Registrars are allowed to schedule Sunday hours, but they're not required. House Democratic Leader Don Scott says he can understand smaller jurisdictions that are strapped for cash not having the resources to offer Sunday voting. But he says that does not explain Virginia's largest city, Virginia Beach, opting against Sunday voting this year even though they had it for the previous two years.PAC Attack: So far, Governor Youngkin hasn't been forking over big money for Senate candidates in toss up races. Instead he saved his largest contribution for a seat that leans Democratic in Henrico. Many people are wondering why the governor is spending almost a million dollars in this election instead of the toss up races.Early and Often: House District 71 includes James City County, Williamsburg and parts of New Kent County in the peninsula. It also has something special, the highest number of ballots cast so far. The race features incumbent Republican Delegate Amanda Batten and Democratic challenger Jessica Anderson--both of whom agree that 45 days of early voting is too much.TRIVIA: What year was Delegate Ken Plum's first campaign for office? Hint: He actually had two unsuccessful campaigns BEFORE he was elected. At the Watercooler:- Republicans are getting desperate in the race against Susanna Gibson--mailing flyers containing explicit images to voters in the 57th district. All the while, Delegate Matt Fariss is in court for an alleged hit-and-run- Alexandria politics are about to get upended with a vote on Zoning for Housing, Housing for All--a proposal to alter housing zoning laws and address equity issues.Learn more at http://linktr.ee/JacklegMedia
October 11, 2023Hello! This evening we welcomed Jessica Anderson, running for the Virginia House of Delegates, District 71, to The Parlour and we chatted with her about her campaign and upcoming election. Virginia holds off year elections, and this year all State Delegate and Senate Seats are up for grabs. Who is Jessica to US? During the pandemic, one of the few people Lori and Lisa separately appreciated on social media, came together over and have been ardent fans of, is Jessica Anderson ("Mother Runner" on Tiktok). It was not unusual for us, in the wee hours of the morning to share with one another Jessica's posts on Tiktok, and often refer to her content during our podcasts. Her clear, reasonable voice on all the topics we follow amazed us as we all seems to be on similar wavelengths regarding the body politic. Not only does Jessica's passion come through with her posts, but you get the distinct feeling she is definitely not going into politics for herself or the money. Her conviction for doing what is right and best for the people of Virginia's District 71, comes through in her willingness to connect with everyone including/especially those on the opposite side, and her common sense approach to everything from Second Amendment, Voting Rights, Reproduction Rights, Social Justice issues, and so much more!!! We are so lucky, and grateful, to share this time with Jessica and we hope you will enjoy hearing from her as much as we did! In this episode of the Mount Pleasant Podcast, host Brian Cleary sits down with the Head of the School, the Director of Enrollment, the School Psychologist, and 3 teachers at Mason Preparatory School. Jennifer Baker, Head of the School says Mason Prep is a K-8 Day School in downtown Charleston near the Charleston City Marina and they have many students from Mount Pleasant. Mason Preparatory School is a purposefully smaller school which allows the staff and teachers to really get to know their students and connect in a meaningful way. Yet they're large enough to have the sports, special areas, and activities you'd expect at a larger school. Mason Prep's school psychiatrist Dr. Jessica Anderson works with students and the staff to oversee the social emotional learning and well-being of the students. Jake Petty, Director of Enrollment talks about the Knight of the Day program which recognizes a student daily who displays the school's guiding principles of respect, kindness, and citizenship to get nominated for random acts of kindness. Jake also says if you are interested in getting in touch or finding out more about Mason Prep you can check out fun videos, find Jake's contact info, see what they're doing in the classroom at https://www.masonprep.org/ and you can also arrange to tour the school if you're interested.
If you care about democracy in America, then you care about the upcoming election in Virginia this November. And before you think yeah, I don't live in Virginia, I'll think I'll skip it, I want you to think about the Wisconsin Supreme Court race in April, or the Ohio special election this August. Most of us don't live in those states, but our attention on those elections, and their successful results, put the Republicans and their increasingly extremist agenda, on notice. So today we're going to talk to two Virginia candidates: Senate Candidate, and current House Delegate, Danica Roem, and social media star and now House Delegate Jessica Anderson. Virginia is THE most important race in the country right now. The next big election to WIN. It's the opportunity to give the Republican Party and their abortion restricting, book banning, voter suppressing, soft supremacy the double middle finger and say not this time, not on our watch.
