Christianity has been present in China since the 7th century—long before the arrival of Jesuit or Seventh-day Adventist missionaries. Yet for much of Chinese history, social norms meant women lived relatively private lives, interacting mostly with one another. “When I was reading Chinese Christian history,” guest Dr. Susangeline Patrick recalls, “I didn't initially see a lot of women's stories.” And yet today, women are the backbone of China's Christian movement—serving as pastors, leaders, and patrons. So what changed? In this two-part series, we explore the surprising origins and growth of Christianity the 16th and 17th century China and the role women played in it.  This is Part 1 of a two-part series on Christian Women in China.   Guests: Dr. Joseph Lee and Dr. Susangeline Patrick. A young woman of the Levite tribe is brutally murdered in the area of the Benjaminites. Her body is cut into twelve pieces and sent to the heads of the twelve tribes of Israel. Eleven tribes war against the tribe of Benjamin. All the women and children are killed with unrighteousness actions and results and blame God for the situation! What went wrong: God was supposed to be king, but not in the eyes of the Israelites. Points for home Is God your King? I hate sin! How are you treating those on the edges of society? Listen to Mark teach the challenges of culture and timing when understanding stories of the Bible. He shares the status and meaning of a pilegesh or what has been translated in English as concubine during the times of Judges. It's easy to focus on the empty tomb, the angel, Jesus calming their fear. It's the story of Jesus coming back to life! It's easy to miss what prompted this group of women (none of the twelve disciples btw) to go to the tomb.Their teacher had been crucified. The One they'd followed was unfastened from a shameful cross and laid in a tomb; his body, lifeless. The Advocate who had protected Mary after she had broken an expensive jar of perfume. The Son, The Messiah who birthed him and raised him. The Savior who had cast out seven demons from Mary Magdelene. The Man who'd understood them unlike anyone they'd ever known was gone.  And now, it was Sunday. Why did they go? //If you would like to dive deeper into this, or other verses in the Bible, if you have a verse you would like to submit to have included in a future episode if have questions about the Bible that you would like answered in a bonus episode, or simply want to connect with me... text VERSED to 58228or click hereAlso included in that link is a list of resources and references I use in this podcast and can help you grow deeper in your faith as well. As always – ratings and reviews are massive! Q&A #226 - Jeremiah repeats, sex rules from the bible, women protecting and morePastors answer the following questionsu. I've been going to this church for 14 years and I've witnessed several times when it felt like a large part of the congregation left. This last year it feels there has been a lot of offence taken and hurt feelings and families leaving for multiple reasons. I have a lot of mixed emotions every time this happens. I have a few questions. My questions are not to blame or cause even more division. I am seeking wisdom and clarity to help process the feelings and thoughts I have on this experience. First what are your thoughts on why this happens? When I talk to families who leave, seemingly some of the decisions to leave are tied to people feeling hurt by the leadership of our church. What are you thoughts on that? I understand that the leadership of our church are people who are learning to follow God the best they can and obviously can't be expected to be perfect. What accountability and relationships do each of you have in your life to help you handle the difficult conflicts that arise between you and members of our church so that you have wise counsel in handling the conflict the way God would want you to? Again my questions are from a broken heart and I'm just trying to understand, not trying to cause any damage. v. Jeremiah 17:8 essentially says the same thing as Psalm 1:3. The first is attributed to God (speaking to Jeremiah), and yet it comes centuries after David and Solomon, the two that scholars say may have written Psalm 1. Is the Lord reminding everyone of that psalm of old? Is it possible the psalm is of Jeremiah's time? Or did God just give this visual twice?w. In much of Christian culture we talk about sex needing to be within marriage and I'm wondering where this comes from biblically. There doesn't seem to be any explicit verses that say”you must be married before you have sex.” There is a lot of wisdom in waiting, but I don't see where it is a command and then a sin if you do have sex outside of marriage. Do you think the church has moved too far on this?x. I am wondering how your Christmas ornaments are hung. Everything I put up seems to fall to the floor sometime in the night. Thank you.y. On a more serious note, what does Jeremiah 31:22b mean when it says “The Lord will create a new thing on earth— the woman will protect the man.”Ask your own question:https://livingsprings.wufoo.com/forms/s1oc9ua01mh36mq/

She could have confirmed that he'd been blind and then sought for herself to determine how this amazing thing could have transpired. Instead, she denied having a clue what happened and left her son to defend himself. And why did she do this? Because the Jews had agreed that if anyone confessed that Jesus was the Christ, they would be kicked out of the synagogue, and she didn't want to take that risk. All God's Women is a Bible study podcast  and syndicated radio show where we journey through the Bible one woman at a time. In today's story of The Adulteress Woman, we meet a woman caught in the act of sin who waited when she could have escaped. We meet the Adulteress in John chapter 8, but in order for us to fully appreciate her story, we need to understand the time period in which it takes place. Tension was building up. Jesus was at the Feast of Tabernacles saying things people didn't understand. None of it made sense. Many were rejecting Him. The rulers were seeking an opportunity to bring Him in for questioning, but they didn't have just cause. It was a time of confusion and chaos. No one knew what to think. Frustrated, they waited for the opportunity to arise to get rid of Jesus so they could go back to their status quo. John chapter 7 closes with, “everyone went to his own house.”Then chapter 8 opens with, “But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.”Please take a moment to vote for All God's Women  as "Best Female Hosted Show" in the Spark Media People's Choice awards. We've had several months of feel-good stories, of women in desperate situations who were redeemed by the love and mercy of Jesus. Today's story is not so pretty. We look at Herodias, a vile woman consumed with power and prestige, willing to go down whatever slippery slope it took to get what she wanted. We find Herodias mentioned in Matthew 14, Mark 6, and Luke 3. The gospel writers spent as little time as possible on her story, only mentioning her as a flashback or side note to explain what happened to John the Baptist. So who was Herodias? She was the granddaughter of Herod the Great. He was the Herod who had all the baby boys killed when he heard from the wise men that a king had been born in Bethlehem. As he aged, he grew more crazed and murdered his wife and three of his sons. This was the family she was born into. All God's Women is a Bible study podcast  and syndicated radio show where we journey through the Bible one woman at a time. Ladies, can you imagine if your husband came home one afternoon and announced that he'd been talking to God and God told him there was going to be a great flood, so he needed to start building a giant boat to get ready? Oh, and by the way, at least two of every species of animal would be joining you in the boat. “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.”The Bible doesn't tell us Mrs. Noah's reaction, but the fact that it doesn't tell us, says a lot. I'm pretty sure that had she resisted, the story would have gone differently. But Noah was a righteous man, and so was his nameless wife. All God's Women is a Bible study podcast  and syndicated radio show where we journey through the Bible one woman at a time. Today we look at a women who wasn't supposed to get near other people, and she certainly wasn't supposed to touch them, but she did, and oh, the difference it made.Matthew, Mark, and Luke each tell the story of this New Testament Bible woman who'd had an issue of blood for twelve years. Like the Widow of Nain, the Bleeding Woman was a bonus healing. Each happened when Jesus was on His way to heal someone else. In this case, Jairus, a synagogue leader, approached Jesus to lay His hands on Jairus' daughter who was at the hands of death. Jesus followed Jairus to his home, and along the way, a great multitude followed and thronged Him. In that crowd was a woman who'd been bleeding for twelve years. She'd spent all her money on doctors and cures, but rather than healing her, they'd left her broke and in worse condition. The unnamed woman heard about Jesus and reasoned that if she could just get close enough to Jesus to touch his clothes, that she could be healed. So that's what she did. She made her way through the masses, and when she got near, she reached out and touched the tassel on his cloak. And just as she thought, immediately, her blood dried up and she sensed that she'd been healed. Jesus sensed it, too.All God's Women is a Bible study podcast  and syndicated radio show where we journey through the Bible one woman at a time.
