In today's episode, I sit down with Dr Thomas Cowan - one of the most influential and controversial voices in holistic medicine. Known for challenging conventional ideas about contagion, water, and even the root cause of heart attacks and stroke, Dr Cowan brings a depth of wisdom that invites us to question everything we thought we knew about health. We explore what led him to break away from the mainstream narrative, why he believes germs aren't the enemy, what "healthy water" actually is, and the tools he uses to help the body and environment thrive. He also shares a radically different view of heart attacks and strokes, the daily practices he recommends for true heart health, and the surprising amount of water we really need. Get ready to have your mind blown by one of the most exciting frontiers in health science. In this episode of the Not Your Mother's Menopause Podcast, I'm sitting down with the incredibly knowledgeable Kyal Van Der Leest, an Australian Nutritionist and Naturopath who is truly pioneering the future of wellness. If you've heard the term "peptides" buzzing around but aren't quite sure what they are or how they could revolutionize your health, especially during the hormonal shifts of menopause, this conversation is your essential guide. We dive deep into the fascinating world of peptides, explaining them not as foreign chemicals, but as the body's own innate messengers that speak its language fluently. Kyal masterfully breaks down how these powerful chains of amino acids act as targeted instructions for healing, regeneration, and repair in a way that traditional supplements and pharmaceuticals simply can't. The conversation gets particularly illuminating as we explore the profound gut-brain connection and how a specific peptide can actually block zonulin—the very protein responsible for creating leaky gut—offering a revolutionary approach to sealing a permeable gut lining. We also discuss why these are often short-term, interventional tools designed to restore your body's foundation so you can thrive long after you've stopped taking them. This is a masterclass in cutting-edge, holistic health that you won't want to miss. You can find out more about LVLUP Health and Kyal here. Thank you to our sponsors for this episode:

In this luminous episode, Jennifer Urezzio sits with Dr. Lynn Anderson — naturopath, yoga & nutrition therapist, author, and longtime teacher — to explore how to outsmart your karma for prosperity. Dr. Lynn reframes karma away from moral judgment and into a clear, usable principle: cause and effect. She offers a practical prosperity map through the four gifts of Lakshmi — wealth, pleasure, harmony, and liberation — and reminds listeners that “wealth” can be anything that enriches you (health, voice, artistry), not only money. The conversation names the four great passions that trip us up — deceit, greed, anger, and pride — and centers awareness as the first, essential practice for transformation. Dr. Lynn and Jennifer walk listeners through embodied tools: cultivating internal dialogue with the soul, practicing breath and presence to step out of reactivity, using yoga and sensation to build awareness, and practicing trust as a lived muscle. Throughout, the invitation is to observe rather than judge, to convert thinking → speaking → doing into conscious karma, and to allow small daily acts to compound into real prosperity. Practical takeaways: Redefine prosperity daily by adding small acts of wealth, pleasure, harmony, and liberation. Notice bodily signals (anger, tightness) as the doorway to awareness — breathe, observe, release. Replace deceit with truth: start with honest internal dialogue and consistent small choices. Treat trust like a practice: build resilience from the inside so you can navigate the outer world. Learn more about Doctor Lynn at http://www.doctorlynn.com. In 2022, Jeff Stewart was preparing to donate a kidney when his life took a completely different turn. Unknown to him at the time, he was harboring two separate cancers—kidney and stomach. As a former Jeopardy champ, long-time molecular biologist, and inventor, it's no surprise that Jeff instinctively framed his relationship with cancer as a complex puzzle that needed solving. In this heartfelt interview with Dr. Sherman, Jeff shares the insights he has gained over the years. He also discusses his published memoir, Living: Inspiration from a Father with Cancer. Written with his seven children in mind, Living offers advice and inspiration for everyone, regardless of age. He also touches on his love of writing itself, having just completed his upcoming young adult fantasy book, Angel Chloe and the Wall of Stone and Bone. Jeff passed away in August 2025, yet his wisdom, humor, and legacy live on to inspire us, just as he intended.Hope for Stomach Cancer support group mentioned by JeffBuy his book, Living: Inspiration from a Father with Cancer, from our bookshop.org collectionNPR piece by Jeff on experimental therapies Tell us your thoughts on this episode!Support the showBecome a member of The Cancer Pod Community! Vibing Well with Dr. Stacy (A Functional Medicine Approach to Healing)
What if I told you this generation of children is the first not expected to outlive their parents? Despite unprecedented medical advances, chronic disease rates in children have skyrocketed by 400%. As a Naturopath and mother, this reality keeps me up at night. The perfect storm has been brewing: from compromised birth experiences to excessive sugar consumption, from constant screen time to environmental toxins. Our children's bodies are sending distress signals through anxiety, behavioral issues, frequent infections, and metabolic dysfunction. Yet we've normalized these conditions as "just part of childhood."The digital landscape compounds these challenges. Children spend 5-7 hours daily on screens, receiving artificial dopamine hits that make normal pleasures seem insufficient. Blue light disrupts their sleep patterns and melatonin production, essential for cellular repair and immune function. No wonder 76% of children now have at least one chronic condition. But there's profound hope. Our children are remarkably resilient when given what their bodies truly need: real food, consistent movement, outdoor time, appropriate boundaries, and proper sleep. By making intentional choices and modeling healthy behaviors, we can change their trajectory. This isn't about perfection—it's about progress. Start with one home-cooked meal, a family walk, or a new vegetable. Frame these choices as gifts rather than restrictions. When children understand how their bodies respond to different inputs, they naturally gravitate toward what makes them feel good.True generational wealth isn't found in bank accounts but in the vibrant health we cultivate in our children. What small change will you make today to support your child's metabolic health? Your choices now shape their future.Join Dr. Stacy's Master Your Metabolism class in October to learn how to support you and your family's metabolic healthCGM (Code DRSTACY for 33% off!) Is burnout just part of motherhood? In this conversation with naturopath and nutritionist Cassie Davenport, we dive into the impossible equation of trying to do it all. The pressure, exhaustion, and the toll it takes. We talk about what burnout really looks like beyond “just being tired,” from numbing out and snapping to the way it can impact your cycle, your mood, and your energy. Cassie brings her evidence-based yet practical approach, showing how small, sustainable changes can make a big impact when you’re running on empty.
