As a second round draft pick in 1995 for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Bryan was living his dream of moving off the farm and making a name for himself. Although his successful NFL career gave him power, prestige, and popularity, his unprocessed hurt and pain manifested in a near breakdown on the golf course and his pregnant wife gave him an ultimatum - go to a team Bible Study. That night, the spirit of God moved so mightily in Bryan that it changed the trajectory of his life and set him on a path to fight Worthy Opponents, not just in the NFL, but as a Chaplain for the Colorado Rockies baseball team, as a Pastor, as a professional coach for high level leaders, and in his family with his wife and 7 children. Hear how Bryan's book of the same title “Worthy Opponents” encourages us to see challenges as not only opportunities for growth & transformation, but ways for us to grow in intimacy with Father God. This interview gives a glimpse into God's longsuffering and depth of his love for us as his children and will leave you encouraged to not grow weary in this hour but to embrace the superior reality of his kingdom and your unique role in it. Listen as we discuss generational iniquities, changes in the corporate church, spiritual warfare, transhumanism and how knowing that we are born of a different age gives us authority to leverage God's economy and operating system to usher in His kingdom here on Earth. “Worthy Opponents” Book link https://a.co/d/b7p6Dp8 https://www.linkedin.com/in/bryanschwartz58/ https://www.facebook.com/bryan.schwartz.771/ X: BryanSchwartz58 IG: @blschwartz

Why is facing challenges and trials in faith crucial for character building?Bryan Schwartz, a former NFL linebacker for the Jacksonville Jaguars and current leadership mentor, underwent a significant transformation through his faith journey. Born and raised in St. Lawrence, South Dakota, his faith journey started during his rookie season in the NFL under the influence of his teammate Mark Brunell, which led him to immerse himself in Christianity and embark on a path of self-discovery and spiritual growth. His unique perspective on faith, as detailed in his book "Worthy Opponents," was largely shaped by his personal struggles and battles. Schwartz found a connection to Christ's perspective and the idea that Jesus came not just for us but as us, emphasizing the importance of aligning oneself with the word of God. He views his faith journey as one marked by confronting challenges, understanding that tests and trials can serve as opportunities for growth and development under a faithful savior. This journey has been one of transformation, redemption, and finding strength amid turmoil.By facing challenges, embracing breakthrough moments, and understanding the enormity of God, Brian has emerged stronger, more resilient, and deeply connected to his faith.TakeawaysFaith and community have a significant impact on navigating life's challenges and reshaping relationships.Group conversion experiences can lead to transformative journeys of spiritual growth and discipleship.Sanctification and growth in faith are essential in the Christian journey, emphasizing continuous development and perseverance.Breakthrough moments can bring positive change by aligning mindset, skill set, and kingdom principles.Understanding the enormity of God can strengthen individuals to face challenges with faith and resilience.Facing challenges and trials in faith is crucial for building perseverance, character, and hope.Discipleship and Kingdom Impact principles are key in coaching and ministry work to empower individuals for making a difference and bearing fruit.Quotes"I'm so grateful I got to grow up there and I was grateful to be able to get out of there." - Bryan Schwartz" - Bryan Schwartz"Bryan Schwartz (00:08:09): Yeah, no, it was really cool because we all. We're all radicals, right? Like, aw, Tozer wrote an article called the size of the soul. And his whole point was, the size of your soul before Christ is still the same size after you meet Christ. He just repurposes it. And so we were all these radicals, and we were radical in our rebellion, and we became just as radical in our righteousness." - Rylee Meek"For those listening, Brian's written a book called Worthy Opponents. If you're on YouTube, I'm holding this bad boy right now. It's how God uses opposition, enemies, and adversity for your growth in good." - Rylee Meek"When we truly grasp the enormity of our God, our perspective changes. Our mountains become molehills; our tempests become ripples." - Rylee Meek"Pressure produces perseverance. And then he says, perseverance leads to proven character. Now, if I'm a boss, if I'm a CEO, if I'm a parent, right? And I know that, um, trials produce perseverance, and they produce proven character, why would I want to shelter those I'm leading from that? Or why would I want to run from that in my own life, right? Because it's producing something." - Bryan SchwartzConnect with BryanX: @BryanSchwartz58Facebook:

Over 110,000 protestors packed Tel Aviv's city centre, in one of the country's largest anti-government protests in the past decade. They were rallying against the newly elected, right-wing government's proposals to overhaul the Israeli judicial system. The reforms, introduced by Justice Minister Yariv Levin, could shift a significant amount of power from the courts to the legislature and preclude any law passed by the Knesset from being challenged in Israel's High Court. These changes are designed, according to Levin, to rein in an activist court that for too long has subverted the democratic will of the Israeli electorate. Some say shifting more power to elected representatives clearly enhances Israel's democratic character. Others argue that these changes would spell the end of the inalienable rights underpinning Zionism and the idea of Israel as a modern, liberal democracy. Our guest today sees several parallels to our own constitutional process and has written about proposed solutions. Bryan Schwartz is a lawyer and law professor at the University of Manitoba Law School. He has argued cases before the Supreme Court of Canada and has taught Canadian and Israeli law to students at the Hebrew University in Israel. Later in the show, Avi and Phoebe discuss an interview with Taffy Brodesser-Akner, the creator of the 2022 hit TV show Fleischman Is in Trouble, and based on her 2019 novel of the same name. To the surprise of some readers, Brodesser-Akner said that she doesn't actually see the work as particularly Jewish, despite the clear Jewishness of the setting and main characters. This leads our hosts to dig into what makes a TV show Jewish at all? Is any show with Jewish characters a Jewish show—or is there more to it?
