Facing Failure: Taking Ownership of the Little Mistakes in Our Lives    Failure is a part of life. It sucks to hear that, but it's true. Any journey, any path, any goal you're trying to reach will often be met with failure. But more often than not, we're not afraid of what that failure may bring, but rather, we're afraid of failure itself. Fear keeps so many stuck, immobilized, unfulfilled, hopeless, thinking “What if we fail? What if it doesn't work?”    In today's episode, let's shine the light on this sinister enemy. Lurking in the shadows of every dream pursuit failure does it's best to keep us stationary. Yet, you will discover today that simply shining the light on failure, owning it, takes away its power and puts power back into our hands!   BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING, YOU'LL LEARN:    What can happen to us if we succumb to the fear of failure, and how the inaction and stagnation that often comes with that fear keeps us from pursuing our dream.   How you can take failure and use it to your own personal growth by learning from these falls so we can rise so much higher. Taking ownership of our failure and using it as a stepladder to success will get us so much farther than we think. We all fail, but no one is a failure.   What the Way of Jesus can teach us on what to do in the face of failure, and how even the most virtuous people are going to face challenges that may hold them back, and yet they're still remembered today. Not only does pharaoh reject Moses' call to let the Israelites go, the Israelites themselves start to turn on Moses as they are faced with harsher working conditions. Oftentimes, carrying out God's call on our lives does not go smoothly. But what appears to be "failure" is actually fruitful action as God works through our faithfulness. If we want to faithfully follow through with God's call even in the face of failure, we need to turn our face to God.

Failure comes in all shapes and sizes. Governments fail. Politicians fail. Banks fail. Churches fail. People fail. And if we dwell on our failures, the narrative shifts in a critical way…it's not that we failed at a task or assignment…it's that we ARE a failure. And all of the sudden, we're in shame territory. Shame anchors us to our worst moments - something we've experienced, done, or failed to do - and says, “THIS…this ugliness, this failure makes you unworthy of connection.” Left alone, shame will destroy us. In our passage this week, Peter faces a moment of failure when he denies Jesus three times. And he could have chosen to hide from his shame. But instead he stayed. And jumped out of the boat to be restored with his risen Lord. Join us as we consider how we too can leap out of the boat and be restored to healing and to freedom.

It was early January. The sun was out. Or maybe it was raining? It was brisk, but not too much in Southern California. I had just begun the year with a new mantra and zest for life. And then it all dropped out from under me. I hit a business failure. A big, floppity flop. Oof. It was not fun, my friend. It took my soul some time to heal and move forward. I truly wondered if this was the "fail" that would tank me. Was this the one that would stop my momentum? That would cause me to throw in the towel of my business? Was I doomed to fail forever? (I'm a Cancer, so my emotions are very strong). Spoiler alert: No I was not doomed. I found a way to move forward with new zest. To hear the steps I took and how you can apply them to yourself next time you face a "fail" moment in your writing career,—which will happen because we all deal with failure when we are trying to do big things—listen to the full podcast episode. FACING FAILURE WITH FAITH (Hebrews 11:32) If God were to grade your faith today, would you get an A? A-plus? C-minus?  There was a student who came to the professor and he said, “Professor, I don't believe I deserve this F.” The professor said, “Neither do I, but it was the lowest grade I had.”  Now, is that the kind of faith you have? What kind of a report card would God give you today if God had to measure you? The Bibe says that our faith is important because it is absolutely impossible to please God without faith.  So, if you want to get an A from God on your report card, then you must have faith, and not just any faith, but a hall of fame type of faith.  The champion that we will look at today is Samson, and the title of our message is “Facing Failure With Faith.” So, let me ask, do you feel like a failure? Do you feel like you've failed the Lord, and to be quite honest about it, you feel like you don't even deserve a second chance? Then this message is just for you because Samson was indeed a failure.  However, in spite of what Samson did, God is the God of the second chance. Samson had enough faith to know that even though he was a failure and a disgrace, and that he'd failed and shamed God, that God still loved him and would remember him when he came in repentance and faith.  Now, you may be someone who has failed and you've failed so much. But I'm here as a messenger of God today to tell you God loves you, and the same God that blessed ole Samson, loves you. Here was a man, though he failed, he learned to face his failure with faith. Aren't you glad that we serve such a God? And aren't you glad that 1 John 1:9 is in the Bible: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  Download this message to hear how God wants you to face your failures with faith. The wins and some of the failures… and how each has taught me and brought me right where I need to be. As for the year to come… Next Level Nutrition is accepting applications for 2023!!! We will kick off the third week of January. I launched this LIVE coaching mastermind in the fall of 2022 and it was incredible. If you are someone that feels like you have a pretty good grip on empowered eating and are ready for the next step… Next Level Nutrition is what you are looking for! I designed this program because after I healed my relationship with food… I found myself wanting to be healthier but now sure how to do it. I didn't know what was obsessive or if new goals would trigger old thoughts in my head.  This is why I designed Next Level Nutrition. I believe you can advance your health without going back to obsessive eating. I know you can take your health to the next level without taking steps backward. I am stoked to offer this program again. We have 10 weeks of nutrition education, accountability, and customized nutrition support all of which I am there with you LIVE in real-time. Applications are now being accepted here. See you next year, friends! Cheers, and happy eating!  Jess

Facing failure is one of the most daunting yet challenging inner struggles an individual has to address throughout their lifespan. No one attempts to complete a task, project or goal with the intentions to fail. The Struggles of being a college student comes with both risk and rewards. While my overall experience at University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) has been great with supportive resources and professors. The struggled has also presented me with the opportunity to strengthen and develop resiliency, patience, communication skills and a growth mindset. Working full-time, trying to balance 4 children, being a wife and very involved in my community and my church. Not to mention the health challenges that arise suddenly without notice. The Struggles.of a College Student puts a person in a situation where embracing their current reality is paramount in order to face failure without becoming so overwhelm that they quit. However, it is very possible to ride the wave of failure without drowning when you face your failure with faith. Faith offers additional perspectives that can help with shifting one from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. Sharing this personal story has motivated me to do an entire series on The Struggles of a College Student.
