SHEMA HaDAVAR (Hear the Word) by Reggie Lisemby, Executive Servant of Messianic Ministry to Israel
Resurrection Sunday is the Feast of FirstFruits, not Easter, a pagan title from Ishtar, the goddess of love and war (thus, the eggs, the bunny). After His death, Yeshua visited and preached His Gospel to the netherworld. They trembled when they heard! His resurrection is our resurrection. Our names were/are written in the Lamb's Book of Life, from the foundation of the world. As Mattityahu and Luqas gave the genealogy of Yeshua, His lineage and His descent, we who are Chosen in Him are in the genealogical records of Yeshua, called the Book of Chayim or Life, for we were born of Him! We have descended from Him!

A niche has been carved out that resonates with many on the wide spectrum of Observant Jews. This explains why we continually rank high in independent on-line lists of top Yeshiva podcasts. This proud edifice is in real danger of toppling and disappearing. We need the help of our listeners to continue to record and edit, and to promote a product that has been a balm and instructive to so many. Just 36 dollars, a minimum donation, from a thousand of you out there will keep us afloat as a New Ark of straight, intelligent, and humorous discussion, lectures, debate and inquiry - while the destructive waters of ignorance and politics crash around us. Scripture calls us to praise God according to His name, and this week we look at Elohim Chayim for a powerful reminder that God is the Living God. How should this name of God lead us to praise Him and strengthen us for our own lives?

God is the Living God who sustains and brings forth life within us. In this study, Nathan examines an amazing series of God's names that point to life and what God has done within us through the Cross of Christ. Throughout the message, you will be freshly encouraged and reminded that you are chosen by God, not an accident, and therefore God created you with a purpose to demonstrate and declare His life through your own.------------For more information about Daily Thunder and the ministry of Ellerslie Mission Society, please visit: https://ellerslie.com/. We're talking mental health this week with Chayim Newman and Zack Borer of Amber Health, a new venture designed to address the mental health crisis in the live music industry with broad-based solutions designed to ease the constant burden faced by the true road warriors out there working to present amazing live shows. Chayim is a PhD in Clinical Psychology and Zack is a Marriage and Family Counselor and together, they work tirelessly to help those faced with tremendous stress on a daily basis. While last month was indeed Mental Health Awareness Month, Zack and Chayim are constantly fighting a battle and providing support to help stem this true crisis in mental health faced by those who bring us the live music we love so much. In the industry, the rates of depression, anxiety and suicide risk are 5-10 times greater than those in the general population, and this sobering statistic alone underscores how truly serious the problem is. Amber Health works with large organizations such as Playa Luna Presents (fka CID), Newport Folk & Jazz Festivals and the Country Music Association, among others, to help manage the staggering pressure and anxiety present on the frontlines. Roadcase supports all those fighting to battle the industry's mental health crisis and Amber Health stands strong in making this a better environment for all those involved. Come learn about these true heroes who are working behind the scenes to make this a safer and more emotionally supportive industry. For more info about Amber Health:https://amber.health/For more information on Roadcase: https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comContact: info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music: "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

For this episode of the podcast, we got to talk with Dr. Newman about his work. We discuss the state of mental health in the music industry, the different stressors on not only artists, but the myriad people who support art, the challenges in accessing mental health support, and possible paths forward to make sure people get the care they need. As Dr. Newman puts it, where there was no “net” before, Amber Health is beginning to build one. This is inspiring work for anyone who cares about music. Thank you for listening, and sharing the episode as widely as you can. At the outset, Amber Health was founded to analyze the mental health needs of artists & touring professionals and develop resources to support them navigate their incredibly taxing line of work. After the COVID-19 pandemic hit, its mission and scope expanded to create boots-on-the-ground support for the mental health needs of all music industry professionals. In this interview, we speak with Amber Health co-founder, Dr. Chayim Newman about the organization's mission and evolution over time, and what it's doing to support executives and artists alike.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. And as the weather warms up and music festival season starts, so many artists will hit the road to do what they do best - share their music, live-in-person, with the world, and bring joy to millions of people. But the challenges of being a touring artist can take a terrible toll on creators' mental and physical health. In a 2022 paper in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, Dr. Chayim Newman and Zack Borer - revealed some sobering statistics from a 239-question survey of more than eleven hundred touring professionals. They discovered that people working in the music industry have rates of depression, anxiety and suicide risk five to 10 times higher than the normal population. That's an astonishing statistic, but probably not surprising to many of our members who spend much of the year on the road facing many challenges. Newman and Borer recently launched Amber Health, a company that offers a broad suite of mental health services to help treat the root causes of this mental health crisis and to provide solutions for the music industry. To date, with science-based research under their belt, they've worked with such organizations as the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals, the Country Music Association, Live Nation as well as top artists in the industry. In an illuminating conversation, Newman and Borer share insights into the unique challenges artists face as working music professionals and some of the ways we can take care of ourselves and each other. This morning (3/10/23), in lieu of our Friday Q&A, we continued working on the Gemara we started on Wednesday. We reviewed what we covered last time, read and elucidated a summary of an idea from the Nefesh ha'Chayim, and then attempted to figure out the machlokess of the pesukim (if there IS a machlokess). While we didn't arrive at any conclusions, we did take some significant steps, and gained some insight along the way. Ayn Rand, "The Romantic Manifesto" -----The Torah content for the rest of Adar has been sponsored by my friend and chavrusa Zack, with the following dedicatory message: When asked, "Who is a leader you greatly admire?" my grandfather z”l immediately comes to mind. We love using ראשי תיבות - acronyms - in modern Hebrew. We take the initials and between the last two letters we add inverted commas (two apostrophes) to show that it's an acronym rather than an ordinary word. Lashon hara is by definition true, Don't speak it out loud or even through a clue. Lashon haha can be in words or in writing, Don't speak it even if it is exciting.
The Chafetz Chaim quotes verses, To tell us lashon hora will bring many curses. Not speaking lashon hora will lengthen our days, And help us walk in His ways!
Lashon Hara has many Laveen combined, Don't put a stumbling block in front of the blind. Don't accept a false report, Amd don't be a single witness in a court!
Speaking lashon hara can lead to our demise, Look no further than the sneaky snake, Miriam's words, and the sin of the spies. If only we undertood how high our words ascend, Lashon hara would make our hair stand on end!
