Golfing with Michael Jordan thats pretty much the jumping off point for this one. Born & raised in Lloydminster Clarke was undrafted in the WHL bantam draft, but that hardly slowed him down. He won a AJHL Championship & then followed it up with a WHL championship. Was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres 74th overall in 2003 and over his career played over 500 games between Buffalo, Atlanta, Toronto & Ottawa.

Congratulations Team Europe! Your second place finish is a much bigger accomplishment than the nicest Evil Empire’s victory, so you should feel proud. With the World Cup of Hockey in the rearview mirror, Joey and Penn turn their attention to the NHL Preseason. Lindholm and Rakell still haven’t signed, Timo Meier is out for four weeks with mononucleosis, and the Sharks keep winning their preseason games 3-2 in overtime. If you think the Ducks or Sharks have things to complain about, you’re obviously not an Ottawa Senators fan or Clarke MacArthur. Also, Joey went to a game! Team Europe somehow reinvents themselves, and the team built by Satan heads to the World Cup of Hockey finals to play Team Canada in a best of three! It's a full bench this week. Ryan, Dave, P Mac and Geeta get together to talk all about the drastic turn around for Europe, the amazing collapse of Team USA and their checking and grinder 2004-style roster and the dominant Team Canada. Will Europe give Canada a run for their money? Or will the Canadian dominance continue across another series? In Montreal Canadiens news, Michel Therrien is in hot water for allegedly saying Mac Pacioretty was the worst Habs captain of all time. Did he actually say this? Is he right? Or has there been a worse captain than Patches right now in this rough stretch in Habs history? They take a look at the unfortunate injury to Clarke MacArthur during a Senators training camp scrimmage. A completely senseless and stupid and preventable injury. They also talk about Erik Gudbranson lining up with Ben Hutton on the Vancouver Canucks' second defenceman unit and look back at Alain Vingeault's time as the head coach in Vancouver. Finally, the gang talks about the new FOX show 'Pitch' about a female pitcher who makes it to the Major Leagues to pitch for the San Diego Padres. They discuss how far away we are from women entering the top 4 team sports in North America and what type of roles they would have. They also have some fun time with PON Mail in 'Correspondence' to close out the show! Enjoy!
It's the end of camp and there isn't anything too surprising outside of Clarke MacArthur gracefully giving up his roster spot for the mean time. In order to get ready for the home opener, we are joined by Public Address Announcer, Stuntman Stu Schwartz (@StuntmanStu), Senators DJ, Alex Marchand (@senatorsdj), Sales Manager Dan Julien (@deejayyou) and In-Game Host Lauren Fine (@promolaur). Kardinal gets us to play an expansion draft game, we look at the PTO list, talk about 3 on 3 and the coach's challenge. The NHL's regular season is upon us once again and we've got you covered. Ahead this week on the program, we'll look back at the Maple Leafs preseason, tell you what to make of the team's performance and address some of the decisions that were ultimately made as a result. Frattin, Gardiner both stick as do both tough guys Rosehill and Orr. Franson sits while Komesarik plays. We'll discuss all those storylines coming up in the Leafs Notes portion of the Redline Report. Later in the segment, we'll spin you through the Revolving Door and update you on the plethora of Leafs injuries already. Also, another gut wrenching injury as a result of a touch icing. Is it time for a change? And is Brendan Shanahan going overboard and ruining the physicality of the game? Clarke MacArthur and Mike Milbury think so. Those topics wrap the Redline Report. Back Checking gets your voice on the program as we check in with a variety of Listener Contributions from Twitter and Email. Our little discussion on Episode 7.1 about appearances from "Jersey Guy" (random guy who wears sports jerseys in places one wouldn't think sports jerseys would pass as acceptable attire) drew a lot of response so we want to hear from you. Where are the weirdest places you've seen appearances from "Jersey Guy?" Tweet us your responses and we'll keep mentioning them on the show. The Troubling Fact of the Week wraps the segment. After that, it's rigamarole where we'll tell you, flat out, if the Leafs make the playoffs in 2012. Episode 7.2 of AFITC starts now.
Ahead this week on AFITC, the Toronto Maple Leafs won two of three games this week to remain in the playoff hunt, now just five points out of eighth spot. We'll take you through games against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks to begin the Redline Report. To wrap the segment, Quick Hits focuses on the premature end to Taylor Hall's season and this week's Troubling Fact of the Week. In Back Checking, we bring the voice of the listeners onto the show with contributions from Facebook, Twitter and two great emails from Cathy and Aaron. Wrapping the segment is Leafs TV host Paul Hendrick who sat down with Dave on Friday to offer some insights straight from the Leafs locker room. Finally, rigamarole concludes the program with a look at the decisions Brian Burke is facing on several key Leafs' restricted free agents not named Clarke MacArthur. Stick around there's lots coming your way on Episode 6.24 of AFITC. Thanks, as always, to Paul Hendrick for coming on the show. It's always great getting his insight on the program.
Ahead this week on AFITC, the Maple Leafs earned points in all four games this week but should they be satisfied? We'll take you through the four games against the New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins and Atlanta Thrashers to kick start the Redline Report. How did this week position the Leafs going forward? We're all over that question before providing an update on Jonas Gustavsson in the Revolving Door and wrapping the segment with Quick Hits on Sidney Crosby, Eric Staal and Bryan McCabe. Back Checking brings lots of Listener Contributions from Twitter, Facebook and Email on a variety of subjects including concussions, the Leafs goaltending situation and what Brian Burke should be doing at the trade deadline. The Gong Banger happens by at end of the segment to ring in another Troubling Fact of the Week. Rigamarole wraps the program with a look at whether Brian Burke should fish or cut bait with the Leafs leading scorer Clarke MacArthur. It's Oscar Night here on Planet Earth. In just six weeks, we'll find out if the Maple Leafs playoff push is for real or deserves an Oscar in the category of best impersonation of a playoff team. This is Episode 6.23 of AFITC.
Ahead this week on AFITC, just when the Toronto Maple Leafs start to convince people that they've turned a corner, reality snaps back in a hurry. We'll take you through two wins over the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes as well as an abyssal effort against the Buffalo Sabres to kick start the Redline Report. Mike Brown resigns, will Clarke MacArthur soon follow? We'll discuss those two players who have been among the few consistent performers for the Leafs this season. Are the Leafs taking the best course of action with the development of Jerry D'Amigo? We'll address his status before spinning through the Revolving Door and wrapping the segment with Quick Hits on Evgeni Malkin and an NHLPA poll that left some dubious results for the Leafs. Back Checking brings Listener Contributions, the Junior Hockey Report and a not-for-the-faint-of-heart Troubling Fact of the Week. To wrap the program, rigamarole looks at the core of the Maple Leafs and explains why Brian Burke's rebuild, so far, has been a bitter disappointment. Toronto's schools were shut down on Wednesday due to snow. For the record, if we had planned to do a show that day, the snow wouldn't have stopped us. This is Episode 6.20 of AFITC!
Ahead this week on AFITC, a busy week of four games saw the Toronto Maple Leafs bookend a pair of losses with victories to start and finish the week. We'll take you through the details of games against the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens to kick start the Redline Report. Later, Jonas Gustavsson has been showing noticeable displeasure after allowing goals by smashing his stick against the goal post. Is this a bad thing? We'll discuss that as well as taking a spin through the Revolving Door and touching on an incident involving Matt Carkner of the Ottawa Senators. Back Checking brings Listener Email, the Junior Hockey Report and the return of the Gong Banger in the Troubling Fact of the Week. To wrap the show, rigamarole explains why Clarke MacArthur is very similar to Domenic Moore and why the fact that he's leading the Leafs in scoring isn't a good thing. Stick around, there's magic coming your way on Episode 6.12 of AFITC.

Round 1 wasn't over when this episode began, but it was by the time we were done, and we've got a whole slate of early lessons learned on this episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! Elan and Brian start off by attempting to rationalize all the surprises we've seen in the playoffs thus far, including two top teams going out with barely so much as a whimper. Playoff storylines aplenty are raised and dissected, including a couple huge goaltending performances, the emergence of a new member of Pittsburgh's top powerplay unit, the resurgence of a Cup-winning vet, and the possibility of Mr. Game 7 really being a thing. There have also been a litany of coaching moves made already, and we take a look at a couple players looking most likely to be affected at this point, including two franchise cornerstones in Los Angeles, a face-saving goaltender in Buffalo, and a pair of first round fantasy picks in Dallas. The 48th edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey show sees Elan and Brian trying to go into the All Star Break on a positive note. Our headlines kick off with a terrible, horrible, no-good very bad injury to one of the league's most exciting players of the last 2 months, caused by one of the league's least relevant and under-talented regular skaters of the last several years. I guess we're a little upset about it? We also cover a returning d-man in Winnipeg, goalie creases in Nashville, Montreal, and New Jersey, and a couple outjuried scorers for the Predators and Coyotes. We give our takes on the Dubnyk trade, and what it means for several other goalies not even named Dubnyk, as well as the latest batch of forwards making surprise appearanceson top scoring lines and in box scores. In another round of Sustainable or Fleeting, Elan and Brian take on a couple Oilers finding chemistry(?), a faded Star showing flashes of scoring brilliance, the Senators' second-best rookie, and a top line that has finally started playing like one.Players of note this week include a healthy scratch who leads his team in goal-scoring, a winger who consistently transcends his sidekick designation, a record-setting workhorse goalie, and yet another Florida Panther. The show rounds off with our quickest Lightning Round ever, featuring brief updates on a sputtering rookie D, an understated forward finding his game again, and one of three Zajacs in the Devils organization.Players discussed on this episode include Mathieu Perreault, Devan Dubnyk, Pekka Rinne, Carter Hutton, Marek Mazanec, Toby Enstrom, Evander Kane, James Neal, Martin Hanzal, Travis Zajac, Clarke MacArthur, Carey Price, Cory Schneider, Braden Holtby, Dustin Tokarski, Keith Kinkaid, Martin Hanzal, Darcy Kuemper, Colin Wilson, David Backes, Mike Fisher, James Neal, Filip Forsberg, Matt Beleskey, Sami Vatanen, Bryan Bickell, Patrick Sharp, Riley Sheahan, Alex Steen, Ryan Callahan, Josh Bailey, Nicklas Backstrom, Martin Brodeur, Josh Harding, Mark Stone, Derek Roy, Ales Hemsky, Benoit Pouliot, TJ Oshie, Mikkel Boedker, Kyle Palmieri, Kyle Okposo, Jonathan Huberdeau, and more.If you enjoy the show, please support us by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. The Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast's time on air gets a bump but our players discussed per 60 minutes stays constant on our 42nd edition of the show.Shifting and evolving goalie tandems around the league are a running theme in our headlines, along with a couple injuries throwing a couple already-chaotic line combinations into further instability. Elan and Brian also deflate the tires of a centerman we pumped up last week, break our deafening silence on a leading Calder candidate, have a look beyond the stars and into Detroit's depth, and get on and off the trains belong to a couple up-and-down defensemen. In outjury discussion, Elan forces Brian to re-rank the top tier of defensemen, and we officially add a couple more to the company of Karlsson, Weber, and Subban. We also look at a handful players who woke up just in time to avoid earning the dreaded Keeping Karlsson snoozer label, though not all are able to escape such fate.
