Locked On Golden Knights - Daily Podcast On the Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights will face an elimination game on Friday after losing 3-2 in Dallas to the Stars Wednesday night. VGK's Alex Pietrangelo committed a retaliatory penalty by hitting Tyler Seguin of the Stars with a backhanded punch. The penalty proved to be costly as Jason Robertson scored the game winning goal with Pietrangelo looking on from the penalty box. It was the second time in two games that Pietrangelo committed a penalty that led to the game winning goal. He lost his composure. Dallas played keepaway again after that score in the third period to win its 40th game after leading at the second intermission. The Dallas power play was 2-for-4. The Golden Knights Bruce Cassidy made several line changes and inserted Pavel Dorofeyev and Ben Hutton into the lineup, while sitting ineffective Keegan Kolesar and Zach Whitecloud. We talk about what changes we can foresee in the upcoming elimination game. And, we discuss what a loss in Game 6 will mean for VGK.

Bruce Cassidy sat veteran defensemen Nic Hague and Zach Whitecloud Sunday. You have to wonder if it will have an adverse effect on the Golden Knights in the locker room. Was it a temporary move, or is Cassidy sending a message to the two players. Granted he replaced them with Alec Martinez and Ben Hutton, but the message was sent loud and clear as Cassidy replaced two players that have been in the starting lineup for more than 50 games apiece. Cassidy benched Phil Kessel last year and in Boston, his benching of Jake DeBrusk, led to DeBrusk's agent going public with trade demands. VGK plays host to the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Tampa has won three straight and has a lot of firepower in its lineup. Nikita Kucherov has 114 points in 66 games. And, the Bolts come off a win over the hot Florida Panthers. We have our Locks of the Knight and predictions for this contest and more!

Bruce Cassidy benched two defensive players Sunday in the Golden Knights 3-1 win over the visiting New Jersey Devils. Cassidy sat starting blueliners Zach Whitecloud and Nic Hague in favor of Alec Martinez, back off injury, and Ben Hutton. The move had to send shockwaves through the VGK locker room. Cassidy is making the team battle for playing time. He said players have to play well when they get a chance. He added, "it sucks for guys that aren't in the lineup." Jack Eichel played a solid game on both ends of the ice. He had eight shots on goal against Jake Allen including one on a breakaway and the game-winner in the third period. New acquisition Noah Hanifin had two assists. And, William Karlsson, who was stopped twice on breakaways, added an empty netter. William Carrier, in his second game back, added a goal off a deflection that hit his chest. We also talk about a goalie competition, as Logan Thompson played in net for the first time in 15 days on Sunday.
Today we're joined by VGK player Ben Hutton and we hear from Bruce Cassidy VGK coach.

One area of weakness for VGK is the second line left winger. Five players have filled in at that position this season. Most recently, William Carrier started at that position in the Winter Classic. He moved up from the fourth line to play there. Brett Howden took his spot on the fourth line. This season Paul Cotter started at LW with Stephenson and Stone. He has not had the scoring punch, however, that Bruce Cassidy was looking for. We feel Pavel Dorofeyev needs more reps in the lineup, so his number could be called. Nontheless, VGK needs to find a consistent starter at that position. We discuss whether the Ben Hutton signing over the Christmas break will have an effect on VGK free agent signings next Spring. And we talk about the current playoff picture and whether five Pacific Division teams will make it into the playoffs.FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. First online real money wager only. Despite losing back-to-back games on the road swing, VGK banked a couple of points from their shootout loss last night to the Edmonton Oilers and the OT loss in Calgary the previous night. Bruce Cassidy said with a point in each game, he feels his team is .500 for the road trip. VGK grinded out two points in the 5-4 loss to the Oilers, which Mark Stone says matter, especially later in the season. Stone said he told his teammates that everyone needs to step up with the absence of two defensive starters - Shea Theodore and Alec Martinez - who didn't make this trip due to injury. Two Golden Knights scored their first goals of the season, Ben Hutton and Keegan Kolesar. VGK didnt score in the shootout. We talk about a third assistant joining the bench last night. Bruce Cassidy said he likes a three-man bench, with him and two assistants. But, he added Joel Ward to the bench in Edmonton. Cassidy said Ward has been working on faceoffs and some individual coaching of the team's 12 forwards.FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. First online real money wager only. The Edmonton Oilers almost let two points slip away last night in the third period but managed to hold on and secure the win in a shootout over the Vegas Golden Knights. Heading into the third period, the Oilers held a 4-2 lead over Vegas. Sam Gagner opened up the scoring in his return to the lineup with his third of the year in the first period. In the second, Edmonton scored three, with Mattias Janmark getting his first goal of the season, along with Connor McDavid and Evander Kane. However, the Golden Knights never went away. Mark Stone and Mike Amadio scored in the second period, and then later in the game, Ben Hutton and Keagan Kolsar scored to send the game into overtime. Overtime would solve nothing, though, so in the shootout, McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored to give the Oilers the win and two points. Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will break down everything from last night's game on Oilersnation Everyday. They will look through all the goals and give their comments and concerns on the Oilers right now. If you want to contribute something to the conversation, do not hesitate to leave your questions, comments and concerns in the Finning/CAT YouTube live chat. Your thoughts will always be welcomed throughout the show. Later in the show, Liam's game will make its weekly appearance, giving you a chance to win a prize. The game is straightforward and available for everyone if you watch the show live on the Oilersnation YouTube channel. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Guest Ben Hutton Panelist Richard Littauer Show Notes Hello and welcome to Sustain! The podcast where we talk about sustaining open source for the long haul. In this episode, Richard introduces us to Ben Hutton, a Specification Lead for JSON Schema at Postman. They discuss the evolution and diverse applications of JSON Schema, its funding, and the importance of open standards for interoperability and innovation. The episode delves into real-world use cases, community feedback, and the 10-year vision for JSON Schema. Join Richard and Ben as they explore how JSON Schema is shaping the development stack and its potential impact on various industries. Hit download now to hear more! [00:01:00] Ben describes his work on JSON Schema at Postman. His work entails leading the project, finding ways to move forward, creating visions and roadmaps. [00:01:50] Richard brings up the question of understanding the market value for a Schema like JSON and asks Ben to elaborate on the improvements and ways they are moving forward. Ben explains how JSON Schema has evolved over time to cater to more use cases. [00:03:22] Ben explains that Postman funds his work because JSON Schema is used by The OpenAPI Specification, a standard for defining the interface and data structure of APIs, which is a part of Postman products. [00:04:20] Richard asks about the number of maintainers and community members for JSON Schema, and Ben tells us there are about five or six core maintainers and a community size around 15,000. [00:05:16] What's the importance of open standards and why do they need continuous improvements? Ben explains that the team helps developers understand and use JSON Schemas and supports the implementers of the Schema across different programming languages. [00:07:24] Ben discusses a use case with Six River Systems, illustrating how JSON Schema helped different teams within a company to define their data structures and communicate more effectively, preventing bugs and misunderstandings. [00:09:29] We hear why open standards are important, as Ben states that standards are vital for creating value that people can use and ensure interoperability and they can also spur innovation. [00:11:51] Ben explains that JSON Schema was initially a personal draft within the IETF, but due to lack of alignment and communication issues, they've decided to publish their own standards while still maintaining some principles from the IETF. [00:14:51] What's the difference between JSON Schema and JSON? Ben explains JSON is used for API calls, and JSON Schema defines the stricture of expected JSON data. He also speaks about managing radical change requests, maintaining standards, and the value of community feedback, and he reveals an official JSON Schema test suite and a new tool called Bowtie. [00:18:23] Richard asks about the funding and progression of JSON Schema, given its foundational role and slower pace of development. Ben describes Postman's evolution from a basic API client to a comprehensive API platform. [00:20:01] Ben mentions other companies, such as Retool and Airbnb, that support JSON Schema due to its utility in their own offerings, and he talks about Microsoft's usage and a pending case study on how GitHub uses JSON Schema internally. [00:24:09] Richard asks Ben about his 10-year vision for JSON Schema. Ben envisions JSON Schema being used throughout the entire development stack, from inception to defining data structures and models. He tells us about a case study they used from Open Metadata. [00:27:18] The topic of financial needs for JSON Schema is brought up and Ben is content with current funding but admits they need to assess financial stability. He also tells us about future plans improving compliance and supporting the ecosystem to ensure interoperability across different languages and backgrounds. [00:31:12] Richard asks about potential threats to JSON Schema, and Ben mentions that biggest threat would be if something were to replace JSON, and simplicity and ease of learning are key strengths of JSON and JSON Schema. [00:33:47] Find out where you can learn more about Ben and JSON Schema online. Spotlight [00:35:31] Richard's spotlight is the book, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by J. R. R. The NHL suspended VGK's Alex Pietrangelo and Edmonton's Darnell Nurse Thursday for their parts in Game 4 incidents. Petro for his slash on Leon Draisaitl with 1:37 remaining in the contest, and Nurse for being an instigator in the fight against the Golden Knights Nick Hague. We discuss which player's loss will have a greater impact on their team. Both are team leaders and play the most minutes of the blueliners for their team. VGK could see Ben Hutton inserted into the lineup or Brayden Pachal. Philip Broberg will probably draw in for the Oilers, who have played a lot of the 11/7 structure and he has been a part of the lineup for 8 playoff games. VGK will need to have an early jump at home Friday. Who will be the target for Edmonton with Petro out? Will they continue to crosscheck Mark Stone? Jack Eichel? They have picked a target every game. We also have out predictions and Locks of the Knight. Plus, it's WTF (What The Friday) time again.FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. First online real money wager only. The Golden Knights have a chance to clinch a playoff berth tonight as they face the rival Sharks in San Jose. The Sharks are a team in full tanking mode as they look to rebuild. However, San Jose broke a nine-game losing streak with a win over Winnipeg at home Tuesday. VGK did not travel Shea Theodore, who is listed as day-to-day with an unspecified injury. Ben Hutton will take Theodore's spot in the bottom pairing with Nic Hague. Brayden Pachal was brought up from Henderson as a depth piece for the VGK. The Sharks still have a decent lineup of veterans that includes Logan Couture, Tmas Hertl and Kevin LeBlanc. Top prospect William Eklund is out. Erik Karlsson has 91 points and is among the favorites for the Norris Trophy.FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. First online real money wager only. VGK fell in New Jersey in overtime to the Devils Tuesday night 3-2. The Golden Knights led 2-1 until Dougie Hamilton found the back of the net with 1:10 to go in regulation. Both goals in the first 60 minutes came off deflections and Logan Thompson was unable to stop redirected pucks. Hamilton would later pot the game winner with less than a minute to go in the extra period off a sensational pass by Jack Hughes, who drew two defenders on the power play and found Hamilton alone in the high slot. Thompson afterward said the loss was on him, when really it was bad luck. VGK has given up four deflected goals in recent losses to Dallas, and now to the Devils, who were play their fourth consecutive over game (3-1.) VGK trailed early, again, surrendering the opening goal for an `11th time in 13 games. The Golden Knights actually had a solid second period with goals by Ben Hutton and William Karlsson. VGK did a terrific job, especially early, in clogging the neutral zone in an effort to neutralize a speedy Devils team. Each team had its jump in the game, Thompson said the last ten games, he has not been pleased with his own effort. He is 3-5-2 in the last 10 starting with the Kings loss in L.A. He had 27 saves in Tuesday's game at the Rock and kept VGK in the game with mor than a handful of miraculous saves. He said the game winner was an "unacceptable goal" to give up. Thompson felt he should have saved even the deflected goals. VGK's power play is slumping as they are now just 1 for 12 in the last six games. They need to get more PP opportunities and finishes. Despite the loss, VGK is now 15-4-3 on the road. Our Chris Gawlick feels the Golden Knights played well enough to take momentum into Friday's game vs the Rangers. Bruce Cassidy said he saw enough of Adin Hill after the starting goalie surrendered two goals on just five shots early in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to Anaheim, so he took out Hill in favor of Logan Thompson, who didn't surrender another regulation or OT goal. Cassidy said afterward that "something looked off and the goalie (Hill) should have been the most prepared because he had the previous night off." It was a road trip (LA/Anaheim) that saw the VGK get only one point. VGK's Mark Stone scored the team's seventh shorthanded goal of the season, which leads the NHL. Ben Hutton scored his first goal of the season for the Golden Knights. Hutton replaced Alec Martinez, who was sent back to Las Vegas for evaluation after taking a shot off his ankle in the Kings game. VGK also failed to score on the power play, even with a 5 on 3 advantage early in the game. Cassidy also jumbled lines for VGK. The Golden Knights Jonathan Marchessault didn't play, even though he was on the road trip with the team. VGK didn't score any shootout goals. Zegras and Terry scored for the Ducks. VGK defeated a depleted Columbus team Monday night 3-2 in a shootout. The Golden Knights finished last season going 0-19 on shootout attempts and finally broke through on their third attempt as Jonathan Marchessault found the net. It was an important goal as it extended the shootout. Seven shooters followed and couldn't put the puck in net. And in the seventh round, Paul Cotter, the rookie scored the game-winner. Before Cotter took the ice, goalie Logan Thompson took off his blocker and signaled 4-3 to the VGK bench, requesting Cotter take the next shot. Bruce Cassidy said afterward that he has never seen that before. The goaltender told the bench who to send in for the shootout. Cotter and Thompson were teammates in the AHL with Henderson. Thompson knew Cotter would deliver. We also talk about players who missed the game in Columbus - Brett Howden (injury) and Alex Pietrangelo (personal) and how Ben Hutton and Shea Theodore filled roles. We preview the Golden Knights vs Florida Panthers game with Armando Velez of Locked On Florida Panthers on today's episode. Florida comes off a win over the San Jose Sharks on the west coast swing. The Golden Knights hope to break a five-game losing streak in front of their hometown fans. VGK needs to have better goaltending, play better defensively and score more goals, if they are going to beat one of the Stanley Cup contenders Thursday night. The Golden Knights could benefit from the return of some players. We are guessing that we could see Brayden McNabb, and, perhaps Brett Howden, Mattias Janmark or Ben Hutton for VGK. The Panthers were active on Wednesday acquiring Montreal defenseman Ben Chiarot and they dealt away Frank Vatrano to the New York Rangers. So far no strong trade rumors for the Golden Knights. The trade deadline is Monday. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

By age 12, he was working job sites. He studied construction management at Kansas State University and started at Hutton as a project manager. Soon after, he was leading the company's business development efforts. In 2010, he became president. In 2016, CEO. Since then, the company's capabilities have expanded and the number of employees more than tripled. Patrick Lencioni's teachings have been instrumental in Ben's leadership journey. You might recognize Pat from The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Death by Meeting, or Ben's personal favorite Getting Naked! Lencioni is the pioneer of the organizational health movement and one of the world's foremost experts on leadership and teamwork. As an author, speaker, consultant and CEO of the Table Group, Pat has spent the last 20 years shaping the organizational health movement by helping leaders develop cohesive teams and engaged employees. Patrick's books have sold more than 6 million copies and his work has been featured in Fortune, USA TODAY, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Harvard Business Review, to name a few. During his time in Wichita, Patrick will be focused on his new model, The Working Genius. Far too many people in the world suffer needlessly because they don't understand their personal areas of working genius. As a result, they don't do the kind of work that gives them joy and energy, and they end up in jobs and projects that are draining and demoralizing. This is a grave tragedy on two levels.First, it leads those people to lose confidence in themselves and enthusiasm for life, which is devastating for them, their families and friends, and society as a whole. That alone is heartbreaking. Second, organizations and teams–even families–that don't tap into the true genius of their members can't come close to realizing their potential. They are left puzzled by their inability to achieve their goals. This often leads them to make inaccurate and hurtful judgements about one another, and to feel unnecessarily guilty about their own shortcomings. What makes all of this particularly tragic is that it is avoidable. The solution is for everyone–employees, managers, students and spouses–to identify their areas of working genius, as well as their areas of life draining weakness, and to put themselves in a position to tap into their genius more and engage in their weakness less. Annual Meeting is open to the community and anyone who purchases a ticket will be given access to the Working Genius assessment so you can tap into your own genius and discover the gifts you bring to work!Join the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce!
