After three-and-a-half years, Ryan Strome departs the New York Rangers and signs with the Anaheim Ducks. We discuss why Stromer seems destined to be one of the more underappreciated Rangers in recent memory. Remembering Strome for what he was: a great teammate, an excellent passer, a rock-solid second line center, and someone who left the Rangers in a better spot than when he got here. Recalling the lopsided trade that brought Strome to New York in exchange for Ryan Spooner (after Spooner was acquired as part of the Rick Nash trade to the Boston Bruins). We also acknowledge some of the flaws in his game and wish him the best in Anaheim alongside Frank Vatrano! Also, Tyler Motte is still an unrestricted free agent. Episode 643. Intro song is “Leave the Lights On” by Passafire. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The guys start the hour by replaying In The Box's interview with Ryan Spooner. Then they wrap things up with the Leftover 5
Canadian ice hockey player Ryan Sooner join Steve and CJ to speak on his time with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the KHL, his decision to pass on the Beijing Olympics, currently having Covid, KHL protocols, how he likes playing in Russia,
Steve Lloyd is back to ring in the new year, Sens lay an egg against the Leafs, frustration seems to be boiling over with Captain Brady Tkachuk, teeing up later interview with Ryan Spooner, his decision to pass on the Beijing Olympics, Sens game on Thursday night vs Seattle postponed, Bill Daly's comments on scheduling, and the window shrinking to fit in all 82 games.

For the first time in a while it was a quiet week for the Rangers. We talk about the 8 players participating in the IIHF World Championships. We have two great guests. First up is long time Newsday journalist Neil Best. Neil has been covering New York Sports for 35+ years. We talk to him about both the Rangers and Islanders. Our second guest is former New York Ranger and current KHL superstar Ryan Spooner. We talk to Ryan about his time with Boston, New York and his NHL career. Then talk about jumping over the KHL and the great success he has had over there.
He's back! You asked for it, and we delivered. Ryan Spooner joins us again, but this time to talk about the remainder of his season in the KHL, the expansion draft, and even an NHL playoff preview!
Happy Easter Everybody! We are 8 days away from the trade deadline, but that doesn't mean there is anything else to discuss. Ekblad and Kapanen are out weeks which will have an effect on the deadline. Fluto Shinzawa posted a story on The Athletic stipulating that McAvoy and Grzelcyk are the best D pairing in the NHL however they can't stay together unless the B's acquire a left defenseman. We talk about multiple signings which took place, the biggest being an extension for Thatcher Demko. Spencer Knight, Trevor Van Riemsdyk, Matt Kiersted, Cole Caufield are the other signees. Hayley Moore has been named the AHL Vice President of Hockey Operations along with other responsibilities. We break down the need for Vancouver to play their young mates. Brady Tkachuk fights Shea Weber. Keegan Kolesar answers stupid questions. Marchand hits DeSmith and no Penguins respond. We talk about diving and embellishment as well as re-visit Ryan Spooner. Finally, Jeff Morris presents the Reset Draft...Enjoy the Show!
On episode 42 of the #MentalDivePodcast, I start out by giving some advice to hockey players who find themselves playing in fear. After, I am pumped to be joined by Ryan Spooner (6:07). Ryan is a professional hockey player who has played over 500 professional games, including 325 NHL games, accumulating 48 goals and 167 points over 7 different NHL seasons. Currently he is playing in the KHL with Minsk Dynamo, leading his team with 23 points in 20 games. Throughout the course of the interview, myself and Ryan get into a ton of topics including his perspectives on youth hockey development, his reaction to getting traded at the NHL trade deadline, why he thinks that the mental side of hockey is huge, and so much more. It’s Friday afternoon and that means a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded, edited into a masterpiece, and ready to get you set for the weekend. This week, we looked at which Oilers prospects have us most excited, Reverse Retro jersey winners and losers, spoke to Lali Toor from APNA Hockey about winning the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s podcast, we got started with a conversation about the Oilers prospects that are playing over in Europe, specifically which ones we're the most excited about. Whether it's Broberg, Bouchard, Lavoie, or anyone else, there are some important prospects that are getting some quality minutes over in Europe right now and it's been fun to watch many of them have some success. Changing gears, we looked at Jujhar Khaira's spot in the lineup and whether or not his ability to kill penalties will be enough to keep him in the lineup on a nightly basis. From there, we looked at the Reverse Retro jerseys that were released earlier in the week and picked our winners and losers from around the NHL. With the picks locked in, I also made the boys say nice things about their jersey losers to add a small dose of positivity to the podcast. Back to the dark side, we looked back at one of the strangest week's in Oilers history that came in 2018 after Peter Chiarelli both traded Ryan Strome for Ryan Spooner and fired Todd McLellan, replacing him with Ken Hitchcock. Lastly, we were thrilled to welcome Lali Toor from APNA Hockey to talk about the upcoming plans for the organization, what it means to win the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award, and a whole lot more.

This week Ryan Spooner joins Balcony Chatter to talk about his start with the Bruins, the 2016 Winter Classic, his trade from Boston and what he's currently up to in the KHL.
Delighted to have a former hockey player of mine, Ryan Spooner on the podcast this week; Ryan made his NHL debut for Boston in early February of 2013, against the Montreal Canadiens wearing number 51. His NHL career spanned 7 seasons with 4 different NHL teams (5 seasons with Boston) but and recently he has extended his pro career playing overseas last year for HC Lugano in Switzerland and currently he plays in the KHL for Dinamo Minsk. A second-round NHL draft pick, Ryan started his pro career making a big impression in the AHL as a rookie with the Providence Bruins (Boston's top affiliate) where he tallied 57 points in 59 games. Great to have this very talented hockey player on the show... enjoy...!
Ryan Spooner on the Tomahawk Roundup
Ryan Kennedy of the Hockey News discusses what it means for an NHLer when they decide it's time to head to Europe to play, as Ryan Spooner has done. Ryan also gets into how and why teams are scouting competitiveness
Canucks coach Travis Green says Ben Hutton and Ryan Spooner won't play tonight vs Toronto and admits there's always a playoff-like buzz when the Leafs are in town
Steve Tambellini says he hasn’t seen a year with so many impact players available, so close to the deadline. Steve likes that Ryan Spooner is getting top line minutes right off the bat, and suggests that if a trade can make the Canucks better, it has to be considered
Ryan Spooner says he's "pumped" to join a "great young team in a playoff race" and discusses what he hopes to bring to a line with Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser
Mike and Jason discuss the Canucks road trip with Jeff Paterson, and what to expect from Ryan Spooner. The boys also discuss the western playoff turtle race
Jeff Paterson discusses a Monday Canucks practice, where newly-acquired Ryan Spooner skated with EP40 and Brock Boeser.
The Carolina Hurricanes were dubbed a "bunch of jerks" by Don Cherry this week for their win celebrations. Was he right? Are the Carolina Hurricanes a bunch of jerks or is Don Cherry just a grumpy old man? The Edmonton Oilers traded Cam Talbot for Anthony Stolarz this week, which caused us to wonder, are the Philadelphia Flyers as good of a team as they appear to be lately? The Oilers also trade Ryan Spooner for Sam Gagner, which caused us to wonder, how can the Canucks fix their contract problems? Evgeni Malkin was suspended for one game for his attempted hitting of Michael Raffl. Was it the right suspension? The Anaheim Ducks make their way to the Elimination Station! With so many big money contracts not producing, how can they make their way back to contender status? The St. Louis Blues have won 10 games in a row. So, they're good now....right? The Pavel Bure Must Watch Games of the Week are selected and more on episode 219 of the 4th Line Hockey Podcast! The Two Man Forecheck is kicking off its third year of existence with a packed show spanning coaches, players, prospects and deals. To start, Randy Carlyle has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Anaheim Ducks. This may have been overdue, but we can’t help thinking that it is a good thing for Randy. He can take some time to decompress and come back to a new job on his own time and at his own choosing. His résumé speaks for itself and should make him attractive to other organizations. As for the Ducks, the GM, Bob Murray, has stepped in behind the bench. Does he really have the time to coach while trying to make the changes necessary to get the team headed in the right direction? The Bruins’ Zane McIntyre was having a rough start to the season (as was Dan Vladar), but he has reeled off 12 wins in a row, the last against the Toronto Marlies while allowing only one goal. Our questions: When will he get the chance at the top level? Will he get that chance in Boston? Philly traded away one of their young goaltending prospects to Edmonton for…a goaltender. Cam Talbot is the latest entry in the Flyers’ goaltending carousel. Both players are UFAs at the end of the season, but it is a fair bet that Talbot will not be staying with Philadelphia. Apparently, Cam and Carter train together in the off-season and Carter sees Cam as a mentor at the position. We cover a few of the possible moves to be made between now and the deadline. Andre Burakovsky has appeared anemic this season with the Capitals, could they move on him? One of the better offensive minded defensemen in the league, Keith Yandle, could be a trade piece for a floundering Panthers squad, but who could take on his contract at 33 years of age? An intriguing player posed by Mike could be Mark Stone of Ottawa. He has strong offensive numbers, but I don’t see the health consistency that I would like from someone earning what he does. Finally, could Gustav Nyquist be moveable? We have already discussed blowing up the Detroit Red Wings, and Stevie Y could do just that when he takes over (Chris assumes) but moving on from Nyquist could be the start, but how is his attitude? He has shown a little aggression issue in the past, but he has a scorer’s touch as well. The Women’s National team is currently playing three games against the Canadian National team. There are no less than 3 women playing with the squad for the first time. We discuss not only the new players but their influence on the youth and their impact on the areas they come from. Ryan Spooner is on the move again, this time to Vancouver for Sam Gagner. The trade is for similar players, but this could be a positive one for Spoons. He will be going to a young, fast, offensive minded team where his playmaking ability can be appreciated. We close out with discussions on Ben Bishop, goaltending in general, last week’s Twitter Poll and Bruins prospect Oskar Steen. At 20 years old he is still playing in Sweden, but when he shows up at development camp, he displays what the Bruins could have. A packed show to be sure, with plenty of opportunity to comment and disagree. Let us know what you think and Enjoy the Show!
This week in anguish: - Two dispiriting losses to San Jose and Anaheim reacquaint us with two very familiar flavours of Canucks misery. - Jim Benning gave an interview, and Tristan came away from it relatively unscathed, with only five bang-your-head-against-a-wall moments. - Ardella attempts to fill her half-empty emotional glass by researching the team's injury woes, Luke Schenn, Ryan Spooner, and some surprisingly upbeat Jacob Markstrom stats. - How did Ardella not know that Christopher Tanev has never managed to play a full season? Well, she didn't, but she learned some interesting things about the most injured Canucks d-men along the way. Thanks for listening! If you liked the show, tell a friend. We're living in a world where the hottest team in the NHL is the St. Louis Blues and the New York Islanders are leading the Metro division after John Tavares decided to skip town. One week removed the snowiest podcast recording on record, Ryan Geeta and Paul gather at the palatial estate on a sunny Sunday afternoon to discuss an interesting week in the NHL. The Edmonton Oilers shed some cap space and a goaltender as Cam Talbot heads to Philadelphia to backup and mentor his friend IRL, Carter Hart. Dave joins the show to discuss the red hot New York Islanders. They're leading their division and winning by committee without John Tavares. Former Islander and Tavares teammate Rob Schremp chimed in on Twitter to give a less than stellar opinion on Tavares as a teammate. We discuss these comments as well as the positive impact that adding Barry Trotz and Lou Lamoriello can have on a team and organization. They also discuss the unfortunate NHL debut for Michael DiPietro for the Vancouver Canucks in their 7-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks last Monday. They break down how it could have been prevented and just why the 19 year old wound up with the start. Finally, they discuss the Canucks' trading Sam Ganger for Ryan Spooner, discuss possible trade locations for Matt Duchene and Mark Stone and answer a couple questions from Twitter. The NHL All-Star weekend is almost here and honestly the game can be a bit of a snooze fest. Some players decline their invitations, and others play half-hearted with little motivation. There have been some positive changes in the last few years but what else can be done? Despite having the best player in the NHL the Edmonton Oilers have been a disaster. They have traded away multiple assets for duds (I'm looking at you Ryan Spooner) and have signed some questionable contracts *cough* Lucic *cough*. What can the Winnipeg Jets learn from their mistakes? With the franchise in turmoil is there any way for the Jets to capitalize? Remember that not only can you find the JetsNation Podcast on Anchor.fm, but we're also on iTunes! Alex and Chace are back with another week of NHL news to break down. Unfortunately, they recorded the night of Peter Chiarelli's firing. However, the guys still look at the waiving of Ryan Spooner and Ty Rattie. Along with the what Alex and Chace can only call a bizarre extension to Mikko Koskinen. Following this, the guys look at the Nino Niederreiter for Viktor Rask swap. Chace tries to make sense of it while Alex has none of it. Overall, the guys both seem to find it confusing. After that, they touch on the Teuvo Teraveninen extension. A deal that both guys made much more sense out of. They break down Teravienen's play and why this deal is a solid one. Next, Alex brings up the NHL Bye-Weeks and how it will affect teams. They debate the good and bad of having all bye-weeks by the deadline. Overall, Alex and Chace both seem to like it. Lastly, the guys talk about Matt Duchene. Duchene is rumoured to have been given an 8x8 contract extension. Alex feels like he is the only Sens fan in the world who thinks this is a bad idea. See why he and Chace both think this will be a poor decision for Ottawa. Tune in for all of this and more, with the MnM Hockey Podcast!
The guys are back and ready to break down the news from a busy week in the NHL, including a coach this week that offered to take on the ultimate role: Player Coach. Nino Niederreiter was dealt by the Minnesota Wild to the Carolina for Viktor Rask. Who wins? The Canes also extended Teuvo Teravainen. The Carolina Player Coaches are doing things! The Edmonton Oilers put Ryan Spooner on waivers and extended Mikko Koskinen. What are they doing in Edmonton? (They ask again) The World Cup of Hockey was cancelled. What does this mean for labour peace in the future? The New York Islanders continue to win! But where will they end up this season? Lastly, the Detroit Red Wings enter the Elimination Station and a miniature Pavel Bures are selected. All this and more on episode 215 of the 4th Line Hockey Podcast! The Edmonton Oilers have signed Mikko Koskinen long term, while waiving Ryan Spooner and Ty Rattie and sending Caleb Jones to the AHL. David Staples and Bruce McCurdy of The Cult of Hockey dig in.
The guys are back with a very busy week of news to talk about. They start by looking at a trio of Edmonton Oiler moves. They break down the Chris Wideman trade and why that was a smart move to make. Alex and Chace also look at the hiring of Ken Hitchcock. They debate whether or not it will help the team this season. Finally, they look at the Ryan Strome for Ryan Spooner trade and reflect on how poor the Jordan Eberle trade has turned out for Edmonton. Following that, they switch their sites to St. Louis Blues news. Chace is confused on why this team has struggled so much. Alex thinks that firing Mike Yeo for Craig Berube was the correct decision to make. They look at the Blues team going forward and discuss whether or not they can turn it around. After, they look at the Arizona Coyotes and talk about a Jacob Chychrun extension. Alex and Chace both agree on the signing. The guys discuss what it would be like to see the Coyotes back in the playoffs. Lastly, they talk about Matt Duchene rumours. Alex thinks it makes no sense to sign him to an 8 year deal for Ottawa. He weighs the pros and cons to doing so. Tune in for all of this and more, with the MnM Hockey Podcast!
The guys are back and ready to break down the news of the week in the NHL. Todd McLellan was fired by the Edmonton Oilers and Mike Yeo was fired by the St. Louis Blues. Is this the right direction for these organizations or just band-aids to fix a bigger issue? Specifically looking at Edmonton, on the heals of the Ryan Spooner for Ryan Strome deal, the question must be asked, "When will Peter Chiarelli be fired as well?" Carl Hagelin was dealt by the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Los Angeles Kings for Tanner Pearson. Is this the move that will kickstart the Penguins? The Penguins in general have been struggling this season. What is the problem with this team and is there reason to worry? Is Matt Murray proving to not actually be good? We have a new Dart Guy! Gary Anderson claims that some smelly shenanigans were taking place in his darts match. What is the worst legal thing that can take place during a hockey game? Hello all and welcome to Thanksgiving week around the NHL. We at the Two Man Forecheck would like to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving to you and your families. The open for this week’s show brings another discussion of the topsy-turvy standings in the National Hockey League. At this point who would have said that the Penguins were basement in the East? Who would have guessed that the Kings were basement in the NHL? Or who among you would have put the Golden Knights, the NHL Stanley Cup runners up at second to last in the league? This opens up the discussion to injuries around the league and how some teams are decimated by injuries, the Bruins, Canucks and Stars to name but a few. At this point we focus on one team… The Pittsburgh Penguins are typically a perennial playoff team. This season they are hurting in the standings and, at first look, don’t have an obvious reason as to why. The team itself has not been completely done in by injury, and back up netminder Casey DeSmith has shown that he has the chops to play in the league. The defense may still be the Achilles heel of this team and we delve into possible deals that they could make to better the current squad. Would you tweak the current team or trash it and start anew? The Golden Knights are seeing the return of their number one defenseman, Nate Schmidt. Back from suspension, he should give Vegas a needed boost, and possibly help out some of the current blueliners, most notably Shea Theodore. The Oilers and Rangers have made a trade that at first glance doesn’t appear to be a win for either team. Ryan Strome will be heading to New York while Ryan Spooner will be heading north to Edmonton. Both players are close in age and statistics, so this deal may just be a new start for both men. There were other deals, Tanner Pearson to the Pens for Carl Hagelin (to L.A.). Again, this looks to be a new start for both. The Canadiens are sitting in the second wild card spot and Claude Julien’s biggest fan should be Marc Bergevin. The play of the team has taken some of the focus off the GM and placed it where it should be…the surprising success of the team. Brad Marchand appears to be shooting less this season and the stats bear this out. He is currently one shot less per game and appears to be rushing his shots when he does take them. We believe that he could possibly be gun shy due to the physical pounding he takes and the lack of calls he receives from the officials when pounded. Here we branch off momentarily to talk about the officials, but we digress… Finally, we talk about last week’s twitter poll results. Which teams would climb into a top 3 position in their division by New Year’s? Vegas and Colorado have 11% of the votes, Pittsburgh has 33% and finally, Buffalo has 45% of the votes. So far Buffalo is there. Everyone enjoy the holiday and of course…enjoy the show!

Happy Halloween!! What? You're saying that it's actually November 13th? Well it's still Halloween in my heart. But for real, your lovely, apologetic, and constantly procrastinating host, Chris Donovan is finally here to discuss the new Halloween film that came out a month ago. He's joined by his buddies Justin Beaucage and Ryan Spooner to talk about and they will take a bite out of this movie like an apple with a razor blade in it. Which one of us was disappointed by the film? Which one is a novice to the Halloween game? And which one of us has developed a crackpot theory about the making of this film? (Spoiler: that last one is me, Chris Donovan). So crack open that last bag of candy corn and listen to us dive into the biggest movie of the fall: Halloween. Not the Rob Zombie one...or the original one...the third movie to be called Halloween. Also I'm sorry about the delay, real life got in the way of me getting an episode out to you in time for Halloween. Also apologies to the podcasters in this movie because I ragged on them for not making time sensitive content and here I am uploading a Halloween review on November 13th. I'm a fool in man's shoes.

Truly a quiet week in the NHL, this week’s show reflects as much. The topics range from arbitration to trades to the future location of Lord Stanley’s cup. We start this trip in Minnesota with the signing of Matt Dumba. Avoiding arbitration, he has inked a 5 year 30-million-dollar contract. We agree that this is good for both parties going forward. We move to Winnipeg, where the first arbitration hearing has been held for defenseman Jacob Trouba. The feeling here is that he will get slightly below what Dumba will pull in, but will Matt’s deal in any way affect what Trouba gets as a result? Speaking of arbitration, we discuss the hearing schedule and the way it appears to be back loaded with stars. The feeling here is that the teams hope to avoid hearings for these players by giving them some time to work out details. Players such as William Karlsson and Ryan Spooner will have to wait to have their respective arguments heard. Coming up tomorrow the biggest name would probably be Brandon Montour, yet another defenseman that may have his numbers affected by the Dumba deal. There is one goaltender on the arbitration list, David Rittich, from Calgary. With not much of an NHL résumé, he will not be commanding huge dollars, but will he in any way affect players such as Malcolm Subban, who is in the last year of his current deal. We don’t believe this to be the case, but do you? Speaking of the Golden Knights, if you have been following the Forecheck during the season, you are aware of the ongoing trademark battle with the U.S. Army. Well, we are here to report that the battle is over. Vegas can use the trademark and will be available for use in 60 days, just in time for the new season. The Ducks have displayed on social media their throwback jersey for the upcoming 25thanniversary season, and it is something to behold. Bringing back memories from the inaugural season, the duck is back! Give it a look! While in Anaheim, we talk about Adam Henrique signing his extension, 5 years, 29 million dollars. This again is a team friendly deal that should be good for both parties going forward. In Boston, one of the foremost hockey writers, Kevin Paul Dupont, writes about Artemi Panarin coming to Boston and how good a fit it would be for the team. The issue here is what the Bruins would have to give up to get him and how that affects the line he would be on. What is your opinion? From Boston we land in Detroit and discuss the prospects that could potentially see ice time in Little Caesars Arena this fall. The belief here is that the two defensive prospects, Filip Hronek and Dennis Cholowski should be starting at the top level but Zadina and Rasmussen will probably start in Grand Rapids. There was a trade in the NHL, but no one will fault you for missing it. The Coyotes have acquired Jacob Graves and a sixth-round pick for Ryan MacInnis. Nothing too exciting here, but the Coyotes have filled their 50 contract spots. We mention the twitter poll regarding Artemi Panarin and finish up with our version of where in the world…needless to say, Lord Stanley is in Canada. Give us a listen and tell us what you think! Enjoy the show!
Joe and Mike break down the Vlad Namestnikov deal, talk about future moves, how awkward it is to be the third wheel on Erik Karlsson rumors, what to do with Ryan Spooner, Artemi Panarin and his potential long-term eyes for Broadway, a Ryan Callahan reuinion with the Rangers, and all these arbitration eligible RFAs who are waiting for their fancy new contracts. Joe, Mike, and Beth are back to talk about where the Rangers stand in the league right now, Kevin Shattenkirk for some unknown reason trying to return as soon as possible, Anthony DeAngelo getting hurt, and the showings from Vlad Nemestnikov and Ryan Spooner -- as both walk toward the summer as restricted free agents. This week VA, Nick, and Tim discuss the play of Tuukka Rask (again), Ryan Spooner, and the amazing play of the Bruins. We wrap up Habs week, compare a Bruins line to a Band/ Van Morrison collaboration, and somehow forget to mention Patrice Bergeron's hat trick. Yes, that's just how great this team is that we forget the awesomeness of Patrice Bergeron.
Mick Colageo talks with Bruins center Ryan Spooner as opening day for quickly approaches.
Welcome to the Loser's Club!! We've been looking for new members since our last few have mysteriously disappeared. The only members left are our fearless leader Chris Donovan and his buddies Justin Beaucage and Ryan Spooner. Join us as we take a trip to Derry, Maine and check out every sewer, circus, and haunted house to find the new clown show. We've heard it's a real scream! By that I mean, we're going to talk about the 2017 smash hit movie It and the Stephen King novel it is based on. I don't know, I try to get all fancy with episode descriptions because I'm weird like that.
The Bruins beat crew is back & talking expansion draft. Mike asks the question which Miller? Joe hates Miller beer so he says neither. Mike also goes to the wall for his binky David Krejci. We also talk how PK Subban is sticking it to Montreal advancing in the playoffs with the Preds. Also the Sens advance again?!
Be careful, this is where Chris Donovan and his guest Ryan Spooner come back for one last scare. Join us as we bring you through the moments we thought we had certain horror movies figured out only for them to turn the table on us in those cruical last frames. We venture inside Dr. Caligari's cabinet, book a room at the Overlook Hotel, and try to make sure we don't miss Mary Shaw's ventriloquist show on our way. Make sure you keep your wits about you for the ending of this episode because a fake-out might be coming your way. There isn't one, don't worry. Or is there?
APRIL FOOL'S!!! That's what this group of college kids keeps saying during their lovely island vacation. It's April 1st and tis the season for whoopie cushions, collapsable chairs and dribble glasses. But not everyone on the island is in a joking mood. Someone is up to something on this island and they're not playing around--or are they?? Join Chris Donovan and his guest Ryan Spooner as they share their 'WELL-th' of knowledge about this 1986 gem, April Fool's Day. You'd have to be a fool to miss this one.
On Thursday's podcast, I reacted to the latest Jimmy Garoppolo report (8:10). I also shared my thoughts on the Boston Celtics' win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, and I continued to be Isaiah Thomas' biggest defender (31:03). Plus, I praised the Boston Bruins for doing the right thing at this year's trade deadline, while crushing Ryan Spooner for whining about his old coach (21:04).
Joe Haggerty and Jimmy Murphy sit down with Boston Bruins center David Krejci to preview the upcoming season. They also ask Krejci about his new linemates Ryan Spooner and David Backes, being a more vocal leader, and making a guarantee on where the B's will be this year. Haggs and Murph also talk about impressive defensive prospect Brandon Carlo, and how he could be a big help for Zdeno Chara. Plus, could the Anaheim Ducks be a perfect trade partner for the Bruins to improve their backline?
Jason and Mike return with a big announcment for the show. Joe Gill will be the newest Bruins Beat member. On today's show Jason and Mike discuss various question marks that surround the Bruins. David Krejci and Ryan Spooner both do not seem to be happy with management. Will the Bruins trade either of them to make room for a defenseman? Jason and Mike also discuss the World Cup and how it is affecting the Bruins players in it. Last Jason and Mike make predictions as the World Cup will be starting on Saturday.
Mike and Jason return for episode 23 of Bruins Beat this week. First thing is first is they discuss the Bruins 5 game losing streak. Is the Bruins seasons coming to an end? Are they missing the playoffs for the second straight year? Tune in to see what Jason and Mike think. After talking about the Bruins and their playoff chances, Mike and Jason then begin discussing possible scenarios if they don't make the playoffs. What the fate of Claude Julien is, if Neely and Sweeney are at a crossroads, and if fans should peel back expectations of this team as a whole. Also discussed here are players who need to go whether it be released or traded and if not trading Loui Eriksson and buying at the deadline in a mistake. Mike and Jason dive deeper into this 5 game losing streak the Bruins are on to figure out the problem. Tune in here to find out which 3 players need to step up if the Bruins are going to have any chance of returning to the playoffs. The powerplay for the Bruins has lost steam. Mike and Jason discuss the impact the powerplay had on the Bruins success and on Ryan Spooner. Lastly, Mike and Jason discuss the impact of the bottom of the roster and Julien's handle on the younger players as a factor as well. Mike and Jason then break down the 2 games this week played by the Bruins. Mike and Jason react to 2 more losses by the Bruins against the Rangers and Panthers and ask the question of whether or not the Bruins quit and wilt for games. Secondly, replay has really been affecting the Bruins this year. Mike and Jason tell the NHL it is time to step up and make changes because these rules are hurting this game more than helping. Game breakdowns lead into looking at the Bruins playoff structure and the 2 teams the Bruins are battling. With Detroit and Philadelphia having games in hand, Bruins have no margin for error. Mike and Jason break down the Bruins schedule compared to their opponents and see which 2 teams have the edge. Are the Bruins going to make it? Listen in as Mike and Jason give their opinions with 2 weeks remaining. Before the show comes to an end, Mike and Jason give their predictions for the week for the Bruins against Toronto, New Jersey, and St. Louis. Are all 3 must win games? FInd out by tuning into Bruins Beat. Lastly, before the show comes to an end, Mike and Jason break down some college hockey matchups leading into the Frozen Four. For all games and more listen in to Bruins Beat!
This week we discuss the Bruins 2-1 defeat against the LA Kings, Ryan Spooner's rise to the third line and more. Jordan Caron makes an appearance. He's a horse. And he rides. We end it with the Bear Necessities and Nick singing in the dark. Enjoy! Recorded 3/20
Our new pastor, Ryan Spooner, speaks on the things we can count on as we move into a new season in the church.
Ryan Spooner sat down with DJ to discuss his over-achieving and the direction of the Bruins as the trade deadline approaches.
DJ, Pete and Ken get into the recent play of the B's and what they should be thinking as the trade deadline approaches. What direction is this team heading? This leads to a discussion on Loui Eriksson, what he brings to the table and if they should make a move. We hear DJ sit down to interview Ryan Spooner on his over achieving and his thoughts on the team's future. The guys discuss the state of the team with some callers.
DJ Bean and Ken Laird discuss Thursday's 3-2 comeback, shootout win in Buffalo as the Bruins take hold of 3rd place in the Atlantic Division
It's the holiday edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast, which is to say that it's exactly the same as all the others! Perhaps next week, when the podcast takes the week off, is the true holiday edition.. (take note: our next regular episode comes at you on January 8th). Unwanted holidays begin our show, as Elan and Brian unwrap the effects of injuries around the NHL, including a couple of tender tenders in Tampa and Detroit, a shelved blueliner also in Detroit, and infirm top six forwards in New York and St. Louis. Returns from unwanted holidays follow, with kudos being handed out to a back-to-backup goalie in Chicago, best wishes to a Bruin forward edging his way out of the doghouse, and a couple of Hurricanes whose output will likely remain limited by their locale. Then, it's on to players gone AWOL, who've taken holidays without permission or approval from anyone. The guys lament the scoresheet absences of the next best Oiler after McDavid, a bandaid boy Blue, a couple of Habs, and the Sabre who was supposed to fix everything. We put a bow on this edition by saluting those players working overtime for your fantasy team, with four Blue Jackets, three Minnesota Wild, two Calgary Flames, and a Leafs goalie on a hot streak. Players featured on this episode include Alex Wennberg, Cam Atkinson, Jordan Eberle, Mark Letestu, Matt Dumba, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Brian Elliott, Matthew Tkachuk, Frederik Andersen, Petr Mrazek, Anthony Mantha, Shea Weber, Alex Radulov, Jack Eichel, Jimmy Howard, Jared Coreau, Ben Bishop, Kristers Gudlevskis, Mike Green, Rick Nash, Kyle Palmieri, Brandon Pirri, Mika Zibanejad, Derek Stepan, Ryan Sproul, Paul Stastny, Alex Steen, Corey Crawford, Scott Darling, David Pastrnak, Ryan Spooner, Frank Vatrano, Elias Lindholm, Derek Ryan, Eddie Lack, Patrick Maroon, Leon Draisaitl, Jason Zucker, Eric Staal, Niklas Kronwall, Brian Rafalski, Cory Schneider and more. 28th Feb 2019 - This week Dan and Will look at what would happen with no trade deadline. Winning the cup/Getting relegated. Starters/Scratches (incl Sad Lundqvist, Gritty death and Radko Gudas). Then its the Trade deadline 2019 including Columbus go all in with no guarantees. Are they crazy taking on a franchise killer? Do they need a third goalie? What can the Sens do know and why would they release a calendar. They got too much for Ryan Dzingel but not enough for mark Stone. Vegas always wins. The Preds did well. Why did Wayne Simmonds go for cheap? Players wife having baby as he gets traded!! The Bruins trade a scoring sensation away again and trade for someone who was concussed by one of their own players. Doug Wilson keeps Doug Wilsoning. Will is baffled by one of the trades and doesn't understand a Capitals move. Ryan Spooner is passed around like the Christmas gravy jug. The best condition ever for a pick. The Avs win because of the Sens. The Stars get a great deal for about 40 minutes. The Rangers and Devils load up on picks. Other trade bits. Man v Coin flip and the usual guff.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-brits-1-puck/donations
Afraid you've missed a single hockey news item or note from the past week? Or that you're misreading the numbers while trying to make sense of the outlandish player performances to date? Let this brand new episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast be your antidote! Pearson-mania all over again? Matthews a top ten scorer? Is there an impressive Canuck? Is Brouwer a more interesting human being than fantasy own? Do we have a Jack Campbell sighting on the horizon? Time to panic about Panik? Jimmy How-muchlongercanhepossiblykeepthisup? Boone no longer a boon for fantasy owners? Montoya earning greater share of the starts? Elan begins by going way off script to officially anoint the heir of his hashtag-team allegiance for this season, and then gets to a welcome group of outjuries that are shaking up depth charts, including a new opportunity for a returned St Louis Blue, and a way out of the doghouse for a Boston Bruin. Then it's over to injuries, where we draw particular attention to a new second-best power play option in Pittsburgh, weak goalie depth in Arizona and LA. Taking a tour of hot streaks around the league, Elan and Brian work to figure out when two overachieving Blackhawks may come down to earth, whether a Detroit blue-liner has hope of regaining his form of yesteryear, which ice time distribution quirks are favouring which Hurricanes, and whether Huberdeau's replacement in Florida is earning his keep on the top line. Elan also gets pretty sad about not having enough patience for a certain Leaf centreman to contribute to his roster, and gets very un-sad about a second line centre in Colorado. The guys also examine the meaning of roster moves made in Columbus and Anaheim, and line changing madness happening in Calgary, Nashville and New Jersey-- the last of which has Elan wondering whether there's more than one fantasy relevant Devil to be owned. The show wraps up with some early snoozer candidates, including this year's edition of a quality winger struggling in Vancouver, a non-Okposo in Brooklyn, a couple goalies struggling in Canadian creases, and an Atlantic PPQB with nothing to show for his efforts. Players discussed on this episode include Carey Price, Richard Panik, Auston Matthews, Jimmy Howard, Tanner Pearson, Zach Werenski, Shayne Gostisbehere, Mike Green, Jaden Schwartz, David Perron, Nail Yakupov, Patrice Bergeron, Ryan Spooner, Michael Stone, Alex Goligoski, Brayden Schenn, Matt Read, Tanner Pearson, Mike Smith, Louis Domingue, Justin Peters, Jeff Zatkoff, Peter Budaj, Jack Campbell, Patrick Sharp, Ales Hemsky, Brett Ritchie, Radek Faksa, Justin Schultz, Marc-Andre Fleury, Brian Campbell, Duncan Keith, Jonathan Marchessault, Lee Stempniak, Victor Rask, Jeff Skinner, Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen, Elias Lindholm, Alex Killorn, Petr Mrazek, Nazem Kadri, Kari Lehtonen, Sergey Bobrovsky, William Nylander, Mitch Marner, Matt Duchene, Mikhail Grigorenki, Mikko Rantanen, Shea Theodore, Brandon Carlo, Torey Krug, Cam Fowler, Sami Vatanen, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Boone Jenner, Johnny Boychuk, Kris Versteeg, Troy Brouwer, Viktor Arvidsson, Kevin Fiala, TJ Brodie, Brian Elliott, Frederik Andersen, Loui Eriksson, Brandon Sutter, Andrew Ladd and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! Two sleeps until the NHL regular season begins, but the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast is already in full swing with a new episode jam-packed with all of the latest hockey news and fantasy spin. We start with two awful real-life injuries that have an urgent fantasy impact, suggesting which Penguins and Panthers may get or take a bump while Crosby and Huberdeau are on the shelf. Then, Elan and Brian turn their attention to the NHL's waiver wire, where 3 more-than-serviceable players sit after being surprisingly let go in advance of the season opener. In particular, Brian plays the role of wet blanket to perfection by doubting whether Ondrej Pavelec's waiving means clear skies ahead for Hellebuyck, and also provides his dream scenario for P.A. Parenteau in 2016-17. The guys then roll through some of the season's newest Calder Trophy candidates as news trickles out of which prospects are making their teams out of camp, with stops in Philadelphia, Chicago, Anaheim, Toronto, Columbus and Montreal. Finally, we share all the opening night line combos we've seen and mine them for hints at fantasy fortunes in the year ahead, zeroing in on a top-line winger in Detroit, a questionable piece in Ottawa's top six, an expected shift in Chicago, a rising youngster in Boston, and a multi-generational combo in Arizona. And still, there's more! The Yakupov trade, how to handle injured players, whether to trade for injured players, RFA situations, last-minute IR stashes, pre-season scoring leaders.. and tons more info that'll give you the early upper-hand in your fantasy pool as we head into the season. For the first time ever, this most recent episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast was recorded live! This week's show kicked off with a look at a couple of likely fantasy free agent top six wingers who can help your fantasy team down the stretch, so long as they can hold on to the coattails of their respective superstar centremen.Elan and Brian then moved on to locating the hottest streaks around the league, pinpointing players in Minnesota's top six and on Ottawa's blue line, as well as taking note of Philadelphia's left-wing depth, an unleashed Toronto centre, and a Hurricane who is producing despite playing on what must be their third line.We also looked at shifting lineups around the league and the subsequent opportunities that have become available, inlcuding an unlikely goal-scorer in New York, a top line rookie in New Jersey, and de facto depth chart climbing d-man in Calgary. And finally, the show wraps up with a Lightning Round in which we take questions from our live studio audience. We'd love to hear your thoughts about this episode-- would you like to hear live shows more often? The NHL regular season is 80% done and the fantasy regular season is even further along, meaning there's no better time to check out the 55th weekly edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! The run of injuries to star players sadly continues, and Elan and Brian are here to tell you how to best offset the losses incurred to your fantasy lineup. The guys explain what the absences of blue-liners in Calgary, Winnipeg and Dallas mean for your roster going forward, and touch on the thud-like exclamation point on a sophomore slumper's season. As the post-season draws nearer, your fantasy focus should be shifting ever more towards the short-term. With that in mind, we offer a few suggestions for some high-producing, low %owned players that could lend you a hand over their next handful of games. Also, now that we've had some games played since this week's NHL trade deadline, we run down the first notable performances from players who have changed addresses. This show also takes a look at developing goaltending situations in Calgary and Anaheim. And finally, we share some of our own strategic fantasy tips for getting the most out of your lineup. One point can make or break a season's worth of work, so we'll tell you how to cleverly manage roster moves, free agent pickups, and player schedules in your post-season matchups.Players discussed on this episode include Mark Giordano, T.J. Like a new baby being born into the world, Elan and Brian are pushing out a brand new episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! This week's show begins by sizing up most impactful and relevant players who've flown the coop since the trade deadline, and the players they may have displaced. This includes a visit to Washington and St. Louis's even strength and powerplay blueline setups, the blue paint situations for the Lightning and Kings, the top nine in Minnesota and Boston, defensive depth in Pittsburgh, and a couple floaters in Ottawa. The guys then shed light on those who've come out bruised and/or battered, including Florida's sort-of-but-not-so-much-anymore #1 goalie, a Devil we know, a Sabre that had just gotten rolling, and a Star that never really had a chance. We also pontificate on the healthy return of an Isle blueliner. Some players are hot this week! They include a lower-key sophomore and a once again promising forward in Buffalo, a couple Taylor Hall linemates, a Habs goalie who may also just be considered as being back to normal, a Flames goalie who we wonder whether this might be his normal, and a Calgary d-man who we wish it still could be his normal. Some players are cold this week. They include a top six Penguin who otherwise looks fantastic, a sobering season by a Coyotes defenseman that has cut back on taking shots, a Canes blueliner still taking shots but not getting anywhere, a New York top six/niner who has lost his early season sheen, and a couple of Avs forwards whose performances personify the mess in Colorado.Players discussed on this episode include Jonathan Quick, Ben Bishop, Peter Budaj, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Martin Hanzal, Kevin Shattenkirk, John Carlson, Matt Niskanen, Alex Pietrangelo, Colton Parayko, Alex Steen, Mark Streit, Connor Sheary, Chris Kunitz, Sidney Crosby, Patric Hornqvist, Valtteri Filppula, Steve Mason, Drew Stafford, Michal Neuvirth, Ryan Spooner, Frank Vatrano, Alex Burrows, Viktor Stalberg, Roberto Luongo, James Reimer, Thomas Vanek, Kyle Okposo, Evander Kane, Ryan O'Reilly, Jack Eichel, Michael Cammalleri, Travis Zajac, Kyle Palmieri, Taylor Hall, Antoine Roussel, Jason Spezza, Jiri Hudler, Ales Hemsky, Travis Hamonic, Josh Ho-Sang, Nate Prosser, Nick Leddy, Johnny Boychuk, Carey Price, Alex Radulov, Brian Elliott, Michael Ferland, Mark Giordano, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Mike Smith, Louis Domingue, Justin Faulk, Jacob Slavvin, Brett Pesce, Noah Hanifin, Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, Mika Zibanejad and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! Cross your heart and say your prayers, it's another cuss-free episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! This week, Elan and Brian are feeling just peachy about the healthy returns of an apparent #1 goalie and a top line winger in Detroit, the apparently brief return of the Ducks' #1 goalie, and the hopefully fruitful return of a top line Canadien. But doggone it, even more players are off to the infirmary this week. The guys talk about the lineup and fantasy implications of injuries to a Metro starting goalie who was probably in need of rest anyway, a laundry list of Penguins, a struggling Panthers blueliner, a couple key pieces of Ottawa's top six, and a few key pieces of Tampa Bay's top nine. Bless the players whose production we can be thankful for, including a non-squeaky wheel in Philadelphia, several nondescript forwards in Carolina, a promoted hitter in Washington, a pair of persisting depth scorers in Columbus, and one of this year's stealthier breakouts. And, of course, we trust the hockey gods will shepherd back those players who may have lost their way, including a number one goalie not living up to his elite billing, and a King who is struggling far more than we'd anticipated. Players discussed on this episode include Jimmy Howard, Petr Mrazek, Gustav Nyquist, Henrik Zetterberg, James Reimer, Steve Mason, Sami Vatanen, Patrik Eaves, Ryan Getzlaf, John Gibson, Jonathan Bernier, Jhonas Enroth, Rickard Rakell, Alex Radulov, Henrik Lundqvist, Antti Raanta, Magnus Hellberg, Jake Guentzel, Connor Sheary, Patric Hornqvist, Carl Hagelin, Aaron Ekblad, Michael Matheson, Jason Demers, Jaromir Jagr, Jonathan Marchessault, Thomas Vanek, Jussi Jokinen, Reilly Smith, Kyle Turris, J.G. For the still alive and the walking dead alike, Elan and Brian bring you the fantasy spin on all the latest NHL news in a brand new episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! During your fantasy playoffs, players on the shelf can decrease your team's shelf life. The guys offer a multitude of ways to fight back against the injury ninja, including a new top line centreman and rookie winger in Chicago, a tenuously successful temporary starter in Anaheim, a blue chip defensive prospect with a bit of an opening in Winnipeg, and the latest whatshisname to skate with the Joes in San Jose. In this week's outjuries, we continue to wonder about one top six Penguin but are ready to cease wondering about another, wish for a connection that likely won't be in Washington while also celebrating their leading goal-scorer, increase the mentions per 60 of a Bruins top-niner, and fret over how low Boston's goaltending can go. This edition's hot streaks include a Professor Frink catchphrase, "Brian's Favourite Goalie", the other #66, a top nine Lightning player making the most of his ascendance to the top three, a Panther that we totally told you to let go of, the return to form of a Calder candidate defenseman, and a category-filling blueliner in the desert. For cold streaks, we visit the forward corps and goaltending in Minnesota, as well as a recently elite Flyer who has seen a bump down in deployment. In the more serious category of Snoozers, you might want to consider giving up on a Sabre that has been removed from a plum assignment and an Avalanche that is.. well, an Avalanche. Brian has a few final players in his mind, including a couple dormant forwards coming to life in Detroit, a vivacious but now dormant forward in Los Angeles, and a young goalie who is losing ground in his case to take over his team's starter job. Players discussed on this episode include Artem Anisimov, Nick Schmaltz, John Hayden, Scott Darling, Corey Crawford, Jonathan Bernier, Rikard Rakell, Josh Morrissey, Jacob Trouba, Nik Ehlers, Blake Wheeler, Kyle Turris, Mark Borowiecki, Timo Meier, Tomas Hertl, Jake Guentzel, Conor Sheary, Sidney Crosby, Patric Hornqvist, Evgeni Malkin, Matt Murray, Andre Burakovsky, TJ Oshie, Ryan Spooner, Tuukka Rask, Jaccob Slavin, Eddie Lack, Cam Ward, Joshua Ho-Sang, Brayden Point, Thomas Vanek, Zack Werenski, Jaromir Jagr, Mark Stone, Jannik Hansen, Bobby Ryan, Jamie Benn, Jason Spezza, Alex Ovechkin, Marcus Johansson, Jeff Skinner, Jakob Chychrun, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Morgan Rielly, Matt Dumba, Eric Staal, Mikael Granlund, Mikko Koivy, Jason Pominville, Zach Parise, Devan Dubnyk, Jakub Voracek, Ivan Provorov, Sam Reinhart, Tyler Ennis, Gabriel Landeskog, Dylan Larkin, Tanner Pearson, Tyler Toffoli, Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar, Juuse Saros, and Andreas Athanasiou. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! Good morning-- and if we don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night! Rather than their usual Sunday evening schedule, Elan and Brian go straight from their morning coffee to breaking down the biggest fantasy news and impacts of the week on this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast, which results in at least one take that has aged very poorly in the 12 hours between recording and releasing this episode. Our first take of the show, however, is evergreen, as we look at a Shark swimming towards point-per-game status and some of the supporting cast he's working with. We also argue about whether a contract can ever be considered good even when all signs pointed to it being bad at the moment it was signed. We then talk about broken thumb recovery times, a pair of pretty boring trades unlikely to have a whole lot of fantasy impact, some Devils doing uncharacteristic things, some Avalanche players playing out some uncharacteristically cold strings, the newest lucky guy to be playing with the league's best scorer, a rising figure on the Philadelphia blueline, a surprising closeness between the value of two Hurricanes forwards, and a whole lot more. Players discussed on this episode include Erik Karlsson, Kevin Labanc, Joe Thornton, Joonas Donskoi, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Evander Kane, David Pastrnak, Danton Heinen, Jake DeBrusk, Tuukka Rask, Jaroslav Halak, Kevin Boyle, Ryan Miller, Justin Schultz, Patric Hornqvist, Nico Hischier, Marcus Johansson, Jesper Bratt, Kyle Palmieri, Cory Schneider, Devan Dubnyk, Corey Crawford, Collin Delia, Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli, Cam Talbot, Anthony Stolarz, Brian Elliott, Mikko Koskinen, Carter Hart, Ryan Spooner, Sam Gagner, Oscar Klefbom, Darnell Nurse, Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog, Tyson Barrie, Nikita Kucherov, Yanni Gourde, Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat, J.T. On this episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fanasy Hockey Podcast, Elan and Brian debate whether Tom Wilson is or isn't a good guy, whether Mike Hoffman's points outweigh his 'locker room' effects, and whether you should gloat on twitter via infinite retweeting when you might not even be right about Max Domi. But it's chock full of fantasy hockey stuff too, of course! We revise our projections for a couple Flyers forwards (including an early projection concession from Brian), consider the value of Tampa Bay's leading point-getter, figure out what to do with some of those pesky guys we're still waiting on in Anaheim and Vegas, and plenty more. There's also an explanation of how you, too, can bring the #FillyHeat. Shoutout to the @avgtimeonice crew for being the architects of the next big thing. And also shoutout to @klingbergian for this week's episode title. Join our Fanduel Weekly Listener League-- note that it's on Wednesday this week! Sign-up opens Wednesday around 10am ET. On this episode of the Keeping Karlsson Hockey Podcast, we take advantage of a short holiday-mandated lull in action to shed all kinds of light on how Elan and Brian are faring in their Audio Almanac player projections at the near-halfway point of the 2018-19 NHL season. Elan's on vacation, but Brian is joined by Alma-maniac and KKUPFL tracker extraordinare Marcas to revel/wallow in the most/least accurate pre-season player point projections thus far. The Average Time On Ice crew-- Ben, Jade and Lewis-- also get in on the fun as we all try to figure out what went right, wrong or completely sideways for our crystal ball hits and misses. After that, Brian takes us through some of the bigger news items of the past week from around the league, and Marcas helps take stock of which players are helping their KKUPFL owners the most at this point of the season. Follow Marcas on twitter @MOCallanain. Follow the Average Time On Ice crew @avgtimeonice, and read their analysis and musings over at https://averagetimeonice.wordpress.com. Injuries may have decimated Ottawa, and the guys begin by seeing how it may impact the able bodied players who can still take the ice. They also tip their cap to a couple d-men who've swapped an IR spot in Pittsburgh, and consider whether Claude Julien can bring a staggering Habs roster back to life. Then, a hotly anticipated rookie who couldn't impress at this season's outset is back for another kick at the can in Columbus, while teammates around him alternately slump and awaken. Outjuries double as snoozers, as the merits of activating or jettisoning a returning centreman in Dallas and a blueliner in Anaheim are debated, with a healthy but quiet-til-now Panthers defenseman thrown in for good measure. Meanwhile, the debate over whether a certain Ducks forward can maintain a 55+ point pace appears all but settled, and new lines in Anaheim lead to a depth chart search for fantasy value outside of the usual suspects. In hot streaks, Brian thinks Elan's feeling confident about one Canuck too many. The segment also features a couple Coyotes forwards and defensemen are helpful for as long as they remain in the desert, an entire line reigniting a pretty great even-strength run in Detroit, an assist-happy Blue who Brian prefers as a goal-scorer, a 60+ point scorer starting to maybe look like one again, a doghouse escapee in Boston, Brent freaking Burns, and Elan pining over vintage Zetterberg. Goalies get some time in the spotlight, including thoughts on why the Blues goalies are suddenly keeping the red lamp from being lit, a Philadelphia goalie whose only hot in the category of 'games started', an apparently reliable Western Conference goalie who could be spelling his starter more often, an emerging title change in Florida, and a struggling Isles tender with rough waters ahead. Also, what the heck should you do with a couple struggling Jets as they enter their bye weeks? And which Jet forward should you pick up when they hit the ice again? Players discussed on this episode include Mark Stone, Kris Letang, Bo Horvat, Henrik Zetterberg, Alex Galchenyuk, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jaden Schwartz, Martin Hanzal, Zach Werenski, Michal Neuvirth, Oscar Klefbom, Jordan Eberle, Thomas Greiss, Aaron Dell, Nikolaj Ehlers, Ryan Spooner, Petr Mrazek, Mike Hoffman, Bobby Ryan, Brad Marchand, Max Pacioretty, Ryan Dzingel, Zack Smith, Curtis Lazar, Erik Karlsson, Craig Anderson, Mike Condon, Justin Schultz, Chris Kunitz, Jake Guentzel, Carl Hagelin, Shea Weber, Jeff Petry, Brendan Gallagher, Carey Price, Brandon Saad, Brandon Dubinsky, Jason Spezza, Patrick Sharp, Sami Vatanen, Radek Faksa, Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Brent Burns, Rikard Rakell, Aaron Ekblad, Nick Ritchie, Ondrej Kase, Alex Edler, Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Troy Stecher, Radim Vrbata, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Michael Stone, Alex Goligoski, Tomas Tatar, Anthony Mantha, Jake Allen, Carter Hutton, Steve Mason, Leon Draisaitl, Andrej Sekera, Mark Letestu, Mark Scheifele, Patrick Laine, Mathieu Perreault and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes!
