It's another make or break week, and so we make another episode that breaks all the latest fantasy hockey news on the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! In Outjuries, Elan and Brian delve into the fantasy impact of a return of a top line forward in Buffalo and the suspension of a key blueline cog, as well as temper immediate expectations from a high end Sen, consider upside versus steadiness on the Jets back end, speculate on how two healthy goalies will be rotated in both New Yorks, and lavish 2/3 of Tampa's top line with praise. Recent call-ups also get coverage here, as the guys fiure out what can be expected from two of the newest NHLers in Vancouver and Arizona. In Injuries, the Crosby line is hurting badly and looking for replacements, the Leafs may regret letting go of a crease replacement, the Bruins may have to turn to a career backup to carry them down the stretch, we neither endorse nor disapprove of potential moves for a Panthers forward, we get sad about the Stars, and dear god the St Louis depth chart is thin. In Hot Streaks, we look for value in the 5-game weeks coming for Nashville and Carolina, give a lukewarm kudos to a young New Jersey centreman, and set the record straight on our feelings about Leon Draisaitl. In Cold Streaks, there are a lot of guys that you'd never consider dropping earlier this year, but with just a week or two left, is there even a point to hanging onto them? This segment pays visits to slumpers in Columbus, Montreal, Buffalo, Colorado, Anaheim, Minnesota and Philadelphia. And all those goalies who blew it this week? We try to figure out if they'll do it to you all over again if given the chance. The episode once again ends with tributes to the fantasy teams we've lost along the way. Players discussed on this episode include Kyle Okposo, Jack Eichel, Jaroslav Halak, Thomas Greiss, Brayden Point, Nikita Kucherov, Dmitry Kulikov, Mark Stone, Carey Price, Richard Panik, Erik Karlsson, Kris Russell, Jacob Trouba, Dustin Byfuglien, Josh Morrissey, Evander Kane, Ryan O'Reilly, Mathieu Perreault, Bryan Little, Dan Girardi, Henrik Lundqvist, Antti Raanta, Vladislav Namestnikov, Martin Jones, Corey Crawford, Thomas Greiss, JF Berube, Andrew Ladd, Brock Boeser, Clayton Keller, Bryan Rust, Chris Kunitz, Connor Sheary, Frederik Andersen, Curtis McElhinney, Jhonas Enroth, Anton Khudobin, Tuukka Rask, Paul Stastny, Jaden Schwartz, Alex Steen, Jaromir Jagr, Jonathan Marchessault, Patrick Sharp, Adam Cracknell, Ales Hemsky, Aaron Dell, Sebastian Aho, Elias Lindholm, Philip Di Giuseppe, Teuvo Teravainen, Eddie Lack, Craig Smith, Colin Wilson, Ryan Ellis, Calle Jarnkrok, Pavel Zacha, Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid, Patrick Maroon, Eric Staal, Nick Foligno, Gabriel Landeskog, Cam Fowler, Sami Vatanen, Ryan Kesler, Corey Perry, Ryan Suter, Jakub Voracek and more.   * * *   Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes!   If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson.    Keeping Karlsson patrons can join our patron-only Facebook group and take part in (and receive audio from) a monthly live, face-to-face and interactive Keeping Karlsson recording!   You can also support us by telling a friend, subscribing to and reviewing Keeping Karlsson on iTunes, and following us on Twitter (@keepingkarlsson). Injuries may have decimated Ottawa, and the guys begin by seeing how it may impact the able bodied players who can still take the ice. They also tip their cap to a couple d-men who've swapped an IR spot in Pittsburgh, and consider whether Claude Julien can bring a staggering Habs roster back to life. Then, a hotly anticipated rookie who couldn't impress at this season's outset is back for another kick at the can in Columbus, while teammates around him alternately slump and awaken. Outjuries double as snoozers, as the merits of activating or jettisoning a returning centreman in Dallas and a blueliner in Anaheim are debated, with a healthy but quiet-til-now Panthers defenseman thrown in for good measure. Meanwhile, the debate over whether a certain Ducks forward can maintain a 55+ point pace appears all but settled, and new lines in Anaheim lead to a depth chart search for fantasy value outside of the usual suspects.  In hot streaks, Brian thinks Elan's feeling confident about one Canuck too many. The segment also features a couple Coyotes forwards and defensemen are helpful for as long as they remain in the desert, an entire line reigniting a pretty great even-strength run in Detroit, an assist-happy Blue who Brian prefers as a goal-scorer, a 60+ point scorer starting to maybe look like one again, a doghouse escapee in Boston, Brent freaking Burns, and Elan pining over vintage Zetterberg. Goalies get some time in the spotlight, including thoughts on why the Blues goalies are suddenly keeping the red lamp from being lit, a Philadelphia goalie whose only hot in the category of 'games started', an apparently reliable Western Conference goalie who could be spelling his starter more often, an emerging title change in Florida, and a struggling Isles tender with rough waters ahead. Also, what the heck should you do with a couple struggling Jets as they enter their bye weeks? And which Jet forward should you pick up when they hit the ice again? Players discussed on this episode include Mark Stone, Kris Letang, Bo Horvat, Henrik Zetterberg, Alex Galchenyuk, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jaden Schwartz, Martin Hanzal, Zach Werenski, Michal Neuvirth, Oscar Klefbom, Jordan Eberle, Thomas Greiss, Aaron Dell, Nikolaj Ehlers, Ryan Spooner, Petr Mrazek, Mike Hoffman, Bobby Ryan, Brad Marchand, Max Pacioretty, Ryan Dzingel, Zack Smith, Curtis Lazar, Erik Karlsson, Craig Anderson, Mike Condon, Justin Schultz, Chris Kunitz, Jake Guentzel, Carl Hagelin, Shea Weber, Jeff Petry, Brendan Gallagher, Carey Price, Brandon Saad, Brandon Dubinsky, Jason Spezza, Patrick Sharp, Sami Vatanen, Radek Faksa, Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Brent Burns, Rikard Rakell, Aaron Ekblad, Nick Ritchie, Ondrej Kase, Alex Edler, Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Troy Stecher, Radim Vrbata, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Michael Stone, Alex Goligoski, Tomas Tatar, Anthony Mantha, Jake Allen, Carter Hutton, Steve Mason, Leon Draisaitl, Andrej Sekera, Mark Letestu, Mark Scheifele, Patrick Laine, Mathieu Perreault and more. Elan and Brian are back on their respective mics for a 43rd episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast.Buffalo is flying high and the Blue Jackets are red hot, prompting Elan and Brian to quibble about the updated fantasy outlooks of their goal-scorers and goaltenders. The guys also look at a couple shifting blue lines, and add yet another name to consider for the ever-growing top tiers of fantasy defencemen. Coaching changes in Ottawa, goaltending in Chicago, and an under-the-radar Jet round out this week's fantasy headlines. In players of note, the guys discuss the long-awaited emergence of a top St. Louis forward, the potential return to relevance for a nearly-forgotten goal scorer, and the concern of impending decline for a future hall-of-famer. Yet another Panther makes the list as he looks to definitively break a "slump" that's lasted more than an entire season, while a centerman in the West has broken out of a slump that was much smaller in length but not in fantasy impact.Elan and Brian also strike through a few goalies quickly in the lightning round before tagging two sagging forwards with the snoozer label.Players discussed on this week's show include Jhonas Enroth, Tyler Ennis, Sergei Bobrovsky, Scott Hartnell, Brandon Dubinsky, Jack Johnson, James Wisniewski, Boone Jenner, Kris Letang, Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug, Dougie Hamilton, Mika Zibanejad, Mike Hoffman, Bobby Ryan, Chris Phillips, Mikael Granlund, Alex Killorn, Evander Kane, Mathieu Perreault, Mark Scheifele, Michael Hutchinson, Ondrej Pavelec, Scott Darling, Antti Raanta, T.J. Hot streaks carry the rest of the main show, as we circle back to a minor league call-up in St Louis that we zoomed past last week, a trio of Isles who may be feeling some of the weight lifted off of their shoulders since a coaching change, a New Jersey forward who is very quietly on pace to post the best numbers of his career, a Colorado rookie finally hitting the scoresheets, a Sabres forward who's clicking and ticking most of his boxes on a new line, a Panthers defenseman who looks to lead the blueline down the homestretch, and a Columbus centreman taking a run at reclaiming his depth value. A wonky internet connection can't hold us back-- the 45th episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast is out!On this episode, Elan and Brian look at the re-emergence of a castoff in the Arizona crease, the Devils coaching change and how it might affect your willingness to have New Jersey players on your roster, and the addition of Derek Roy to the Edmonton Oilers.Brian also explains the concept of Quality Starts, and how it can help you make strategic goaltending decisions when it comes to deciding on whether to protect or go after your goalie categories. We also bust the mind-boggling myth that Patrick Sharp isn't doing alright, and shine a light on a couple Preds and Blue Jackets who are also doing just fine for themselves these days, thank you very much. A ton of players who've got about 20 points in about 32 games happen to come up all at once, and the guys do their best to find the differences between them and their outlooks for the rest of the season. And, of course, we catch a defenseman snoozin' on an otherwise-successful team.Players discussed on this episode include Devan Dubnyk, Mike Smith, Darcy Kuemper, Jake Allen, Jaromir Jagr, Michael Ryder, Damien Brunner, Evander Kane, Patric Hornqvist, Derrick Pouliot, Simon Despres, Cory Schneider, Patrick Sharp, Ryan Callahan, Mark Arcobello, Derek Roy, Scott Hartnell, Jeremy Morin, Nick Foligno, Jordan Staal, Eric Staal, Mike Fisher, Colin Wilson, Craig Smith, Mike Ribeiro, Tyler Bozak, Nick Foligno, Matt Duchene, Kris Versteeg, Cam Ward, Brian Campbell, Mathieu Perreault, Mark Scheifele, Chris Thorburn, Anton Khudobin, Nick Leddy, Johnny Boychuk, and more.If you enjoy the show, please support us by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. Keeping Karlsson patrons can join our patron-only Facebook group, take part in (and receive audio from) a monthly live Keeping Karlsson broadcast, and have their fantasy team personally audited by us every month-- learn more about supporting the show here. You can also support us by telling a friend, subscribing to and reviewing Keeping Karlsson on iTunes, and following us on Twitter (@keepingkarlsson). We are officially at the halfway mark of the regular season, and the 46th episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast is designed to help you make sure you're in midseason form.Elan and Brian take you through the biggest fantasy news of the week, leading off with our take on whether David Perron will prosper in his new Pittsburgh home, and which Penguins will feel the effects of his arrival on the depth chart. Injuries and outjuries in Chicago, Toronto, and St. Louis also get coverage, as well as a detailed outline of the rough road ahead for Toronto and the inevitable regression of a very fast starter in St. Louis. Also, Paul Stastny's doing stuff! We then move onto goalies, where Brian opens up about the soul-searching that's led him to consider (re-)adding a goalie to our top tier, and recommends a surging 'tender who's waking up from a season-long slump.Elan brings back last season's ever-popular Sustainable or Fleeting game, where he and Brian run down several hot hands and work through the evidence to decide whether they'll keep cracking or flame out. The segment includes a suprising new d-man in Columbus, a we-should've-known forward in LA, an actual Flame, an efficient Red Wing, and a Keeping Karlsson favourite in (of course) Winnipeg. We also quickly run through three players who suddenly find themselves in fortunate positions on their team's top lines, and discuss who's likely to make the most of their opportunity. The episode's penultimate segment is our patented lightning round, featuring a blue chip G prospect, a barely-relevant defenseman, and the NHL's most quietly efficient even-strength goal-scorer. And finally, we close off with a snoozer that Pierre McGuire was wrong about.Players discussed on this episode include David Perron, Evgeni Malkin, Steve Downie, Kris Versteeg, Joffrey Lupul, Teuvo Teravainen, Patrick Sharp, Nazem Kadri, Peter Holland, Jonathan Bernier, Jaden Schwartz, Jori Lehtera, Paul Stastny, Carey Price, Kari Lehtonen, Colton Sceviour, Josh Bailey, Danny Briere, Johnny Gaudreau, Kevin Connauton, Jimmy Hayes, Vincent Lecavalier, Mathieu Perreault, Anze Kopitar, Tomas Tatar, Andrey Vasilevskiy, James van Riemsdyk, Nick Bonino, Jamie McBain, Mike Hoffman, and more.If you enjoy the show, please support us by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. The 48th edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey show sees Elan and Brian trying to go into the All Star Break on a positive note. Our headlines kick off with a terrible, horrible, no-good very bad injury to one of the league's most exciting players of the last 2 months, caused by one of the league's least relevant and under-talented regular skaters of the last several years. I guess we're a little upset about it? We also cover a returning d-man in Winnipeg, goalie creases in Nashville, Montreal, and New Jersey, and a couple outjuried scorers for the Predators and Coyotes. We give our takes on the Dubnyk trade, and what it means for several other goalies not even named Dubnyk, as well as the latest batch of forwards making surprise appearanceson top scoring lines and in box scores. In another round of Sustainable or Fleeting, Elan and Brian take on a couple Oilers finding chemistry(?), a faded Star showing flashes of scoring brilliance, the Senators' second-best rookie, and a top line that has finally started playing like one.Players of note this week include a healthy scratch who leads his team in goal-scoring, a winger who consistently transcends his sidekick designation, a record-setting workhorse goalie, and yet another Florida Panther. The show rounds off with our quickest Lightning Round ever, featuring brief updates on a sputtering rookie D, an understated forward finding his game again, and one of  three Zajacs in the Devils organization.Players discussed on this episode include Mathieu Perreault, Devan Dubnyk, Pekka Rinne, Carter Hutton, Marek Mazanec, Toby Enstrom, Evander Kane, James Neal, Martin Hanzal, Travis Zajac, Clarke MacArthur, Carey Price, Cory Schneider, Braden Holtby, Dustin Tokarski, Keith Kinkaid,  Martin Hanzal, Darcy Kuemper, Colin Wilson, David Backes, Mike Fisher, James Neal, Filip Forsberg, Matt Beleskey, Sami Vatanen, Bryan Bickell, Patrick Sharp, Riley Sheahan, Alex Steen, Ryan Callahan, Josh Bailey, Nicklas Backstrom, Martin Brodeur, Josh Harding, Mark Stone, Derek Roy, Ales Hemsky, Benoit Pouliot, TJ Oshie, Mikkel Boedker, Kyle Palmieri, Kyle Okposo, Jonathan Huberdeau, and more.If you enjoy the show, please support us by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. Keeping Karlsson patrons can join our patron-only Facebook group and take part in (and receive audio from) a monthly live Keeping Karlsson broadcast! You can also support us by telling a friend, subscribing to and reviewing Keeping Karlsson on iTunes, and following us on Twitter (@keepingkarlsson). It's the second annual Chanukwanzaasmas edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast, and you know what that means: zero holiday references and the same pure, mostly unadulterated fantasy hockey discussion and analysis that you've come to expect from two guys who own Erik Karlsson in their keeper pools. Our 44th episode kicks off with headlines upon headlines, where we discuss the untimely slump of a recently-annointed top-tier defenseman, the debatable suckiness of a pre-season goalie favourite, three injuries in the crease and the opportunities they might offer to some unheralded tenders, the decimated blue-lines in Pittsburgh and Winnipeg, the ups and downs of an early Calder favourite, a coaching change in Edmonton, line shuffling in Dallas, and the ungraceful falls of some over-achieving goalies. We then have a short discussion on the merits of owning players who only contribute to a single peripheral category, and also bring up a team full of buy-low opportunities that could bear fruit for years to come if you act right this minute. In players of note, Elan and Brian give credit to an understated superstar, warn of a top-100 player whose point pace is slipping, address the questions they constantly get about trading away a goal-scoring star, and shout out an always under-the-radar but still effective depth scorer. The show rounds off with a snoozer from Elan, and a couple of sub-categorized snoozers from Brian, including a tribute to a former fantasy stalwart riding off into the sunset.Players discussed on this episode include Andrei Vasilevskiy, Steve Mason, Victor Hedman, Cory Schneider, Christian Ehrhoff, Olli Maatta, Simon Despres, Brian Dumoulin, Scott Harrington, Derrick Pouliot, Jacob Trouba, Keith Kinkaid, Tobias Enstrom, Paul Postma, Grant Clitsome, Dustin Byfuglien, Jonathan Drouin, Taylor Hall, Vladimir Tarasenko, Brett Connolly, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Peter Mrazek, Rob Zepp, Ray Emery, Justin Schultz, Eddie Lack, Ryan Miller, Kari Ramo, Jonas Hiller, Jonas Enroth, Mathieu Perreault, Mark Scheifele, Alex Edler, Matt Martin, Josh Gorges, Darcy Kuemper, Cody Eakin, Jason Spezza, Erik Cole, Alex Goligoski, Trevor Daley, Nicklas Backstrom, Justin Williams, Brayden Schenn, Jason Pominville, Tyler Toffoli, Roman Josi, Shea Weber, and Tomas Vokoun. If you enjoy the show, please support us by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. Next, they dig into the first week's most tantalizing performances, rolling through a list of the vets, rookies and tweeners who are scoring above a point-per-game pace at this early stage, and making the call on whether they're 'add now!!'s or wait-and-sees.  Elan and Brian then go over a handful of injuries, specifically speculating on what the heck might happen in LA's crease. A discussion of players on cold streaks-- or, well, whatever you'd call guys who are scoreless in back to back games to start the season-- rounds out the show. Players discussed on this episode include Connor McDavid, Brad Marchand, Auston Matthews, Jonathan Marchesseault, David Pastrnak, Richard Panik, Joe Colborne, Leon Draisaitl, Paul Stastny, Nail Yakupov, the STL D corps, Erik Karlsson, Zack Smith, Chris Kreider, Pavel Buchnevich, Rick Nash, Mika Zibanejad, Patrick Laine, Mark Scheifele, Aleksander Barkov, Jaromir Jagr, Mitch Marner, Nazem Kadri, Oscar Klefbom, Andrej Sekera, Jake Gardiner, Nikita Zaitsev, every other Leaf, Blake Wheeler, Nik Ehlers, Mathieu Perreault, Jarome Iginla, Matt Duchene, Martin Hanzal, Radim Vrbata, Christian Dvorak, Jonathan Quick, Jeff Zatkoff, Peter Budaj, Ryan O'Reilly, Kyle Okposo, PA Parenteau, Taylor Hall, Travis Zajac, Kris Versteeg, Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, Daniel Tkachuk, Rickard Rakell, Jakob Silfverberg, Nick Ritchie, Cam Fowler, Devin Setoguchi, Jeff Carter, Dwight King, Seth Griffith, Teemu Pulkkinen, Mike Condon, Tomas Vanek, Sean Couturier, Bradyen Schenn, Zach Werenski, Seth Jones, Brian Elliott, Chad Johnson, Cam Ward, Eddie Lack, John Tavares, Andrew Ladd, Jason Chimera, Josh Bailey, Artemi Panarin, Jiri Hudler, Patrick Eaves, Dougie Hamilton, Dennis Wideman, Travis Konecny and more. * * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! Roster moves around the league kick off this week's show, as we see an old-but-new #1 option re-emerge once more, an AHL dominator get another crack at a top top six, and the impacts of a coaching change in Long Island. In this week's infirmary, we consider the backup options for a goalie who'd just been finding his rhythm, a goalie who hasn't had a rhythm, a pair of blue-liners who can be trusted to step into high production roles, the Red Wings' top scorer, and whether or not extended absences in Florida are encouraging or deflating for the fantasy prospects on the rest of the roster. In this week's outfirmary: a couple new Rangers who are still establishing their point pace expectations, a dynamic d-man whose gamelog betrays expectations, and a Sabre with whom you'll only ever be satisfied if you maintain low expectations. As usual, streaks abound, including everything being upside-down in St Louis, a former team-leading scorer being demoted to coach-swears-it's-not-actually the third line, a couple of Wild going Wild, an attempt to pass the torch of top production on Calgary's blue line, a top six tourist and a slumping goal-getter in Boston, a top six mainstay in Ottawa who might be starting to play like one again, a long-time top six Leaf making the case that he truly velongs there, and a few goalies that Elan claims Brian has been wrong about. Players mentioned on this episode include Ondrej Pavelec, Connor Hellebuyck, Jake Guentzel, Mathieu Perreault, Andrew Copp, Justin Schultz, Thomas Greiss, Anders Lee, Ryan Strome, Jonathan Bernier, Jhonas Enroth, Rickard Rakell, Jakob Silfverberg, Logan Shaw, Ryan Kesler, Semyon Varlamov, Calvin Pickard, Spencer Martin, Tyson Barrie, Francois Beuachemin, Erik Johnson, John Carlson, Philip Grubauer, Matt Niskanen, Andre Burakovsky, Alex Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, Vincent Trocheck, Reilly Smith, Jussi Jokinen, Jaromir Jagr, Jonathan Marchessault, Thomas Vanek, Anthony Mantha, Mike Zibanejad, Rick Nash, Pavel Buchnevich, PK Subban, Viktor Arvidsson, Tyler Ennis, Jaden Schwartz, Alex Steen, Paul Stastny, Vladimir Tarasenko, Jake Allen, Carter Hutton, Pheonix Copley, Nino Niederreiter, Zach Parise, Jason Pominville, Dougie Hamilton, Mark Giordano, TJ Brodie, Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, Frank Vatrano, David Pastrnak, David Backes, Tyler Bozak, Jordan Eberle, Bobby Ryan, Mike Condon, Ryan Miller, Cam Ward, and more.
