Free agency shopping begins today and while the Nashville Predators have locked up Filip Forsberg, the team may be interested in adding some new blood to the roster. On today's Locked On Predators, Nick and Ann break down the greatest needs that David Poile may be looking to address. Could the Predators go all in on a "big fish" or are they better off adding a few smaller pieces to a somewhat solid roster? We tell you what Nashville's number one priority should be and which unrestricted free agents may fit the bill. We discuss whether the Preds would be better off to pursue a top six forward like Andre Burakovsky or whether the team would be better served long term to invest in a cheaper bottom six addition. We also sift through the restricted free agents who suddenly found themselves on the market after not receiving a qualifying offer - could the Predators find a hidden gem among this season's RFAs? Finally, we tell you which current Nashville Predators UFA is mostly likely to land with a new team. BetOnline Today's Episode is brought to you by BetOnline. While the Stanley Cup winning Colorado Avalanche are still basking in the glory of their championship, many teams around the league have already begun looking at the list of free agents in Denver who might be ready for a bigger payday. On today's Locked On Predators, Nick and Ann put on their GM hats and take a close look at three big free agent forwards on the Avalanche's roster - Nazem Kadri, Andre Burakovsky, and Valeri Nichushkin. We discuss which of these three players would add the most value to the Predators team with and without FIlip Forsberg back in Nashville. We debate whether Kadri, Burakovsky, or Nichushkin's experience even before this Stanley Cup winning season forecasts the best fit and best investment from GM David Poile. We break down what we think each player might cost the Preds cap wise, and which one we most want to see the Predators pursue this offseason. BetOnline Today's Episode is brought to you by BetOnline. It started off not so bad, but then it just went downhill fast and the Avalanche could not recover. The Tampa Bay Lightning took advantage of an out of sync Colorado Avalanche squad and do what good teams do, made them pay for it. But the Avs scored two goals before the Lightning scored one. The only problem was one of the Avs goals was recanted after a challenge and a Val Nichushkin goal was reversed for the Avs being offside. Bad turnovers, struggling to get the puck out of the defensive zone to turn into offensive rushes were much more difficult to come by last night than they have been at any point. And when mistakes are being made by your skaters, you need your goalie to bail you out sometimes. Darcy Kuemper struggled to do so. Pulled after his 5th goal allowed, the big question on the day off will be who starts in net? We also might have some help on the way in the form of Andre Burakovsky returning from an injury, as well all Nazem Kadri. Stay tuned. The Colorado Avalanche have a 1-0 series lead against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup final. The Avalanche were on a roll the whole game scoring 3 first-period goals and winning puck possession for a lot of the game. However, the Lightning, who are back-to-back Stanley Cup champions, were no pushover. With some outstanding individual play, they were able to tie the game up at 3 a piece and send the game to overtime. In overtime, Andre Burakovsky gave the Avalanche the win with a one-timer. Now that game one is out of the way and the feeling-out process is mostly done, Jared Bednar needs to adjust to keep the Avalanche on a roll. It's no secret Andre Burakovsky has had his ups and downs this season with the lowest point being a healthy scratch in a a few games this postseason. But this is why you always have to be ready when called upon. Just over one minute into the OT session, Burakovsky was in the right place at the right time and he used that leathal wrist shot and perfect placement to get one past Tampa goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy and send the Avs faithful home with a 1-0 series lead. The Avalanche came out hot and within the first 10 minutes of the game had gotten two past Vasilevskiy and another that hit the post. They were able to beat him a 3rd time before the period was over, making it the first time he has given up three goals in the first period of the postseason. But he made life difficult for the Avalanche afterwards and we got a little taste of what he is capable of doing in shutting down an opponent so his team can claw back into a game. Which is exactly what Tampa did. In the end, the Avs got the goal that matter most, the last one. Now we wait two days before trying to take the 2nd home game and a 2-0 series lead.
