On this episode of the Hockey Family Podcast, we were joined by Brian Gionta. "Gio" was a Stanley Cup Champion, two-time Olympian, and played over 1,000 NHL regular season games throughout his 16-year career. Brian served as captain for seven NHL seasons, as well as wore the "C" while representing team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympics. He broke into the NHL as an undersized guy, and left a lasting legacy as an amazing leader, competitor, and most importantly, family man. We were lucky enough to ask Gio for the best advice he ever received for his hockey game, his financial pursuits, and for life in general. Brian and his family now reside in his hometown of Rochester, New York, where he loves spending time with family, coaching his kid's youth sports, and supports the Boys & Girls Clubs across western New York. We hope you enjoy the episode, and please do not hesitate to reach out to us at hockeywealth.com should you ever have questions.

Locked On Boston College - Daily Podcast On Boston College Eagles Football & Basketball
Jerry York called it a career after 50 years of coaching, 28 of which were with the Boston College Eagles. In that time York made his mark, winning five national titles and the most wins in college hockey history with nearly 1200. He put players in the NHL including Brian Gionta, Johnny Gaudreau, Kevin Hayes, Brian Boyle and others, but his mark was more than just on the ice. He was a Boston College legend, and we break down his entire career on today's show. Of course we also look at where Boston College goes from here, and why all signs are pointing to a coach in Storrs, Connecticut. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. Bill, Erik, Jeff, and Nick are gathering around the campfire telling Brian Gionta stories on this, the 12th day of June.
Good things come in small packages, I guess you could say that about Brian Gionta. Seriously though, how does a 5'7" forward from New York grow up to become the Captain of the Montreal Canadiens? Dreams do come true.... This guy was an unreal hockey player. A Stanley Cup winner who defied the odds to go on and play over 1,000 career NHL games. Gionta has a great story about perseverance and always believing in yourself. He also has a boat, which for whatever reason gains you instant credibility with Cam Janssen. He's a winner, which he proved in college at Boston College University before turning pro and carving out a nice career in the NHL. Gionta has a great personality, which he demonstrates in this interview. He plays ball with Cam and Andy and provides great content and entertainment during this exclusive conversation. A Captain with two NHL teams and Captain of the USA Olympic team, Gionta shares an important lesson to all the boys and girls out there....always dream big!

Boston College legend Brian Gionta joins Bernie Corbett on the eve of his induction in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.
One man who helped get American hockey off the ground and made a significant impact with USA Hockey was Lou Vairo. A few weeks ago during a USA Hockey coaching dinner in Long Island, NY, which also included an event that celebrated Vairo's life in hockey, Lee and Travis sat down with Vairo, Dave Starman (USA Hockey Certified Coach and College Hockey analyst), and Mike Bonelli (USA Hockey volunteer) to talk about Vairo's career and his impact on USA Hockey. In part one of this three-part podcast series with Lou, you should keep your ears open to learn the following: - At the 2000 World Championships in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Lou, who was the head coach of the team, tells us about a memorable experience in a game against Team Russia. From how the Russian team was stacked, to the crazy atmosphere, to the boisterous fans and how it made him coach differently. - While with that team, Lou spoke about the impact he had on NHL defenseman Hal Gill, who was with the Boston Bruins at the time. He tells us how taught Gill to be creative and not be afraid to make plays. It ended up helping Gill play more freely and with more confidence in the NHL. - We'll hear a great story on former NHL netminder Robert Esche. From wanting to go home on a somewhat made up story, to looking disheveled and then turning it around and shutting out the Russians. it's a story that tells us that all players want to do is be given a chance to strut their stuff.v - Make sure to listen to Lou's thoughts on classy NHL/USA hockey veteran Brian Gionta was and how Lou knew he would be a good all around NHLer.
On this episode of the Hockey Think Tank podcast, we bring on one of the best American Born players to ever play the game in Brian Gionta. Brian has won an NCAA National Championship, a Stanley Cup, had a 16 year NHL career playing of 1,000 games and scoring close to 600 points. And he did it while standing as one of the smallest players in the game. He was also a seven year captain for both the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres. This was an awesome conversation about development, the importance of preparation, leadership...and we dive into some youth hockey as Brian is not coaching his two sons in retirement. Awesome guy, and thank you to everyone who is tuning in! *Opening music: Forget the Whale - Take to the Skies (Instrumental)
