Tom Wilson is a critical piece of the Washington Capitals' present and future success. As one of the team's alternate captains and a veteran at just 30 years old, Wilson provides invaluable leadership on and off the ice. His rare blend of physicality, offensive production, and intangibles make him a keystone player. This past season, despite injuries and lineup shuffles, Wilson still produced at a high level with 18 goals and 35 points in 74 games while making his second All-Star appearance. With Alex Ovechkin entering the twilight of his illustrious career in Washington, Wilson's role as a leader will only expand. His seven-year contract extension begins next season, perfectly aligning with the need for Wilson to step up as the face of the next era of Capitals hockey. Nicklas Backstrom's uncertain playing future also opens the door for Wilson's voice to grow louder. Wilson has earned high praise from teammates for his work ethic, accountability, and team-first mentality. The Capitals will lean heavily on these traits as Wilson guides and mentors the organization's young core. His experience overcoming adversity this past season, including losing Backstrom and having to adapt to Evgeny Kuznetsov's departure, has only strengthened Wilson's leadership abilities. He is ready and eager to embrace being the heart, soul, and identity of the Capitals. With his rare power forward playing style and growing intangibles, Tom Wilson is clearly indispensable to everything Washington is building towards now and into the future.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Monopoly GO!Get in the game and join your friends. This week, Hockey Talk looks at a disaster in the making in San Jose. For the past decade, the San Jose Sharks have been one of the best teams in the Western Conference. This year, however, they are historically bad. After getting blown out by a combined score of 20-3 in back-to-back games, and an 0-10-1 mark through 11 games, things are as bleak as they can be. Will the Sharks challenge for the ignominy of being one of the worst teams in NHL history? At the other end of the spectrum, the defending champion Golden Knights look hell bent to be one of the best teams in history. The guys discuss all that plus the likely end of an era in DC as Nicklas Backstrom steps away from the Caps for the foreseeable future.Today's hosts: Dave Ungar (@AttitudeAgg) and Patrick O'Dowd (@WrestlngRealist)The Vegas Golden Knights are scary goodThe San Jose Sharks are horrifically awfulIs this the end of the road for Nicklas Backstrom?About the Chairshot Radio NetworkCreated in 2017, the Chairshot Radio Network presents you with the best in wrestling and wrestling crossover podcasts, including POD is WAR, Women's Wrestling Talk, Chairshot Radio daily editions, The #Miranda Show, Badlands' Wrestling Mount Rushmores, The Outsider's Edge, DWI Podcast, Bandwagon Nerds, the Greg DeMarco Show, 3 Man Weave, Five Rounds, Turnbuckle Talk, The Reaction and more! They start the show by diving into the Penguins leading the charge for mandatory neckguards after the tragic death of Adam Johnson and why it should be mandatory all across hockey. They analyze how it will help every player around the world before getting to some mock trades that Kyle Dubas may or may not make this season. Pat goes into a defenseman that may make some sense for the Penguins while Hunter goes into a couple of forward options that could make some sense since the Penguins may need another scorer. Pat then has a forward option of his own before they end the show with the Nicklas Backstrom news and why people should cherish what Crosby and Malkin are doing right now.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Parkview AdvanceFor more than 25 years, Parkview Advance has helped businesses secure working capital.
