Joined by Ryan, aka RattMartin of the Skates at the Stakes podcast, Mike and Dan remember Derick Brassard, a recent Weird Islander who went from hated to beloved to forgotten in the span of just a few seasons. After starring on a few very good Rangers team, Brassard entered the wilderness, where he played for what seemed like a different team every six months. He landed with the Islanders as a replacement depth center and after months of searching for a role, settled into a slot on the wing where he played a key role in the team's run to the semifinals in the bubble tournament. He has gone onto play for a few other teams since leaving Long Island, and has now surpassed the 1,000 games mark in his return engagement with the Ottawa Senators. Ryan talks about his memories of Brassard's short time with the Islanders, his mythical status within his friend group and how that bubble team all had their signature moments that will live on forever. It's Friday afternoon and that means we're hitting you with a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio to help you finish off what's left of your week with an hour of all things Edmonton Oilers. On today's show, we looked at first impressions for Kulak and Brassard, last night's win over San Jose, and a whole lot more. Kicking off this week's podcast, we got started with our first impressions on Brett Kulak and Derick Brassard as both guys played their first game with their new team after being acquired at the NHL Trade Deadline. For all of us on the podcast, both guys put their best foot forward and helped the team lock down a very important win, which was all you can really ask from two guys playing in their first game with their new team. From there, we looked back on the week that was and how the Oilers had a couple of tough losses to start the week but then rebounded with a huge win against the San Jose Sharks last night in response. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to recap what was a very busy week here in Edmonton.
Hear from Derick Brassard and Brett Kulak before they debut for the Edmonton Oilers, plus pre-game audio from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jay Woodcroft and the projected line combinations. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Let's do this! The Cult of Hockey podcast. By the Faithful and for the Faithful, tonight with Bruce McCurdy and David Staples. They dig into Edmonton's acquisition of Brett Kulak and Derick Brassard at trade deadline.
It's Monday afternoon, the trade deadline just wrapped, and we're hitting you with a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio to help make sense of everything that happened today. On today's show, we looked at the Oilers bringing in Brett Kulak and Derick Brassard, the winners and losers from deadline day, and a whole lot more. Kicking things off, we jumped in with a look back at the inaugural Daily Faceoff trade deadline show and how it was very successful, especially since it was the first time we've ever done anything like this. Needless to say, we were all pretty proud of our boy for the work he put in today and how handsome he looked with his grown-up haircut. Back to the Oilers, we looked at the two moves Ken Holland did make as he brought in both Brett Kulak from the Canadiens and Derick Brassard from the Flyers. Since none of us were expecting the Oilers to be overly busy today, it was almost surprising to see Holland pick up a forward and defenceman despite adding just over $680K in cap space. From there, we looked around the NHL and if there were any other deals teams made that we wish the Oilers would have gotten done instead. Justin Braun? Rickard Rakell? Someone else? With the Oilers talk wrapped up, we picked our winners and losers from deadline day as there were a bunch of teams that were expected to get more done but simply could not. Lastly, we wrapped up the emergency episode of ONR with a look at tonight's matchup against the Avalanche and what the boys need to do to keep their winning streak alive.
John Shannon checks back in after the Oilers acquired Brett Kulak and Derick Brassard at the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline. How much better does this make the team. and what other deals may have been in play? Then, Oilers play-by-play man Jack Michaels offers his thoughts on the two newest members of the team. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Mike and Joe begin the show by reacting to all of the recent trades across the NHL. Then, they look back on the Fantasy Players of the Night this week before talking about the late deals on Monday's deadline. Which player gets the biggest bump in value as a result of a trade? Who is worth picking up after a change in scenery? We let you know. Mike and Joe wrap up the show looking at the week ahead.
