On Tuesday night, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro met with reporters in Brasília. The country had surpassed China in the total number of deaths from the coronavirus and had just registered its highest death count in a 24-hour period: 474 people.In China, 82,858 cases have been confirmed to date, with the official death toll at 4,633. Es un refugio de enormes dimensiones, construido a prueba de terremotos y bombas nucleares, donde se almacenan en la actualidad más de 850.000 muestras de semillas pertenecientes a 4.000 especies, una cantidad en continuo aumento porque el refugio tiene capacidad para 4.5 millones de muestras. Todo ello con el fin de preservar la riqueza genética vegetal para el futuro.

La velocidad con la que llega esta información, ha cambiado muchas veces el curso de la historia, en batallas y otras circunstancias igual de importantes que se perdieron o ganaron ya sea porque la información llegó a tiempo o bien porque no llegó. Cuando un árbol se encuentra en crecimiento, usa el dióxido de carbono del aire y comienza a unirlo mediante reacciones químicas con moléculas de agua para formar glucosa. Una molécula que funciona como una especie de batería capaz de almacenar energía ¿De dónde obtiene esa energía que almacena? Hoy habla de ciencia extrema en el interior del cuerpo humano. En nuestro cuerpo, existen unas células encargadas de transportar oxígeno llamadas glóbulos rojos. Cada glóbulo rojo contiene en su interior aproximadamente 280 millones de moléculas de hemoglobina. Necesitamos unos 35,000 millones de glóbulos rojos circulando en nuestros escasos 7 litros de sangre, para llevar hasta cada célula su dotación de oxígeno. Un verdadero universo microscópico.
